“You know nothing about the girl behind the cloak.”

―  SITTING IN THE BLEACHERS I WAS OVER WATCHING THE FOOTBALL GAME THAT ARTEMIS INVITED ME TO. One of the two practices before the homecoming game, as she was the only girl on the football team as she was running fast down the field to the end until she got tackled making everyone gasp. Which might I say was a late hit, due to Travis tackling her after she got over the last line.

There was nothing good that was going to happen due to the coach blowing the whistle, as he benched her as I watched her parents sit down, knowing their was still the rest of game she will sit there I just watched the team knowing I could never be as bold as Artemis including when it comes to people judging my skills, and might I say I have held a few teams I have been on together.

After the game, I knew the Crock’s would be talking to the arrogant couch as I spotted Artemis in the girls locker room as she had her helmet in her hands before putting it back in her locker. She looked like she wanted to beat up Travis for that last minute tackle when she was already done with running it across the other side.

“I can’t believe he did that.” She yelled as she turned back seeing me standing there, “It’s not fair.” She continued to complain. “I’m the best player on the team, but nobody on the team believes I can do it because I’m a girl.” She said sitting down on the bench contoh playing with herself more until I went to sit next to her.

“Someday they will regret saying what they do. And I agree it’s pretty stupid that everyone seems against you Artemis.” I told her as she looked at me, “Ugh! It’s just homecoming is around the corner and I need to play. Someday I wish you joined the team Lance.” She told me as I laughed for a moment.

“Me playing football wouldn’t go well. I have no skills or full knowledge of football. And besides I feel like I would be taken out first. It was always more your thing Crock, and you're great at playing football as the quarterback. And since Henry is gone you have more of a change to get seen for your skill.” I continued as she smiled and she grabbed a few things before we headed out. Knowing that her parents would be waiting while we walked out. And since Helena is at the gym I know Crusher would want me to run there today.

―  HEADING BACK IN THE WINDOW BEHIND COURTNEY WE SNUCK IN THE HOUSE. It was around two in the morning I believe, but then I could be wrong. As Pat turned on the light, spooking me as I almost dropped my mace on the floor of her room as the staff went out of Courtney’s hand. As she was wondering what Pat was doing in here, as I knew what this was. As I looked over at the stuff.

The suits of Hourman, and Dr.Midnite were out, as the lantern was gone, but the helmet was there. As the two were arguing again since I knew Pat and even I knew the helmet was dangerous along with everything else. As they were discussing the new JSA.

“And obviously you’ve started without me.” Pat told her as my father looked at me as I knew this wasn’t going to end well as I shouldn’t have done it, but the ISA is here and we need to stop them. As there was no way we could win, as he would want us to gather the stuff….which technically I can’t from Skylar as the ring chose her.

“I see Hourman’s costume; but no hourglass, you gave it to Rick Harris didn’t you?” Pat asked as I knew my pupil must have been enlarged, and my heart was pumping faster. “How did you know that?” Courtney asked as my father explained the truck in his garage. “So you know Rick Harris, and his sister are really Rick and Skylar Tyler.” Courtney said as I knew Pat had his own suspicions from some of our late night conversations.

He explained about not knowing that Rex had a son and daughter, but then again neither did I, since most of the league was undercover except Hourman, Starman, Wildcat, and Mid-Nite who I met once or twice when I went along with my father once. As I knew Courtney was explaining to him about how they were murdered rather than killed in an accident but by Soloman Grundy. As he looked at both of us, as Courtney explained Dr.Mid-Nite explained, and how Beth was wearing them.

“Wait who’s Beth?” He asked us, “The new Dr.Mid-Nite.” Courtney told him, “Who else did you recruit Courtney….Kyra.” My father asked as he sat back down on the couch near the lamp as we looked at him. “Yolanda Montez…” She started out saying as he sighed, “And Yolanda is now?” He asked as I looked at him. “Wildcat.” Courtney continued, “And then we have Skylar,” I told him as he looked up at me shaking his head, “We didn’t mean to recruit her; the ring chose her Pat.” I told him as he looked at us.

