*Kamala and Doug introduce their baby boy to family via Zoom!*

August 8th, 2021 - 1:15am

Doug looks at his Apple watch and sees that it is 1:15am. Doug then calculates in his head that is it 10:15pm in California, where the majority of their family lives.

"Do you wanna call our family to let them know that Devi is here?" Doug asks Kamala softly and Kamala nods in excitement.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! Do you want to call the kids and Kerstin first?" Kamala asks Doug with a big smile.

"Sure! Hopefully they are all awake! I'm sure Cole and Ella both are, but Kerstin goes to bed early." Doug says as he gets the Zoom call of Cole, Ella and Kerstin ready on his iPhone.

Kamala looks down at Devi who is still awake, but is getting sleepy. Devi has one eye open and one eye closed.

"Are you ready to meet your big brother Cole, big sister Ella and Auntie Keke, Devi? Yeah!" Kamala says in a babyfied voice at Devi.

Doug begins to ring Cole, Ella and Kerstin and he, Kamala and Devi all wait for everyone to answer.

Ella answers the Zoom call first and she quickly sits down so she has a decent video background.

"Dad! Hey! What are you doing up this late? Usually you and Momala are in bed by now because of work!" Ella says as she giggles and smiles ear to ear at her dad.

"Hey, baby girl! And I know it is late, but someone  really really wants to meet you!" Doug says softly as he shows Kamala and Devi sitting together.

Devi is laying on Kamala's bare chest and is covered up with a gray baby blanket.

"Hi, Ella! Your baby brother Devi just wanted to say hi and meet you!" Kamala says softly with a big grin on her face.

Ella gasps loudly as she sees Devi's little head popping out of the gray blanket. Devi is now asleep and looks extremely cute. Ella begins to cry as she admires her little brother for the very first time.

"Oh my god! He is here! He is soooooo cute! When was he born?" Ella asks as she wipes away her happy tears away from her cheeks.

"Around an hour ago!" Kamala says as Ella smiles and admires Devi.

"He is so little and squishy! Aww! Usually babies are ugly when they are born but Devi is adorable!" Ella says as she giggles and smiles at Devi.

"He is little! Six pounds, ten ounces! Nineteen inches long!" Doug says proudly as he kisses Kamala's cheek.

"Did giving birth hurt, Momala?" Ella asks curiously making Doug and Kamala both laugh.

"Hell yeah it did! Having a water birth is amazing for pain and your dad was the best coach ever. He stayed with me the whole entire time and he helped me deliver Devi too." Kamala explains to Ella and Ella smiles.

"Woah! That's so cool! And Doug didn't faint during the labor or birth?" Ella asks playfully, causing Kamala to giggle loud and Doug to smile.

"Nope! I didn't pass out or faint!" Doug says with a grin and a giggle.

"Wow, that's a shocker!" Ella says with some sass causing Kamala to laugh again.

Just then, Cole and his girlfriend Greenley both appear on the Zoom call! The couple waves happily at Doug, Kamala and Devi.

"Hey, Momala and Dad!" Cole say with a grin at Kamala and Doug.

"Hello, Kamala and Doug!" Greenley says as she hugs Cole's arm and smiles.

"Hey, son! Hey, Greenley! Sorry for calling you two so late!" Doug says to Cole and Greenley.

"It's okay!" Cole and Greenley both say in unison to Doug. 

"Hi, Cole! Hi, Greenley! Someone really wants to meet you two as well!" Kamala says as Doug turns the iPhone around so Devi is shown to Cole and Greenley.

"Oh my gosh! Baby Devi is here! Congratulations!" Greenley says, getting very excited and happy to see her boyfriend's new little brother for the first time.

"What! Woah! Devi is here? Oh my God! I thought he wasn't due to come for another few days?" Cole asks as he gets excited and smiles at his new baby brother.

"Babies can come whenever they want, Cole! Once they are full term, they can be born and be just fine!" Kamala says and Doug nods in agreement.

"I see a lot of you in him, Momala! He is sooooo cute!" Ella says as she continues to wipe away her happy tears.

"Congratulations, Doug and Kamala!" Sam, Ella's boyfriend says as he joins Ella on the Zoom call.

"To me, he looks just like me, Doug and Grandpa!" Cole says, causing Doug and Kamala to smile and giggle.

"He looks just like a Emhoff man! I have to agree with that statement." Kamala says with a big and proud smile.

"I guess my genes are really strong, huh?" Doug asks playfully causing Ella, Sam, Cole and Greenley to all laugh.

