Lift
Sameer had no intention of leaving the room in ten minutes.
"Aaj bhi rehne dijiye... kal ki party ke baad aaj thodi thakaan hai... hum dekh lenge baad mein... kuch aas paas ki jagah hi chale jayenge." He told the manager.
"Sir, jaisa aap theek samjhe... waise yahan din mein cab milna mushkil hota hai... saari bookings subah ho jaati hain... agar yeh booking miss ho gayi toh baad mein shayad na mil paye." The manager informed him.
"Koi nahi, yaar... ek do jagah nahi bhi dekhi toh kya hua... humne aaj tak poora Ahmedabad hi kahan dekha hai... aap yeh booking cancel kar do... baad ka baad mein dekhenge." Sameer tried not to sound annoyed, which he was.
Banging the phone down, he looked back at Naina. She had pulled the quilt over herself.
"Ab koi tang nahi karega... maine keh diya humein kahin nahi jaana." He shifted towards her.
"Kyon nahi jaana? Itni achhi jagah hain yahan pe... dekhni chahiye na... kamre mein baith ke kya karenge." She frowned.
He tugged at the quilt, "Main batata hun kya karenge."
"Sameer." She clutched it tighter at her chest.
"Tumne bulaya aur main aa gaya." He yanked off the quilt, taking her in his arms.
"Bula nahi rahi... uthne ko keh rahi hun." She tried to wriggle out.
He was least interested to leave the bed... or her.
"Abhi tak toh theek se dekha bhi nahi hai iss rang mein tumhe... abhi se kaise jaane dunga." He slid his hand on her side.
"Dekho... agar tum aise karoge toh dubara kabhi nahi pehenungi yeh." She gave him a threatening look.
"Kya Naina, har baat ke liye dhamki deti ho... college mein kasam de di thi... ab yeh naya shuru kar diya... tum biwi ho ya Don?" He said with a sullen face, straightening up.
"Haww... chaar din mein jaan se Don ho gayi... ek hafte baad toh daaku lagungi tumhe." She scowled.
"Lagogi hi... aise har baat mein daant dogi toh aur kya bolun? Log honeymoon pe isliye thodi aate hain ki har samay jhagda karte rahein... ek tum ho... bas taiyar rehti ho Jhansi ki Rani banne ko." He sat back against the headboard, crossing his arms.
"Woh toh main hun." She held her chin high.
"Kya? Don? Ya daaku?" He said dryly.
"Jhansi ki Rani... yaad nahi... tumne hi banaya tha." She raised her brows.
He recalled the times he had called her that... but remained silent.
"Ab bachhon jaise rutho mat... chalo jaake naha lo... bahar jayenge toh achha lagega." She got down from the bed, holding the quilt around her.
He sat sulking... not looking at her.
As she came around the bed, her eyes widened at the sight... the black gown of the nighty lay at one place on the floor... and her saree was spread on the other side of the room. She was horrified... how did both her garments end up on the floor... did she... did she change here... in the room? Quickly looking around, her eyes searched for other clothes... there was nothing.
Sameer watched her halt in the tracks. He saw her gaping at the fallen clothes... and knew what was going on in her mind. He continued to enjoy the changing expressions on her face, till she glanced at him, question in her eyes.
He shrugged... neither agreeing, nor denying.
She squeezed her eyes shut.
His heart melted at her predicament. He had realized one thing... she would always be shy about a few things.
Getting up from the bed, he came to stand behind her, slipping his arms around her, over the thick covering she had wrapped herself in.
"Jaisa tum soch rahi ho waisa nahi kiya tumne... bathroom mein hi change kiya tha... bas saree yahan chodi thi... woh... woh mere pair mein phans ke khul gayi thi." He assured her, speaking a small, little lie to not mortify her further.
She let out the breath she was holding.
"Ab kya isse bhi bathroom mein hi jaa ke hataogi?" He fisted the quilt with one hand.
She nodded.
"Pagal... chodo isse... main hi toh hun yahan... aur mujhe apni biwi ko aise bori bane hue nahi dekhna." He whispered against her ear, slowly pulling the quilt off her.
She loosened her hold on it, letting him take it away.
"Ek baat bolun?" He said softly, throwing it back on bed.
She nodded again.
