Dil Deewana

After the visit to rose garden, Naina and Sameer had lunch at a restaurant on the way to the lake.

The huge lake appeared even more beautiful than what it looked in the movie. They were surprised to know it wasn't a natural lake... seeing the sheer size of it. Surrounded all around by dark hills and tall eucalyptus trees, it was another world... beautiful and serene.

Brightly painted boats were lined across the shore. Few could be seen floating on the lake as well.

Sameer booked a row boat... a pedal boat would have let them be alone but it would need them to sit with a considerable distance between them, which was not acceptable to him. This one was perfect. He could keep her close while they enjoyed the ride. Unlike her Salman, he didn't want to row either, taking the man along who would do it for them as they clicked pictures and enjoyed being with each other.

The life jackets that were essential for all those who went boating were given to them along with the tickets.

"Haww Sameer, yeh yellow jacket mere suit ke saath achhi nahi lagegi." Naina whined as he handed her the life jacket.

"Ab unhone bas ek hi rang ki jacket rakhi hain... unhe kya pata tha Mrs Maheshwari apne pati ke favourite colour mein yahan aayengi." He chuckled.

She narrowed her eyes at him... widening them the next moment.

"Kya hua?" He was alert.

"Ab mujhe pata chala yeh yellow kyon hain... yahan toh sab Salman aur Bhagyashree ki wajah se hi aate hain na... sab fans unke jaise peele kapde pehente honge... isliye jacket unse matching hain... mujhse hi galti ho gayi... dhyan hi nahi raha... sab tumhari galti hai... jab dekho pink pink karte rehte ho... main bhool gayi ki boating mein mujhe pink nahi yellow pehenna tha... aakhir Dil deewana gaane ke liye waisa dikhna bhi toh chahiye tha." She fretted, pouting at him.

Her cribbing enthralled him to such an extent that he spread his arms to hug her, "Tum jo bhi pehen ke gaa do, main toh bas tumhe dekh ke hi deewana ho jaata hun."

"Mr Maheshwari, zara control rakho apne pe... tum koi Salman nahi ho jo yahan sabke samne yeh sab..." She said in a stern voice, stalling him with her hand.

"Ab mujhe Salman banna bhi nahi... tum bhool gayi usse... meri wajah se... Naina, meri jaan, ab tum uska jitna marzi naam le lo... mujhe koi jalan nahi hogi... tumne aaj mere liye pink pehenke jo khushi di hai uske liye ek kiss toh banta hai." He took her in his arms, not deterred by her frowning look.

"Achha ab kiss ke liye toh control kar lo... chalo yeh jacket pehno." She pushed him away, suppressing a smile at his extreme elation at such a small thing.

They stepped into the boat, holding hands... and sat on the wooden board.

"Yahan sab kuch Lonavala ki yaad dila raha hai." She reminisced as they reached the center of the lake.

"Woh hamare honeymoon ki hi practice thi... maine kaha tha tab bhi... aur dekho, sab waisa hi lag raha hai." He shifted close to her, slipping his hand around her waist.

She leaned on his shoulder. Everything was so perfect... exactly how she had always imagined...

As the boat took a turn, they could see the mountain slopes, covered with flowers of different colours. Naina excitedly pointed to him.

"Dekho Sameer, kitna khoobsurat lag rahaa hai... sab jagah bas phool hi phool hain... kitne saare rangon mein... jaise phoolon ka sheher ho." She sat up straight, tilting her head to the side.

Sitting so close to her, with her porcelain cheek right in front of him, Sameer couldn't control himself... and planted a kiss on her cheek.

The smile froze on her lips. She quickly looked around... no one seemed to be looking at them, even the person rowing the boat was looking down at water as it rippled under the boat.

She gave a slanting glance to Sameer, and lowered her eyes shyly. After all, it was the first time he had done so in front of so many people.

"Ab aise sharmaogi toh aur pyaar aa jayega... fir mat kehna yahan sab log hain." He said in a low, husky whisper.

"Tum na..." She gave him a quick peck on the cheek, "bohot pyaare ho."

Sameer was pleasantly surprised at her candor... she was always conscious about getting close in front of others... and today she kissed him in full view of so many people.

He realised the meaning of song Dil Deewana bin sajna ke... it was difficult to keep yourself in control at such a beautiful place, in such romantic surroundings where almost each boat had couples lost amongst themselves.

They clicked more photographs, solos as well as together... with the help of the person on their boat. Naina wanted to try rowing. She sat opposite Sameer, holding both oars in her hands, squealing in delight as the boat moved with her efforts.

"Main chala sakti hun." She pulled her hands away when he tried to take the heavy wooden oars from her.

"Chala liya, ab bas karo warna haathon mein chaale pad jayenge." He forcibly took them from her.

He had enough experience from his Nainital days to know how painful it would be to get blisters on hands... how could he knowingly let Naina go through that pain...

Full round of the  lake took more than an hour. By the time they reached back at the same point where they started, tiredness had started to seep in their limbs.

"Wapas chalein? Baaki kal ghoom lenge." Sameer suggested.

She readily agreed.

The cab took them back to the hotel. He thought of making the booking for next day at the reception, but the memory of the time when he last made Naina wait made him change his mind. They walked back to their room.

"Naina, tum rest karo, main zara kal ke liye baat karke aata hun." He told her before going out again.

At the sound of door being closed, she quickly got up from the bed, going to the place where her clothes were placed.

