Flight

"Yeh belt lagana hoga tumhe." Sameer  pointed at the flaps on both sides of the seat.

"Car ke jaise?" Naina raised her brows.

"Hmm." He nodded.

She pulled the flaps together... and stared at the similar ends. She didn't know how to secure it.

Sameer waited... ready to do it... and do some more. He suppressed a smile.

A click... and his face fell.

Naina had figured out how to do it.

He looked at her, astounded. She smiled proudly.

"Dekha, maine kar liya... kitni smart hai tumhari biwi." She beamed.

He gave a small smile, muttering to himself, "Kyon hai itni smart."

When the aircraft started to taxi on the runway, Naina animatedly peered out, holding onto Sameer's arm. But as the tail dipped, and the plane rose up, she was scared, hiding her face in his shoulder.

He relaxed... if not the belt, there could be other chances.

"Kya hua, jaan... darr lag raha hai?" He pulled her close, lifting the handrest from between.

His one hand rubbed her waist, the other one stroking her cheek.

"Darr nahin lag raha... bas kuch ajeeb sa laga pet mein... jaise jhoole pe lagta hai... ab theek hai." She straightened, moving away from him to look out of the window.

His fingers lost her feel... making him sulk again.

"Sameer, dekho sab kitna chota chota dikh raha hai." She said in childlike excitement.

And he was excited too, leaning over her, on the pretext of seeing outside. He shifted near her pressing himself against her side.

"Tumhe achha lag raha hai?" He asked in a soft voice.

"Haan, dekho toh... sab kitna sundar lag raha hai... jaise khilone ho... jaise kisine gudiyon ki duniya banayi ho." She was euphoric.

He nestled into her hair, touching her earlobe with his lips, "Sachmuch bohot sundar hai... jaise kisine ek gudiya mere liye banayi ho."

She held his hand, that was sliding on her belly.

"Sameer, yeh... tum..." Her voice quivered as his other hand travelled up her back, touching her nape.

"Tum dekho na bahar... dekho sab kaisa dikhta hai." He whispered against her neck, making her shudder.

Her hands tightened on his wrist, urging him to stop the torment.

He tried to shift further towards her, but the seat belt kept him in his place.

He looked at it in irritation, "Kya musibat hai."

Quickly pulling the clasp apart, he moved closer to her, wrapping his arm around her.

The sound of someone speaking right behind made him sit back straight the next moment, frustration evident on his face.

"Sir, apni seat belt laga lijiye... abhi sign band nahi hua hai." The air hostess approached them from behind.

Sameer looked up at her... seeing his expression, she felt he was not able to do it... maybe being a first time traveller.

"Layiye, main laga deti hun." She leaned, moving her hands towards his belt, much to the chagrin of Naina.

"Main kar dungi... mujhe pata hai." Naina's hand went around his waist, as she gave a forced smile to the air hostess.

She smiled gently and straightened, "Kar dijiye, ma'am... seat belt zaroori hai."

Sameer looked at his wife the moment other woman was gone... her possessiveness exhilarating him.

"Kya baat hai, Naina... aaj pehli baar plane mein aayi ho... aur tumhe sab pata hai." He teased.

"Tum na, chup raho... khud mana nahi kar sakte the usko... main pehli baar aayi hun... tum toh pehle bhi baithe ho na... fir pata nahi chala woh kya keh rahi thi... baith gaye maharaja ke jaise... sab kaam inhe auron se karwana hai... karne wali ladki ho toh bas... apne haath toh chalne hi band ho gaye... yeh nahi ki khud jaldi se belt laga lo... jisse woh kareeb hi nahi aati... lekin Mr Maheshwari ko toh seva karwane ka shauk chada tha..." She fumed.

Sameer sat back, watching her in fascination as she secured his belt, going on with her rants.

"Ab kya but banke baithe ho... belt mat kholna dubara... warna aisa honeymoon hoga na ki yaad rakhoge." She gave him a deadly look.

He held her hand, pulling it towards his heart... with a jerk, her face came close to his.

"Tumhe kya lagta hai main usse yeh karne deta?" He said in a low voice, eyes boring  into hers.

"Yeh sirf tumhara haq hai, Naina... sirf meri jaan ka." His voice was deep.

They were lost into each other's eyes... till the announcement boomed... that the belt could be taken off now as the plane was stable.

Without taking his eyes away from her, Sameer opened his belt.

Naina looked at hers, held the flaps and tried to pull it open. It did not budge... she pulled harder... the buckle remained stuck.

She stared at it in confusion. Closing was easy... she had figured it out when a groove was visible... but now, there was no button, no clip to press... to unclasp the heavy metal thing.

"Main kar dun?" He leaned, whispering in her ear.

She nodded.

With a smile, he slipped one of his hand behind her, holding the belt from other side, and rested one over her leg to hold the other end. Leaning more into her, he inhaled deeply, closing his eyes.

Naina tapped on the back of his hand.

He opened his eyes to look at her.

"Jo kaam kar rahe ho woh karo." She murmured, her lips at his eye level.

His gaze got stuck to the pink invitation.

"Yahin pe?" His voice turned hoarse.

It did not take her any time to understand what he meant.

"Belt." She leaned back, creating space between their faces.

With a childish pout, Sameer lifted the metal top of one side, and the buckles unclasped.

She placed one hand on his cheek and pushed him to his seat, "Ab apni jagah pe baith jao... saara romance yahin pe karna hai kya?"

