Don't ask me anything
I'm not alive
Sameer was busy laughing with Munna Pandit and Rahul when Vishakha called out to him, "Sameer, tum bhi jaake ready ho jao. Pandit ji aate hi honge."
He looked at his mother and waved at himself, "Main ready toh hun, mummy."
Vishakha shook her head, "Yeh jeans aur shirt nahi chalega. Pooja mein baithna hai tumhe. Maine naye kapde room mein rakhwa diye the tum teeno ke liye. Jao, change karke aao."
Sameer stood up with a dejected face. If his mother had brought clothes for them, Naina would not wear pink... he really wanted to see her in a pink saree.
Pink was the first thing he saw... on both his girls. Naina was in a beautiful, shimmery pink saree and baby was dressed in a soft pink outfit. Sitting on the bed, Naina was adjusting the cap on baby's head.
First thing he did was close the door. He needed some moments with his wife.
She looked back at the sound of door closing. A smile was quick to appear on her face as she saw him.
Pointing at the couch, she instructed, "Wahan tumhare naye kapde rakhe hain. Hum dono taiyar ho gaye, tum bhi ho jao."
Putting a sheet over the sleeping baby, she got up to go to the dresser. Her hair still needed to be done. Sameer stood next to the bed, hands in pocket. She pointed at his clothes and walked across him.
He turned and reached her wrist, pulling her against himself
"Sameer, kya kar rahe ho? Koi aa jayega. Waise bhi, der ho rahi hai. Abhi yeh sab nahi." She hissed as her back crashed against his chest.
"Yeh sab abhi hi zaroori hai." He whispered in her ear.
With one hand still clasped around her wrist, he shifted her hair over one shoulder. She drew in a sharp breath as his lips skimmed over her back. He left her hand... she was already a captive. His hands moved up her arms slowly, while his lips nibbled the spot behind her ear, melting away whatever little resistance was left in her.
She did not realise when his hands moved up to her shoulders, and reached the dori. He held both strings and tied them together, his lips still on her neck.
"Naina, dori bandh gayi. Ab mujhe jaane do. Late ho raha hai." His husky whisper took some time to register in her mind.
When it did, she realised, he wasn't holding her... she was leaning on him. Swiftly, she stepped ahead, and turned to look at him, trying to mask the feelings with an angry glare.
"Gussa kyon kar rahi ho? Dori baandh raha tha. Woh abhi hi karna zaroori tha." He shrugged.
She pursed her lips, flicking her head in the direction of his new clothes. With a resigned expression, he walked across her, a smirk spreading on his face the moment she was behind him.
The packet had a blue silk kurta for him, with a white lower. He was surprised.
"Naina, kapde toh mummy laayi hain na... tumhare liye pink aur mere liye blue... kaisa ittefaq hai." He started to unbutton his shirt, amazed at the coincidence.
"Mummy ko colour maine hi bataye the. Tum subah nahi bhi kehte toh bhi main pink hi pehenne wali thi... tumhara favourite. Aur tumhare liye blue mangwaya, mera favourite." She revealed, brushing her hair.
He quickly got rid of the shirt, unfolded the kurta and slipped into it. It refused to budge lower, getting stuck around his head, with his arms half into the sleeves.
"Naina, yeh dekho... yeh phans gaya. Nikalo isse." He hollered in frustration.
She saw the buttoned panel covering his face, his arms up in air and his desperate voice calling out to her... and quickly went over.
"Offo Sameer, button toh khol lete pehenne se pehle." She went up on her toes to reach them.
"Tod mat dena." He chuckled.
Her hands froze.
He couldn't see the crooked smile on her face but he felt the hands move away from his head.
"Naina, jaldi karo na. Main phansa hua hun." He cried out.
"Tum poori tarah se phanse hue ho... jaan." Her deep voice stilled him... the endearment was an indication that it was her turn now.
The feathery touch of her fingers on his bare chest made him shudder. When her lips landed on his heart, he stopped breathing.
"Naina, kya kar rahi ho?" His voice was constricted, though not because of the stuck kurta.
Her hands moved over him, exploring the expanse that lay in front of her. After having her fill with the hands, she slipped them behind him, planting soft kisses in the center of his chest.
All he wanted was to crush her in his arms. This torture was too much.
