January 5th

Today has been relaxing but busy Wednesday at the Emhoff-Harris household at the Naval Observatory!

Kamala and Doug had a few early morning Zoom meetings, Doug had a few phone calls and interviews and Kamala had her regular morning meeting at the White House with Joe!

However, this afternoon Kamala and Doug don't have anything planned or much to do except spend it with their almost five month old son, Devi!

Kamala and Doug's friends from the senate Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, Amy Koblachar and Chuck Schumer as well as Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi are coming over to spend time and catch up with Kamala, Doug and Devi!

Kamala has been really close friends with Cory, Elizabeth, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy, since she has known them when she became a senator in 2017!

Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy all have Christmas presents for Devi! Due to everyone traveling for the holidays and Cory and Elizabeth having covid, they haven't been able to meet with Kamala, Devi and Doug until today!

Right now, Kamala is cleaning up around the house some while Doug has been cleaning the bathrooms and the master bedroom.

"When is everyone coming over to hang out, baby?" Doug asks Kamala as he walks over to Kamala and squeezing her into a hug, causing Kamala to smile and giggle.

"They should be here within the next fifteen minutes!" Kamala says with a big cheeky grin as she hugs Doug back and kisses him a few times.

"I love you, Kam. I love you, Devi and our baby girl so so much." Doug says softly Kamala, causing her to blush and smile.

"Aww, you are sweet! And I love you too, Dougie." Kamala says with a cheeky grin at Doug, rubbing his cheeks and kissing him again.

"Is Devi still asleep? When I was upstairs cleaning the bathrooms and our bedroom he still was." Doug says to Kamala and Kamala grabs the baby monitor to check on Devi.

Kamala and Doug both happily look at the baby monitor and they see Devi peacefully still taking his early afternoon nap. Devi is laying on his back with a green pacifier in his mouth.

"He has been sleeping for a while now. Do you think he is okay?" Doug asks in some worry which Kamala finds extremely cute since Doug is very protective of everyone he loves.

Kamala is a first time parent with Devi while Doug is a third time parent and should know all of these things, but he has forgotten a lot of things since both of his kids are in their 20's now.

"He is good! Don't worry. He is in another growth spurt according to this baby app on my phone. He will be awake soon, I can tell because by how much he is moving around right now." Kamala says to Doug and Doug smiles.

"You know I am a worrywart sometimes." Doug says as softly his cheeks blush.

"I know you are and you are so adorable. But I promise you he is okay. Devi is just having a growth spurt and needs more sleep." Kamala says with a smile as she hugs Doug again.

Kamala and Doug continue to clean the house and hang out while they wait for Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy to arrive!

The Naval Observatory door bell rings twice and Kamala happily gets up from the couch and walks over to the front door!

"I'm coming! I'm coming!" Kamala yells playfully at whoever is ringing the door bell.

Kamala opens the front door and happily sees Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy all standing together with many Christmas presents in their hands.

"Hi, guys! Come on in, make yourselves at home!" Kamala says happily with a humungous smile on her face as Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy all walk into the house.

Kamala, Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy all walk into the living room together with Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy putting all of the bags down before they each give Kamala a big hug.

"It is so good to FINALLY see you sis!" Cory says, squeezing Kamala into a hug.

"It is so good to see you brother and all of you! How are you feeling, Cory! And you too, Elizabeth? How are you two since having covid? Also, let's sit down and chat! We need to catch up!" Kamala says to Corey, Elizabeth, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy as they all sit down on the couches.

"I feel a little tired still but I feel great other than that! What about you, Cory?" Elizabeth says to Kamala and Cory.

"Without the three vaccines, I would have been so sick! I'm still tired as well but I'm getting better each day." Cory says to everyone.

"I am so grateful that Doug or myself haven't gotten it. We are extremely careful! I mean, we would be both fine if we got it but we are more worried about Devi catching it. Also Jacob too since we see him a lot." Kamala says to Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy.

"We got to keep those little babies safe! Since they aren't old enough to get vaccinated just yet, all of us need to work hard and keep them safe." Amy says out loud with everyone agreeing with her.

"My boys are both fully vaccinated! Easiest decision I probably ever made as a parent. A lot of their friends have either had covid or their parents have had it and they don't want it." Kirsten says to everyone.

"Rosario's daughter is vaccinated! Isabella made the choice herself since she is an adult now and of course Rosario supported her choice and so do I. I'm just glad she is vaccinated as well." Cory says to everyone.

"Both of my children and grandchildren are vaccinated! I'm so happy all of them have that protection." Elizabeth says with a grin.

"Everyone in my family is vaccinated except my grandson Noah because he isn't old enough." Chuck says as Nancy nods and lays her head on Chuck's shoulder, causing Kamala to awe loudly and happily.

"Oh the love birds!" Kamala says playfully to Chuck and Nancy as Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten and Amy all laugh loudly.

"Oh, you and Doug don't know?" Chuck asks Kamala and Kamala gets confused on what Chuck is talking about.

"Don't know what?" Kamala asks Chuck on confusion.

"Chuck proposed on New Years! We are getting married!" Nancy says as Kamala gasps happily.