His hand around her waist kept a tight hold, making her slip on his chest as he straightened, "Tum tension mat lo, yeh romance toh ab zindagi bhar chalega... plane ho, train ho, ghar ho, bahar ho... sab jagah... tumhe dekh ke aur kuch soojhta hi nahi."

She placed one hand on his chest, fiddling with the button, "Achha... mujhe toh laga tumhe bohot kuch soojhta hai... college mein toh badi baatein karte the... Madhuri ki, Raveena ki, Juhi ki."

He was about to say something when his eyes narrowed as a memory nagged him.

"Naina, college se yaad aaya... kal sab log result ke naam pe itna hans kyon rahe the... tum hamesha hi top karti ho... school mein, college mein... aisa kya keh diya maine jo sab mujhe aise dekh rahe the." He frowned with the recollection.

The memory of his conversation made her cheeks flare up. She moved back to her seat, head lowered.

"Bolo na... tum kal bhi nahi bol rahi thi... ab bhi chup ho gayi... bhabhi ne toh budhhu tak keh diya mujhe." He pursed his lips.

When she still did not say anything, he felt there was something more to this... and he was curious.

"Naina, kya koi aur baat hai? Batao mujhe." He held her shoulders, making her look at him.

"Tum... rehne do bas... kuch nahi." She felt her pulse go faster.

Sameer had to know now.

"Tumhe meri kasam... jaldi bolo." He knew she could not back out after this.

Her eyes shot up, "Yeh kya hai... itni si baat ke liye koi kasam deta hai bhala?"

He gave a lopsided smile, "Tumse hi seekha hai."

Her eyes fell behind lashes again.

He shook her shoulders lightly, "Kasam ke baad bhi nahi bata sakti? Aisa kya keh diya maine jo mujhe hi nahi pata?"

"Woh... woh... aunty... uss wali khushkhabari ki baat kar rahi thi." She said hesitantly.

"Uss wali? Kaunsi wali?" He was puzzled.

"Woh jo... umm... shaadi ke baad... matlab... " She was mortified.

"Offo Naina, mujhe bhi nahi bata sakti kya... mujhse thodi itna sharmana chahiye tumhe." He was impatient now.

"Jaise Pooja didi ka Golu hai na... waisi wali khushkhabari." She blurted out... and squeezed her eyes shut.

Sameer continued to look at her for a few moments, wondering how Golu was linked with their exam results... suddenly the realisation struck him.

It wasn't about the exams. It was never about the exams. Rahul's mother was not talking about their results.

A wide smile spread on his face, "Itni si baat ke liye itna sharma rahi ho... Naina, yeh toh hoga hi." He leaned towards her ears, "Par mujhe Golu nahi, gudiya chahiye."

She covered her face with her hands.

He pulled her in his arms, "Uff, meri sharmili biwi... abhi se aise karogi toh jab sach mein khushkhabari ka time aayega tab kya hoga tumhara?"

She trembled against his chest.

He kissed the top of her head, "Abhi se mat ghabrao... usmein bohot waqt hai."

The air hostess got their food trays shortly. Naina enjoyed her first meal in air, mesmerised at the outside view as they flew over clouds.

Sameer asked for a blanket after the meal, spreading it over themselves. She was thankful for the warmth... the strong air conditioning had been making her cold since she had her meal.

Sameer had other plans though.

He held her around the waist, resting his head on hers.

"Tum seedhe nahi baith sakte kya? Baar baar aise... koi dekhega toh achha thodi lagta hai." She gave him a flustered look.

"Maine kaha na... yahan koi nahi dekh raha... humne kisi ko dekha kya abhi tak?" He tightened his arm, reaching out for her other hand under the blanket.

She leaned, looking at the people across the passage... and was shocked to see the young couple kissing.

Watching her startled expression, Sameer turned to look back, and immediately turned towards her.

"Hum toh abhi tak yahan pohoche bhi nahi." He grinned.

"Kaise log aate hain plane mein... sabke samne... jaise humne dekha, koi aur bhi dekh sakta hai." She was aghast.

"Kya yaar Naina, hamesha koi dekh lega, koi dekh lega... arre, kya fark padta hai... hamari bakayada shaadi hui hai sabke saamne... khullam khulla pyar kar sakte hain... aur abhi hum apne honeymoon pe jaa rahe hain... abhi nahi toh kya dus saal baad pyar karenge aise?" He was agitated.

Naina gave him a surprised look, "Matlab tum dus saal baad pyar nahi karoge? Itna sa hi hai tumhare paas... jo tab tak khatm ho jayega?"

Seeing his astonished expression she leaned back, "Sun lo, Mr Maheshwari, mujhse itni aasani se peecha nahi chootega tumhara... dus saal kya... main toh dus janam bhi tumse hi pyaar karungi... woh bhi dher saara... jo kabhi khatm nahi hoga... tumhari tarah kanjoos nahi hun... aur yeh saabit kar sakti hun."

Before he could make out the meaning of her words, she pulled the blanket over their heads... and wrapped her arms around his neck, taking his mouth for a hard, deep and passionate kiss.

Sameer was stunned for a moment... brightening the next... and pressed her against himself, delving deeper into her mouth, taking control of the kiss.

She clutched the hair behind his neck when his hands moved freely on her, not under any restriction any more.

"Bas tum aise hi karti raho... dus janam kya sau janam bhi tumse chipak ke rahunga." He mumbled against her ear when they parted for breath.

The flight reached its destination shortly. They had to cover the rest of the distance by road.

Sameer had already arranged a car through the travel agent. They started their journey to the beautiful hill station of Ooty... huddled close to each other.
