*After a few day hospital day, Kamala, Doug and Devi head home! Kerstin, Cole, Greenley, Ella and Sam are in town visiting!*

August 10th, 2021

After being in the hospital for two days, Kamala and Devi are being discharged from the hospital and the family of three is heading home to the Naval Observatory!

Doug's ex-wife Kerstin, children Cole and Ella, Cole's girlfriend Greenley and Ella's boyfriend Sam flew from California to DC and they going to be staying with Doug, Kamala and Devi for a few days to visit and meet Devi!

Kamala and Doug have both been really enjoying the peace and quiet from the press, from work and from their busy schedules. Kamala and Doug are also enjoying this time with their baby boy Devi.

Devi is a really sweet and calm baby. Devi rarely cries, only crying when he is really hungry.

Devi passed all of his newborn tests that hospitals do and he has gained a few ounces, not loosing any weight like most newborns do!

Right now, Kamala is taking a relaxing and warm shower before getting dressed to leave the hospital while Doug is managing to eat a sandwich and also feed Devi his bottle.

Doug has been doing nights with Devi so Kamala can sleep and get much needed rest. Doug doesn't want Kamala to do much until she heals from the delivery.

Kamala really appreciates that her husband wants her to rest and not do much but Kamala hates to sit around and not doing anything. Plus, Kamala feels great for just having a baby two days ago and she isn't in much pain.

"Mmm, is Mama's milk good? Is it yummy? Mmm! You are a hungry boy!" Doug says in soft voice as Devi happily drinks his bottle.

Kamala's breastmilk came in yesterday and she has been learning how to breastfeed Devi as well as pump breast milk.

Kamala will most likely pump breastmilk for Doug or someone else to feed Devi due to her busy work schedule as Vice President. Devi will also get formula if needed!

Doug manages to finish his lunch while finishing feeding Devi! 

"Good boy, Devi! You ate it all! Good boy! Let's get a nice burp now." Doug says softly as he carefully places Devi on his shoulder and he begins to burp him.

After a few seconds, Devi gives a few small burps, causing Doug to giggle.

"Good boy, Devi! Let's gets you all dressed before Mama is all done!" Doug says as he lays Devi on Kamala's hospital bed.

Doug begins to take off Devi's clothes he had on yesterday which was a plain teal onesie with matching pants and hat.

"We are going home today, buddy! Yay! You are going to meet your big sister, Ella and big brother Cole! You are going to meet your Aunt Keke, Ella's boyfriend Sam and Cole's girlfriend Greenley! All of them love you so so so much!" Doug says in a babyfied voice as he gets Devi dressed and ready to head home!

Devi coos as he moves his arms and legs around, causing Doug to smile. Doug is absolutely loving every moment of being a third time dad and he loves parenthood with Kamala.

Doug finishes getting Devi dressed and ready for the day and Devi does a big yawn, clearly tired from getting dressed.

"There you go, Devi! You are all dressed and ready to go home! Now we need to wait for Mama and then wait for the doctor to discharge Mama!" Doug says softly to Devi as he holds the newborn close to him.

Devi coos some as Doug holds him and walks around the hospital room which Devi likes.

Doug and Devi walk over to the window, enjoying the view from their hospital room.

"Today is such a beautiful day out! Yes, it is!" Doug says softly to Devi as Devi "looks" out the window as well even though newborns vision can't see much.

Just then, Kamala walks out of her hospital room's bathroom, wearing one of her baggy Howard University t-shirts and a pair of baggy black sweatpants. Kamala's hair is up in a ponytail and she doesn't have any makeup on.

Doug turns around and smiles at Kamala and Kamala smiles back at Doug.

"Hi, beautiful! Hi, Mama!" Doug says as he smiles at Kamala as he waves Devi's little hand.

"Hi, handsome! And hi, baby boy! Awe, my two boys!" Kamala says as she smiles at Doug and Devi before walking over to them.

Doug and Kamala softly kiss each other a few times before Doug hands Devi to Kamala.

"Hi, baby boy. Hi! Did you get your tummy full?" Kamala says to Devi softly as she smiles at him,

"He ate it all!" Doug says making Kamala smile proudly.

