Understanding
"Aap... aapko pata tha?" Sameer was the first to find his voice.
"Tumhe kya laga? Beta, maine yeh baal dhoop mein safed nahi kiye hain." Bua dadi smirked at their stunned faces.
Naina wanted to run away to the room... only, she didn't know which room to go...
"Ab jaa apne kamre mein... mujhe apni neend kharab karne ka koi shauk nahi hai." Before Naina could utter a word, bua dadi was gone, shutting her door.
She looked at Sameer... he shrugged.
Staying in the same room was not new for them anymore, but in this house... while bua dadi was in the next room... Naina felt a bit awkward.
"Ismein itna sochne wali kya baat hai... agar hum shaadi ke baad kisi ke bhi ghar mein jayenge toh ek hi kamre mein rahenge na." He was not as hesitant as her, having recovered from the shock of bua dadi's words.
"Lekin Sameer, yahan... bua dadi ke ghar mein..." She wrenched her fingers.
He slid one arm around her waist, pulling her closer, "Kyon... yaad nahi yahan tum mera shirt utarwane ko taiyar ho gayi thi... button todne ke baad... aur mere bathroom mein nahane ka bahana bhi dhoond liya tha... woh toh main ghar pe nahi tha... warna tumhare iraade toh tab se nek nahi hain."
She looked at him, aghast at his twisted version.
"Maine... maine aisa kuch nahi kiya tha." She looked away indignantly, red faced.
"Nahi kiya tha?" He seemed to ponder, then leaned and whispered in her ear, "Toh ab kar do na... kisne roka hai."
This time she knew which room to run to... slipping away from his grip.
"Nainaa... suno toh... arre ruko toh..." He followed her, smirking.
She closed the door as soon as he entered. Hearing the sound, he turned... and was shocked to see her smiling against the bolted door.
"Arre waah... iss ghar mein kuch khaas hi baat hai... Mrs Maheshwari yahan aate hi rang badal leti hain... kya karne wali ho?" He crossed his arms, giving a crooked smile.
She walked towards him with a charming smile, "Yeh darwaza isliye band kiya jisse awaaz bahar na jaaye, jab tumhari pitaai ho."
He stepped back, horrified, "Naina, tum... tum meri pitaai karogi? Aaisa maine kya kiya?"
"Oh toh Mr Maheshwari ki yaddasht bhi kamzor ho gayi hai... yaad dilana padega." Her smile slowly faded.
"Tumhari wajah se kitni baar Phulla bua ke samne main sharm se paani ho jaati hun... kaun aaya tha uss raat kamre ke baahar... kaun lipstick ka nishan leke gaya unke saamne... kaun baar baar mera naam leke dhund raha tha mujhe?" She threw a deadly glance at him.
"Naina, yeh kya ho gaya tumhe? Bua dadi bas mazak kar rahi thi... usme kya hai? Unhone koi gussa thodi kiya tumhe... dekho yeh sab bhool jao... hamari shaadi ho chuki hai... kisi mazaak ko aise dil se nahi lagate." He held up his hands, trying to calm her.
"Sameer ke bachhe... tum kabhi apni harkaton se baaz nahi aa sakte?" She chased him as he ran around the bed.
"Suno Naina... arre baith ke baat karo na... yeh raat ko jogging kyon kara rahi ho." He kept giving her a slip.
"Pata hai ghar ki sabse badi hain bua dadi, aur unke saamne tumhe aise karna zaroori hai... kya sochengi woh hamare baare mein... main toh subah unse nazaren bhi nahi mila paungi." She frowned, still following him around the room.
He stopped suddenly... and she crashed into him. His arms went around her, holding safely to prevent her from falling.
"Tumhe pata hai na woh sirf chedti hain... fir itni pareshan kyon ho rahi ho... mujhe toh bada mazaa aata hai jab woh aisa kuch kehti hain... lagna bhi toh chahiye ki hamari nayi shaadi hui hai." He smoothed away the strays of hair from her face, talking in a soft voice.
She looked at him, breathing a little hard.
"Par woh humse kitni badi hain." Her embarrassment persisted.
"Naina, woh umar mein badi zaroor hain par shayad pyaar ko sabse zyada wohi samajhti hain... unhone tumhare dil ki baat kitni pehle jaan li thi... bina tumhare kuch bole... woh khush hain hamari khushi se... bas aise hi taang kheechti hain hamari." He cleared her doubts.
She let out a long exhale... what he was saying was right... bua dadi was the one who had been supporting them right from the beginning... she had the habit of teasing... Naina had seen her laughing after talking in hushed tones with Bela chachi as well... and with Pooja didi... she was the same with everyone... the age difference did not exist for her...
The awkwardness started to melt away, "Haan Sameer, tum theek keh rahe ho... woh toh sabke saath aisi hi hain... aur sirf pyar ki baat pe hi nahi, woh har baat alag tareeke se karti hain... iss umar mein bhi woh sab kuch hamare nazariye se samajh jaati hain... hamara saath deti hain."
He was relieved.
"Ab zara pehle wali baaton pe aa jaayein?" He tilted his head to look at her.
"Pehle wali konsi baat?" She furrowed her brows, not able to recall what he was saying.