"Naina, yeh kurta nikalwa do nahi toh phat jayega." His voice was hoarse as her soft lips moved over him.
"Uh... uh Sameer, button todne ka haq sirf mujhe hai, tumhe nahi." She whispered, her warm breath teasing him even more.
A knock on the door made him let out the breath he was holding... now Naina had no option.
Bela's voice rang in through the door, "Naina, jaldi aaja. Panditji aane wale hain. Pooja ki sab taiyari ho gayi."
Without moving away from him, she called out, "Chachiji, Sameer naha rahe hain aur main baby ko taiyar kar rahi hun. Bas abhi aate hain."
And the footsteps faded outside the door.
"Naina, please sweetheart, maan jao. Dekho, mere haath dukh rahe hain." Sameer decided to play other card.
She smiled at his attempt, but did not leave him. Lifting the panel that covered his neck, she went on her toes and nipped at his collar bone. His adam's apple bobbed as he gulped. She kissed over it.
The only thing that stopped him was the need to keep the kurta intact for pooja.
"I Love You... jaan." She peppered kisses along his jawline.
He could see her glinting eyes now.
"Please Naina." His barely audible voice was guttural.
"Oh, tumhara toh kurta atka hua hai." She said in a surprised tone, as if the realisation had struck her this moment.
And he felt her touch leave him, as she moved away. For once, he was relieved to let her step away. The sound of opening the door was followed by her loud voice, "Mummy, ek minute suniye na."
She ran back and opened his buttons quickly, sliding the kurta down. His tired arms fell to the side before she grabbed them and placed the lower, pushing him towards the bathroom.
"Mummy aa rahi hain. Jao, bathroom mein ready hoke aao." Her eyes did not meet his.
Within a few seconds of closing the door behind him, he heard his mother's voice, talking to Naina.
He leaned against the door, thumping his chest with fisted hand. She had nearly given him a heart attack. When she was shy, her blushing face made his heartbeat go erratic... but when she turned into a temptress, he forgot to breathe.
"Yeh chain? Naina, yeh toh meri mummy ki hai... yeh kahan se mili tumhe?" Vishakha was shocked when Naina showed her the gold chain.
She told her about nanu's letter and this blessing for their child. Vishakha was stunned. She held the chain lovingly, recalling it around her mother's neck. Reminiscing about those days, she sat on the bed and tied the chain around baby's neck.
While going out of the room with Naina and baby, she stopped in front of the bathroom door and said in a loud voice, "Kitna nahaoge, Sameer? Jaldi karo. Tumhe bhi aaj hi itni der lagani hai."
Pressing her lips to control her reaction, Naina quietly followed Vishakha outside.
Sameer stepped out of the bathroom a few minutes later. He quickly brushed his hair and dashed out.
Naina was surrounded by a number of people. He wanted to go to her straight away but Munna held his arm, asking about something related to arrangements. Sameer impatiently answered him and turned to her. But she was already seated on a low stool next to panditji by then, the baby in her lap. Phulla bua asked him to go and sit with her.
She flashed a sweet, innocent smile to him as he settled next to her. His lips curved into what looked like a simple smile but she could see the darkness in his eyes.
"Kurta bohot achha lag raha hai tumpe." Her gaze flickered on the buttons for a moment, before coming up to his face.
He pressed his lower lip under the teeth, knowing that all eyes would be on them.
Loud chants from panditji brought their attention to the reason of this occasion. Next half an hour, he continued to speak in a sing song voice, blessing the baby and making Sameer do some rituals.
When he asked for the name, Sameer looked at Naina. With a serene smile, she nodded.
"Sana." He declared in a loud voice.
The room filled up with loud murmurs of appreciation.
Pooja got over soon and they both were surrounded again, receiving compliments for such a beautiful name.
Preeti implored Naina, "Behen, mere bachhe ke liye bhi tu hi naam soch de achha sa. Na mere se yeh dimaag wala kaam hoga na Pandit se."
Pandit wound an arm around her shoulder, "Offo Preeti, main itna bhi bewakoof nahi hun. Jaise bhabhi ne rakha hai dono ka naam milake, maine bhi soch liya hum apne bachhe ka naam apne naam mila ke rakhenge... Papri."
Preeti slapped her forehead, "Lo, ho gaya iska shuru."