"Tum agar choti skirt pehenogi toh heroine se bhi zyada kamaal lagogi." His hands reached her legs, near the hem of nighty, making her hold her breath again.
She was reminded of the way he had drooled over heroines in short dresses while watching movie when they were in Ahmedabad during college vacations.
"Ek aur baat bolun?" He whispered again.
She hummed.
"Iss nighty mein koi heroine tumhara muqabla nahi kar sakti." He murmured, stroking the curve of her waist.
She shivered.
"Phir se ek baat bolun?" His voice turned raspy.
She shook her head, unable to take more.
"Bolunga... aur woh yeh ki ya toh tum nahane chali jao... nahin toh aaj ka poora din tumhe issi nighty mein bitana padega." His hot breath burned her ear.
"Main... main jaa rahi hun." She dashed towards her suitcase, taking out clothes for the day before running to the washroom.
Sameer ran a hand through his hair, sighing at her innocence and diffidence.
He picked up the saree and gown, keeping them on the bed.
Once they were ready, they walked out to the restaurant for breakfast. There were just a handful of people, since it was late. Mostly, tourists had breakfast early and left for sightseeing. He noticed one couple on a corner table and two men on another one. The person he was looking for wasn't there in the restaurant.
After breakfast, they went to the reception.
"Sorry sir, jaisa maine aapko bataya tha... ab toh saare cabs nikal chuke hain." The manager was apologetic.
"Koi baat nahi... yahan sabse paas kya hai? Hum walk kar lenge." Sameer smiled.
"Rose garden aur botanical Garden hi hai... woh aap dekh chuke hain... aur woh bhi kareeb 5 kms hai... inn pahadi raaston ki aapko aadat nahi hai toh mushkil hoga walk karna." He informed.
"Chalo aaj yahin ke garden mein baith ke yahan ke nazaare dekh lete hain... aapke hotel ka garden bhi kisi tourist spot se kam nahi hai... kyon Naina?" He looked at her.
She was clearly disappointed. They had planned to visit a place called Wenlock Downs... a little away from the town. Previous day it had to be postponed and today they missed the cabs.
"Sameer, wahan kitni films ki shooting hui hai... mera bohot mann tha." She was dejected.
"Arre kal chalenge na... kal subah jaldi nikal jayenge." Sameer gave her assurance.
"Aap kal ke liye cab karwa dena... subah kitne baje aana hai yeh pehle hi bata do." Sameer looked at the manager.
Before he could answer, a voice reached them from behind, "Main wahin jaa raha hun... mere paas apni car hai... aap log chahen toh mere saath chal sakte hain."
Beaming, Naina turned to look at the person who came with the offer... and smiled.
Sameer turned at the same time... and froze.
He was the same man... tall, well built, with a thick stubble. Dressed in jeans and a T-shirt, he was wearing a stylish leather jacket over it, standing there with hands in pocket... sunglasses hanging from the neck of his tee.
Sameer gritted his teeth as his wife looked at him for affirmation.
"Yes sir, aap inke saath jaa sakte hain... agar aapko koi problem na ho toh." The manager gave his input as well.
"Lekin hum aapko jaante bhi nahi... fir kaise?" Sameer tried to get out of the unpleasant situation.
"Sir, yeh Mr Chauhan hain... Mumbai se aaye hain... filmein banate hain... yahan jagah dekhne aaye hain apni agli film ke liye... hamare hi resort mein theherte hain jab bhi aate hain... aapko darne ki zaroorat nahi hai... inko yahan resort mein sab achhi tarah pehchante hain." Manager's words infuriated Sameer even more.
After everything, the man had to be famous too.
"Sameer, chalte hain na... please... mera kabse mann hai yahan jaane ka... roz kisi na kisi wajah se cancel ho jaata hai... agar hum lautne tak jaa hi nahi paaye toh?" Naina pestered, keen to see the place she had been wanting to see ever since they arrived.
"Aapki wife itna keh rahi hain toh maan jaiye na... aapki nayi shaadi hui lagti hai... shuru se hi apni madam ki baatein manna seekh lijiye, life aasan ho jayegi... experience se bata raha hun." The man chuckled.
"Aapki wife bhi saath hain?" Sameer asked hopefully.
