two.
Two.
"Being different can attract the greatest friendship together."
― UPON ARRIVING TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE FACTORY I WATCHED AS COURTNEY HAD FEAR IN HER EYES, AND MY FATHER'S MACHINE WAS HAVING PROBLEMS. I would say it was safe in ways, other than the sparks coming out of the machine throughout it as I stood a few feet away from the machine. Just for precaution. Until the staff was being pointed at me and I moved back almost falling stupidly with wings and body armor. I can't believe at one point my mother would have worn this easily.
"Courtney." My father said as she then still was pointing the staff to him luckily. "I mean it Pat. And whoever this winged person is." She said as I gasped, wanting to say something knowing she was scared and it would risk me getting identified in the open and being seen by someone more than Courtney. "I can explain." He continued as she yelled, "So explain." As I looked at her before looking behind her making sure no-one was around.
"First I need to get you somewhere safe Ok." My father said moving the controls in the robot to put his hand down for Courtney as she looked back and I started flapping my wings as the air helped lifting me up as I started to fly above them watching Courtney get on the robot as it launched into flying as I flew next to it. Watching as she was holding on to him as I flew next to him with a small amount of distance.
When I was finally able to land next to my father I used my wings to help embrace the impact by not landing so hard. I watched as the garage was opening and he walked in with Courtney on his back as I still had my wings out watching as he moved out of the robot. Hearing the rambling between Courtney and the staff was hard to listen to as she was scared of me, the robot, and whoever was chasing her.
When I finally took off the helmet I could finally get changed back into my more comfortable clothing from this time. Putting the helmet down on the table I watched as my father was trying to help Courtney. She started to explain her attacker as I still had my wings out trying to get them to hide once again; the hard part about having them bonded to you. They hate going back into hiding, after so long of hiding them and not using them they feel free and want to be free.
I turned around when I heard the sentence from my father, "He's called Brainwave." The telepathic who also from what I have heard in stories that he is very powerful and can form force fields around himself. "One of the Justice Society Enemies." He stated as I turned back, "A member of the Injustice Society of America." He continued to say as I grabbed my clothing.
"Johnny Thunder, Hawkman, Hawkgirl." He listed some of the names of who Brainwave killed ten years ago as my eyes widened and my wings flapped and Courtney jumped. "So who killed Starman?" She said as I looked at them both studying them. "Their leader Icicle." He said as I have heard that name too many times when I started to live with my father. "So where is he?" Courtney asked looking even at me as I shrugged my shoulders. As they both continued to fight about this whole situation.
"No more secrets. No More lies." She said as even I knew the answer, "And why does Kyra have wings?" She asked as I looked at her being able to put them back. "Because of DNA." I said walking off to the bathroom knowing that it didn't make any sense to them but you know sometimes it's better to sound stupid and walk away then explain everything to someone.
Returning back into the basement finally as my father was explaining the same thing to Courtney that he did to me, on how Hourman, Rex Tyler, sent him crates full of stuff from research, to other various objects he collected in his search to find the Injustice Society of America.
"Why did he give it to you?" Courtney asked as I knew the options were between badly injured Ted Grant who was god knows where. Or Pat who also had the daughter of his two trusted teammates Hawkman and Hawkgirl. So the options were clear to what he had to choose. And besides I know how to fight so it isn't like I couldn't take out anyone. I have training from all those years ago and all the memories, even though they haunt me too.
I listened to the two of them continue the conversation about my father's big robot, "I thought I could help Hourman, but he wanted to go it alone." He said as I nodded knowing it was the truth I could even remember the conversation. I even had met his children; unknown to Pat at one point when I was younger due to my parents, but he doesn't need to know that because who knows if they still live in Blue Valley.
