New Faces

Anya stood once again on the bridge of the USS Norfolk, watching as the three Japanese ship girls escorted them to Yokosuka, the naval base that her and captain Algerona would be spending the foreseeable future at.

"So.... Any certain worries that you have since you'll be staying as well?" Anya asked the woman standing next to her, now decked out in her uniform instead of the NWU's she had been wearing before. The admiral adjusted her own uniform as Sofia spoke.

"I'll be honest. I'm a lot more nervous now than I was when you first boarded the Norfolk. I figure I'd just be doing a touch and go, maybe stopping to refuel. But now that I'm staying... Well... You can say that it's a bit of a game changer...." Sofia replied as she looked over the last details of her uniform. As she did so, she watched the three ship girls glide across the water in front of them, seeming to be holding their own conversation with each other. "What do you think it's like? Being able to just glide across the water like that...."

"I imagine that it's a pretty pleasant feeling. But for right now, let's focus on making a good impression. The last American's these girls met didn't leave a great experience for them. We need to show them that we don't harbor any ill will towards any of them. This means don't give into any taunts or such they throw your way." Anya said, looking over at Sofia. The latter nodded in understanding.

"Well yeah. I'm not gonna go around picking fights with a bunch of Japanese warships who only need the slightest reason to see the American people under a negative light. I just fear for the warships we'll be bringing through...." Sofia answered in response. Anya nodded at this, seeing the sense in it all.

"Well that's good... I suppose we should get ready since Yokosuka is 10 minutes out." Anya offered. Sofia gave a nod, and soon enough, the two naval officers were making their way through the Norfolk, heading for their respective quarters.
-------------------------------------------

"I can't believe we have to work alongside... Them.... Of all people. I'd even take the British or the Germans if it meant not being within breathing distance of THEM...." The gray haired girl stated. The white headed girl next to her sighed, nocking another arrow into her bow as she pulled the string back, preparing for release.

"Zuikaku-nee, I think you're taking this a little far...." The white haired carrier informed her younger sister ship, releasing the arrow with a twang. The arrow soared through the air as it was on a direct path with the target. Soon enough, her aim proved true as the head buried itself within the bullseye of the target. However, instead of celebrating for the keen aim, she merely nocked another arrow into place as she prepared another shot. Zuikaku however, merely looked at Shokaku with a disbelieving expression.

"You can't be serious Shokaku-nee.... These are our enemies. They shouldn't be allowed to just have half of our base like they own the place. I swear, the second I come face to face with one, I'm giving them what for." Zuikaku reasoned. A loud laugh was heard from further down the range, the owner of the voice just releasing another arrow into her target.

"Weren't you the one gushing over the chance of meeting Enterprise the other day?" The purple spiky haired girl stated. Zuikaku let out a short growl at this, wheeling on the girl within seconds.

"Shut it Jun'you. That was admiration for a fellow carrier, not the enemy." She bit back. Jun'you just laughed, shaking her head.

"Doesn't it suck when it's the same thing?" She asked. Zuikaku let out a sigh of agitation as she fired back.

"What? And you're A-okay with them just coming to our base and training here?" She asked. Jun'you shook her head.

"That's not what I'm saying. But there's little that can be done about it now and they're not our enemies any longer. So how about you stop calling them some low, slanky slur and just call them American." The purple haired carrier stated. Zuikaku bit her tongue in annoyance as she grew silent.

"The world has changed since we were first built. Wars end and alliances break. New bridges are built and new allies are found. There's no use to harbor ill will towards those who no longer would do the same to us." A voice stated from behind the three. Zuikaku rolled her eyes at the voice, calling back without turning her head.

"Going soft on the Americans, eh Kaga?" Zuikaku asked in a snarky manner. She heard a quiet no as Kaga approached the firing line with her own bow.

"No. But such a petty feud is not needed in such a day and age." The upper carrier stated. "But make no mistake. I am not pleased at the idea of sharing a base with those that sank so many of us during the war." She finished. She was followed by another voice.

"Speaking of which, if we get another Carrier from them with the same appetite as Akagi, we're gonna be in some serious trouble." Chitose added as a side note. "Speaking of Akagi, where is she?" The light carrier asked. Kaga prepared to fire off an arrow as she answered, her face showing little change in emotion.

"She's at Houshou's with Yamato and Musashi. Houshou was actually planning to come shoot with us today." Kaga stated, releasing her arrow from her bow. The other carrier's made a noise at this.