"Meri shaadi nahi hui hai... experience apne aas paas ke logon ko dekh ke aa gaya... filmen banata hun isliye sab baaton ko bohot gaur se dekhta aur samajhta hun." He gave a deep look to Sameer.
Sameer wondered if he was hinting at something... could he understand the dilemma he was going through... could he see the jealousy... could he make out the reason for his hesitation...
"Aap dariye mat... mera aap logon ko kidnap karne ka koi irada nahi hai... maine bas isliye offer kiya ki yahan se guzarte waqt aapki baatein sun li... kyonki main bhi ussi jagah jaa raha hun aur maine badi cab li hui hai isliye aap log saath chalenge toh mujhe koi dikkat nahi hogi." The man offered again.
Sameer looked at the manager, "Inko kaise mil gayi car iss waqt? Aap keh rahe the abhi kuch nahi hai."
"Sir, inhone pehle se hi poore dus din ke liye booking kar rakhi hai... inki cab har samay yahin rehti hai... inka aane jaane ka koi fixed time nahi hai, isliye... yeh jab bhi aate hain aisa hi karte hain... kabhi kabhi toh poore time mein sirf ek ya do baar use karte hain." The manager politely addressed his query.
"Hamare liye bhi aisi hi booking kar dete... aapne bataya hi nahi." Sameer kept the irritation hidden.
"Sorry sir, actually koi normal tourist aisi booking lete nahi hain... kaafi mehengi padti hai... isliye maine aapko nahi kaha." He answered courteously.
"Offo Sameer, kya interview le rahe ho? Chalo na... hamari wajah se inko bhi der ho rahi hai." Naina tugged at his arm, as the man glanced at his watch.
Unwillingly, he agreed, thinking that if he was with her all the time, the man would not dare to do or say something... though he had not done anything yet, except saving her from a fall, and picking up a flower that she had dropped. He had misunderstood the flower incident.
The cab was a luxury car. Mr Chauhan sat next to the driver, leaving the back seat for them.
"Mera naam Gaurav hai... aaj ke iss safar mein hum saathi hain toh ek doosre ka naam toh jaan hi lena chahiye." He introduced himself, turning to face them as the car started.
"Sameer." Sameer said in a dry voice.
Giving him an exasperated look, Naina smiled at the man, "Main Naina... Naina Sameer Maheshwari."
Her introduction finally melted some of Sameer's anger... he looped an arm around her shoulder.
"Paanch saal se saath hain hum dono." He looked at her lovingly.
Mr Chauhan stared in surprise, "Paanch saal ho gaye aapki shaadi ko? Mujhe laga aap yahan honeymoon pe aaye hain."
Naina giggled, "Shaadi toh abhi hi hui hai... paanch saal se hum ek doosre se... matlab jaante hain tabse."
Sameer saw the faint rise of colour on her cheeks... she was shy of telling a stranger that they had been in love all these years.
He tightened his arm, dragging her closer, "Pyar karte hain... aur ab shaadi kar li."
Mr Chauhan smiled, "Achha laga sunkar... zyadatar log itne lambe time tak apna pyar kayam nahi rakh paate... ek doosre mein kamiyaan dikhne lag jaati hain... aur fir rishte bikharne lagte hain... duaa karta hun aap dono ka pyar hamesha aisa hi rahe."
Naina looked up at Sameer, "Rahega... kyonki Sameer mein koi kami hai hi nahi."
He gave her a fond look, "Tumne har kami ko poora kar diya."
"Kya baat hai... agar aap ijazat de toh yeh khyal main apni agli film mein daalna chahunga... kitne khoobsurat shabd hain." Mr Chauhan was clearly impressed.
Sameer felt a bit relaxed now, seeing the easy demeanor of the person he had been hating since they arrived...
"Aap love story bana rahe hain?" Naina asked.
He let out a long exhale, "Abhi toh jiski location dekhne jaa raha hun woh ek yaddasht khone pe based hai... do bichde bhaiyon ki kahani hai... jisme se ek ki yaddasht kho gayi hai."
"Oh... agar aap bura na maane toh kahani ke baare mein batayenge? Kaun actors hain?" Naina was interested.
"Salman Khan ko final kiya hai... ek aur se baat chal rahi hai."
Sameer looked sharply at him... as Naina squealed in delight.
Next update tomorrow morning