"I never use that Robot ever until tonight. It was my first time." He said as I nodded, "Ok but then what about your wings Kyra?" She asked as I looked at her, "I have had them since I was born, and beside I'm not Pat's real daughter if you believe he has wings. I'm the daughter of the mighty Hawkman and Hawkgirl through the years I have been alive." I told her as she looked at me and I nodded grabbing the photo that I had with them from all those years ago. I watched as my father did look at me as I started to walk upstairs. As I listened to them fighting again but this time about Courtney wanting to go out and being a hero. Until I sat on the bay window in Courtney's room in the dark.
"So if you are their daughter how did you meet Pat?" Courtney asked, making me jump this time as she came in and turned on one of the smaller lights. "Pat met me after my mother came back from a mission wanting revenge. She left me with him until she could return and we could go home. Thing was she never returned and later on died once again leaving me with Pat who later on took me in as his own daughter and since then I have been grateful for having someone who has taken care of me. Unlike my past lives when my parents died I died the same day." I told her as I could feel the tears flowing down my eyes. My hand moved up and wiped them as I looked at her.
"If you truly want to go after them, Pat is right in ways. But I will support you and help you since I want justice for my parents." I told her as I got up and left the room not hearing another word as I then retired to my bed for the night.
When I got up I watched as my father was making breakfast as he had bruises and scratches all over his face, as I knew he must have got them from working on that darn robot again. Once he finished making them I helped him put them down on the table as Barbara was questioning them as I was just eating one of the blueberry pancakes. I was currently reading studies on the human mind in a book called, "Understanding the Human Mind: Why You Shouldn't Trust what Your Brain is Telling You
Book" by Gabriel Stowe Terrell and John Edward Terrell.
I did watch as Barbara was talking about her first day at her job, and how she got up as I had another set of blueberry pancakes. After Courtney left to do whatever; probably to steal the suit of Starman. As I finished and quickly washed my plate, I put it in the dishwasher as I grabbed my bag and stood at the top of the stairwell waiting for Courtney to come here with either her bag full, or a duffle bag.
― BEFORE MY FATHER COULD QUESTION ME THIS MORNING I PUT ON MY GREY, WHITE JACKET, AND A BLACK TOP AND DARK RED AND BLACK STRIPED SKIRT AND MY BLACK HEEL BOOTS. I headed out to my car knowing I was most likely being watched from my father, but I still did it anyways. I did hear my father call for me as I opened the door then opened the garage to my car, but I couldn't just stay and wait for him to ask me even though I might be in trouble at the end of the day.
When I started to drive I watched as my father walked up to the window watching me as I stared at him with my eyes not giving up on this battle. As I continued to look at the road, today I thought about everything from the past few weeks.
Once I arrived I met up with Stephaine once she finally finished her run here, "You ran five miles just to get here." I told her as she laughed, "It was nothing, it wasn't like the time where it was raining and it started flooding and I didn't hear about school ending and I ran here." She told me as I laughed as I knew she did that and she had to get rescued by Lawrence Crock, and her aunt four hours after hanging on the flagpole.
"And then you have to hang on the school's flagpole for four hours waiting until your aunt and Lawrence Crock could come out and pull you to the boat." I told her as she looked at me when I laughed at it. "Well you on the other hand couldn't hang on for more than twenty minutes." She said as I could do more than that now, but at that time I would have dropped.
Walking into the schools and through the hallways I noticed how the new girl walked out of the home ick classroom with a duffle bag which was odd, since I don't think she is doing any sports at the moment. So she was hiding something, but you know unless her problem conflicts with my life then I shouldn't suspect her of any ideas. But I do....deep down somewhere in me knows she is hiding something and she did something in that home ick room.
― DIRTY BLONDE THE HAIR COLOR OF THE CO-OWNER AND BUSINESS EXECUTIVE OF PROJECT AMERICA. When I walked in everyone started to talk and go to different sides of the room some waving, and some getting back to work. What did help is Steve Sharpe was staring down at everyone making sure they were working, while watching over me. Part of me wanted to feel like it was creepy, and another part of me was used to it since this is the work environment i'm in currently.