"Sameer mere liye hamesha sab kuch khaas banata hai... aaj ki shaam main uske liye khaas banaungi." She thought, searching for the packet in her suitcase.

To her utter shock, the bag contained only one nighty... the one gifted by Sonali.

She slapped her forehead. Since the packing was done in a hurry, she had by mistake, kept this packet instead of the one which had the two pieces she had bought.

"Kabhi koi kaam sahi mat kar lena tu... pagal ladki... kam se kam itna dhyan toh rakhna tha na... ab kya karegi... dono rakhi bhi ek saath thi... dono hi ghar pe reh gayi... laayi bhi toh yeh... jo kabhi pehen nahi sakti." She vented out in frustration.

Looking back at the open packet, her anger was directed towards Sonali, "Akal nahi hai usko bhi... jaanti toh hai mujhe... ki kaise kapde pehen sakti hun... fir kya zaroorat thi yeh wali lene ki... koi dhang ki hoti toh kam se kam pehen sakti thi na... ab yeh na kisi kaam ki hai, na phenk sakti hun... hai toh uska tohfa hi na."

She shoved the packet to the bottom of her suitcase, closing it shut before going to stand near the window.

"Bhagwan ji, aapne saari galtiyaan meri hi kismat mein likhi hain kya? Sameer bhi sochega ki main kabhi uske liye kuch karti hi nahi." She brooded, looking at the sky.

The click of the door made her turn to see him entering the room... a wide grin on his face.

"Pata hai kya hua?" He ran to her in excitement.

Her own grumbling forgotten in a moment, she raised inquisitive brows towards him.

"Kal iss hotel ki anniversary hai... inhe dus saal ho rahe hain... iske liye ek special party hai jismein humein bhi bulaya hai... saare guests ke liye bohot saare programs aur dance bhi hai... tumhe pasand hai na aisi dance party?" He spilled animatedly.

At the back of her mind, she again cursed herself... he was still keeping the things of her liking prior to anything else... and she...

"Bolo na... achha lagega na tumhe wahan jaake?" He curbed her chain of thoughts.

Seeing her reluctance, he frowned, "Naina, agar tum nahi chahti toh hum nahi jayenge... koi zaroori thodi hai."

He face broke into an enthusiastic  smile, "Arre buddhu, jayenge... pakka jayenge... main toh bas yeh soch rahi thi ki kya pehnu... koi party ke layak kapde toh main laayi nahi."

"Itni si baat... hum kal shopping kar lenge... jo achha lage le lena." He eased her fears, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Waise saree logi toh alag mazaa ayega... jitne mauke saree mein milte hain... " He left his sentence incomplete, rubbing his hand on the sides of her waist.

The colour spread on her cheeks.

"Umm... Naina... ek baat bolun?" He looked at her hesitantly.

"Bolo na... itna soch kya rahe ho?" She urged.

"Ek minute." He ran back to his suitcase, coming back with a bag in a moment.

He held it out to her. She peeked into it... the pink, satin material inside made her heart jump to her mouth... had he heard the rants... was he aware of what she wanted to do and failed...

Seeing the confusion in her eyes, he took her in his arms, "Ab bhi sharmaogi? Main kabse tumhe iss pink satin ki nighty mein dekhna chahta tha... yahan toh pehen sakti ho na?"

She gulped, nodding.

His eyes turned into pools of desire in a fraction of a second.

"Jab maine yeh nighty dekhi thi dukaan mein, tab se soch raha hun tum kaisi lagogi ismein." He murmured against her lips, grabbing her waist to pull her closer.

"Sameer, main... main raat ko pehenungi." She shivered as his fingers dug into her skin through the soft fabric of her dress.

"Naina, mera dil bhi tumhara aisa deewana hai ki har pal bas tumhe dekhna chahta hai... tumhe mehsoos karna chahta hai." He peered into her eyes.

She knew he was referring to the song... Salman's song.

Her heartbeat quickened as his hot breath fanned her face, the heat from his body searing through her. She could not look away from the intense longing in his eyes, her insides melting at the piercing gaze.

His hand moved up her waist, going into her open hair till it reached the back of her head. Tilting it behind, he placed his lips on the silky smoothness of her throat.

His name escaped her lips in a soft, urgent tone, as his other hand pressed in the small of her back, at the base of spine.

Her hands fervently reached the buttons of his shirt... the helpless pieces losing their threads as she pulled at them. He loved it when she expressed her desire, shrugging off the shirt once it fell open, half the buttons on the floor.

His muscles rippled under her palm, making her shudder. He pulled her up... she lifted her heels to match his height, looking into his eyes that had dark rings around them.

Before he could take her lips, a shrill sound of doorbell made them jerk.

She stiffened, squirming to move out of his hold.

He did not leave her. The bell rang again.

"Dekho jaake, kaun hai." She pushed at his chest.

"Rehne do na... jo hoga chala jayega... yahan kaunsa humein koi jaan pehchan ka milne aayega." He tightened his hold on her, planning to continue what was halted.

"Nahi Sameer, please dekho toh... agar hotel mein koi bell baja ke aata hai toh kaam se hi aaya hoga na." She leaned to the side, away from his dipping face.

With a sigh, he left her, turning to open the door.

"Ek minute, aise hi jaoge kya?" She panicked, seeing his shirtless state.

"Toh kya hua... shirt pehenna to bekar hai... tumne usse iss layak choda hi nahi." He winked.

She grabbed a towel, and put it across his neck, ignoring the tease.

Smiling, he adjusted the towel, and went to answer the door.