Kamala tenderly kisses Devi's cheek and she holds him as she rubs his back.

"Hopefully he won't mind drinking both breast milk and formula." Kamala says as she sits down on the hospital bed and Doug sits down next to him.

"I'm sure he won't. He seems like the baby that will eat anything you give him. I'm so proud of you and I love you." Doug says, kissing Kamala.

"I love you too, honey! And thank you for everything. You are truly the greatest man." Kamala says kissing Doug back

Thirty minutes later, Kamala's doctor discharges her and Devi from the hospital!

A nurse pushes Kamala in a wheelchair - which is hospital protocol and Doug is proudly holding Devi in his car seat!

Devi's car seat is covered by a car seat cover, just in case the press is outside wanting pictures!

The nurse, Kamala, Doug and Devi all walk outside and luckily there is no press outside to hound them or take a thousand pictures of them.

Two Secret Service agents take Doug, Kamala and Devi's hospital bags, putting them in the car's trunk while Doug helps Kamala into the car before getting Devi in the car.

Doug and Kamala both thank the nurse for everything she has done before they shut the car door.

"Oh my gosh, they cleaned out our car! Like deep cleaned it!" Kamala says as she looks around the car and chuckles loudly.

"They did! They must have scrubbed it too!" Doug says as he laughs and smiles at Kamala.

"Poor guys had a mess because of me!" Kamala says as she laughs loudly and smiles at Doug before kissing him a few times.

"I love you." Doug whispers making Kamala blush and smile.

"I love you too!" Kamala says as she holds Doug's hand and Doug kisses her hand, causing her to smile.

"This is Devi's first ever car ride! Yay! Yay!" Kamala says in a babyfied voice as she and Doug watch Devi sleep in his car seat while Secret Service drives the three of them home.

"Congratulations on baby Devi, Kamala and Doug!" Secret Service Agent Steve says with a big smile at Kamala and Doug.

"Congratulations!" Secret Service Agent Henry says to Kamala and Doug.

"Thank you, Steve and Henry!" Kamala says with a cheeky grin.

"Thank you!" Doug says to Steve and Henry with a grin.

Kamala, Doug and Devi all relax during their car ride home!

After a twenty five minute drive, Doug, Kamala and Devi are now home from the hospital!

"We are home, baby boy! Welcome home!" Kamala says in a babyfied voice at Devi as Devi continues to sleep happily.

"We are home, babe." Doug says with a cheeky smile at Kamala.

"We are home!" Kamala says as she hugs Doug tightly and Doug hugs her tightly back.

Doug then looks out the window and sees a cute sign in the front yard, causing him to smile.

"Aww! There is a sign outside in the yard!" Doug says as he looks out the car window happily.

Kamala looks out Doug window and sees the "It's A Boy" sign in the front yard.

"Oh gosh! Kerstin, Ella and Greenley must have gotten it for us! So sweet!" Kamala says as she smiles at Doug and Doug smiles back.

"I love you, honey." Doug says, softly kissing Kamala and Kamala blushes.

"I love you too!" Kamala says with a cheeky grin at Doug, kissing him again.

Doug gets out of the car first and helps Kamala out before picking up Devi's car seat.

"Let's go inside, baby boy!" Kamala says in a babyfied voice at Devi, smiling down at him.

The press begin to holler and cheer, causing Kamala and Doug to both smile at their excitement.

"IS IT TRUE THAT THE BABY IS ACTUALLY HERE?"

"HOW ARE YOU FEELING, KAMALA?"

"CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BABY BOY, VICE PRESIDENT AND SECOND GENTLEMAN!"

"WHAT IS THE BABY'S NAME?"

"WHEN WILL WE SEE THE BABY?"

Kamala and Doug both happily wave at the press and Doug carefully lifts up the covered car seat to "show" Devi off even though the press couldn't see him with the cover.

However the press did get the clue that the baby was in fact a baby boy, by the blue, white and gray blanket. The press also could also see the blanket has a D on it, indicating that his first name starts with the letter D. 

A few second later, Kerstin happily opens the front door of the Naval Observatory and cheers loudly, causing Kamala and Doug to both smile and chuckle at her.

"Welcome home, Kamala, Doug and baby Devi!" Kerstin says with a big smile on her face.

