After the whole cold sweat ordeal Eddie hadn't once left her side. He had been sitting next to her the entire time, waiting for anything from Dustin with the walkie-talkie. He couldn't bring himself to sleep so he was constantly on watch duty.

His gaze slowly traveled down to her hip that she held and hissed with every move. "Can check?" He pointed towards her hip so he brows wouldn't furrow even though he loved the crease they created.

"Uh, s-sure." Gracie was honestly scared of what it might look like. She was sure it wasn't just a small bruise either and it was quite painful. Eddie carefully moved towards the girl easing his hand onto the buckle of her shorts.

His eyes connecting with her asking for approval to continue. She gave him a short nod, only focusing on the burning sensation he hand made as he rested the other on her thigh.

Slowly he undid the belt making sure not to damage it in anyway that he'd do his own. Unbuckling the button on the shorts, pulling the zipper down so he'd be able to see the bruise.

Gently pulling the right side of her shorts down far enough to see the bruise in behind the material of her underwear. "Is it bad, Eds?"

He sucked in a sharp breath, not being able to remove his eyes from the purple and red skin beginning to swell. "I-It's not good." He pushed down the piece of underwear in the way to get a better look, seeing where the blood was forming the bruise.

"It'll be okay. When we get home I'll ice it, all right." Forgetting about the bruise on her hip she smirked down at him, home. "Home?" Her teeth took in a small amount of her lip, seeing his nerves heighten.

"Uh, well, I-I meant my home. But, since you're over there, uh, all the time I just forgot. Sorry." A real smile fell onto her pink lips calming the boy down.

"No need for sorry's. Can I be honest with you?" Eddie stood up fully, finding it weird he was still face first in her waist line. "I think I like you more than a fling should... every time I'm with you I just feel this waver of safety. I feel at home when I'm with you and I've only ever felt that with two people before."

He watched the way her eyes watered and listened to the way her voice began to break. Placing his hands on her waist gently pulling her closer in concern. "And they're gone. I'm just scared if I allow myself to be close to you that you'll be gone too." The last words becoming short whispers falling into the loud silence that took over the shed.

"Hey," his hands were drawn to her face, overlapping onto her round cheeks "I'm not going anywhere." All of a sudden he removed his hands from her face, going to unclip the silver curban link bracelet.

He took her left hand that was stray by her side and clipped it around her wrist with a cheeky smile. "I'll always be with you, no matter what." His head dipped down to her height, hovering his lips over hers.

Hand attracted her the curve of her jaw as he pulled her head closer to him seeing how her lips parted in the process.

However, the sound of a car approaching the house and shed on the gravel and dead leaves made them jolt apart. Eddie hovering by the window, seeing Jason's black SUV. "Shit. Shit." He quickly moved to be hidden. "What is it?" Her nails began to pick at the skin on her thumb a sign her stress levels were raising.

"Jason and his group of Saturday Laundry Bunch." He huffed, heart racing as he nearly slammed his face onto the other window.

Once they entered the house he knew they'd see the pot of spaghetti-o's he fixed up for them last night. Eddie gripped onto the walkie-talkie tying to channel Dustin.

"Hey, Dustin. You there? It's Eddie." He turned away from the window, other hand motioning for Gracie to come to him just as a precaution if Jason came barging in. "You remember me, right? Or what about Gracie? Hey, if anyones there, I think we might be in a bit of trouble here. Okay? Wheeler?" He called as he got no response.

"Anybody?!" He spat with his teeth tightly pressed together, hitting the walkie-talkie in anger causing the girl to jump back in shock. It was growing dark outside and the guys were still in the house.

"Eddie... I left my jacket inside." Her eyes were wide as she came across realization.

"What if they found it? It has my name on the tag. My dad always told me to put my name on the tag. He told me to put my name on the tag! 'Always put your name on the tag'! It's on the tag!" She cried, hot tears streaming down her face, she didn't want to be the reason Eddie went to jail tonight.

If they found out Gracie was with him they'd just manipulate it into a craze story of how he put a spell on her or kidnapped her.