"Meeting in 5." He told me as I nodded heading to my office down the hall, as I pushed my doors open and put everything in my hands down on my desk as I looked at some photos of my nephew, and I as my brother left often after his wife's death eight years ago. I looked up at the clock to see that I had to start heading to the meeting room for one of our weekly meetings, about how we will impact Blue Valley. These are the meetings that make me question why I didn't continue to work as a doctor, and use my business degree to do this.
After arriving I could see the map of Blue Valley laid out as I saw Steve already there before more of the staff entered the room. I watched as a new blonde woman who had a bright smile, and a nice suit entered the meeting room, as she was Barbara Whitmore; the new employee at The American Dream. She just arrived in Blue Valley a few days ago, and has a family I believe.
"As one of the CFO's at The American Dream, my focus is, of course, to balance profitability with our extensive philanthropic appetite. As such the suggestion box for the next for our next community fundraiser is open. So speak." Steve said as I was standing her questioning why I even decided to come back to work when I could just move and use my knowledge in another town...but oh wait, nope that isn't how it works. This town...is just this town.
"Ideas folks." He said as even I shook my head looking at some of the others in the office who just wanted this meeting to be over. But you know being one of the CFO's isn't easy when your brothers leaves you in charge with Steve. "Anyone?" He continued as I watched Barbara start to think about something as I could see her face light up. But you know Steve is going to crush her idea because well, that's him for you.
She raised her hand as he did call on her for her idea, "Yes." He asked her as everyone including myself was looking at her. But all of us knew, even me, one of the CFO's, the second one due to me being a doctor for fourteen years then for the past eight sitting in this office doing nothing more than running the business when my brother isn't here to be the boss of the business.
"Well Mr.Sharpe, there are so many new restaurants in Blue Valley. I mean, far more than when I was a kid, and back in Valley Village, California there was a taste of the town once a year. It was a way for the restaurants to introduce themselves to the commu..." She said until he interrupted her which was expected by everyone again including me. "No." He said as she looked at him confused and questioning it.
"But it really helps." She tried to put in, "Everyone in Blue Valley knows the restaurants already." He said as I nodded knowing his statement was true. "Bad Idea." He continued as I just looked at the map once again of the town. The secrets of the town and knowing more than most people is a bonus and a downside when hearing crushed dreams.
"Any Others?" He asked as I was just keeping to myself knowing when Barbara raised her hand again I just rolled my eyes knowing that this isn't going to end well...at all and if she could hear my thoughts she would seriously understand why nobody asks questions, including myself since I can put somethings into place.
I just didn't listen to the next part, deciding not to stay in the conversation, as after he rejected another idea of Barbara's he asked for any other ideas. "Well nobody else. We'll come up with the ideas." He said as part of me wished I could be in charge of the whole place so then at least we could get something done with the employees more than me doing half the work of Blue Valley, and Steve over here doing the other half and making everyone's life terrible.
Walking back to my office I see Mr.Chapel stop and tell Barbara something as I manage to get into the hallway not too long after. And that is when my day starts once again and I go back into my usual work that I have to finish.
― WATCHING THE DOOR OPEN AFTER HELPING SOMEONE LIFT ONE OF THE WEIGHTS OVER THERE SHOULDER AND TAKING IT FROM THEM. Helena Bertnelli, 45, continued to walk around helping some of the people working out here as she now helps them get trained, and fit. Along with helping them stay on their diets by making them keep track, she isn't as bad as Lawrence the Crusher Crock, her Boss, as she owns half the building.
"Ripped." I said hearing the word from Crusher as everyone else repeated the word. Glancing back seeing a familiar face trying to picture the person with the face. I turn over continuing to help a familiar person who works out here everyday stay on her diet even though she started about two months ago, and she reminded me of an old partner back in the day.
"You can do anything you put your mind to as long as you listen to people motivating you. Starting with yourself Linda." I told her as she was lifting up weight behind her. "You just have to say to yourself. I'm trying to get my goal, I will do anything I put my mind to. Starting small and going bigger." I continued to tell her seeing she was struggling but also nodding as I was ready to help her if needed.