"WHAT! Oh my gosh! That's amazing! Congratulations!" Kamala says as she cheers and hugs both Chuck and Nancy.

"Thank you!" Chuck and Nancy both say in unison with big cheeky smiles.

"Jeez you guys don't tell me anything!" Kamala says playfully to Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten and Amy, causing all of them to laugh.

"I thought you already knew, sis!" Cory says to Kamala with a giggle.

"I just found out yesterday!" Amy says as she giggles too.

"Do Joe and Jill know?" Kamala asks both Nancy and Chuck.

"We just told the before we got here! Nancy and I wanted to give Jacob his Christmas presents!" Chuck says with a cheeky grin. 

"Doug and I are always the last ones to find things out! Let me see your ring, Nancy!" Kamala says as she laughs loudly and Nancy shows Kamala her big and gorgeous engagement ring.

"Oooo! That is gorgeous! Chuck did a great job!" Kamala says with a big smile.

"Speaking of baby, where is your little man, Kamala?" Nancy asks Kamala with a big smile.

"Yes! Where is our nephew, sis!" Cory says with some sass at Kamala.

"He is still taking his afternoon nap! Four month sleep regression has been rough plus now he is having a growth spurt so it's been a lot!" Kamala says as she chuckles and smiles.

"Aww, poor little guy! I remember that regression with Abigail, it was super rough!" Amy says to Kamala.

"Jacob has had a harder time than Devi has, but it is really hard seeing your baby having trouble falling asleep." Kamala says to everyone.

"That's what Joe and Jill said when we saw them!" Chuck says and Nancy nods in agreement.

Just then, Doug walks into the living room holding a sleepy Devi in his arms.

*Devi's outfit*

"Aw! Someone is a sleepy boy!" Elizabeth says as she awes at Devi along with Cory, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy.

"He is! He just woke up!" Doug says, kissing Devi's cheek happily.

"Hi, Devi! Hi, cutie!" Amy says in a babyfied voice at Devi.

"Hi, baby boy! Hi, sweet boy! You have the cutest bed head!" Nancy says with a cheeky grin.

Chuck does silly and fun faces at Devi and Devi giggles at him.

"Hello, nephew! Hi! You are so handsome!" Cory says with a big smile.

"Nancy and Chuck are engaged! We are the last ones to find out!" Kamala says playfully to Doug.

"Oh my goodness! Congratulations! Are we invited to the wedding?" Doug says playfully to Chuck and Nancy causing everyone to laugh.

"Of course! All of you are!" Nancy says with a smile and Chuck smiles too.

Doug hands Devi to Kamala to hold. Kamala smiles at Devi and gives him some kisses.

"Hi, baby! Hi!" Kamala says in a babyfied voice at Devi and Devi babbles at his Mama causing Cory, Chuck, Nancy, Amy, Kirsten and Elizabeth to all smile.

"Kam, show them what he can do now!" Doug says to Kamala and Kamala smiles.

"Yes yes! We need to! Devi, let's show everybody what you and do now!" Kamala says as she carefully puts Devi on the floor and Devi rolls over!

"Yay! Devi! Yay!" Kirsten cheers happily at Devi.

"Great job!" Chuck says with a smile.

"Oh my gosh, look at him! Oh he is going to be crawling soon! Look at him!" Amy says as she enjoys watching Devi wiggle and roll around.

"His hair is so beautiful!" Elizabeth says as she softly rubs Devi's head.

"He has his Mama's hair that's for sure! Just my hair color!" Doug says with a proud smile.

"He is getting so big!" Nancy says happily.

"He really is! I can't believe how big he is now!" Cory says to Kamala and Doug.

Kamala, Doug, Cory, Chuck, Nancy, Amy, Kirsten and Elizabeth all continue to talk while Devi plays on his play mat!

"Let's do presents! Let's do presents now!" Amy says with excitement. 

"Oh my goodness! You guys didn't have too!" Doug says to Cory, Chuck, Nancy, Amy, Kirsten and Elizabeth.

"Yes, we did!" Nancy, Amy, Kirsten and Elizabeth all say in unison to Kamala and Doug.

"Can I hold him?" Nancy asks Kamala with a cheeky smile.

"Of course you can! All of you can hold him!" Kamala says as she hands Devi to Nancy to hold for a while.

Kamala and Doug begin to open up all of Devi's Christmas presents for him while Devi gets passed around to everyone!

Devi babbles happily enjoying all of the time with Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy!

"You got so many presents baby! Oh my goodness!" Kamala says to Devi in a babyfied voice causing Devi to smile and babble.

"Your Auntie Nancy, Auntie Kirsten, Auntie Amy, Auntie Elizabeth, Uncle Cory and Uncle Chuck have spoiled you so much!" Doug says as Devi babbles happily.

Cory places Devi on his play mat and Devi happily plays with his toys while he rolls around and babbles!

Kamala, Doug, Nancy, Chuck, Elizabeth, Cory, Amy and Kirsten all continue to hang out for a few more hours!

Doug, Kamala and Devi all had a wonderful few hours with Elizabeth, Cory, Kirsten, Amy, Chuck and Nancy! :)