"Umm... woh sab jo tum karna chahti thi... matlab pichhli baar se... yeh shirt, ye button... " He winked.
To his wonder, she smiled back, and moved a step away from him... her hands reached his first button... he was astounded when she opened it with a crooked smile... and the next one...
Her hands slipped in, going over his shoulder, rubbing the collarbone.
"Ab theek hai?" She asked in a deep voice.
His hands clutched her arms tight, "Theek toh ab Ahmedabad jaake hi hoga... tab tak kaam chalaane ke liye thoda aur chahiye."
She pulled down his head, taking him for the kiss he was waiting for.
Later, when they were lying in bed in each other's arms, he was reminded of their Diwali visit.
"Yaad hai Naina jab tum mujhse takrayi thi iss bathroom ke bahar?" He asked.
"Haan, aur mujhe laga tha ki tum darr gaye mujhe aise dekh ke." She giggled.
"Darr hi gaya tha." He came up on his elbow, looking at her amused face.
"Haan... darr gaya tha ki kaise rokun khud ko tumhare paas aane se... uss din tumhare geele baal, chehre pe paani ki boonden, woh khushboo... pata hai, maine bathroom mein saare sabun aur shampoo check kiye ki aakhir woh khushbu hai kiski... tab pata chala woh toh tumhari hai... khaas tumhari." He leaned over her neck to inhale deeply.
"Hato, kuch bhi bolte ho." She pushed him away, remembering how she had gone sad after the incident... worried about his reaction which she had misinterpreted.
He saw the blush spreading on her cheeks, revealing her thoughts to him.
He pulled her over his chest, "Sach bol raha hun... itna kho gaya tha tum mein ki khaana peena bhi bhool gaya... bas tumhare unn geele baalon mein samaa jaana chahta tha."
She hid her face in his chest, hearing his thudding heart against her ear.
"Ek baar bas ghar aa jao tum... ek ek din ka badlaa lunga." His voice turned rough as he lifted her face.
Keeping her so close to himself, still keeping her away was getting more difficult with each passing day... her warmth heated him up, her scent enticed him, her hands on his skin made it burn, her gaze invited him...
He sat up and pulled off his T-shirt.
"Yeh... yeh kya kar rahe ho?" She looked up in shock.
"Ab se aise hi sona hai mujhe... tumhe jitna paas mehsoos kar sakta hun utna karna chahta hun." He pulled her close again, lying back on the bed.
Naina gasped... finding herself pressed against his chest... the heat searing her through the thin lucknawi kurta.
"Kabhi kabhi lagta hai mujhse bada gadha duniya mein koi nahi hai." His frustrated voice reached her.
"Huh... aisa kyon keh rahe ho?" She was confused.
"Mera sabse bada sapna toh tum thi... jab woh poora ho gaya toh mujhe doosre sapne beech mein laane ki kya zaroorat thi... khud apne liye hi mushkil khadi kar li... aur koi hoga itna bada bewakoof?" He huffed.
"Shhh." She placed a hand on his mouth, "Khabardaar agar mere pati ke baare mein aisa ulta seedha kaha toh... main kisi ke muh se apne Sameer ki burai nahi sun sakti."
He turned towards her, crushing her in his arms, "Tumhara Sameer hai hi gadha toh main kya kar sakta hun."
Her hands pressed into his back, "Ab itni bhi buri nahi hai meri choice."
He looked back at her sharply, "Matlab buri toh hai? Matlab main hun gadha?"
"Ab tum pati ho mere... tumhari haan mein haan milana toh mera farz hai." She rolled her eyes with a straight face.
"Achha? Sharam nahi aati apne pati ko aise bolte hue?" He nuzzled his nose in her hair.
"Haww, maine kahan kuch bola... maine toh bas tumhara saath diya hai." Her shoulder hitched as his nose rubbed against her ear.
Before she could say anymore, his lips found hers, with an urgency that had nothing gentle about it. She melted against him instantly, giving herself to his demand.
He felt her softness pressing into his hard chest, making him weak with the need for her.
He rolled over, taking her under him, holding himself up on the elbows for the fear of crushing her... her closed eyes seemed to be accepting him, her wet, quivering lips seemed to be inviting him, the rapid rise and fall of her chest seemed to be ready for him.
With a long shuddering breath, he lowered his mouth on her throat, lips trailing down the shoulder, leaving tiny bites over the kurta... her sharp intake of breath at each bite thrilled him... she let her hands wander over his arms, feeling the tightened biceps as he supported his body weight on his arms... her fingers moved to the bunched up muscles of his back, digging into the flesh as his teeth nipped her ear lobe.
Her hands pushed him towards herself... but he was too strong to come down by the force of her delicate hands... hovering over her, not letting his weight fall on her.
She opened her eyes, to see what was restraining him... the raw need in his eyes made everything clear to her.
This time, when she pushed him to the side, he fell back on the bed, breathing heavily. She moved to the crook of his arm, stroking his shoulder, trying to calm him... and herself.
Few minutes later, when he was breathing easier, he dropped a kiss on her forehead... and they drifted off to sleep... dreaming about the future that now seemed within hand's reach.
