Chapter 9: The Deal
Killer Croc wakes up. He looks around to see he's in a holding container. (like the ones at S.T.A.R. Labs.) William! His son was not with him. He needs to get out and find him. He tries to break the glass, but no success. He continues for 7 minutes straight but no luck. He had to see if his son was okay.
"You can't break free."
Croc looks to see Oliver Queen in his Green Arrow suit walking up to him.
"The glass is made of Clearstone, one of the hardest substance known to human. Impenetrable by any living being, Waylon Jones." Oliver said. Croc growled at hearing his real name.
"It's Killer Croc now, bitch. I've been locked in cages far worse than this. I... will... break... free. Where am I?! Where's my son?!" Croc said.
"You're in the Hall of Justice in Central City. You're son is safe. He's in our playroom. Filled with toys, games, books, and TV." Oliver said. Croc was a little relief to here his son's okay.
"What's his name and how old is he?" Oliver asked.
"William. He's 10 years old." Croc answered.
"Since when do you have a kid? Is that why you haven't committed any crimes lately? What about that crime gang that was slaughtered?" Oliver asked. Croc just gave him a nasty glare.
"None of your damn business and those bitches deserved to die." Croc said.
"Not even criminals deserve that kind of death." Oliver said.
"The ones who threatened to use my son as leverage against me do. And I'll kill anyone who hurts my son." Croc said.
"I respect that you care for your son and you're trying to protect him, but there's a line between protecting and killing." Oliver said.
"I have a daughter and son. I would do anything to protect, except to kill." He said to the Crocodile man.
"You've gotten soft. You use to kill baddies too." Croc hissed.
"That was the man I was before. I learned from my mistakes and became a better man. Unlike you, I don't eat or kill good or bad people." Oliver said in anger a bit.
"So what? I'm no hero like you or your super pals. People hated my ever since I was born and treated me like a monster, so I became a monster." Croc said.
"Who's the mother?" Oliver asked. He knew he must have married or mated with a woman to have a kid.
"She's died from Cancer. She made me promise to protect our son from anyone no matter what. I finally got someone who loved me, someone who gave birth to a beautiful boy, only to die later. My son is the only thing left of that love. I'm not going to let him go through the same things I did as a child." Croc said.
Oliver did feel bad for him to have a terrible childhood, but it was his choice to be a criminal. He was surprised to see that Killer Croc is a father and it shown a completely new side of him.
"And I'm sure she would be happy that you're doing that but there is a line that you're crossing. Wouldn't it be better to leave the city to go somewhere safe?" Oliver asked. Croc never thought of that. It would be easy to settle somewhere safe from crime, but Gotham was his home. He had a reputation there as a criminal. But for his son's sake? Maybe?
"I'll check with you later." Oliver said as he leaves. Just before he left the room, Croc spoke one last time.
"You're not going to take him from me, are you?" Croc asked with a little fear in his voice. Oliver looked back to him with a little smile.
"I would never separate one from their child, not even a criminal." He said as he walks away. Croc sighed in relief and started to think on what's going to happen next.

The heroes were all discussing on what to do with Killer Croc and his son. While Croc was locked in the HOJ's prison cells, William was in a different room with toys, books, games, and a TV. It was a big conversation with the fate of the man-eating crocodile man and his son.
"Are we sure that's Killer Croc's son?" Rayburn Jr. asked.
"While they were unconscious, I took DNA blood samples from them to see if it was true, and it confirms it. The kid is Killer Croc's son." Caitlin said.
"This is just crazy! What woman would love and marry Killer Croc?" Al said.
"A crazy desperate one or one who got to get Croc to go soft." Danny said.
"That's the kid we met earlier before the party." Dirk said.
"Did he say what his name is?" Flasheart asked.
"His name is William." Freddy answered.
"We thought he was wearing a costume." Jack said.
"Well, clearly he wasn't." Fire Man said. They then see Oliver coming back from interrogating Croc.
"So what did he said?" Kara asked.
Oliver then told everyone what Croc told him, how he did find love with a woman that gave birth to his kid, to later dying from Cancer. Leaving him to raise his son by himself and telling him that he will do anything to protect him from anyone who tries to hurt him. After hearing, the heroes felt a little sympathy for Killer Croc going through all that. Explains why he didn't committed crimes as much and why he killed that gang from taking his son.
"Wow. Can't believe that Killer Croc had to go through all that." Barry said.
"I kinda feel sorry for him." Sara said. Suddenly, Wave Man then started to cry.
"That's the saddest thing I ever heard. To find true love only for she to die later." Wave Man said crying.
