At the Ground for Soccer Practice

Professor Oak called Coach Marshall Surge that all soccer players are needed along with him on Field now and now he along with Diantha & Coach Grant is approaching the field. There are some seating arrangements for them to sit & watch.

Oak spoke first "Grant I know your school team is already got some strong players but still its hard luck for Kalos High in the annual tournament."

Grant replied "yes professor, the thing is we have got some exceptional players but there is always room for improvement. Our attackers are best but we still need some work in midfield and defenses."

"Kanto High is winning from the Last two years while our teams lack too much because last time we didn't even make it to the qualifiers" added Diantha while thinking.

"Sycamore told me that casually some days back and that's why I suggested his that I got some players in Pallet High having high potential but still being a small town & small school, their talent is yet to be recognized and I am sure myself they would go a long way." Said Professor Oak while smiling.

"Professor are you talking about your grandson?" Asked Diantha

"Yes and No, While Gary my grandson can go explore other universities and learn from the best, as you know Red & Blue had already made fame for the Oak name" to which Diantha and Grant nodded. He further added "But with that, he might let get these things into his head so that's why he is still in Pallet High" to which they both give an understanding nod.

Grant then asked "What about the other kid with Raven hair?"

"Grant he is being raised by his single mother who just owns a small restaurant in Pallet, and being low on money & resources just closes many of the options. Further he is Gary's best friend and the reason why Gary pushes himself from the core. " Both Diantha & Grant nodded.

"But Professor but about the best you have? Who were you referring to?" Diantha asked to which Grant also gave an expectant look.

"It's my own judgment I want you to make your own & we will discuss that after both training session's" the same time Coach Surge arrived "meet our Soccer coach Marshall Surge & he will assisting us with the soccer team which is also on the field & I need to go and make sure Wulfric gets all he needs so please make yourself comfortable and I will be back in a short while," Professor oak said as he left towards the conference room.

"Coach Surge I want to know who are best players you got along with their positions on the field, also tell then to run 15 laps of the ground while we discuss this" Grant told Surge to which he nodded and went to address the team while grant was just behind them overseeing.

Surge Shouted "Attention kiddos!!! All of you run 15 Laps while we got some discussion & Ketchum 3 extra laps for you." to which they started running & while Diantha & Grant were surprised.

"Why was the harsh treatment for that Ketchum?" asked Diantha while Surge just smiled.

"It's because he is fast & got stamina can run extra for the same time, nothing harsh for him" to which they both nodded surprisingly.

"Coach Surge now we must focus on the work in hand" told grant to which everyone nodded & he further added.

"We are interested in two kids Gary & Ash mainly, I want to know there position & status of training" "It's Just he is fast & got stamina can run extra for the same time" to which they both

"Best of the team I got it, Okay I am giving you a detailed sheet of Players first Oak, there you go" as he handed them a Paper on which details of Gary were listed.

"Well records his record are better for a player in a small school" Grant said while looking through the sheet and asked "did you trained them that good Coach surge?"

"Yes I did to the best of my ability but both Oak & Ketchum kid also train with Red whenever they are available. But I guess Sports run in the Oak Blood" replied while shocking both Grant & Diantha to which they giggled on the last part.

Diantha broke her silence "That explains some things & now please go on for the other kid's data." To which Surge handed them another sheet of paper.

Name- Ash Ketchum

School- Pallet High

Best Field Position- Centre Midfield, Right Wingback, Right Midfielder

Other Field Positions- LW (Left Wingback), RM (Right Midfielder)

Team Status- Vice-Captain

Techniques- Excellent control over the ball, dodging techniques, Strategist, Defensive techniques, attacking, Striking aim, etc.

"Whoa, all of these qualities in one person are you serious Coach?" Asked Grant to which Surge nodded "I don't think one can be that good in many positions" to which Diantha and Surge nodded too.

"Ketchum is one of the kind I can say Grant because he got that passion that he is always want to get better and training. Ketchum and Oak well were rivals at first and Oak's stubbornness gives him the position he wanted on the field but Ketchum he tries hard on every position he gets and yes he succeed and practicing hard for that even if it's a temporary position and his stamina not to be ignored." Surge told both not knowing Professor Oak is just standing beside him and just listening all of that while smiling and watching Grant & Diantha's expression.

"That's why 3 extra laps??" asked Diantha to which he nodded.

"Good to know you're impressed Diantha & Grant" Said Professor Oak while motioning them to follow to the field where they can see everyone has completed the Laps just now & then Ash finished his last one without a sweat.

Grant then gained their attention while moving onto the field "alright everyone that's enough running now a short test" shouted grant and then resumed "I am Soccer coach of Kalos High Grant for you all to know"

"Now its 9-2 match, Gary & Ash both of you against the rest of them. Take positions Gary Left wingback & Ash Right Wingback and you both have to do as many goals as you can & rest of you defend the goals" instructed grant to all of them and they all nodded he further added, "you got 10 minutes". As then he moved back to all observing while standing beside others.

