Chapter 6✔︎
Y/N PoV
I get to my locker earlier than I usually do Monday morning. Betty needs another one of my drawings, and I'm going to check out the art club. Hopefully, I can keep pursuing art as a career. It would really help we with college.
When I approach my locker, I see a piece of paper sticking out of everyone's locker, including mine.
I grab it and read it quickly. 'Feeling scared? Want protection? Call the RED CIRCLE. Call or text: ***-***-****' The number is the one thing throwing me off, I know who's number it is, and that person is an idiot.
"Archibald Andrews!" I whisper yell to myself, then whip out my phone to call him. After a couple of rings, his voice mail starts to play. The one time it is super important, he doesn't pick up.
—————
I joined the art club this morning. It sounds great, and the other kids aren't half bad. They're just really preppy and not my first choice of friends. During lunch, my phone starts to ring and I check it immediately, hoping it's Archie, but it's just Jughead, "Hey Juggie."
"Y/N! I have great news." He tells me happily.
"What it is?"
A loud bang comes from the phone, but he doesn't stop, "My English teacher is letting me restart the Red and Black newspaper."
"That's great!"
"It is. I've missed writing for the paper at Riverdale High." Another bang.
"Yeah, hey Jug, what's that banging noise?" I ask, more loud bangs come from his end.
"Oh um it's just lockers," he lies.
I nod to myself, "Okay."
"I gotta go Y/N, Toni's harassing me to get to lunch. I'll talk to you later."
"Bye." But it's too late, he already hung up. "It's been a great day," I whisper to myself.
—————
I knock on the Red and Black's door, holding my boy full of things for the newspaper, and walk in. "Oh so this is the Red and Black."
"N/N. You cannot be here at night, unless you're armed.
I shake my head, "One, I can kick some ass. Two, I am." I hold up a water heater for coffee then set it on a desk with the box, "Thought you'd like this."
"Thank you. Okay, honestly, Y/N? I hit pay dirt. Do you remember how no one could explain the local component of Clifford Blossom's drug pipeline? The Jingle-Jangle, the stuff that Moose and Midge were on? It's coming from here."
I hold up my hand to stop him, "Serpents don't deal hard drugs. I hate to defend them, but it is true."
"I know, but it isn't them. The Ghoulies do." He smiles proud of himself from finding the truth.
"But is it wise to be writing about gangs and drugs? Especially, while going to school here?" I ask.
"Are you worried about me?" He walks closer, with his hands on his hips.
"Well, yeah, Jug. I'm always worried."
He runs his hand from my arm up to my neck, "I thought you liked me reckless." Jug's eyes look between my lips and eyes.
I roll my eyes, and kiss him passionately, my hands cup his cheeks.
Jug deepens the kiss, smiling into it. He wraps his arms around my waist tightly, pulling me towards him once his back meets the desk.
The kiss makes butterflies send off in my stomach, but the door opens making them fall. We stop kissing to see Toni standing there with some books.
"Sorry, I didn't see the sock on the door." She jokes.
I pull away from Jughead, "It's okay."
"Hey Toni," Jughead wipes my lipgloss off his lips, "Y/N, she is the photographer."
My mood drifts from happy to ((I wanna write smad so bad)) sad, quickly. "Oh, cool." I lie convincingly.
Toni walks over to another desk, I'm the corner, "I'm sorry with what happened with the Serpents, I'm hoping we can still be friends."
"Yeah."
Jughead holds up the water heater, "Hey, look what Y/N brought us."
She smiles, and holds up the same thing, "Great minds." Toni laughs.
"Great minds." I repeat with a bit of sass.
—————
I get another call later that night from the one and only Betty, "Cooper, what do you want?" I try to say nicely.
"Well, Kev is doing something bad. and your probably the best person I know that will be able to stop him." She tells me.
I take a sip of a milkshake I got from Pops, "Ok, well what's going on with him?"
"He's been cruising. Cheryl called and told me where he is. You in?"
"Ugh, now I'm friends with two idiots. Kevin should make his own decisions on stopping, but we shall go persuade him." I through the empty milkshake into the garbage, "Text me the address."
"Ok, bye." She hangs up.
I get the text from her, and start to drive there. Once I get to the edge of the woods, where Betty said to meet, I get out and see her and Cheryl. "Hey guys."