I caught the weight that slipped in her hand before it could hit her shoulders as she took a breath, as I lifted the 100 pound weight now using two of my hands to put it back on it's proper position. "You alright?" I asked her as she nodded. "Thank you, Slayer." She said as I remembered my nickname that the all mighty Crusher gave me when we first started since I slayed my competition when he found me once in MMA fighting and won the championship a few years back.
Let's just say at that time I just enjoyed beating up people a bit, after all the anger kicked in, and I was left to take care of Stephaine. It was different from back in the day when I was an ex-criminal from robbing banks turned hero. But after everything many years ago, and losing contact with some of the remaining heroes MMA fighting gave me something to do, until I joined Lawrence in his business owning half the shares and helping train people and keeping them on diets. I'm no longer a superhero those days are over, but now I'm just a hero in helping people achieve their goals.
That man reminded me of those days, when I would suit up as the Huntress, and help fighting villains in the streets of Star and Gotham City. Running around with a mask and cape on with the help of some of my greatest friends and teammates back in the day. As Black Canary joined an undercover team for the Justice Society of America, I decided to go with her once to meet the Golden Age heroes like Starman, Wildcat, Hourman, and Dr.Mid-Nite and a few others.
When I got back to the back for a quick break I checked my phone to see a reminder, for Parent Night, uck! I hate these school events sometimes, unless it's for sports or murder mystery games. But, parent night is just two long hours of me talking to other parents, and listening to all the teachers talk a bit about their classes, students, and just daily life. Sometimes I would rather have all the action back in my life then sit at a boring Parent Night.
― LOOKING BEHIND HERSELF, 15, SKYLAR HARRIS SAW THE REFLECTION OF THE BLONDE HAIR NEW GIRL OF THE SCHOOL. She scoffed even looking at her because all she wanted was to be alone and just wait until school was over to sit and hide in the shadows for the time being. But deep down there was the shy, kind, and hopeful little girl that still believes there is hope in the tunnel of darkness she calls her life.
Hearing the air that was all around the forest I gathered my peace of mind until I heard a noise behind me, "Whoever decided to follow me today I want nothing to do with you." I said as the footsteps continued to approach and I sighed standing up then turning around to see one of the new girls at our school, that my older brother described her step-sister after yesterday's lunch.
"I thought your brother seemed to be angry, you just seem lonely." She said as I rolled my eyes and scoffed at her, "And like I care that I'm alone. I have grown up with being alone, and staying as a nobody. So why should I care that you followed me out here?" I asked her, seeing as she glared at me as I continued to stare at her also. "You don't have to care, I just thought it would be nice to learn more about you since some of the people at this highschool are either bitches, or just angry and popular." She told me as I nodded in agreement.
"Nobody cares to ever know me, everyone just pushes me aside from their lives except for my brother." I told her as she tried to come up to me and touch my shoulder as I backed away. "I have had that before, whatever you think is bad. I have had it worse at times." She explained as I shook my head, "How could you. You have had friends, unlike me I have had a few friends, here or there. And then soon enough they move on or they just leave." I explained turning my back on her grabbing my bag.
"Haven't you ever thought for once that those people are just stupid for using you instead of blaming yourself." She yelled at me as I was about to walk away. "Never after so many of them left, so why do you give a crap when you don't even know me?" I asked her as I knew I would either get angry or cry at any moment as I watched her green eyes stare at me like she understood more pain than I even knew.
"Because someone once gave a crap about me a long time ago. Because you think since I don't know you, which I don't. And you think that I don't know the feeling, but for all my life I have known how it feels for people to use you, or for people to act kind and then take it away with anger." She yelled as I saw a few tears fall down her eyes. "Fine, but don't make me regret even trying." I told her as she nodded and deep down somewhere inside of me knew it was good to have someone to be there for me.
