Chapter 5.

It's Friday finally! I'm highly impressed with how quickly the week went by. My friend Marvin promised so come to my house. I have become very fond of him. Julie, Marvin and I don't have to take the bus to school. It's actually a walking distance from our houses so we walk to school everyday.

I love my new school.

I have noticed that Monday, Wednesday and Friday the same black vehicle almost like the one in my dreams pass by and shoots a hoot I swear the hoot is meant for one of us. Supposedly I wouldn't be surprised if it's meant for Julie. Mean like just look at her she looks drop dead gorgeous, she's a damn goddess. So far I haven't heard any of them speaking inappropriately and that makes me like them even more. It's terrific to see that not everyone is like Bryan. I hate Bryan!

We are almost at the corner we call 'go home' because that is were we split to go to our different destinations.

"Don't forget come before four strikes if you come after I swear Rosa will kick you out!" It's more of a demand but I don't care. We all burst into laughter. I stop laughing when I spot it.

There it is. I see it with the corner of my right eye I spot it the shiny black vintage truck with rims I swear are made from platinum, the metal is so shinny that it's reflection nearly blind me. It's taking a turn on our corner coming towards our direction. The air and I are patiently wait for the car to shoot its hoot to make a loud buzz. The car windows are painted in black I can't really see how the man looks like all I can see is that the man is not alone is the car. In fact it is packed with young girls. I see weaves I know no man would want to wear fake hair.

"You are so funny." Julie tells me. For a moment I forgot that we were laughing I should stop focusing on things that don't deserve my thoughts, my gut just won't let the mystery car out of my thoughts.

I actually like that I'm the only boy that makes her laugh this hard, what a heavenly sight.

"Yes I am." We have reached our four-way corner.

"I'm sure hope Mrs Mayfield wouldn't mind if I bring a few drinks" Marvin smirks. Julie laughs much harder, I'm getting annoyed.

"Bye see you at four Marvin" I sarcastically tell him and a smirk appears on my handsome face, he nods. We all exchange goodbyes.

Marvin goes left, Julie heads right and I continue striaght. I'm very much aware of Julie not wanting anyone to know where she stays so I try my best not to bring it up.

I arrive home. When I step in the yard I get introduced by a clamor of noise.

"I wonder what's going on? I sure hope I don't find another reality episode of Tom and Jerry." The door is open so I don't have to open it. I find my parents celebrating.

"There you are young man." My father says with his deep voice. I've never seen him this happy before.

"What's with all the noises?" I ask my dad.

"We are celebrating honey." Of course my mom would answer on his behalf.

"Celebrating what?" I'm curious now.

"I just received the documentation for that car garage I've been telling the two of you about." He is still smiling.

"Dale my boy." He rests his hand on my shoulders. "As from today I own Frank and Son's car garage."

"Don't you mean workshop?"

"Same thing just different names but that would do too. I see you becoming Mr Smartie pants."

"Never claimed otherwise. I'm so proud of you dad." Frank and son's though doesn't sound that appealing but I keep my opinion to myself and try not to spoil the current mood. My opinions mean nothing right now I would spoil my father's achievement just for some name he came a long way it's time for me to cheer for him just like he always does for me.

"Yeah. I couldn't have done it if it wasn't for Nav."

"Nav?" I had to ask.

"Yes Dale he is the man that helped your father buy the place." My mom says smiling but it doesn't meet her eyes.

"What's wrong dear?" My dad notice my mom's change of mood. At the same time I say. "Did you really have to make a loud noise?" I feel mortified now, how selfish am I?

"It's nothing I'm just thinking what I'm going to do at home seeing that we moved to a new city. You know what never mind."

"No go on. Rosa baby you can tell me anything. I'd never judge you."

"Well... I... I lost my job and..."

"Hey don't worry about that, I'll provide." My dad reassures us awakening my mother's happy face.

"My friend Marvin is coming over" I drop the boom. They look at each other, worry lashes on their face I'm taken by surprise by response when they just nod I expected more I guess they don't want to ruin the mood.

"Okay." My mother rests her hand on her chest.

"He is a cool guy you don't have to worry, no more Bryans." I assure them. They smile any unconvincing smile but I appreciate their effort so I just go with it. I'm still a good boy nothing has changed.

"What time will he get here you know your father and I don't like it when you go running around the streets late."

"Yeah I know he said that he will be here at four."

"Okay, let's celebrate in the meantime" I nod.
A few minutes later my parents exit the livingroom.

Where is he? Marvin said he would be here by four. It's now five minutes past four. I'm scrolling through my channels on the television and honestly they isn't much to watch.

After a few minutes someone knocks on the door. I stand to my feet and walk towards the door.

"Hey man sorry I'm late my mom sent me to the store to get a few things". He is sweating so I instantly believe him.

"It's alright man. Come in I'll grab you a glass of water for you." He nods.

"Sure I'll appreciate it." I glance at the couch for him to sit he oblige. When I walk through the kitchen doorway I find my parents seated on the counter chairs. They are finishing off the wine still left in their glasses. I go around them, grab a glass from the cabinet and fill it with water.

"Honey? Your father and I won't be here when you get back that is if you are planning to go out.

"Where are you two off too?"

"We are going on a date." The look my parents give each other justifies how madly in love they are. I truly adore my parents love for each other. I have always wondered how they ever met. Clearly these two were designed for one another?

"Okay. Enjoy" I smile they do the same. With the glass still in my hand.

"Let me hurry up to go and give Marvin his glass of water."

"Marvin is here?" My mom asks.

"Yes mama didn't I tell you that his here?" She shakes her head no.

"We better go and introduce ourselves honey." the way my mom calls my father honey makes my heart melt literally.

We all walk in silence to the livingroom. I'm terrified of what my parents would think of Marvin. Why am I even terrified? I'm supposed to feel jolly that I made a decent friend for once.

"Well...hello Marvin" my mother press her fingers together and gives Marvin a small smile. She has never smiled like that to any of my friends back at Sunnyside so that must be a good sign.

Bonus point.

"Good afternoon Mrs Mayfield." He stands to shake my parent's hands.

"Dale?" He then turns to shake mine. I look away and chuckle. He is really pushing it.

I hand Marvin the glass of water to drink away his sorrows. "Thanks man."

"Call me mama! We have heard so much about you." She is expressing her tenderness. Relief and fear unleash within me. Call me mama means that he approves of him.

Another bonus point.

"Yeah I hope you heard good things" Marvin is calm. I expected him to be frighten but Marvin being Marvin he kept his cool. I have never seen such a calm and collected positive person. Nowadays is really hard to find a friend like Marvin. A friend so true and consciously undecided at the same time, a friend so thoughtful, a friend that is not mortified to reflect on his mother's wishes, a friend that even when you give them dreadful glares they'd still remain the same not because that they are ignoring you, but they are gathering the inner that they you display to them because they care about you and they want to see you excel in whatever you do and reveal your true character without telling you. They make you want to believe that sincerity and kindness is real even when you come from a wild and rough background.

Marvin is awesome I can't believe I thought all that about him in the last four days that I have met him.
It is because generally he is a gracious person, a boy that is true to his character unlike me he reflects and advises good in his surroundings even without saying a word. Just by him standing up you can tell that he is Marvin Miller a boy that is true to himself. Perhaps I'm just saying this because I don't know the inner him. Or it is because I'm not good at judging people.