“You put these kids in real danger, you need to get everything you took back.” Pat explained to us as my father looked over at me disappointed. “I’m not taking the lantern ring and lantern from Skylar, because whatever makes her worthy of it, it is something I have never seen...heck, lantern’s are chosen not just randomised.” I told him nodding at Courtney before heading to my room, sneaking down the hall and closing my door silently as I tried to keep quiet.

In the morning I watched Mike make a Candy World as I grabbed a gumdrop before heading to grab something to eat for breakfast as he glared at me, even from me turning away. As I laughed about the science fair project he made as I grabbed something before grabbing my bag to head to catch up to Skylar knowing that my father would want to talk to her too.

When I got to school, Skylar and I sat in one of the empty and storage rooms that nobody enters as I glanced at her, “Oh this reminds me....Diner 10pm tomorrow after curfew. I found my German Book stash again.” She told me as I looked at her shaking my head laughing slightly.

“How do you lose a stash?” I asked her as she glanced at me, “I put it somewhere where nobody but me could find it. But recently I have opened two floorboards in my small room to hide the lantern from my you know “father”, so I haven’t had time to think about German and teach you any.” She told me as I shook my head, “Let me guess you hid it in the corn maze of a field?” I asked her as she nodded. “Yeah.” She told me as I laughed.

―  BUMPING INTO MY BROTHER BEFORE LUNCH HE LOOKED AT ME AS WE HEADED OUTSIDE AS I KNEW KYRA WOULD ASK ME ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED LATER. Once we got into town, he finally handed me a journal that had the words engraved in red in the leather coated book. The word at the top and all in caps was ‘REX’ , our father's name. As I looked at him.

“Rick where did you get this….” I asked him as he looked me in the eyes, “Pat Dugan has had this all this time. He wanted it back this morning, along with the hourglass and the lantern.” He told me as I glared at him. “Of course Pat did because he wasn't the sidekick….” I was about to ask as he looked at me.

“Wait, this is chemistry.” I told him looking through some of the pages, “But not even I have seen something so….so complex.” I told him as he looked over at me as I handed it back to my brother as he looked at me. “Don’t even start Rick about how I shouldn’t be involved with any of this since I’m your year younger sister, who you want to protect.”

“Skylar...that isn’t.” He wanted to start to argue more as I hugged him as he looked at me for a moment hugging me as we stood on the sidewalk where many people weren’t passing yet.

At the end of the day, I was approaching my locker to grab the books I needed to work in for the evening in my bag. Along with the big german book as all of us were to meet up after school or I was supposed to meet up with Kyra and Courtney soon by the bleachers as I shut my locker….then locking it before heading down the hallways as I was looking away for one minute until I run into someone.

Hitting into them making their stuff fly wasn't flattering, as I met eyes with the person as I looked at him for a moment. “I am sorry.” I told him helping him as I handed him his sketchbook which reminded me of the person who somehow Kyra told me Courtney met once in math, drew on Yolanda’s locker with his floral designs as I continued to look at him for another moment.

“It’s alright.” He said as I nodded before turning away before I could get more into a conversation with him heading through a small crowd to see the others behind the bleachers as I headed towards them looking at Rick and then back at the others as they must have just argued about Pat probably.

Once we figured out more about this Gambler, and how he wanted to steal codes to a satellite, we knew it wouldn’t be that bad of a mission. As part of my body was warning me against it...but then there was this other part having a feeling I haven’t felt in awhile….happiness.

Suiting up later on I looked at my brother seeing him in a golden yellow cape that had red stripes near the bottom, and by the top of the dark black boots. As the blackish blue continued to a full body suit as it covered his face as I looked at him for a moment it looked like he was wearing eye makeup. As we were about to head out for our mission.

― TODAY EIGHT YEARS AGO….WAS THE DAY THAT MY FAMILY WILL NEVER FORGET. As I woke up from another flash of thoughts as I heard a door open down the hall as I walked out as I saw Cameron out talking to his father as Jordan told him to go back to sleep as he walked down the hall as I looked at Cameron. As he nodded at me heading back in his room to go back to sleep for a few more hours as I headed downstairs to glance outside.

Eight long years have gone by...and hell I can’t even figure out that much more about myself. Other than the small flashes of the people that I don’t even know or remember from whenever I met them or when I didn’t. I have no idea.

