Chapter 4

Axiom Book Club was home for Ebere, they were a group of young people, they weren't only readers and writers but a group that impacted on the lives of other youths and children. Over the years they had earned more members, however Ebere was part of the executives and they always had a session for book reviews and sorting out issues.

Ebere packed her car and came face to face with the milk coloured building located close to the highway. Navigating through the rooms, she located room 106 and stepped in,she was 5 minutes late, one thing she likes about them was their punctuality but at this point, she hated the fact that 12 pairs of eyes were shot at her, no, actually 13,the new pair of eyes were looking blue and they belonged to a new person.

Ebere didn't want to continue standing and so whispering sorrys, she found a chair close to the window.

"Muhammad go ahead and give us a review about Married to Victor Stephen by yewandejoseph"

Yewande Joseph was one of Ebere's best authors back in the days when they used Wattpad; an app.

Actually Axiom book club started on Wattpad before becoming an official book club.

Who exactly is Muhammad? Ebere knew all the names of everybody in the room. The new guy stood up and she couldn't take her eyes off him,he had blue eyes like really beautiful eyes,he was wearing a caftan that didn't hide the fact he was tall and had lean muscles. He looked like he stepped out from the pages of a Greek novel and then his face was well sculptured,he looked Fulani and like an Arab at the same time and then his eyelashes were lush and his hair was full,so full like you would be tempted to plait it. And his caramel skin was to die for,how could God bestow such beauty in a man and leave a girl to look terrible.

She knew she didn't listen to most things he said, all she saw was his lips moving and moving most of the times.

"On a final note, I personally commend Yewande Joseph, this was a nice piece, I personally love family themed books and she didn't just paint the image of a perfect family, she also pointed out their flaws,it's a nice one"He ended.

" If you were in Suzy's position, would you forgive Victor Stephen for having a child before marriage and outside their marriage?"Ebere blurted out before she could stop herself.

" Yes,why not?"He didn't just let his gaze fall on her,he looked intently at her.

"But as a husband, would you forgive a woman who does that to you?" she asked again.

" I...."He stammered.

" Exactly,a woman is always expected to forgive because his a man and can't control himself"Ebere rubbed her palms together.

" Are you trying to generalize the notion that men will always cheat?"

" Yes"Ebere was surprised he was still talking.

" Then you are mistaken" He replied with a tone of finality and had his seat. Ebere stared daggers at him and he caught her once, she probably had venoms in her eyes with the way he turned away.

"Actually Muhammad Sani Usman is our top sponsor and he decided to stop by and according to him,he might just always come around since his residing permanently in the city"The president explained.

The whole body of executives clapped and once the meeting ended, some members flicked around him but not Ebere, she hopped into her car and drove off.

***
Muhammad was amused at Ebere's character,he didn't know why she seemed angry about the whole talk about cheating, maybe her boyfriend cheated on her and she decided to pour it out on everyone. She was dark, small lips and pearl eyes.

She had an aura of a confident person, she was slim in an attractive way,he couldn't tell if she was curvy or not but wasn't looking bad in her jeans.

Though he couldn't term her as ugly, hell she was beautiful but not as beautiful or curvy as most girls he had met in his life. He didn't even get to know her name,he just termed as 'girl in jeans with afro styled hair'

His father's house was the largest in the area, which was the expection because he was quite a wealthy man. He was a business man who engaged in oil and gas, agriculture and even electronics,he was a jack of all trades, master of all.

Muhammad got into the house built Arabian style and met his mother, actually step mother and brothers eating dinner.

"Muhammad you are late today" She queried. Lubana his step mother treater him like a son and they had quite a beautiful bond.

"Sorry mum,I had to attend to something important"

He joined them and his brothers kept talking business; Umar and Kassim, they were younger than him and took the seriousness of their father.

"You know that Chinese investor,he proposed a bigger deal and I'll convince father to accept. Though this Chinese people can be corny,we can put him in his place" Umar spoke while Kassim nodded.

Muhammad silently faced the plate of miyan kuka before him,he wasn't really interested in business talks.

"What do you think Muhammad?"Umar faced him.

"It's a good plan and inshallah,we will succeed"

" Amin"They all chorused.

" Hadiza was here to see you"His step mother told him and he paused for a while and continued eating totally ignoring her.

"Didn't you hear me?" She asked widening her eyes.

"I did mother but there's nothing to say"

His two brothers were already giggling, they knew he wasn't interested in talks about the girl but their mother kept bringing her closer.

Hadiza was his childhood friend when he first came to Nigeria, when they turned teenagers, Muhammad noticed her attraction towards him and thought he tried to stop her,she wouldn't budge.

She was a good girl, very beautiful, always standing out among her peers but definitely not the person he loved.

His mother said nothing again and there was silence except for the cluttering noise of the spoons made against the plates. After dinner, Muhammad went to his room,he was just too tired to bath so after removing his device from his ears,he drifted into a peaceful slumber.