"But this leaves us with a big question: What do we do with them now?" Nate said. They were all stumped on to answering it.
Then Kara and Barry spoke up.
"What if we can get Croc to join the Justice League. We protect his son from any danger. His son could be the key to getting Croc to change his ways." Barry said.
"His son obvious loves him and he could get Killer Croc to change." Kara said.
"Killer Croc joining the JL! Have you all lost your minds?! The Justice League is a team for superheroes, not serial killers or criminals." Hotspur said.
"Take it easy, brother. This could be a good idea." Flasheart said.
"Never. You can't trust a criminal, killer, or villain." Hotspur said looking at Barry and Kara.
"Uh, I use to be a criminal and killer like Croc." Frost said stepping up feeling defensive.
"I was a criminal and proud of it." Mick said adding his voice to the conversation.
"I was a criminal and killer too." King Shark said.
"Same here with me and Ember being criminals." Skulker said holding his wife close to him with his kid.
"Same here with all of us." Fire Man said pointing to him and the other Robot Masters.
"Well, at least you guys didn't eat people, besides King Shark." Hotspur said.
"If we can change, Croc can too. Maybe I can get to him, seeing how we're both Killers." Frost said.
"Croc had plenty of times to change in prison, but he always goes back to his dirty disgusting habits. How do you think the public is going to react when they see Killer Croc with us and not in prison. They'll probably think we're harboring a criminal when he should be behind bars." Hotspur said.
"Hotspur does have a point. Even if we let him join us, he still has to pay for his crimes." Ryan Wilder said.
"Well, if Croc goes to prison, we can't put William in an orphanage or the foster system. He will be hated and likely get killed for being related to "the Killer Croc." Plus he will not want to be separated from his father." Goliath said.
"Maybe Cecile can cut a deal with the court and D.A.'s office to give him probation for good behavior if we get him to change." Barry suggested.
"I still think this is a bad idea." Hotspur said.
"It wouldn't hurt to try." Cisco said.
"Yeah, I mean it would be kinda cool to have Killer Croc on the Justice League." Chester said.
"What do you think, Oliver?" Laurel asked. Everyone then looked at him to decide. He was the leader of the Justice League, so it was up to him to make the official decision. He then thought about William, he told Croc he wouldn't separate him from his child.
"I think we should go with trying to change Killer Croc to join us." Oliver said. The heroes smiled at hearing this.

Killer Croc was laying down in his cell thinking about what was going to happen to him and William. The Heroes were no doubt about it talking about what to do with them. Were they going to separate them? Will he ever see William again? So many questions going on into his mind that he was actual scared. Scared? Him? He was Killer Croc, he doesn't get scared, or did he? Suddenly he heard footsteps coming and turn to see Oliver with Flash, Supergirl, Frost, Heatwave, and Batwoman. He got up to face them.
"So what are you going to do with me and my son?" Killer Croc asked.
"We talked about... and we came to an agreement. Waylon Jones a.k.a Killer Croc, would you like to join the Justice League?" Oliver said.
Croc was surprised to hear this. Him? Join the Justice League, the world's greatest heroes? It must be a joke. He was no hero. Why would they invite him to be on their team. The world would never see him as a hero.
"Even if I considered it, why would you want me to join your league? What's in it for me?" Croc asked.
"Your son. We will have no choice to send you to prison for all of your crimes. Which means you'll be separated from William, who will be with us. If you change your ways to being good... you can stay with him." Kara said.
"My friend Cecile, who is a meta-lawyer can offer a deal to the court and D.A.'s office to drop all the charges against you and give you probation for good behavior IF you can redeem yourself." Barry said.
"It's your choice, Croc, what's it going to be? Do you want what's best for William? He loves you, doesn't he?" Ryan said.
"It wouldn't matter. People will never see me as a hero and continue to treat me as a monster. What about William? They'll probably think he'll be like me and lock him up as well. I'm not risking it." Croc said.
"We can protect you and him. The League always have each other's back. I was a criminal and a killer as well, Croc. The public hated me, but after I changed and showed my true self, people started to love me. Hell, they even named a frozen drink after me." Frost said.
"I was a criminal too. Killed a lot of people as well. Same with Skulker, Ember, King Shark, and the Robot Masters. We all got a chance to redeem ourselves." Mick said.
"So... what's it going to be? It's up to you now?" Oliver said.
Croc thought hard on this. To be a member of the Justice League, it sounds too great. There was a chance that this could work. To feel like a hero? To have people cheer for you? To be treated with respect? It sounds great. And for William to go out and have fun. He would be happy and proud to see his dad a member of the Justice League. He couldn't go to jail again, especially with William being separated from him. He'll have to try hard to get use to being a hero if he wants to stay with William. He then knew what choice to make. For William.