Gary eyed Ash & both of them took their positions & then Ash just instructed something using sign language to which Gary gave a thumbs up. While this was happening it all was being noticed by Professor Oak, Grant, Surge & Diantha.

"You saw that Grant?" asked surge to which Grant nodded and then he said "now watch it unfold" then Grant whistled to the start of ten minutes.

After 10 Minutes

"Seriously!!! Zigzag pattern to tear down the entire defense??" asked Diantha to which they all nodded.

"5 Goals Diantha with this strategy. I guess they used it here only now" told Grant and to the question Surge nodded.

"I am surprised too but not that much because I kind of expect these things from them now" replied Surge.

"Grant I had made my decision now let's meet Wulfric for basketball selection" said Diantha to Grant specifically.

"Diantha why don't we move to Basketball Court and I can ask Giovanni to come there with Wulfric & Remo asked professor Oak to which Diantha nodded and then he told Surge to let them know along with the Basketball team and coach. After surge left they turned to the basketball court.

At the Basketball Court

Sitting arrangements had already been made when Professor Oak arrived alongside Diantha & Grant & Sat down while waiting for Wulfric & Remo

With Wulfric & Remo (In Conference Room)

"Good thing I already got all the data related to Ash Ketchum while in here now it's just the session" said Wulfric to Remo as he was looking up in a sheet of Player details.

"Right now we have to just wait for that soccer session to end" said Remo while working on a List.

"I am just astounded by looking at the details" said Wulfric while holding it.

Favourite Field Position- Point Guard

Other Field Positions- Centre, Shooting Guard, Power Forward, Small Forward

Team Status - Captain

Techniques- Excellent control over the ball, dribbling techniques, Strategist, Long Range shooting, 3 pointers, attacking, Blocking techniques, etc.

"Is he that good?" asked Remo

"I don't know but this sheet of paper says he is" replied Wulfric just then Blaine entered the conference hall everyone eyed him.

"You must be Wulfric & Remo, right?" asked Blaine as they both nodded "I am Blaine, Basketball Coach of Pallet High & Professor Oak called me to fetch you both to Basketball Court for that practice session also Giovanni please inform the Basketball team to be at the Court ASAP," told Blaine to Wulfric & Remo to which they both stood up and started walking.

"Wait I don't need the whole team just call Ash Ketchum, I find only him interesting" says Wulfric while interrupting him to which Giovanni nodded.

While Walking Wulfric asked "Blaine would you care to tell me about this Ash Ketchum" to which Blaine nods his head

"He is passionate for sure and remarkable in the court with the ball, this kid will go further. Endless energy he has got either playing Soccer or Basketball and I know he always gets good grades. So he is remarkable in everything." told Blaine while surprising both Remo and Wulfric.

"What!!! Are you serious? He is also that good in soccer??" asked Wulfric while thinking about various situations in his mind.

"Yes, he sure is and you looked quite surprised. I think you didn't saw the Soccer team data?" asked Blaine eyeing both Wulfric & Remo.

Remo replied "No, we didn't" while Wulfric just froze.

"I Got from your looks & I think your other teams are also gonna surprised now" told Blaine while smiling as they reached towards the sitting arrange where others were seated.

"Wulfric are you prepared for the training session?" asked Diantha expectantly to which Wulfric gave her a nod.

"Where are the player's professor?" asked Grant while seeing no one was in the Court.

"I asked for only a single player that got my eye and I will test him myself" told Wulfric while interrupting them to which Oak smiled and gave a knowing look.

"Is he that good to get a one on one training session with you?" Asked Diantha while maintaining a perplexed look.

This time Professor Oak interrupted them "Of course he sure is he is also the Captain of our school team. Am I right Wulfric?" asked Oak to which he nodded then Oak continued "He is a very versatile player" told Oak as he saw Ash coming to where they all were seating.

"Ash you did a brilliant job in the field out there and let me introduce you to Selection Panel of Kalos High, to which he told this is Diantha Carnet a trustee of Kalos High & then this is Grant the Soccer Coach and this is Wulfric the Basketball Coach & Professor Remo" Oak complimented him and then introduced by gesturing to them.

"Thanks, Professor & Good Afternoon Everyone" Greeted everyone to which they all nodded.

"You were excellent out there with your strategy & its implementation. I must say that was an odd strategy." Complemented Grant as ash scratched the back of his head while nodding in embarrassment.

"Actually why are you there?? And where is the kid Wulfric asked for?" asked Diantha while eyeing Professor Oak to which he just smiled.

"I asked for him" told Wulfric which surprised Diantha & Grant much to the humor of others.

"Well Diantha and Grant let me introduce you to Ash Ketchum he is Vice Captain of Soccer & Captain of Basketball team of Pallet High." Told Professor Oak giving them a look of pure shock while Ash just stands there smiling that Prof. Oak got the best of them.

