06: The KaiRa Moment
THIRD PERSON POV
"Swarna! Swarna... listen to me..." screamed Manish as he ran after his disappointed wife. Tears of anger streamed down her face as she walked into the bedroom. She held her face in her hands and sat on the edge, crying.
"Swarna, honey, kya ho gaya aapko?" asked Manish as he approached her
"Manish ji, you said na, Kartik won't come alone... I see, your words have matched..." she said, "Jaan na pehchan... kisi ko bhi utha laya..." she said
"Swarna, don't get upset," Manish placed his hand on the hem of her shoulder and said, "I am pretty much sure that Kartik won't do anything which disappoints his mother" he took her chin between his forefinger and thumb.
"Sahi bola aapne..." Kartik walked into the room, interrupting their conversation "How can Kartik ever disappoint his mother," he made the puppy dog face and looked at his mother...
"Maa, akeli ladki thi... usko, station par akela chod aata? Aur, maa, aap hi to kehte ho- we should always think well for others..." Kartik said, "And just for a few days, after that, she'll be with her family..."
"Beta, do whatever you like- but don't let her ruin your life," Swarna hugged Kartik
"Don't worry, Maa..." he patted on Swarna's back...

NAIRA:
"Wow!" My eyes sparkled with delight as Keerti Madam took me to the guest room, "It's so big- even our living room wasn't so big-" I said
"You remember?" she asked
"Yeah- not much, but some... but it was definitely not this big," I said
"Naira, don't you know anything about your family?" she asked
"Yeah- I know... but the only ones I remember are my parents... This is the only picture I have of them," I took out the crumbled photograph from my pocket and showed it to her. It depicted the picture of Papa, Mumma Bhai and me.
"This- is your bro?" she asked
"Yes... Naksh bhai..." I whispered...
"KEERTI? Can I come in?" asked Kartik as he placed a knock on the door
"Yes, please..." Keerti Madam returned me back the photograph and walked off. I crumbled it back once again, before putting it in my pocket, but I miserably failed to get it unnoticed.
"Stop..." Kartik held my wrist and pointed it vertically... "Hmm, what's this?"
"Fa-Family photo," I stammered
"Okay... show me," Kartik took it from my hands and started looking at it strangely
"You have a brother?" he asked
"Hmm... an older one..." I said. I was about to take the photograph from his hand but my toe twisted and I slipped...
My damned foot! I had the landing I had never expected... Kartik's arms wrapped me around in a bridal pose, saving me from falling. Our eyes could barely leave each other and I was kind of shocked. For the first time, I got to look at his face. He wasn't a frog... but the frog prince. His sharp nose and dimpled smile could melt any girl... but unfortunately not Naira. Butterflies were fluttering inside my stomach... Naira, control your emotions!