Finally, Kerstin answers the Zoom call. Kerstin is standing in her bathroom since that room it has the most light and she has a red robe on.

"Finally you answered! Hey, Mom!" Ella says to Kerstin happily.

"Yeah, Mom! What took so long?" Cole says with some playful sass.

"Hey, Kerstin!" Doug and Kamala both say in unison with cheeky smiles at Kerstin.

"Sorry, I didn't hear my phone ringing! I was sleeping! Is everything okay? What's going on? Are you guys okay?" Kerstin asks both Doug and Kamala with some worry.

"Nothing is wrong! Nothing at all, don't worry! But..." Doug says as he shows Devi to Kerstin.

"Someone wants to meet their Auntie Keke!" Kamala says excitedly and Kerstin screams and gasps loudly causing Doug, Kamala, Cold, Greenley, Ella and Sam.

"OH! MY! GOSH! He is BEAUTIFUL! Oh, I am so happy for you guys!" Kerstin says as she begins to cry.

"Thank you!" Kamala and Doug both say in unison with big cheeky smiles on their faces.

"Look at him! He is so perfect! Look at his little face! He looks so much like his Mama!" Kerstin says as she admires her nephew.

"He sure is! He is very perfect." Kamala says as she kisses Devi's forehead.

"When was he born?" Kerstin asks both Doug and Kamala.

"12:07am this morning!" Doug says to Kerstin proudly.

"Aww! Happy birthday, sweet boy!" Kerstin says to Devi as Devi happily sleeps on Kamala's chest.

"He has a lot of hair too!" Kamala says, showing Kerstin, Cole, Ella, Greenley and Sam all of Devi's hair!

"He has more hair than Dad and I!" Cole says making everyone laugh.

"He isn't bald like I thought he would be!" Ella says as she grins and giggles.

"Oh my gosh! A head full of hair! Did you pass out, Doug? Kamala, he almost passed out when Cole was being born. Luckily, he did fine when Ella was born." Kerstin says as she chuckles, making Kamala laugh.

"No, I didn't pass out!" Doug says playfully to his ex-wife.

"Doug did great! I'm sure his arms, hands and back are going to be bruised for weeks from me squeezing on him. He even helped me deliver him." Kamala says with a proud smile.

"He tried to do that with Ella but felt sick." Kerstin says making Ella and Cole both laugh and smile.

After finishing the call with Kerstin, Cole, Greenley, Ella and Sam, Doug and Kamala talk with Doug's parents Barb and Mike!

Doug and Kamala accidentally woke the Emhoff's up but they were very excited to wake up to the news of birth of their new grandson, Devi!

"Hey, Mom and Dad! Someone really wants to meet you!" Doug happily says to his parents as he then shows Kamala and Devi together.

"Hey, Barb and Mike! Devi wanted to see his Grandma and Grandpa!" Kamala says as she smiles at Barb and Mike.

Barb gasps loudly as she begins to instantly cry at the sight of Devi while Mike smiles and cheers with excitement.

"You two did it! Congratulations, Doug and Kamala! He looks perfect!" Mike says with a humungous smile at Kamala and Doug.

"Thank you, Dad." Doug says with a cheeky grin.

"Thank you, Mike! Devi has those strong Emhoff genes!" Kamala says with a chuckle, causing Mike to laugh too.

"I see a lot of you in him as well! Beautiful mix of the both of you!" Mike says proudly.

"Oh my goodness! He is beautiful!" Barb says as she continues to cry, making Doug and Kamala smile.

Doug and Kamala then make plans with Barb and Michael for them to fly in from California to DC to visit for a few days in a few weeks!

Doug then calls Kamala's sister Maya and brother in-law Tony! Kamala admires Devi who is peacefully sleeping on her chest.

"Look at him sleeping. He is soooo stinking cute." Kamala says with a cheeky grin at Doug.

"So sweet like his Mama." Doug says as he kisses Kamala a few times.

After a few rings, Maya finally answers the Zoom call!

"DOUG! OH MY GOD! WAIT! IS HE HERE? IS DEVI HERE?" Maya yells with lots of excitement.

"Hey, Maya! Look who wants to meet his Auntie!" Doug says as he shows Kamala and Devi together in the hospital.

"Hi, Auntie! Hi, Auntie Maya!" Kamala says in a babyfied voice as she smiles down at Devi.

Maya gasps loudly as she begins to cry at the sight of her brand new nephew! Maya then screams in excitement of finally being an Auntie!

"What's wrong, Maya?" Tony asks in the background, making Doug and Kamala both chuckle.

"TONY! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! Kamala had the baby! Devi is here!" Maya yells happily for Tony.

