Chapter 19
It was a Saturday evening, a boring one for Ebere, she scanned through her phone looking for some entertainment, her social media platforms were boring, the last time she updated her profile picture was 6 months ago and she hardly chatted with people.
Finally giving up and switching off her data, she decided to play her favorite game, Subway surfers. It was a perfect distraction for her until her phone rang, disrupting her game, she would have cursed the person who called but it was the blue eyed human and instead a smile graced her lips.
"Hey babe"
" Bab ,meet me at the basketball court, it's kinda urgent"
" Okay"Ebere replied and he hung up
Ebere quickly threw a shirt over her trouser, slipped her legs into her slippers and went out. Her parents weren't at home and Amanda was probably sleeping in her room.
Ebere go the court in no time and saw Muhammad leaning against his car, his back against her, he was so lost in thoughts be didn't notice when she snuck up on him and tickled him.
"Hey, you scared me" He exclaimed but she found it funny.
"You should have seen your face, you look like a girl who has a cockroach" she was still laughing and leaning against him.
" You are not nice"
"I know" She replied and then flipped her braids from her face. She noticed his intense gaze on her and she suddenly felt shy.
"Why are you watching me like that?" She asked him.
" I like watching you,the way you smile, every single movement you make is beautiful to me"Muhammad told her
She bent her head thanking God for her skin color, else she knew how red she'd be.
"You said you wanted to see me urgently,is there a problem?" She reminded him
He paused.
" Don't scream but I ditched my engagement with Hadiza"
Ebere gasped trying hard to comprehend what he had just said. Muhammad reached for her arms and before she could coordinate her words,he was standing very close to her.
"Do you trust me?" He asked her and watched as her eyes flickered before she nodded
"Then let's go"
He opened the car for her and then proceeded to open the driver's seat. Once they were inside, Ebere was as confused as ever.
"Are we eloping?" She asked.
"No,we aren't,you trust me, don't you?"
"I do" Ebere replied and before long, the car zoomed off.

"He just left with the girl"The dark skinned man said over the phone.
" I knew he was going to see that girl, this is just his plan to rebel against me, he'll be back"Sani Bello fumed over the phone.
" Do you want us to track his location?" The man asked.
" There will be no need for that,I might just ask you to kill the fool, he'll be back"
The line went dead immediately and the dark skinned man adjusted his hoodie and wore his glasses better.

Where she and Muhammad had gone that night was forever going to be in her memory. They had returned late at night and her mum had threatened thunder and lightning as usual and Ebere had lied she went over to a friend's.
Once Ebere stepped out of the bank that evening after work,a man in Black suit approached her.
"Good evening miss, someone would like to speak to you" The man told her.
" Who?"She asked. The man pointed at a beautiful woman who was leaning on a Mercedes Benz. Ebere walked up to her.
"Good evening ma" She greeted her. The woman looked classy and wealthy. She was chubby and light skinned and her Arabian gown looked good on her. She stood tall and intimidating with a bored look on her face.
"Evening young lady" She responded and then Ebere felt the woman checking and analysing her, thank God she was wearing a suit.
"I am Lubana Sani Bello,I am Muhammad's step mother, the same young man you've been messing around with"
Eberes expression didn't waver, rather she looked at the woman eye ball to eye ball.
"From my research you have a pretty good record but not withstanding,I am not a woman of too many words. Kindly stay away from my son. You both are from different tribes and religion. You aren't and can never be compatible with him. I know you are young and you think you are in love but when it comes to marriage,it's different. Have you thought of your children? Switching religion? because over my dead body will Muhammad leave Islam"And she looked quite serious.
" I know you Igbo people are desperate set of people, whatever you've done to my son will surely backfire. For the last time, stay away, quench this fire you've started before it burns you"She warned and got into her car and soon it wheeled away from the premises, while she stood transfixed to that spot.