"Kyra." She said as I looked at her questioning the name, "Kyra Dugan is my name." She told me as I nodded, "Skylar Harris at your service." I told her, nodding to her as I started to walk back on the path to school. "I thought you hated school?" She asked me as I grinned a bit. "Hate is a strong word. I act like I hate it like my brother. But I enjoy school to an extent other than the people." I told her as she glanced at me as I started to see the school in my sight of vision as I helped us both sneak back in before even my brother couldn't see us, and like he would care.
― SITTING DOWN ON THE BLEACHERS, LISTENING TO PRINCIPAL BOWEN TALK ABOUT PARENT NIGHT. "So fun!" I thought to myself since we arrived here, and I had to skip out of going out with Stephaine today, but hey at least she is here. Not in the same row and seating area we are at, but she is here with her aunt Helena, as she is sitting next to Cameron and his aunt Morgan. Looking back at the middle of the room I started glancing at the staff of the school seeing that everyone was either tired, or just stone faced.
Clapping when needed I quickly started to see my father looking around for something...or someone in the crowd that must be also looking for him. And you know watching him looking in the crowd is more interesting and entertaining than this whole thing. I watched as my father was called as one of the doctors of the Blue Valley medical center. As he continued to watch other people, looking for someone as the Crock's stood up and cheered for the Prairie Dogs, since their daughter Artemis is a football player. We all continued to clap.
Later on after the speeches ended we all got up and groups split into more groups to side conversations with teachers and other parents. I walked behind my brother, and father was still wondering why it was a big deal being here tonight. "We never come to these things." My brother said as I nodded knowing it was the truth. "Why are we here?" He asked as I knew my father wasn't going to give us the answer as he pushed us both away then and instead of going to get punch I just went next to Cameron and Stephaine as we hanged out by the bleachers near the exit as Helena was talking with Crusher, and Artemis and everyone.
"I still question why I came to this?" I said as Stephaine looked at me and laughed, "You didn't have a choice." She said as she reminded me my father made me come unwillingly. I would have been at home, or even out in the forest for a bit. Maybe even invite Stephaine, but I did watch as the Crusher walked and grabbed the new girl's father's cookie and drink. "Must be on a fitness plan." I thought knowing Helena is less rude about it but she is more supporting and more active with her memberships on her side than Crusher. But then she can slay people if she wants to.
As we all talked for a few minutes I watched as my father looked around, along with Courtney Whitmore for someone, maybe each other; interesting. "I say we ditch." I suggested as Cameron and Stephaine glared at me, "Fine." I sighed as they laughed. They always team up on me when I try to do something vigilant. I then was in a group with my father, the crocks, and Stephaine as Cameron and his aunt left already; lucky. But then he excused himself from the conversation.
A few minutes later I watched as my father came back more pleased at whatever he had done. Whatever he searched for was found and dealt with. I am concerned for my father in ways and what he does, but at the end of the day he just is not emotional including when it's with happiness. He usually just keeps a stone face in front of everyone; mostly my brother and I since our mother died all those years ago. I never did understand why my father wouldn't let us talk about her. Maybe he regrets something, maybe he mourns his loss, but that shouldn't be my focus right now.
We left about twenty-three minutes later she was able to leave this event, leaving Stephaine behind with Helena, and the Crocks since she knew Artemis as the two were friends since they both have their own standards of competition. Once I entered the car it was a silent ride home even when Henry sat in the front no of us spoke; like every other time. Because nothing could be said without a lecture, our thoughts would be talked about. Like my father knew what we were saying.
Going to my room once getting in the house I went to my closet to quickly change from my itchy green floral dress, and white sweater due to it being cold outside. I changed into an old pair of black leggings, and one of my logo t-shirts that I didn't wear during school as I put my glasses on when I started to continue reading the Hunger Games until I heard my father's footsteps leave the upstairs. Which is strange when it's, I look up and see, 11:45. What is he doing at a quarter till midnight?