"Oh wow!" Tony says as he quickly walks over and sits with Maya.

"Hey, Tony!" Doug says with a cheeky grin.

"Devi says hi Uncle Tony!" Kamala says in a babyfied voice as she smiles at Tony and Maya.

"Hey y'all! And hey little man!" Tony says happily to Kamala, Doug and Devi.

"HE IS SOOOOOO CUTE AND LITTLE!" Maya yells in a babyfied tone causing Kamala and Doug to laugh loudly.

"He is very handsome! Congratulations you guys!" Tony says with a big grin at his in-laws.

"Thank you!" Doug and Kamala both say in unison to Tony.

"Oh my gosh, Devi looks just like Doug if he was a Indian." Maya says as she and Kamala both bust out laughing, causing Doug to giggle too.

"He does! That's what I told Kamala. He looks so much like her!" Doug says as Kamala smiles and blushes at him.

"He is so beautiful!" Maya says with a big smile as she continues to admire her baby nephew.

"He is perfect. He is such a good baby. We are lucky." Doug says as he rubs Devi's cheek.

"How long was your labor, sis? How are you feeling?" Maya asks Kamala, wanting to know all of the details.

"I am a little sore but nothing bad! And I started feeling contractions at around 2:30pm and he was born at 12:07am. I only pushed a few times. It was super quick." Kamala explains to Maya.

"TEN HOURS? I was in labor with Meena for OVER A DAY! Not fair at all!" Maya says, making Kamala laugh loudly.

"I know! Everybody told me it was quick for being a first time mom! I'm so glad it was!" Kamala says as she kisses Devi's cheek.

"Oh my gosh! His time of birth is the date of Mommy's birthday! 12/7." Maya says, tearing up as she thinks about her and Kamala's mom, Shyamala who passed away twelve years ago.

"I know! I know. God, I miss her." Kamala says, tearing up as well and Doug rubs her back in support.

Both Kamala and Maya wished their mother was here today. To see Kamala finally find the love of her life Doug, Kamala's wedding, Meena graduating law school, Meena's wedding to Nik, welcome her two great grandkids Amara and Leela and now welcome her first ever grandson Devi.

"I miss her too. But she was definitely with you when Devi was born, making sure you two would be healthy, perfect and safe through our the whole thing." Maya says with a grin at Kamala as she stops tearing up.

"I definitely felt her here too. I know she would have loved a grandson." Kamala says as she smiles at Doug and Doug smiles back.

"And Doug!" Maya says, causing Doug to laugh loudly and smile.

"She would have loved Dougie! And Nik, Amara and Leela!" Kamala says with a big cheeky grin.

Maya and Tony talk about visiting with Kamala and Doug soon before ending the Zoom call!

"Okay! Let's call Meena and Nik now." Doug says as he yawns and finds Meena's number to call on his iPhone.

"Amara and Leela are probably sleeping! Aww, they are going to miss meeting baby Devi." Kamala says with a small pout.

"Meena will definitely wake them up. I betcha." Doug says playfully to Kamala as she laughs.

"Wanna bet on that?" Kamala says playfully at Doug, causing Doug to giggle at her.

"Yeah!" Doug says playfully back, making Kamala laugh and smile.

"You are so cute, Dougie. I love you." Kamala says softly to Doug.

"So are you, honey! And I love you too." Doug says as he kisses Kamala a few times.

Devi wiggles around in Kamala's arms as he continues to peacefully sleep. Kamala and Doug smile and admire their little man, still not believing he is even real!

"He loves his Mama so so much." Doug says softly to Kamala and Kamala smiles ear to ear at Doug and Devi.

"He loves his Daddy too!" Kamala says with a big smile at Doug.

Doug happily calls Meena and he and Kamala both patiently wait for her to answer the Zoom call. 

A few minutes later, Nik and Meena are shown on the screen with their pajamas on.

"Hey guys! What's up?" Nik says with a cheeky smile at Doug and Kamala.

"Hi, Nik and Meena! And we have been busy!" Doug says as he slowly shows Kamala and Devi together next to him.

"Hi, Meena and Nik! Devi is so happy to meet you!" Kamala says in a babyfied voice as she smiles ear to ear.

"Woah! He is here! That's awesome news! He is so little too!" Nik says as he smiles ear to ear.

Meena screams loudly as she jumps up and down and runs around the room.Doug and Kamala smile and laugh at her very happy reaction.

"OH MY GOSH! AUNTIE! UNCLE DOUG! OH MY
GOSH!" Meena says as she continues to cry the happiest tears.