"Thank you, Kers!" Doug and Kamala both say in unison as they and Devi all walk into the house!

"It feels sooooo good to be home!" Kamala says happily as she walks through her house.

"It really does even though the hospital was very very nice!" Doug says with a grin.

Kerstin hugs Kamala and Doug and takes a peek of Devi, who is still sleeping in his car seat.

"The press have been here all morning! Do you think something leaked out?" Kerstin asks Kamala and Doug curiously.

"Maybe! But I think they put the dates together and assumed if Doug and I were gone from this house more then a day then we were having a baby." Kamala says as she chuckles and Kerstin chuckles too.

Kerstin, Kamala, Doug and Devi then all walk into the living room together! Cole, Greenley, Ella and Sam are all standing in the living room with flowers, balloons and a big teddy bear.

"Welcome home!" Cole, Greenley, Ella and Sam all say in unison to Kamala and Doug.

"Thank you, guys!" Kamala says as she tears up at all of the presents and decorations!

"Thank you! We are both so happy that all of you were able to fly in to visit!" Doug says with a cheeky smile.

"Hi, Momala and Dad!" Ella says as she gets excited, hugging Kamala and Doug tightly.

"Hey, Momala! Hey, Dad!" Cole says as he hugs Kamala and Doug.

"Hello, Mr. Doug and Ms. Kamala!" Greenley and Sam both say in unison to Doug and Kamala with cheeky grins.

"Let's all sit down and relax!" Kerstin says with a cheeky smile at everyone.

Doug and Kamala sit down together on one couch, Kerstin sits down in a chair, Sam and Ella sit down on the love seat and Cole and Greenley sit on the other couch.

Doug unbuckles Devi out of his car seat and he carefully takes him out. Devi coos a little covers his face with his hands, something he often did when Kamala had ultrasounds done of him.

"Aww, he is so little!" Greenley says as she admires the baby.

"Ella, Dad and I both know you really want to hold Devi first." Kamala says and Ella nods.

"Yeah, I did! But someone else can get a chance first!" Ella says softly, a little nervous to hold her baby brother.

"No, you can hold him first! You are his big sister!" Kerstin says with a grin at Ella.

"You can hold him first, Ella! Go ahead!" Cole says as Ella smiles, excited to finally have a younger sibling.

Doug gets up from the couch and walks over to Ella with Devi in his arms.

"Sam, Mom, Momala, take pictures!" Ella says making Sam, Kerstin and Kamala all giggle and smile at her excitement.

"Put your arms out like this. There you go. Just keep his head up while you hold him, okay?" Doug says to Ella and she nods.

Doug carefully puts Devi in Ella's arms and Ella's face lights up with a humungous smile.

"Finally a big sister!" Kamala says as she smiles and takes pictures of Ella and Devi together.

Devi coos and sticks his tongue out, causing Ella to laugh and smile at him.

"He is so dainty and cute." Ella says softly as she smiles down at Devi and admires him.

"He is so tiny! Babies look bigger in pictures." Sam says as he smiles at Ella and Devi.

"He looks so little!" Kerstin says as Doug and Kamala both smile.

Ella softly rubs Devi's head, feeling his curly black hair he has on his head. Devi's head is full of hair, no bald spot in sight.

"What color are his eyes?" Ella asks Doug and Kamala with a curiously smile.

"They look light brown like your Dad's eyes." Kamala says proudly with a cheeky smile.

"He looks just like Dad. Poor Kamala!" Ella says playfully, making Kamala giggle loudly.

"Devi looks a lot like his Mama. He has her lips and ears and eyelashes." Doug says as Kamala chuckles playfully.

"You and Cole look just like Dad too!" Kerstin says to Ella, making everybody laugh and smile.

"He is going to have my skin complexion too. You know how many times the nurses asked if he was jaundice? No, he is just part Indian. Trust me, he is fine." Kamala says causing everybody to chuckle.

"His skin looks so beautiful and so does his hair! So soft!" Kerstin says admiring her nephew.

After Ella holds Devi for twenty minutes, Kerstin gets a chance to hold Devi!

"Auntie Keke loves you! Yes, she does! Yes, she does! Hiiii!" Kerstin says in a babyfied voice at Devi.

