.Chapter 6: just imagine.

We walk to our room, after getting out of the elevator. Our sister's head to their room that is across the hall.

"Not in this hotel." I hear Klaus say, confusing me with what he was just talking about. "Oh! See? It's paradise."

We walk inside our room to see a bunk bed, an unmade bed, a couch, and a table. 'I would love to disagree with Klaus, but I've not had an actual bed in weeks.'

"High ceilings, sense of space." Klaus continues. "Aromatic."

"What the hell." Luther mutters, looking around our room.

"Where's the bathroom?" Diego asks. I look around the room some more.

"Down the hall, or..." Klaus starts, opening the window. "Nature's bathroom."

"You're disgusting." Diego comments.

"But consistent." Klaus answers.

"Let's unpack. Settle in." I say, taking off my blazer.

"Unpack? Unpack what? We don't own anything anymore." Luther says, confused.

"Yes, Luther. Isn't that liberating?" I ask, laying down on the bottom bunk.

"What are you, a commie?" Diego asks, looking confused as to why I'm so calm in our situation. "No! If I wanted bunk beds and group showers, I would've stayed in the Texas nuthouse. At least they had free Jell-O. And Lila."

"Jell-O!" Klaus says, bouncing on the top bunk.

"Hey, Diego." I say, leaning over the bed a little. "I just spent the past 20 straight days saving the world. Twice. Can I get five minutes to relax before figuring all the new kinks out? Please and thank you."

"And dad said I'd never go to summer camp." Luther says, sitting on the unmade bed. "This is great."

"All right, I'm bored. Cocktail, anyone?" Klaus asks from the top bunk. "Five?"

Diego grumbles as he leans his head up against the wall. "I'll take a scotch if you have one."

Klaus grabs the scotch for me as Diego continues to wallow in self pity. I drink my scotch before taking a much needed nap.

"Number Five, Number Zero." dad yells towards us. We share a look before walking out onto the mat. I see Marah get ready, her hands almost glowing as the temperature of  the mat heats up underneath us.

"In today's training, Number Five and Number Zero will attempt to take the other out, hitting the bell in the middle." dad states to all of us. "Begin!"

We look at each other for half a second before we start hand to hand combat. Marah gets the upper hand immediately. She elbows me in the gut, causing me to suck in some breathe.

Once I regain my breathing I blink away from her and appear in front of her, punching her square in the nose. I see her eyes start to water as she blinks away the tears. As I pause to make sure she's okay, she throws a punch straight towards my jaw.

My head snaps right causing my body to start to fall right before I blink away. I blink towards the bell and go to grab it when a beam of fire is shot right at my hand.

I pull my hand before it can be burned. We continue our fight for a few minutes, each with blood running down our faces and cuts and bruises on our bodies.

Marah knees me in the dick before she goes to grab the bell. I blink towards her and sweep her legs out from under her, sending her to the ground.

"Dick." Marah mutters towards me.

"Pay back's a bitch, love." I whisper back.

I see Marah's hands heat up. I quickly blink away before going for the bell. We get there at the same time. Both of us sending punches and kicks, before Marah goes down from a punch to the jaw that I sent her.

I hesitate, wanting to see if she's okay. I see dad in the corner with his cold eyes turned on us, waiting to see if I'll leave her there and take the win.

I lock eyes with Marah and see her nod ever so slightly, telling me shes okay. I kick the bell away before collapsing to the ground from exhaustion.

"Good." dad comments, walking out of the room, leaving the rest of the training for Pogo.

I wake up to find myself to be the only one in the room. I grab a robe and head towards the showers. I shower quickly, staying in my robe before heading downstairs to find my siblings.

I get out of the elevator and find my brothers in the dining area with take-out.

"You should try chewing. You might actually taste the food." I hear Klaus comment, before I go to sit down.

"I haven't eaten in days." Luther comments.

I sit down, grabbing one of the containers and open it up. "What's wrong?" Diego asks, turning towards me. "You look happy."

"I am plenty happy." I state. "Had a nap and a shvitz. What does a man need?"

"Brothers who don't eat like barn animals?" Klaus comments looking at Luther and Diego.

"So I've been thinking through our little timeline snafu," I start, opening my container. "and I'm pleased to report that in my professional, expert opinion, we are totally in the clear."

"Awesome." Klaus exclaims.

"Huh!" Luther mumbles while eating his food.

"Great." Diego comments.

"Yeah." I agree.

"So everything's totally fine?" Luther asks.

"More or less." I state. "I mean, there is one...small thing. It's nothing we can't manage." I open my food and go to eat it when Diego interrupts me.

"So spit it out, boomer!" Diego exclaims through a mouth full of food.

"Fine, Diego, it's like this." I start, explaining paradox psychosis. "Dad didn't adopt us as babies, but those babies still existed here."

"Aww!" Klaus coos.

"We just grew up in different places with different people." I answer.

"So?" Diego questions, not understanding the situation.

"So where are they now?" I question, not expecting an answer. "Odds are, we each have identical versions of ourselves walking around out there, living completely different lives."

Luther gaps, remembering what happened in Texas. "Our doppelgangers!"

"That's a made-up word." Klaus comments.

"No, no! I learned all about this in Texas." Luther states. "Tell him about the paranoid psychosis, Five."

"Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa!" Diego exclaims. "I thought you said this wasn't going to be a problem."

"Okay, yes, technically, if you're near your doppel for long, you'll go insane." I state, just wanting to eat. "So, if you ever see your other self..."

"Kill them.""Sleep with them." Diego and Klaus answer at the same time.

"...avoid them." I finish.

"What is wrong with you two?" Luther asks.

"Come on. As if you wouldn't climb Luther Mountain." Klaus comments.

"Wait. How are we supposed to guarantee we don't cross paths with ourselves?" Diego asks.

"Easy. We're the Benetton ad of superheros," I say. "born all around the world until dad brought us here, which he no longer did. Our doppel's probably aren't even in the same time zone as us."

"That's true." Luther comments.

"Yeah." agrees Klaus.

"Would you pass the moo shu?" I ask, pointing towards a container in the middle.

"I don't know." Klaus thinks out loud. "Doesn't it seem kind of rude that dad unadopting us didn't change anything? I'm offended."

"Hold up. I never said that, Klaus." I say, trying to clear the air on that subject.

"I'll be right back." Diego says, setting his food down and walking away. None of us try to stop him.

"How are we gonna know where it changed?" Klaus asks.

"You aren't." I hear a new voice say. "Because I know what's changed."

I turn to my left to see Marah standing there. I just look at her, engraining her into my memory. I'm pulled from my staring from the next two words she says.

"I remember."