"Can you see him okay?" Doug asks Meena and Nik and they both nod as they admire baby Devi.

"Yeah! Oh my gosh! He is soooooooooo cute, Auntie and Uncle Doug!" Meena says with a smile.

"He looks like Unclr Doug doesn't he?" Kamala says as she giggles and Doug's smile.

"Just like him! It's so cute!" Meena says as she gets excited and jump around some more.

"He was born at 12:07am tonight! Weighing in at six pounds, ten ounces and nineteen inches long.

"Oh my gosh! Grandma's birthday!" Meena says with a smile as she reminisces about her wonderful grandma who she misses dearly.

"I know! I know! Grandma would have absolutely loved having another grandchild finally." Kamala says as she tears up again and Doug smiles.

"Yes she would have! She would have spoiled Devi, Amara and Leela ROTTEN!" Meena says as she, Nik, Kamala and Doug all smile.

"Amara and Leela are spoiled enough now!" Nik says jokingly making himself, Meena, Kamala and Doug all laugh.

"When are you two having another one?" Meena asks Kamala and Doug playfully.

"We are one and done! Trust me on that!" Kamala says as she giggles, causing Meena to laugh too.

"It's her choice! I am very happy with just this little guy plus Cole and Ella." Doug says as Kamala nods in agreement.

"That's perfectly fine with us! Devi will be the baby of our family and be spoiled the most!" Meena says playfully, making Kamala and Doug both smile and giggle.

Just then, Amara and Leela both walk over to see who Meena and Nik were talking to and why Meena was yelling.

"Mama! Why you yelling?" Leela asks Meena with some sass.

"Yeah, Mama! Why were you yelling so loud!" Amara asks Meena, putting her hands on her hips.

"Because I am soooo excited!" Meena says, making Amara and Leela both excited as well.

"Look who is on the phone screen! It's Uncle Doug and Auntie!" Nik says pointing at the iPhone screen.

"AUNTIE! UNCLE DOUGIE!" Leela and Amara both yell with excitement as they wave at Kamala and Doug.

"Hi, girls! Auntie and I are so happy to see you two!" Doug says happily to Amara and Leela.

"Hi, Amara and Leela! Hi, pretty girls! Did Mama wake you two up?" Kamala asks playfully to Amara and Leela.

"Yeah!" Amara and Leela both say in unison with sass.

"Aww, I'm sorry! Mama is just so excited!" Kamala says to Amara and Leela and Doug smiles at the girls.

"Cited? Cited about what?" Leela asks Kamala with a cheeky smile.

"Yeah! Excited about what?" Amara asks Kamala as she smiles.

"Because look who is here!" Doug says as he shows Devi laying on Kamala's chest.

"Can you two see him?" Kamala asks Amara and Leela and both girls gasp and get extremely excited.

"DEVI! DEVI!" Leela yells as she gets excited as she looks at Devi sleeping on Kamala.

"It is Devi! That's right!" Doug says as he smiles at the girls.

"DEVI CAME OUT OF YOUR BELLY!" Amara yells as she claps her hands happily.

"He did! He was born this morning!" Kamala says to Amara and Leela.

"It's night time, Auntie!" Amara says as she giggles.

"It is early in the morning where we are!" Doug says to the girls, trying to get the five and three year old to understand.

"Remember we live in different time zones? Remember we talked about that?" Meena says to the girls and they remember.

"Oh yeah!" Amara says as she jumps up and down.

"Ohhhh!" Leela says as she giggles.

"Devi is nakey, Auntie!" Amara says as she watches Devi sleep on Kamala's chest.

"He is! He just has a diaper on right now! Uncle Doug is getting ready to put some pajamas on him." Kamala says to Amara and Leela.

"Babies aren't born with clothes on!" Nik says playfully making Meena, Amara, Leela, Kamala and Doug all laugh.

"He soo tute!" Leela says as she cheers happily.

"Yeah! Devi sooooo cute!" Amara says with a big smile on her face.

"He is cute isn't he? He loves you two so so much!" Kamala says happily to Amara and Leela.

"Me, Daddy, you two, Grandmama and Pop Pop are all going to fly to Washington DC in a few weeks for a few days so we can see Auntie, Uncle Doug and Devi!" Meena says to Amara and Leela.

"YAY!" Amara and Leela both say in unison with big cheeky smiles.

Kamala, Doug, Amara, Leela, Meena and Tony all continue to talk for a few more minutes before ending the Zoom call!

Kamala and Doug both smile at each other as they kiss each other.

"Amara and Leela were so excited to see Devi!" Kamala says with excitement and Doug smiles.