― MEANWHILE KYRA WAS ALONE AT THIS STUPID PARENTS NIGHT. Part of her liked it in ways, but in the end it really didn't bring her the feeling of happiness or joy. Or even interest in general like she would more for a chess tournament which at least goes faster than this event. When Courtney and her father told her that Brainwave would possibly be at the parent night that sparked her interest until she couldn't even see him. Because there is still that part of her angry, and wanting to get revenge deep down in her core for what happened to her parents because of Brainwave.
Once Courtney bumped back into Kyra she could see her step-sisters shock as they both stared at another, "Are you alright." Kyra said, trying to comfort Courtney which was not working as much as it could. "I encountered Brainwave." She told Kyra as Krya's eyes lit up red like fire from Courtney's view. "What did he do?" She asked Courtney as she grabbed her arms. "He threatened my mom." She told Kyra, and that is what made Kyra more pissed at Brainwave, and the stupidity of Courtney trying to go after Brainwave alone.
Reaching Pat, both of the girls were on high alert. Since Kyra had no idea if Brainwave would be after them both after threatening Courtney like how he did. After she told Pat, he went over to Barbara and they were able to leave early. Even if Barbara was in the middle of a conversation with the Zarick's, and a few other parents to students who attend Blue Valley Highschool.
Because of Brainwave's threat to Courtney, when they arrived home they both went to their rooms. But once it was around eleven-thirty-one, Kyra could hear footsteps heading down the stairs as she knew it was Courtney trying to leave to go fight Brainwave. Once Kyra went down and headed towards the basement door she could see her father talking to Courtney, and how he will solve this problem. When her, and Courtney should stay here.
She listened into the conversation not wanting to interrupt, learning from her past once what happened when she was caught. Or interrupted a King's conversation with her father, and Kyra had to then live in a prison cell, with scraps of the king's food, and very little wine and water a day. Enough to survive, but still make her starve. So she tends to sneak around and listen into conversations about anything in the world, or with Courtney and her father since the two argue like father and daughter.
That was until Kyra heard her father talking about leaving Blue Valley, if he doesn't return from defeating Brainwave in the morning. Kyra did come out of hiding as she hugged Pat before he left knowing that she would rebel against his rules for this moment. Because she knew Courtney was going to go out of her ways anyway to go after Brainwave. It was only a matter of time after Kyra headed upstairs and looked at her armor.
Kyra always questioned when looking at it, if she could make her parents proud of her, at any moment if they were there with her. If they were proud of her for trying to have a normal life without them. Not dying and actually getting to live her own life away from all the reincarnated versions of herself since she was born ages ago. The flashbacks that haunt her day-dreams, and dreams at any time when she closes her eyes for too long.
Snapping out of her daze she sees light flowing in from the hallway, as Courtney is standing at the door frame of her room peeking inside, as Kyra got the clue as she started suiting up as Courtney headed back and she climbed down her window after turning off her lights in her room and climbing down the making a running jump out her window as she almost smacked into multiple objects and mainly sharp ones as her club was attached to her belt.
Taking one look Kyra saw how badass Courtney looked in her suit as they were both in the sky heading to Blue Valley Highschool's parking lot. "So what should we call you." She asked as Courtney smiled at her, "Stargirl." Courtney said, making Kyra smile at the thought. "Very clever." She told her as Courtney shook her head, "Like it's any less clever than Hawkgirl." Courtney said as Kyra gasped.
"Just so you know, Courtney. I am older than you for one after living multiple lives. And two Hawkgirl was the partner to Hawkman who both are legendary heroes that were given enhanced armor, and wings from the gods." Krya rambled on as Courtney shook her head once again at her step-sister's comment, and it was kinda funny seeing her in a two piece outfit and a hawk mask. But now all Kyra needs when being Hawkgirl... is her own Hawkman, or just a hawk that is a male.
Upon the arrival of Stargirl and Hawkgirl, the cosmic staff blasted Brainwave back from hurting Pat any longer. And then of course the staff went back to Stargirl as her and Hawkgirl did a pose. "I'm Stargirl." She announced to Brainwave knowing he knew who she was. But she didn't care. Courtney Whitmore needed to protect her family, and Pat. While a part of Hawkgirl wanted revenge and payback to Brainwave after what he had done to her parents. And how she heard he killed both of them at different times, her mother being a few months after her father. Due to her mother having another undercover mission that night.
