Title (5/5):
I really love the title. It suits the book, and is a unique and hooking one.
Cover (5/5):
The cover is excellent! I really like it! However, the text is slightly hard to read. If the splash of black is moved slightly, so that it covers the entire text, it will be perfect! Also, some of the text is cropped out, so I ask the author to put the text at the bottom a little higher up. Otherwise, I really love it!
Blurb (4/5):
The blurb is awesome! It contains the right amount of information, doesn't give away too much, and is just enough to capture the readers attention. The length is great, and I love the inclusion of the excerpt in it. However, I have provided another version of the blurb. The excerpt is great, so I won't rewrite it. The author can choose to keep the one that's already written, or they can choose to use the one that I've provided.
My version of the blurb (excluding excerpt and other information):
When Aaliyah Taylor engages herself in the pursuit of a mysterious man who she's never met, she faces some huge problems. After all, hunting the most influential man in the state could never be a mission that's risk-free. Other than that, Aaliyah's juggling with other problems, trying to make everything work.
With the crazily dangerous mission, an unbearable guilt that she's carrying, and the love of her life's constant desperate attempts to stop her, will Aaliyah achieve her goal?
✪✪✪✪✪✪✪✪
Once again, this version of the blurb doesn't have to be used.
Genre (5/5):
Definitely action-mystery. This doesn't even need to be said.
Originality (10/10):
The book was completely original. Nothing seemed the slightest bit cliché, and that really intrigued me. The plot, the way it's written, and every other factor of the book is completely original, and the idea behind the entire book is insanely creative. This definitely acts as a hooking point in the book, and is a brilliant feature! So, I would really like to commend the author on his/her/their awesome imagination and creativity!
Description (9/10):
The amount of description given in the book was perfect. The emotions of each character were displayed beautifully, and the settings were also described when needed. The emotions of the characters are definitely a key point in every book, and I'm really glad that they were described. Some books tend to focus more on the plot, and completely forget the fact that not providing descriptions makes one's writing seem monotonous. However, this book did not disappoint!
Character Development (10/10):
The character development was one of the most impressive parts of the book. Each character was displayed in a unique way, with different characteristics. This made the chance of a person relating to a book higher, and I always say that that is a great feature! If a person can relate to your book, he/she/they will have a higher chance of continuing to read. Each character was developed slowly, but surely, making the transition seem natural. I truly am impressed with the character development, and really commend the author on it!
Plot (10/10):
The plot was simply fantastic! The originality was out of this world, and I loved every second of the book! The plot made the entire story, and I loved it. The imagination was incredible, and the uniqueness made me want to read more and more. Each and every paragraph gave some new information in a different form, either clearly stated, or hiding between the lines.
The plot flowed in a logical pattern. I really loved the fact that the author provided a bit of what was currently happening, and then would rewind to give the readers an insight on the characters past. This made the plot even more interesting than it already was, and I would like to give the author a huge "AWESOME job!" on that.
Structure (5/5):
The structure was great! The overall layout of the book was perfect, and the sequence of the chapters was unique. However, I can't imagine it being any other way. As I've mentioned before, the author gives a bit of an insight on what happened in the characters past, and then moves on, writing about the current events. This is a brilliant hooking factor, and I commend the author on it!
Grammar (13/15):
The grammar was great, but definitely not perfect. I know that the author's first language is not English, and judging by that, an awesome job has been done on the grammar. However, I would like to help the author out on the grammar. I ask her/him/them to use an app, such as Grammarly, or just send the book over to an editing center when it's completed. The book's grammar is truly not bad, but it would attract even more attention if the grammar was perfect. However, I didn't notice any typos, and that is excellent! I have provided a few examples of the incorrect grammar below.
Example 1:
What it was; I rock myself back and forth desperately trying to to regulate my breathing, soothed as my back rhythmically clashes with my bedhead.
Should be; I rock myself back and forth, desperately trying to regulate my breathing, soothed as my back rhythmically clashes with my bedhead.
Example 2:
What it was; I had waited for this moment for so damn long, I had worked to get to this so damn hard.
Should be; I had waited for this moment for so damn long. I had worked to get to this point so damn hard.
Example 3:
What it was; As on cue, the prick entered the bar like he owned the building.
Should be; As if on cue, the prick entered the bar like he owned the building.
✪✪✪✪✪✪✪
These are only a few of the examples. But the grammar can be made better with the help of the things that I've already mentioned.
Vocabulary/Spelling (10/10):
As I've mentioned before, there were no typos. The words were spelt correctly, and nothing was wrong with the spelling. Same goes for the vocabulary. The vocabulary is perfect for the book. Words were used correctly, and I can definitely see the use of descriptive language wherever it's needed. So well done on that!
Overall enjoyment (10/10):
I loved the book! It was fresh, new and simply phenomenal! With a few exceptions, such as the grammar, the book is definitely perfect! It can reach great levels of success with the right kind of publication, such as putting it up for awards, or even encouraging other's to read it by asking them privately or on their message board.
For the author: Your book is truly amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! Keep writing as amazingly as you do today! Thank you so much for asking me to review your brilliant book for you!