"Are you sure Professor? And Wulfric you know we want some best players for games not some average players" asked Diantha while eyeing Wulfric.

"Diantha wait for the session then decide I am also excited after seeing this" told Wulfric as he handed Diantha the player sheet & then he turned to Ash "Ketchum 1 on 1 who scores 5 baskets first wins but first show some of your skills in the court. Start by dribbling then giving Long & Short passes also show me your Three Pointers." Instructed Wulfric to which he nodded and they moved to the court.

"This is insane Professor!!! I don't believe it. I got he is good in Soccer but that good in Basket Ball?? Like he can score from any location from the ground and can take every role." She eyed Professor to which he laughed.

"Just let them finish & then you'll see what I know" told Oak to which she stared at the ongoing session "Not to mention he is the best I've got" told Professor surprising them.

"So he is the one?" about whom you talked to Sycamore" asked Grant to which Oak nodded "So he is your Ace in the Hole" and he started Laughing confusing Diantha "Just laughing how Professor just got the best of us." As they started laughing.

After Basketball Session

"Ash your Stamina is good along with your techniques. Let me tell you in order

Basketball Dribbling – Good I may say excellent and fast

Long Pass- Wonderful but can be sharpened more

Short pass- excellent

Ground pass- excellent

3 Pointers- wonderful but shooting time can be improved.

Blocking techniques – unorthodox but effective

And not to mention you're versatile and we ended 5-4 I am impressed"

Wulfric stated as he moved to the others and ash was following him

"Coach Can we have one more game?? I am just Psyched now" Asked ash as Wulfric was dumb folded.

"Maybe if you are selected for Kalos High, Now go practice session is done" Wulfric stated with hard face while he went to join the others

Others observing the session

"He just got best of Wulfric just asking another game" stated Grant while smiling and seeing others were also amused.

"Pew!!! That kid is going to be the Death of me Diantha. So much stamina he drained me and while didn't break a sweat even after that soccer practice & now this" told Wulfric as he sat down.

"yeah now you mentioned it I also take notice he was just like normal even after that warm-up & matches and still wanting to have another match" stating the facts told Grant while making amusing faces.

"Yeah you can expect that from the Best Pallet High had now Kalos High is having him" as she told and faced professor Oak and further added "Professor now I know why Sycamore believed so much in your words & now for record Gary Oak & Ash Ketchum are given a full scholarship in Kalos High and if any other candidate Remo has found we will notify you," said Diantha as she saw the surprising facing of other Panel Members while Professor just smiled & nodded.

"Thanks, Diantha that would mean the world to Ash & it also means so much for Pallet High" Professor stated as Diantha just smiled.

"One more thing professor Oak actually we need you to send these two to Kalos within a week as Professor Sycamore had planned great things ahead for them" told Diantha to which Professor Oak just nodded.

"Remo Contact Sycamore and inform them to make carrier arrangements for two new students as he told you to." Diantha ordered Remo as she stood up and others followed her lead and further says "Thanks professor for such nice hospitality & those surprises but now we must leave" told Diantha as everyone gave amused smile and Professor nodded and they left out towards their Car.

In the Flight to Kalos afterward

"I am drained of energy and this was a long day" told Diantha as she relaxed in her seat.

"I can even imagine how hard for me it's going to train" told Wulfric while groaning gaining laughter from everyone

Grant replied "well we actually got some potential candidates as I am psyched to train them."

Diantha replied "Well he's gonna drains your energy while training for sure.
Best of luck with it both of you." While chuckling

Grant further reminded them "As sycamore told us data of both of them is not to be shared. We need to train secretively in summer breaks"

Wulfric groaned and replied "Yeah I remember some surprise but if I died due to excessive drainage of energy it's not going to be a surprise." While everyone else chuckled.

Diantha: now I think this will be great.

In pallet High
In professor Oak's Cabin

Professor Oak said "Ash & Gary Congratulations to both of you for making it to the Kalos High." To which they mouthed a thank you.

Gary asked "gramps when to leave?? I guess after summer break??"

Ash further asked "What about scholarship??"

Oak replied seriously "Gary & Ash you both need to leave within a week and that will be confirmed by tomorrow & there is some bad news about the scholarship" turning Ash's expression Happy to sad.

Ash still said, "Then happy for you Gary, Congratulations." In a sad tone.

Prof Oak then interrupted "The Bad news is both of you got a complete scholarship." While Chuckling

Gary smiled and said "Gramps that was hilarious. For one minute I almost thought ashy boy will be saved from me." While laughing.

Ash then fired back "Good now you'll be the unsafe one now." As he was now smiling.

"Kalos is a region of love & Girls here I come" Gary made a statement.

Ash added "Kalos is for a treat now & I can't wait now" excitedly.