"Gray, Gracie, Gracelyn. Hey!" He slapped her cheeks gently to her get attention, wiping away the tears with the sleeve of his leather jacket. "It'll be okay. But we have to go, now."

He took the walkie-talkie in hand one last time trying to get ahold of the now untrustworthy of keeping in contact boy. "Dustin? Are you there?" There was nothing but static in the other end, however, Eddie's eyes fell on something else.

"Never mind." He spoke into the walkie-talkie before handing it to Gracie. He began untying the rope form the boat, so he'd be able to push it into the lake. "We're gonna get out of here, Gracie."

He pulled useless items out from the boat, only keeping the oar, three 'YooHoo's and a flashlight. He hurriedly pushed the boat farther out into the water, before she picked Gracie up with no warning and set her inside.

Pushing it a little farther he hopped inside and took an oar in his hand and paddled as fast as he could. The motor wasn't working but even if it did they couldn't risk the attention.

"Hey, freak!" The sudden voice of Jason Carver sent shivers down their spines. They had been seen. Gracie picked up a oar and started to paddle faster with Eddie, dropping the flashlight she held somewhere in the boat.

Her head turning every second to see Jason and Patrick getting into the water. "Where do you think you're going?" Eddie gripped onto her hand stopping her as he moved to the end of the boat trying the motor one more time.

"Come on, gotta help me out here man." He whispered pulling the engine cord over and over but it was just sputters. God damn it!" He hit the engine moving back with Gracie to paddle. "Nope, okay, all right. Paddle with all your might, Gracie." The two tried to paddle but the boys were quicker than fly on a picnic day.

Patrick suddenly stopped in the water as Jason reached the boat and Eddie realized they weren't fast enough. "Hey, stay back, man! Stay back." He held the oar up in defense, pushing Gracie out of his view.

He began swinging the oar but Jason turned around seeing Patrick hadn't moved. "Come on. We almost have him!" He encouraged the lost looking boy. "Hey, Patrick."

Gracie suddenly felt dizzy, a sharp pain shooting through her head as her nose bled. "Eddie." She winced out calling his attention. "Grace? Gray? Oh, jeez." The blood was like a trail flowing from her nostril it was unusual and unhealthy.

She gripped his arm tightly in pain, her breath picking up as a clock chimed in her ears. "Eddie!" She tried to hold onto him so she knew everything was real, she didn't want to go back into the cold dark hated place.

The boat began to rock as she freaked out inside. Eddie had no clue how to calm her down. She was yelling his name over and over, gripping and regripping his clothes with each yell.

She couldn't hear anything, all she heard were the chimes, not even her own yells. "Gracie?!" Eddie hovered over her shaking her as her eyes flickered around him, not being able to focus on him in fear.

He could feel her body shaking. "Gracie! Stop, please!" He tried to pull her in for a hug but she couldn't stop trying to grab and hold onto him.

The sudden splash of the water made his head spin back around to see Patrick was no where in sight. "Patrick. Hey, Patrick. Patrick!" Jason called out but Patrick was soon lifted from under the water and into the air just like Chrissy's had.

Eddie from shock had accidentally tipped the boat, causing him to pull Gracie out of the small shock. "Ed, I can't sw-!" Her words were cut off as she fell into the water.

Hands gripping at the boat trying to stay above the water. Her eyes widened in fear as she watched Patrick's limbs break just like the cheerleader two nights ago.

Eddie finally came up for air, not noticing Gracie's struggle as he couldn't remove his eyes from Patrick. His body fell back into the water just in front of Jason finally giving Eddie a chance to see Gracie.

"Grace-!" He swam as fast as he could to get struggling form. Seeing the way her knuckles turned white and how her head kept dunking back into the water even though she was holding onto the boat.

He grabbed her, allowing her to wrap her legs around his waist and drop her head in his neck. "I got you. I got you." He felt her shake in his hold.

He couldn't tell if it was from Patrick to the strange thing that happened to her that night. He held onto her tightly, hand running through the back of her wet hair. "I'm sorry, I got you."

He pressed a small kiss to the side of her head before he struggled to get her into the boat, leaving a shocked Jason in the water. He placed her wet form in his lap as he paddled to shore.

"I got you, Gracie."