Later that morning I could see Jordan enter the door as I was drinking more herbal tea as he entered the kitchen looking at me. Handing him a mug of tea I looked over at him. “Let me guess, Paula and Larry killed another coach and you had to go confront them.” I told him as he glared at me as he sat across from me. “They are setting up the next phase in the project.” He told me as I continued to sip my second glass of herbal tea.

“Let’s just hope whoever these kids are don’t screw it up.” I told him as he still had a slight glare towards me, “They are kids and last I check I’m not worried about them.” He told me, “I know what day it is Jordan and I’m sorry about your wife. But last I check if something goes wrong it all ends in blood.” I told him to leave the room heading back up to mine as I closed the door silently behind me.

In the evening we went to the diner to remember the loss of Christine as Jordan and Cameron both discussed more about his mother and as the two were still mourning greatly over her loss. As the waitress approached us again. Holding a piece of cake she lit the candle and put it on the cake asking which one of us birthday it was.

She walked away apologizing, as Cameron was told to blow out the candle from his father as I looked over at my nephew as my eye caught the coldness more than usual coming out of his breath, but then again I have had weirder things recently in my dreams.

―  THE NIGHT WAS DARK ON THE STREET AS I SAW THE BUILDING AS A MAN IN A SKI MASK WHO REMINDED ME OF JASON DOORLES WAS BEATING UP HOURMAN. As the light shone behind me as you, as I gripped on my bow more as I looked over shooting an arrow to distract the man as I saw Stargirl go under the car.

“Hey Jason, I bet you're old enough that if I hit you hard enough you will fall over.” I yelled as my voice modulator was on as he looked over at me after taking down Stargirl. As I saw a woman who looked like a cheetah but less furry and less growling. As I ran after the two as they tried to both take me down as I knew I was being watched as I used my bow to block their hits and when trying I was using my skills in cheerleading to jump back and I blocked myself from getting bruised.

“Two against one kid.” The man continued as they posed and I shook my head. “I have dealt with worse villains than you.” I told them hit against them as they watched me, as I continued to hold them off as part of me questioned where the hell this hero group was, as I thought there were eight of them, and their only seems to be Hawkgirl, Hourman, and Stargirl.

Blocking a few more hits I watched as this crossbowed woman shot at something almost hitting the green lantern until I shot an arrow saving her from blowing up this woman’s arrow. But before I knew it I blocked another hit from the ski mask, Jason. But before I could even comprehend I didn’t notice for a split second until I was sliced with an arrow through my right side as I yelled falling back before Stargirl got back up using her staff to defend her as I grabbed my side after putting my bow on my lap looking at them groaning.

At the end of the fight I saw this big robot which somehow had a man inside it as the woman in green gave me her hand. Helping me as I headed back with them for some reason knowing that I might be able to put some bandages on them before my brother or even Stephaine could see as it dug in a bit deep.

Inside the Pit shop I was glanced at by the whole team as they argued as the man came out as I have seen him before. Pat Dugan, he brought me a med kit as he was staring at me, “Who are you?” He asked me as I took off my hood as I quickly took off a part of my top to my under top as I continued to look at them as he helped me for a moment.

“Well I was trained by Green Arrow’s sidekick...Speedy, they used to call me Scarlet Arsenal.” I told him wincing slightly as it stung as the others looked at me. “Wait were you there the day Joey Zarick died, The one…” Kyra started as I looked at her. “Yeah that was me.” I told her as they looked at me as I used my right hand after Pat finished and took off my mask as some of them looked at me.

“Maya King?” Yolanda asked as I nodded, “Hi Yolanda,” I said putting back on my shirt and jacket buttoning it up. “I know who you guys are, the Justice Society or at least the new one’s. I have been watching for awhile.” I told them as they looked at me. “I was making sure nothing went wrong. None of you have been properly trained, I barely had been when I started.” I told them as they looked at me.

“Join us in fighting the Injustice Society.” Courtney said as I looked at her, “Help us live on the legacy.” She continued as I knew Yolanda was looking at me. “Alright I will, as long as you don’t make me do something very..very stupid.” I told them as Courtney smiled, “Now I better head home before Henry questions me too much. See you all later.” I told them to walk out of the pit shop.

Heading down the road I smiled knowing that my story was far from over, which was weird after hanging up the hood in Star City. And coming home to join this JSA, to fight whoever this “ISA” is.