"They were! Their little questions were absolutely adorable too!" Doug says happily to Kamala.

"Oh yes! And you were right, Dougie. Meena woke them up." Kamala says as Doug giggles.

"I told ya!" Doug says with some playful sass, making Kamala smile.

Kamala then looks down at Devi, who is still peacefully asleep and has a finger in his mouth.

"I could just hold him all night long." Kamala says as she smiles and rubs his back.

"I know. It is so sweet." Doug says, kissing Devi's head.

"Let's call Joe and Jill and then you can cuddle with him. Devi needs some Daddy cuddles." Kamala says in a whisper as Doug smiles happily.

Doug pulls up Jill's number on his phone and calls her as he yawns a little, causing Kamala to grin.

"My two boys are sleepy." Kamala says, making Doug smile and Doug kisses Kamala.

After a few rings, Joe and Jill finally answer the Zoom call. Joe and Jill look a little disheveled but appear very happy under their covers.

"Oh my gosh! Hi, Doug! Is our grandson here?" Jill asks as she gets excited and puts her glasses on.

"Hi, Jill! And he sure is!" Doug says as he shows Kamala and Devi together.

"Devi says hi, Nana and Pop!" Kamala says in a babyfied voice at Jill and Joe.

"Oh my goodness! He is so beautiful, Kamala and Doug! Congratulations!" Jill says as Joe tries to get out of bed but Jill quickly stops him.

"Thank you so so much!" Kamala and Doug both say in unison with big smiles.

"He is very handsome!" Joe says with a big grin as he cuddles Jill in bed.

"He has lots of hair, Joe! You were right!" Kamala says as Doug takes off Devi's hat.

"Wow! Look at that hair! It looks so soft!" Jill says as she admires Devi.

"It is!" Kamala says with a big grin at Jill.

"Are your hands broken, Doug?" Joe asks playfully causing Doug, Jill and Kamala all laugh.

"Not broken but sore! It was all worth it!" Doug says with a chuckle as Kamala laughs.

"He looks so relaxed with his Mama! And he is so little!" Jill says as she continues to adore her new grandson.

"Six pounds ten ounces he weighed!" Kamala says to Jill proudly.

"Aw! He is bigger than Ashley was!" Jill says happily as Joe holds Jill close.

Kamala, Doug, Joe and Jill all continue to talk for a half hour.

"When we get back to DC on Friday, we will visit you three for the whole day! I am so excited to hold him and spoil him all day long!" Jill says with the happiest smile, making Kamala and Doug both smile as well.

"Sounds good to us!" Doug says with a cheeky grin.

"We would love that!" Kamala says happily.

"See you guys then! Bye!" Jill says as she waves and blows kisses at Kamala and Doug.

"See ya!" Joe says as he waves goodbye and smirks at Jill.

"Bye!" Kamala and Doug both say in unison as they end the Zoom call with Joe and Jill.

"I think Joe and Jill just finished having some fun together." Doug says as Kamala looks at him funny.

"No! What? Dougie, do you really think Jill and Joe had sex while waiting for a call from us to let them know that Devi is here?" Kamala asks Doug playfully, curious on his thoughts about this.

"I think so, yeah! I mean, they are on vacation and are alone from staff." Doug says with a little giggle at Kamala.

"What makes you think that? They are there with their grandkids until Tuesday!" Kamala asks Doug playfully again as she laughs and smiles at him.

"Honey, we almost saw Joe's you know what during the Zoom call just now and it seemed like Jill didn't have anything on either." Doug says as he laughs and Kamala realizes that in fact Joe had an almost presidential private slip and Jill appeared nude but covered with the white duvet.

"Well, I'm sure Joe sleeps naked. I always heard about that from staffers and Jill told me before while drinking too many mimosas. But I know Jill wears pajamas to bed unless they do the you know. But oh my gosh! They are sex machines!" Kamala says loudly, causing Doug to laugh loudly.

"They probably have more sex then we do!" Doug says playfully to Kamala as he and Kamala both smile at each other.

"Probably and we have sex a lot!" Kamala says as she busts out laughing and Doug giggles along with her.

"Yeah, that's how this little guy happened." Doug says as he playfully points at a sleeping Devi, who is comfortably sleeping on Kamala's chest.

"I wouldn't change it for the world though. I an so happy to be a mom and for you to be a dad again." Kamala says softly and Doug smiles.

"Me either. Life is perfect." Doug says softly to Kamala as he smiles at Kamala.

"It sure is." Kamala says as she and Doug kiss each other a few times before they relax for the rest of the night!