"Houshou shooting? I thought she didn't anymore, not after all of us arrived. We're more advanced than her after all." Chiyoda stated, sitting off to the side, making sure her arrows were in fine condition. Kaga gave a nod, preparing another arrow.

"She wants to make a good impression on someone named Langley when she arrives. Houshou apparently looks forward to meeting her...." She explained. Zuikaku arched a brow at this, about ready to explode.

"She wants to meet an American? Why the hell would she?" Zuikaku asked quite lividly. Shokaku was the one to answer her question.

"Houshou is the mother to the Japanese Carriers. To us. You understand this correct?" The white headed carrier asked. The others slowly nodded. "Well, Langley is just that. Except to our American counterparts." She informed them. Jun'you let out a laugh.

"Bet she wants to brag about how great her children are." The alcoholic carrier exclaimed. Chitose shook her head.

"Whether or not, I don't think Yokosuka will be the same after this....." She muttered quietly as she fired off another arrow. However it didn't stay quiet as two destroyers, Fubuki and Mutsuki ran in. Each carrier turned their heads to the two, waiting expectantly from the breathless destroyers.

"There's an American ship pulling in...." Fubuki almost yelled after catching her breath. The carriers traded glances before nodding and following the destroyers out of the firing range to go and see just what kind of Americans they'd be dealing with.
-------------------------------------------

Soon enough, the group of five carriers and two destroyers approached the front of the Naval Base, soon spotting a group of four ahead of them. Akagi, Houshou, Yamato, and Musashi. The four seemed to be focused on something. And as the carrier dominant group drew closer, it became apparent just what they were looking at.

A large gray ship was just pulling into port, the deck crew busy tying the ship down and securing it so they could begin unloading. An American flag flew on the mast, waving in the wind, as if to greet the observing ship girls.

"So it's really happening....." Musashi muttered. Yamato gave her small pat on the back along with a small smile of reassurance. The younger of the two merely sighed, accepting what was happening as fact.

The Americans were here. And the ship sitting in front of them was proof enough. The group of eleven continued to watch in silence for a while, curiosity keeping them glued to the spot. The only thing on their mind at the moment. What would the American admiral be like? Would he be easy going and relaxed? Would he be harsh and unforgiving? Would he be a giant pervert?

Zuikaku sighed in agitation, and was about to walk away, but found herself in mid-stride when she spotted her own admiral heading towards them, flanked by Nagato and Mutsu.

"Ladies." Admiral Ishigara greeted in a positive tone. Ishigara was an interesting person. He was in charge of the Fleet Girl program because of his experience with the Abyssal war both before and after the Ship Girls arrived on the scene. He was an easy going man when he wanted to, but could be a wall of iron when needed to be.

"Admiral." The ship girls responded in unison. The man looked over the group to the American destroyer, watching with interest. He then turned his attention to Shokaku.

"Before we kick this off, did you consider what I asked? You too Akagi." The admiral asked. Shokaku and Akagi nodded, making Zuikaku look between the three in confusion.

"Shokaku-nee, what is he talking about?" Zuikaku asked, still rather clueless. Her Admiral soon ended her confusion as he explained.

"Akagi and Shokaku have agreed to train the first few American carrier girls until they get it down. Same for Nagato and Mutsu with the Battleships and Atago and Takao with the cruisers. Still trying to find suitable teachers for the Destroyers and Subs." He explained, making Zuikaku reel back in shock.

"What?!?! Why wasn't I informed of this?" She asked rather quickly. The admiral gave a sigh.

"At first I offered it to Akagi and Kaga, but Kaga seemed apprehensive about the idea. So I gave the choice to Shokaku who agreed. I kept you in the dark because I knew you'd react like.... Well like you are now.... Anyways, enough of this. Nagato, Mutsu. Come. We are to meet the American admiral and her XO." He finished, making those besides Nagato and Mutsu look at him with shock and surprise.

"Her? And there's two of them?" Fubuki asked nervously, a new sense of curiosity creeping over her. The Admiral nodded.

"3 star Admiral Anya Johnson and Captain Sofia Algerona will be the two in charge of the American ship girls. Now, listen here. I don't care if you don't get along with their ship girls. I'm actually expecting some fights to occur here and then. But don't you dare disrespect those two in their presence. Am I clear?" He asked sternly. The ship girls nodded, Zuikaku after hesitating a few moments. The Admiral gave a satisfied nod and continued to walk towards the ship but stopped when he came next to the Yamato sisters.