"I... accept your offer." Croc said in defeat. The heroes smiled at hearing that. Oliver then opened the cell. Once the doors opened, Croc walked right out. He felt like not to attack again and was desperate to see his son.
"Can I see William?" He asked.
Oliver nodded. They then headed to the playroom. As they did, the heroes are on guard in case Croc starts to fight again. They open the room to see William playing with some toys and reading a bit. He looks up to see his dad okay.
"Dad!" William exclaimed as he rushed over and gave Croc a big hug with tears in his eyes. Croc hugged him tightly in fatherly love.
"I missed you." He said to Croc while crying a bit.
"I missed you too." Croc said softly. He lets go and looks at William in the eyes.
"I'll always love you, my son." He said with a smile.
"So what's going to happen now?" William asked. Croc then explained on what's going to happen. He decided to join the Justice League and hopefully the charges against him will be dropped so he can be with him.
"Wow dad. You being a member of the Justice League?! That's great! I told you that there were good people out there." William said as hugs his dad. Croc chuckles a bit.
"Guess I was wrong, son." Croc said. He gets up with William in his arms facing the heroes.
"So what now? When do I go fight crime?" Croc asked. Before anyone can, the alarms go off crazy. Felicity rushed to them.
"Umm, guys? We got a BIG problem." Felicity said as they head to the main room with the other league members there.
"What's the problem?" Oliver asked. Chester and Felicity were on the computers to show them on the big screen.
"We've got a bunch of villains attacking different cities at the same time. Vortex Ghost, Weather Wizard, and Wilderwolves attacking Central City. Executioner Ghost, Heat Monger, Bug-Eye Bandit and Weather Witch attacking National City. Shade, Deathbolt, Top and Mirror Master attacking Stoker City. Turtle 2, Ragdoll, and Peeka-Boo attacking Keystone City. Dr. Light, Sunshine, and Tarpit attacking Milford City. Quarrymen, Trickster, Multiplex, and Sergeant Night attacking Amity Park. Metallo, Godspeed, and The Royal Flush Gang attacking Star City. All of these guys are attacking the cities." Chester said.
"Whoa, that's a lot of villains." Ray said.
"What do we do now?" J'onn asked.
"We're going to break into different teams so we can take them down." Oliver said. He then broke the teams down.
"Flasheart, Laurel, Lobo, Ava, and Behrad will go to Central City. Rayburn Jr."
"Tigre, Al, Spooner, Astra, and Bart will go to Keystone City."
"Zari, Nate, J'onn, Wally, and Rayburn Jr. will go to Amity Park."
"Diggle, Wulf, Toro, Mick, Frost, and Cisco will go to Stoker City."
"Skulker, Ember, Ray, Barril, the Gargoyles will go to Keystone City."
"Gorila, Garth, Nora, Clark, Constantine, Ryan, and Hotspur will go to Milford City."
"Me, Barry, Kara, Sara, Mia, and Croc will go to Star City." Oliver said. They nodded in agreement and starts to get ready.
"Why would all these villains attack at the same time in different cities?" Astra asked.
"Probably to distract us from something they're doing. Separating the predator from the prey." Skulker said.
"Then we need to figure it out before more damage is done." Garth said. They then headed out to the other cities.
Freddy, Jack, Dirk, Quint, June, Aki, and Danny walk up to Oliver.
"What are we going to do?" Freddy asked.
"You kids are going to stay here and watch over William and the base." Oliver said.
"What? Why us? It is because we asked?" Dirk said.
"No, because you guys already met him and he would be more comfortable with you. Maybe you can get talk about how Croc's been acting with him." Oliver replied. The kids nodded as Fire Man and Drill Man walk up to them.
"Probably should have kept your mouths shut." Drill Man said before he and Fire Man laugh.
"The Robot Masters will stay here as well." Oliver added shocking the two.
"What?! It is because—" Drill Man started before Oliver cut him off.
"Yes." Oliver said quickly. Drill Man and Fire Man groan at this while the kids laugh a bit.
"I don't know about this. What if it doesn't work." Croc said.
"Don't worry. You'll have us by your side." Barry said as he actives his cowl and ran. Killer Croc then saw William run to him.
"Daddy. Please be safe." William said to his dad. Croc then hugged him.
"I will. I love you son." Croc said as he gets up and heads off after the heroes.
Killer Croc now has a chance of redemption and to stay with his son. Will he be able to behave and go from killer to hero? And what's the villain's plan? More chapters coming up!