"Hey Y/N." Cheryl greets, "Ready for some fun?"
"Um sure?" I say.
"Follow me," Betty walks into the forest.
I follow close behind her, "How's everything been with you, Bets?"
"Good. Sweet Pea took me on a date." Even thought it's night, I can see her red face, "I like him."
"That's good. Whatever Kevin comes up for your ship name, for the win!" I yell.
Betty laughs, but shushes me so Kevin doesn't hear us. She takes up to a clearing with Kevin in a jogging suit.
"Oh my god! What're you guys doing here?" Kevin asks.
Betty shuts off her flash light, "Cheryl called me and said it looked like you were going for a jog, heading towards Fox Forest."
"Facts." Cheryl crosses her arms.
"You said you weren't going to do this anymore." She sighs and walks over to him.
"For god's sake, Betty, Y/N, what do you want from me?"
"I want you to make choices, that won't get you killed." I tell him.
Betty begins to raise her voice, "And I want for you to have more respect for yourself than this."
"Respect for myself? Look, we've been friends for a long time but you still have no idea." Kevin matches Betty's tone.
"Well then, tell me, Kev, please." Betty yells.
"You act like we have the same set of options, but we don't. You live in this pale pink world of milkshakes and first kisses and am I gonna date Archie or Jughead or Sweet Pea now?"
I cross my arms, "Excuse me? Why would she date Jughead?"
"Shush Bride of Hobo!" She smirks, "Except for when she's Dark Betty." Cheryl waves her flash light around the ground, probably looking for any snakes.
"Right! Right right! Except for when your exploring your BDSM sexuality which, again, you're allowed to do, but I'm not. Because, why? This is what I've got, Betty, me, these woods. So, please don't come here and tell me it's disgusting. If you can't accept what I do, whatever I do, then we're just not really friends." Kevin turns around, and runs away from us going deeper and deeper into the forest. Soon, he'll be in too deep, and something bad is gonna happen.
—————
I decided to take a day off from the Lodges and stay in my old room at the Andrews. My phone rings again. I groan, another freaking call!, "Hello?"
"Hey, Y/N? Could you come down here? I got into an accident." Jughead tells me.
"What?" I freeze, "Are you okay? What happened?"
"I'm fine, but can you come, and can you bring a first aid kit? We don't have one."
"Yes, yeah of course. I'll be there in 5." I hang up the phone, and race over to the Andrew's first aide kit. In a couple minutes, I'm in the car and already on my way. When I pull up, I get out and knock on the door.
Toni answers it, "Hey."
"Hey. Where's Jug?" No time for me to feel jealous, I repeat to myself multiple times.
"Couch." She lets me in and leans on the kitchen counter.
I walk over to Jug and get out bandages and rubbing alcohol, "I'm glad your okay, but what happened."
"I hit a pot hole on the motorcycle, and I wasn't wearing a helmet." He tells me.
I begin to clean his cuts, "You shouldn't worn a helmet, Juggie."
He winces a bit when the wipe hits his skin, "Don't blame me, blame the pot hole."
"Sorry that stings." I keep cleaning his wounds.
"It's okay. Gives me a chance to look into your beautiful eyes."
Toni fake gags in the corner, "Gross."
I roll my eyes, "Maybe you should take a day off?"
"It's not that bad, it's just some cuts and bruises."
I frown slightly, "I thought you were gonna say you were jumped by the Ghoulies. I'm glad you weren't though."
Toni walks towards us, "Yeah. The Serpents, won't allow that. They got Jughead's back. Even though he's not a member. It's just family loyalty."
"Oh." I finish cleaning and bandaging his injuries, "Well, I got to go to school. Try to fix the mess of Betty and Kevin's friendship." I lean down and try to give Jughead a kiss, but he leans away. I frown, maybe meeting Toni really was the key to breaking us up.
Jughead looks at me, "Don't think I don't wanna kiss you, because I do. It's my lip."
I smile, "Ok, good. You had me worried for a sec. I'll see you soon, love you."
"Love you too." Jughead smiles back.
"Oh, Toni, will you keep an eye on him for me? Make sure he isn't being stupid?"
She gives me a captains signal, "I'm all over it."
"Thanks, Toni." I leave the trailer and head straight to school, still not able to have a chat with Mr. Archibald.
