The Book
(Extreme angst and Character Death up ahead.)
"Give it up, Dream," Quackity demanded, fingers tightly gripping the handle to his sword. He held out his blade suddenly, making the tip press lightly against Puffy's throat. She stared up at the sky, shaky breath coming from her nose. "Or she gets it."
"Quackity, this wasn't apart of the fucking plan!" Foolish boomed. "You told me you'd leave her out of this!"
"You have NO fucking room to speak!" Quackity yelled, pointing his blade at Foolish. "I trusted you, and you side with this jackass?"
"Yeah– because you were tORTURING MY BROTHER!" Foolish retorted. Puffy tried to shake Charlie's grasp off of her, but it was surprisingly firm. Quackity slowly smirked, lowering his blade. "I don't have it."
Quackity's grin fell. "What?" He hissed in a low tone. "I said," Dream started. "I don't have it." His expression held one of sadness. "It got stolen." Quackity scoffed. "You let the revival book get stolen?" He asked.
"Believe me, I'd give it to you now if I could," Dream spoke, clenching his fists. "I value my family's life over mine, I wouldn't let you hurt them if I could stop it."
"Would you die for her then?" Quackity asked, grinning once more. "Puffy, you're on your last life. Are you not?" Quackity asked, looking at the female in his custody. She didn't respond, her eyes falling upon her two sons. "Quackity, please," Foolish begged, taking a step closer. "Please– don't hurt them."
"You have some nerve telling me what to do," Quackity hissed.
"Yes," Dream suddenly said. Quackity looked at him. "I would die for my mother."
"Dream– nO," Puffy quickly replied, beginning to struggle again. Her eyes began to sting with tears. Quackity only pressed the blade firmly against her neck, causing her to tense as it very slightly pierced her skin. "Quiet," he demanded.
"Quackity, this doesn't involve them!" Dream screamed, taking a step forward. "This is between you and me." Quackity let out a laugh, tossing his head back slightly. He let out a sigh, wicked grin being on his face. "I had everything at one point, y'know," he spoke, looking back at Dream. "Las Nevadas is my everything now, but before that..." He paused, looking back at the casino. "they were my everything. One thought I was a murderer, and the other wouldn't even talk to me."
"Could you blame them?" Dream asked, elbowing his little brother and giving him a "What the fuck" look. Quackity slowly looked back at him, his grin being gone. "No," he breathed. "But I can blame you. Everything would be fine if it weren't for you." Dream bit his lip anxiously as he watched Quackity pace in a little circle. "My last name would be Jacobs...we'd rule our country together." Quackity scoffed, tears bubbling in his eyes. "We were even thinking about adoption. We could've been fathers." Quackity looked back at Dream. "SapNap was so excited to tell you that you'd be an uncle, and you fUCKED IT UP!!"
Foolish shivered at the glare Quackoty gave Dream. Dream, however, stood unaffected. "What I did wasn't supposed to go this far," Dream started, taking another step closer. His eyes were swimming with their own tears, one rolling down his cheek. "Do you honestly think I wanted to hurt you this badly? Up until now?"
"It doesn't matter if you MEANT IT!!" Quackity boomed. "They're DEAD because of you!"
"YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW THAT?!" Dream boomed, causing Foolish to flinch. "YOU THINK I DON'T FUCKING REGRET IT EVERY SINGLE DAY, QUACKITY?!?!"
"THEN FUCKING FIX IT!!" Quackity boomed. "YOU HAVE THE BOOK!"
"I TOLD YOU I DON'T HAVE IT, DIPSHIT!" Dream screamed back, both of their tears freely rolling down their faces.. Quackity trembled from his anger and distraught, looking at Puffy. He gripped his blade with both hands, bringing it up into the air. "QUACKITY, NO!!" Foolish begged, rushing toward the male. He was too far to reach Puffy in time, and Quackity brought his sword down as hard as he could.
It clanked against something metal.
His eyes widened as he saw another sword, blocking him from striking Puffy. "S....SapNap?" He whispered in shock.
A loud gasp left Quackity, his arms lowering as he lost his grip on his weapon. He slowly looked down, seeing a crimson covered blade protruding from his stomach. Someone from behind him rested their face in his shoulder, the familiar scent of rose cologne filling his nose. "I'm so sorry," Karl whispered, falling to his knees with Quackity. SapNap did the same, Quackity looking back up at him. SapNap had already started to silently cry, reaching up and brushing a strand out Quackity's hair out of his face. "You can rest now," he said dully. "You can come back when you're ready." Quackity shakily breathed as he leaned into his touch, Karl resting a hand on the opposite side of Quackity's face and pressing a firm kiss on his head. "Y–You're okay," he croaked. "We'll be here with you. We aren't l–leaving this time." Quackity winced as he leaned back a bit, Karl holding him in place.
"Los–" Quackity was cut off by harsh coughing, his blood spurting out of his mouth as he did so. He opened his eyes, blood trickling down his chin as he looked up at SapNap one last time. "L–Los amo a a–ambos," he croaked, feeling as Karl ran a hand through his jet black hair and kiss his cheek. He could feel Karl's tears against his skin. SapNap leaned forward, pressing his lips against Quackity's temple. "We love you too," he whispered, his lip trembling as he watched Quqckity slowly go limp. His eyes never fully shut, his lips being parted. Karl buried his face into the crook of Quackity's neck, and he began to sob. He repeated "I'm sorry," multiple times, lever losing his grip on Quackity. SapNap looked down at the ground, pressing his hands against the gravel as he began to also sob. His body shook harshly as fresh tears poured out of his eyes, hands gripping at the ground.
Foolish and Dream rushed over to Puffy, Charlie stepping back as a way to avoid confrontation. He watched at the two quickly untied their mother, the three embracing in a tight hug. Puffy held her sons as close as she could, stroking their hair as they had began to cry. "I–It's all my fault," Dream croaked, gripping his shirt tightly. "Duckling–" Puffy started, but Dream cut her off. "Don't tell me it's not!" Dream yelled, looking at her. He pulled away from the hug, standing and glaring down at his mother. "Don't you realize I could've gotten you KILLED?!" He boomed, allowing his emotions to take over. "Dream, please–" Foolish croaked. Dream began to breathe heavily, anger fueling him. How could they be ignoring the fact that everything he had done was what caused this to happen? He turned on his heel, making way to storm off, but ran into someone.
Before Dream could step back, SapNap took the opportunity to wrap his arms around him quickly and tightly. "Breathe," he demanded, ignoring his own feelings for the time being. His friend needed him. Dream scowled, trying to push SapNap off. "Get off of me," he hissed, wanting to deny the need of a hug from his best friend. "Not until you calm the fuck down," SapNap retorted, Dream letting out a growl as he struggles grew weaker and weaker. "I–I said–" he hiccuped, leaning into SapNap and burying his face into his shoulder. He draped his arms around the male's figure, beginning to sob. The blonde gripped the back of SapNap's shirt, screwing his eyes shut as his body trembled. SapNap said nothing as he gently stroked Dream's disheveled hair, his tears still rolling down his face freely.
(Damn my oneshots are fuckin' merciless– also if what Quackity said isn't properly translated, don't come at me. Go after Google.)