"And this is my teammate and partner Hawkgirl." Stargirl announced pointing at Hawkgirl who was beside her on her right. "And that's my Sidekick." She continued pointing over to Pat's robot that is yet to have any name other than being marked 'AUTO PARTS'.
Brainwave started moving concrete pillars at the two heroes as Stargirl used her gymnastics and the staff guide to dodge it, as Hawkgirl meanwhile hit them with her club and then started to use her wings and flew up higher than they were. As then Stargirl went up and kicked Brainwave past a car, as he was getting more angry, due to it being more of a stress fighting two wanna be heroes dressed in costumes, and have hero names. But are still far younger than himself.
Stargirl then tried to hit Brainwave but missed and hit the Blue Valley Highschool sign with a cosmic beam that melted it. And that's when Brainwave then used his abilities to push her back right into Hawkgirl as she then just landed, sending them close to falling on the pavement until Hawkgirl used her wings to push her up. And the Cosmic Staff prevented Stargirl from falling. Before the two could take a breath, Brainwave started to use his telekinesis to pick up more objects from the pavement like parking signs and anything that could damage the two teenage female heroes.
The both dodged them, Stargirl used her staff, Hawkgirl used her club until Stargirl was flung into Hawkgirl and a metal part hit Stargirl as Hawkgirl was sent flying about three feet left away from Stargirl as Brainwave approached them both and he then put a metal part over Hawkgirl, as she wasn't moving to much anymore. The staff being a few meters away from Stargirl, as Hawkgirl's club was underneath where her legs are and she can't use her arms to grab it; too short.
With Brainwave still approaching it worried both girls, "You both worried me at first, New Starman and Hawkgirl. Big trouble. A real game-changer. Imagine my relief. No Starman or Hawkgirl. Just a silly Stargirl, and a silly new Hawkgirl. You'll die for attacking my son." He said as Hawkgirl looked at Brainwave as she didn't attack his son, hell she didn't even know his son. Unlike Stargirl who blew up a car, maybe Brainwave's son's car. But he wasn't going to let the two silly girls go.
"But first, you'll feel such pain." Brainwave said as Hawkgirl started yelling knowing she would have it as soon as Stargirl dies. But she couldn't bear to watch Stargirl get hurt, her own step-sister. She started hearing Courtney scream in pain as her ears were bleeding as she knew her father was trying to get the robot to work. When the headlights came on she was able to take the metal off of herself getting up and grabbing her club as her body ached from being tossed around and hitting the concrete hard.
Before Hawkgirl or Pat could do anything, Stargirl hit Brainwave in the head with the staff as his eyes started lighting up, along with his mouth as he was gasping for air and something was happening to the area as he fell over out of conscience as Courtney was able to lift the metal off. Pat was Ok, but Brainwave wasn't as they had to help him.
An hour later Maya woke up to her brother yelling for her as she entered the hallway to see him with a frown and in tears and that is when she learned her father, a guy not easy at showing love, but still her father was in the hospital. She didn't know what or how, but her and her brother agreed on going as she quickly headed to get changed into one of her nicer black leggings and red sweaters along with her classic red leather jacket and black heeled sneakers instead of boots.
Driving down there wasn't easy when Maya couldn't keep her mind 100% straight due to thinking about what had happened to her father. Henry could see his sister's pain, because he felt it too. The two of them knew what the other one felt since they used to be so close until three months ago when he started to date Cindy. It didn't kill their relationship, but it did damage their relationship as twins. And once they arrived and got out of her car Henry did grab his younger sister's hand like they used to when they were kids.
Walking through the doors of the hospital was hard since they weren't just visiting their dad for work, they were visiting him to see what the news was on his condition. "We found him outside." Dr.Chapel spoke as she was leading them to their father's room catching them up. "From what we can gather, your father suffered a seizure of some sort." She continued to explain to the two children of his.