He gave a perplexed look to Munna and Rahul, "Kyon, achha nahi hai? Waise mujhe bhi thoda sookha sa laga... matlab poori hota toh bhi theek tha."
Preeti stomped his foot. He bellowed in pain dramatically, earning a laugh from others.
Rahul teased, "Naam sookha ho sakta hai par uske liye mili shabashi kaafi joshili thi."
Rishi joined them from behind, "Aap uska naam Rishi rakh dena. Issi bahane mujhe yaad rakhoge."
There was a sudden silence. Preeti stiffened. Rahul and Sonali glared at him. Munna narrowed his eyes. Others were confused.
Rishi held up his palms, "Arre main Preeti bhabhi aur Pandit bhaiya ko ek achha naam hi toh bataa raha hun. Aap log aise mat dekho."
Preeti relaxed, "Oh toh chachaji banke aaye ho. Waise chacha bohot hain uske paas, mama ban jaoge toh zyada achha hoga."
He quickly folded his hands, bowing , "Jaisa aap kaho, Preeti didi. Bas ek achhi si ladki bata do. Aap sabke beech mein thoda akela mehsoos kar raha hun."
Rohan tapped him on the shoulder, flicking his head towards everyone, "Yeh sirf training academy hai. Result apni mehnat se hi milega."
Sameer grinned at him, "Tumhara result bina training ke hi top ka aa gaya."
He glanced at him and Naina, "Bhai, maine distance learning ka course kiya hai aap dono se."
A loud laughter rang in their gang.
Later, Naina sat with bhabhi for sometime, asking for tips about taking care of the baby.
Bhabhi gestured at Sonali, asking her to come, telling Naina once she sat with them, "Naina, ab apni dost ko bhi samjha de ki time ho gaya hai. Zyada late karegi toh sabse chota hoga iska baby. Fir hum sab free ho jayenge aur yeh apne chotu ko leke baithegi."
Sonali sat on the arm of sofa next to bhabhi, "Main kyon karungi yeh sab? Tab tak aap log free ho jaoge na. Toh aap hi sambhalna 'chotu' ko."
At dinner time, Naina saw Arjun seated quietly in one corner. She went to him.
"Arjun bhaiya, aapne khana khaya?" She put a hand on his shoulder.
Arjun smiled up at her, and made her sit with him. He took out a small packet from his pocket.
"Naina, yeh tere liye aur hamari pyari Sana ke liye." He placed the packet on her palm.
She unwrapped it to find two pairs of earrings. One was a set of small gold ones, for Sana, and other was a pair of thick loops, studded with diamonds. She looked up in surprise.
He gave a complacent smile, "Apne khud ke paison se liya hai. Naina, ab hamare din pehle jaise nahi rahe. Papa ko ghar dekh ke jitni khushi hui usse zyada khushi iss baat ki hui ki woh tum sab ke liye itne saare tohfe khareed paaye. Unka chehra khil utha. Apni beti aur bete ki kaamyabi ne unke atm vishwas ko badhaya hai."
Naina looked back at her father. He was happily playing with Sana in his arms while Sonali's mother asked him to be careful.
"Aur yeh Sameer ke liye." Arjun held out one more packet.
She opened it to find an expensive watch. She told Arjun how much Sameer would love it. Looking around, she found him going towards the kitchen.
"Main Sameer ko dikhati hun. Khush ho jayega." She assured him before following Sameer.
He took out a bottle from the fridge and took two long sips of water.
"Sameer, yeh dekho Arjun bhaiya tumhare liye kitni achhi ghadi laaye hain." Naina's voice made him turn sharply.
The pull was so sudden that she would have screamed had he not covered her mouth. She was pinned against the refrigerator.
"Pagal ho gaye ho kya? Ghar pe itne saare log hain. Koi bhi kitchen mein aa sakta hai. Chodo mujhe." She whispered, squirming to get out of his hold.
He pressed her more, getting away from the direct viewline even if someone entered the kitchen.
"Naina, aaj jo tumne kiya..." His voice turned heavy even at the thought of it.
"Achha sorry. Ab nahi karungi." She looked for a way to get out.
His eyes turned darker, "Karna padega."
Sorry, I couldn't find a title from yesterday's vc... each and every dialogue of theirs was iconic.
First time we saw the non professional side of our professional co stars 🙈
