Kaito woke up screaming. It was pitch black outside. He had gotten another nightmare about his friends turning into his parents in the middle of him performing the new song cantarella.
"Kaito?" Meiko was looking at him sadly and with concern. "I'm fine, thanks Meiko," he whispered. He felt Meiko crawl into the bed with him.
" you sure?" He thought about it. "Yes," he murmured as sleep overtook him again.
It was 10:30 when he woke up with a groan. Kaito realized that he was in a room, not on the floor. This revelation left him with tears of joy. Although he knew this couldn't last long. I have to protect my brother. Kaito looked at the side where Meiko was sleeping last night. He noticed that all his nightmares had slipped away when she was there with him. Thinking about this, he got up and came to the living area where Krypton awaited him.
"Morning Kaito. How was your sleep?" He asked with an undertone saying the truth, now. "Uh, I slept well enough I guess," Kaito said.
"Nightmares aren't considered 'well enough.' I'm glad Meiko came to check on you." Kaito blushed crimson. Krypton didn't notice. "Anyway, since you have missed 3 hours of school already, there is no reason to send you there. I'd rather we begin practicing your dance," Krypton said with his reassuring smile.
Kaito's blush faded and he grew excited. Dancing was the only way he forgot everything. "Yes master I agree," he said.
They practiced for a long time. Kaito's bruises were still aching and he couldn't raise his arms above his head for a few times. Then there was the memorizing. Kaito hated the memorizing. Finally he was perfect. "You could be a natural!" Krypton clapped. Despite the aches, Kaito let out a sigh of relief. "Can't wait for tomorrow."