"She will hold him all day!" Ella says with sass as everyone laughs.

"She has been waiting literally all day to hold him." Cole says playfully,

"She is excited to be an auntie!" Doug says as he yawns and holds Kamala in his arms.

"Why don't you two get some sleep? We got him!" Kerstin says to Kamala and Doug.

"We slept in late this morning." Kamala says as she laughs and smiles at a sleepy Doug.

"We are just adjusting to having a newborn. But he is a really good baby." Doug says to Kerstin with a smile.

"Doug has been doing night duty. He won't let me do it." Kamal says to Kerstin and she laughs.

"He was the same way with Cole and Ella! You are the best baby ever! Yes yes yes!" Kerstin says in a babyfied voice at Devi again.

After a half an hour of holding Devi, Kerstin hands Devi to Cole to hold.

Cole smiles at Devi and holds him close, nervous about hurting Devi somehow.

"Keep his head up. There you go." Doug says to Cole with a cheeky grin.

"I don't know anything about babies." Cole says with a nervous giggle:

"It's okay! You are learning! You are doing great!" Kamala says as she watches the boys together.

"Why doesn't he do anything?" Cole asks sarcastically as he holds Devi in his arms for the very first time.

"Because he is only two days old, babe! Babies don't do anything for the first six months of their life." Greenley says to Cole as she takes pictures of Cole and Devi together.

Kamala and Kerstin also take pictures of the special moment for memories! 

"Cole, you asked that same exact thing when Ella was born when you were four years old." Kerstin says, reminiscing on newborn baby Ella and toddler Cole together.

"You asked Mom and I every single day when Ella was going to play with you and then when she finally did, you got annoyed with her." Doug says, causing Kamala to giggle and awe at the sweet memory.

"Sounds like Maya and I! I asked my mom when Maya will be able to play with me and she was the one that got annoyed with me asking her all of the time." Kamala says as she chuckles.

"Aww, now I want a baby to hold and cuddle with." Ella says to Sam as she and Sam watch Cole holding Devi.

"You guys, I don't think I'm ready to be a grandpa right now!" Doug says to Greenley, Cole, Sam and Ella as he playfully chuckles at the four of them.

"Me either! I'm too young to be a grandma, I think! Well, maybe not!" Kerstin says with a giggle and smile.

"I just became a Mama for the first time, I don't know if I can be a Mama and a grandma at the same time right now!" Kamala says as she laughs loudly.

"And Cole, you have learn about babies for when ours is born." Greenley says with a cheeky grin

"WHAT? COLE?" Doug asks out loud, thinking Cole and Greenley are actually having a baby.

"I didn't say I was pregnant now! I'm not! I'm not!" Greenley says as she laughs loudly at Doug thinking she was actually pregnant.

"I was about to flip out!" Kerstin says as Doug survives almost having a heart attack.

"You okay, Dougie?" Kamala asks Doug playfully and Doug nods, smiling at her.

"Yeah! I'm good! Greenley and Cole love to scare me over here!" Doug says with sass, causing Greenley and Cole to both laugh. 

"Eww, you and Cole actually do that?" Ella says playfully to Greenley and Cole, already knowing the answer is obviously yes.

"You and Sam do it too!" Cole says with sass back at his little sister and Ella playfully rolls her eyes.

"Your Mom, Momala, Devi and I don't want to hear what you four do in your bedrooms." Doug says as Kamala giggles.

"Well, you and Momala do it. I'm holding your baby as the proof." Cole says playfully, making Kamala laugh.

"Yes, Cole, we know. We both heard Dad with both Mom and Momala." Ella says as Kamala and Kerstin both screech and hide their faces while Doug blushes a deep deep red.

"Not at the same time! Oh my gosh!" Kerstin says to Ella, making sure that fact is known to everyone.

"You know what I mean, Mom!" Ella says a she laughs at Kerstin's horror and smiles.

"Oh God! What did we start, Dougie? We are probably going to be grandparents within a year!" Kamala says as she, Kerstin and Doug all laugh.

For the rest of the day, Doug, Kamala, Devi, Cole, Greenley, Ella, Sam and Kerstin all hang out as a family!