"We're doing everything we can but the best person to help him......would've been him." She continued as they finally saw their father through the blinds of their father's hospital room's window. As he was laying there attached to machines that were keeping him stable; alive. Maya could see how Henry was trying to stay strong for the both of them as tears flowed out of her eyes, and she leaned against him trying to sooth him since they knew more about each other than themselves.
Back at the Pit shop...Kyra, Courtney, and Pat were all sitting around as Kyra had changed her clothes so she wouldn't have to wear the armor for a longer period of time. And currently Courtney and Kyra were both staring at different sides of the room, thinking two different things at the moment. Kyra's was all about revenge, and how it felt being so close, and some parts of it felt wrong to her.
"What if he dies?" Courtney mentions as it is something to think about for everyone, but deep down it wasn't Courtney's fault. "Hey. It's not your fault. Or Kyra's." Pat said trying to comfort both girls and still try to get a grip on the situation that happened tonight.
"His mind short-circuited." Pat continued while handing the two both mugs full of water. Courtney then grabbed the staff as she watched it light up as she questioned the Cosmic Staff to Hawkgirl, and Pat as she started not listening as often into the conversation since she doesn't have much knowledge on the Cosmic Staff.
"I never thought there would be another Starman." Pat said as Courtney corrected him, "Stargirl." She said, stating to him who she was. "Us three took down Brainwave." Courtney continued as Kyra looked at her knowing deep down Courtney wanted to do more about it, to find them all and get Justice for the JSA. "We'll find the other that killed my dad, and Kyra's parents and the others too and we'll get justice for them too." Courtney explained as Kyra knew Pat wouldn't want them to do it deep down, including Kyra since he promised her mother to protect her.
"I just. I just can't do this Courtney." Pat said as the two girls both looked at him scoffing knowing that Pat could do it even if he doesn't have any special powers of any kind. And in a moment of his speaking he put up the theory that Courtney could be Sylvester's daughter which made Kyra happy that he looks into it more. And he continued to talk about how the two girls were the heroes, and the basic talk about him being a sidekick.
And minutes later Courtney figures out what to call Pat; S.T.R.I.P.E. Which means Subatomic, Tactical, Robot, Internet, Pat Enhancer. An acronym based off a new title for Pat as her sidekick, but Krya did think it was better than Stripsey.
In a dark hallway to a well lit room sits Morgan Mahkent next to her co-executive owner of her brother's business, and good friend, Steve Sharpe. The two of them have been told to expect her brother's return back into Blue Valley, after him being so close to finishing his mission. While the two of them were just sitting on their well respected chairs of the ISA members in the meeting room.
As right on left side of the room was a tv attached to the wall, while on the left side was a mural of the ISA members, Icicle front in center, Killer Frost was on his right side, Brainwave behind behind her, Gambler being in front of Brainwave but next to him, and the Fiddler was next to him. And on Icicles left side was Sportsmaster, then Tigress, and then Wizard. And then behind the three of them was Shade, and then last but not least at the very back was Soloman Grundy.
When hearing footsteps down the hallway Morgan glances up from her paperwork, she continues to hear them heading down the large and multiple tunnels leading up to the meeting room. Then hearing them on the stairs and heading down another hallway and then Soloman banging on his cage. That's the moment when she knows it's her brother. And her thoughts are correct when she sees him heading down the last stairs coming into the meeting room.
"Jordan." Steve says as Morgan closes her file looking him in the eye, as we both stand up. "Welcome back." He continued, "Here, let me show you." Steve said as Morgan followed him to the middle of the room around the left side of the room where they were staring at the tv screen of a girl with the cosmic staff on a rooftop. "It took out Brainwave." Steve said, a bit concerned, "What do we do?" He asks as Morgan still studies the photo.
"We don't worry. Steven. I killed one Starman. I can kill another." Jordan said stepping forward as his breath was almost frozen as the tv screen started freezing up with ice.
