Betrayed By Family
Kanan's Pov.
I awake to feel no more pain. I thought it was odd but I just shook that feeling off. I was waking to the cockpit, thinking of what I should do today, when I was hit with a sudden pain in my head. I leaned against the hallway wall, trying to make the pain stop.
It wasn't like all my pain yesterday. It was...different. Different in a way I couldn't explain it. The pains' force signature was coming from something- or someone- in the Ghost. 'That's really strange,' I thought to myself as I turned myself in the direction of the pain signature. I started walking in the direction of the signature and soon found myself sensing Ezra and Zeb's cabin door before me. 'Oh no! Ezra!' I shouted in my head. I forced the locked door open and used the force to scan my surroundings. What I saw made my mouth fall open and my hands grab two-part lightsaber that was hanging on my belt.
Ezra had an open Sith holocron two inches above his hands, his eyes reflecting the eerie red light. His face was stuck in a scared, wide eyes face position as I drew my blue blade.
"Ezra, how could you?!" I stammered through tears.
"Kanan, it's not- I'm just- look it's nothing important!" I heared Ezra firmly say back to me.
"You betrayed me. I told you never to use the Darkside. Why, Ezra? Why'd you do this?" I asked him, still fighting my tears.
There was a moment of silence, until Ezra whispered, "Because Maul is my master now."
I screamed and lunged at him. He wasn't ready, but he managed to block my attack with his new green saber. Tears poured out from under my eye mask. One of my crew members, one of my family members, was betraying me. The one I thought of as a son was turning against the rebellion and all that we should for.
I stopped attacking because I just couldn't bring myself to really fight him. That was a big mistake. I felt my scream echo in the room before I even felt the saber collide with my shoulder. I heard the sickening plunk of left arm hitting the ground. The left side of my new shirt was dampening as my blood soaked the green fabric. I heard Ezra leave the room.
I collapsed on the ground, frozen in shock. Before falling unconscious, I screamed one last loud scream that held all my hurt and my padawan's betrayal in it.