"I want you two to come greet them as well. That alright?" He asked. Yamato and Musashi gave a nod as they fell in step behind Nagato and Mutsu, the five now heading towards the walkway that was being deployed from the American destroyer.
-------------------------------------------

Anya stepped out onto the open deck , her possessions In two separate duffel bags currently over her right shoulder. She held her admiral's cap in her left hand as she looked over her uniform one final time.

Her white admiral's uniform stood out against the gray coloring of the destroyer, seeming to make her appear extra bright. She secured her hat to her head as she turned back to find Sofia just coming up behind her. Her captain's uniform had much of the same effect as she carried only one duffel bag with her.

They put their bags off to the side as they stood for a moment, looking over Yokosuka, finding various groups of girls watching the ship with curiosity. They numbered any where from 2 all the way up to 9 in gatherings. Anya and Sofia watched for a moment before a the latter spotted a group of five, 1 man and 4 women, heading towards the ship. Sofia gave Anya's arm a nudge.

"Looks like we've been spotted..." Sofia stated, looking down at the group. Anya let her gaze follow to where Sofia had mentioned and found herself looking at the Japanese admiral in charge of the base. Anya pushed away from the railing of the ship as she gave a hand signal for them to come up. The admiral gave a quick nod, motioning to the four behind him as he began to ascend the walkway. The four girls however seemed to be hesitant about the idea of boarding an American ship.

After a moment of quiet deliberating, the one with the short brown hair gave a short chuckle as she began to ascend first. The other three shortly followed. Soon enough, Anya and Sofia were face to face with the five. The admiral was watching the two U.S. Officers while the four seemed to be looking around the ship and watching the various crew as they moved around.

"Admiral Johnson and Captain Algerona I presume?" The white clad Japanese admiral asked, his English the basics of perfection. The two U.S. Navy officers nodded. Anya spoke as he finished.

"Admiral Ishigara is it?" She asked. The man gave a nod, indicating her question to be correct.

"Yes, that's me. May I say welcome to Yokosuka Naval base." He stated. "Now as I'm sure you're already aware of, I brought a few others aboard your ship. Girls, if you will." He said. The four that had accompanied him went into a line formation, lining up behind their Admiral. He stepped to the side as he introduced the four of them to the two.

"You will most likely recognize the names immediately. First, we have Nagato and Mutsu." He introduced the first two. Anya and Sofia studied the two. Anya could see some resemblance in the two. But Nagato looked strikingly different with her long black hair compared to Mutsu's own shorter brown hair. The only thing that was immediately recognizable as any correlation in the two was the outfit they adorned.

"It's a pleasure to meet you two." Anya offered as a greeting. "You two were remarkable in the pacific war. To be standing face to face... Well... It's almost dream like..." Anya stated, her eyes full of wonder. Nagato and Mutsu simply nodded, caught slightly off guard with the compliment. Admiral Ishigara gave a small chuckle as he spoke.

"If you two would not mind it, I ask Nagato and Mutsu be allowed to train the first few American Battleship girls that come through, just to help them get used to their new forms." He suggested. Anya looked over at Sofia for a brief moment, as if silently discussing the option. After a few seconds, Anya turned her attention back to the admiral with a nod.

"I think that would do fine. I'm guessing you have recommendations for the other classes as well?" She asked. Ishigara nodded but put up a hand.

"Yes, but we'll discuss that later. Now it's time that I introduce the other two." He stated as he stepped over to the other side, close to the second pair. Anya couldn't help but notice key differences in the two, one being that the second had a darker skin tone than the first. Plus, the lighter skinned one seemed content with a parasol in her hands.

"These two are the legendary Yamato sisters. Yamato and Musashi. I'm sure they need no explanation." The admiral said. Anya and Sofia went wide eyed for a moment before giving a nod. The admiral chuckled.

"There is a reason I am introducing these four to you. They will act as liaisons between yourselves and the other ship girls. Hopefully, we'll only need this until everyone gets used to each other." He explained. The two nodded as they waited for him to continue.

"Alright then, if that's all for right now at the time being, we will show you to your quarters and the American girl's dorms." The admiral explained. The two nodded as they picked up their bags.

"Lead the way." Anya stated. The admiral nodded, turning on his heel to lead the way, followed by his four ship girls. Anya and Sofia traded a quick glance before they followed as well.
