STARGIRL FANFIC WRITERS QUESTIONNAIRE

(A/N: Hey there Stargirl Fanfic writers if you enjoy writing your Stargirl book, and you have one or multiple here's the place to answer some questions for the readers about your book. It’s just for fun and to participate so you could connect more to the community. Enjoy! Xoxo - Rosemusic18)

1. What is your book title?

I have three Stargirl books, the first one being A New Society, Justice, and Burgeon. A New Society was my first book. But the book the questionnaire is on is Justice.

2. Does this book include any ships the reader should know about?

Justice includes the ships of Stephaine Lance + Henry King, Rick Tyler + Maya King, Yolanda Montez + Kyra Dugan, and Skylar Tyler + Cameron Mahkent without spoiling anything for the sequel. And A New Society has the ship for the first book of Courtney Whitmore + McKenna Garrick.

3. And if you did ship characters, why? Any reasoning behind the ship, like did you like the character? Or did you just think that person fit with your OC?

Why I chose in Justice to ship the four girls is yes I do have crushes on like Rick Tyler, Henry King Jr., and Cameron Mahkent. Mainly Rick. But I also thought I wanted to clash personalities and stories together and show how the world can work and how personalities that are awkward can fit like two puzzle pieces. And in A New Society I picked the ship between McKenna Garrick and Courtney Whitmore because I could see the two being together, and not only that I love how McKenna is so afraid of showing her sexuality and it can be hard in the real world to show it, and I could see Courtney being the supportive partner in the relationship as the two are similar but also have their differences.

4. (If you have more than one character) If you could choose one character from your Stargirl book to go on vacation with, who would it be? And Where? And Why? Explain please.

McKenna Garrick, man I would have chosen somebody from the other books but McKenna will always have a place in my heart. Because out of all my characters she would be the funniest and most understanding person about being different and she would be supporting. Where we would go is maybe Central City, Washington DC, or the Bahamas or maybe even all three due to her being able to run as fast as she does.

5. What originally inspired you to write this book? Was it someone? Was it the show?

In a New Society I was going through a hard time in May with breaking up with a friend, and I was trying to decide if I wanted to stay in a toxic relationship, but the show was a part that inspired me. But another part that inspired me to write this book was mostly inspired by the friend I know in real life who has supported me through everything my ex-friend put me through and it kinda made me like Yolanda Montez to McKenna Garrick. And some qualities of McKenna are from her personality in ways and is inspired by her, and someday I will tell her if she doesn’t read this.

But for Justice I was inspired by some of the other writers of Stargirl books who made me think about Maya King and all of them. Along with A New Society inspired me, because of how McKenna Garrick is and how she still has fears I wanted to change it into this women who everyone views different like in highschool and how four different supporting in mains could maybe never connect in books until later on and how you can have a different life and story than what people judge you for. But this book was mainly inspired by the show with Henry and all figuring out his powers and dying, I wanted to make something new for that and this book was the key.

6. Who is the main character of your Stargirl book?

For Justice the main character is Maya King, but our supporting characters are like Stephaine Lance, Skylar Harris/Tyler, and Kyra Dugan/Hall. And in A New Society the main character for all the books will be McKenna Garrick daughter of Jay Garrick the Flash of the Golden Age.

7. Explain your Stargirl character in 5 words or less. (This can be in characteristics or just general words and let the readers guess why and comment why they think you did those five words.)

Maya: Misunderstood, Judged, Kind, Distressed, Protective
McKenna: Honest, Loving, Caring, Helpful, Masked

8. Did you ever draft scenes that you never put in the book? Like any written endings before your current ending, or did you make a kissing scene, etc.?

I have written for A New Society scenes that weren’t released until now like the old ending which was Alternate and the original plans for some other scenes in the sequel. And for Justice there are many planned scenes that are never to be released unless the readers want to read some scenes written before the end of the show.

9. What was your inspiration for making your main character of the book? Was it someone in your life? Was it just when you were watching the show? Explain please.

Once again A New Society’s McKenna Garrick was inspired by one of my friends who helped me and still does with my problems. And it helped me see that I could have a light and that you shouldn’t be the only one supporting your friends. So it related me to Yolanda and McKenna’s relationship where McKenna tells Yolanda problems and the same goes for Yolanda. This makes them more like sisters than friends but for my friend I wanted to dedicate this story to.

Justice’s Maya King, was inspired by some of my own past life like how it feels when people want to one up you. How it feels when your sibling is being picked on by a bully, how it feels to be used and treated in such a way. Instead of losing a sibling I have been through traumatic experiences like Maya and how she lost a friend the first Green Arrow she met in Star City and that scene puts me back to a shooting that happened and I was involved in. But overall Maya is more like a side of me and someone who sometimes cares less what people think of her. No, she is not all the way like me.

10. Have you ever faced similar struggles to your Stargirl character? And if you have, how has it affected your character?

Again from the last part, yes, for Maya King and the one’s in Justice I have faced some similar struggles. But in a New Society with Sexuality issues I have never faced them so I had to try and do research in figuring out how to put McKenna Garrick and make her have trouble for being gay, and how she is having these problems still because the world still sometimes looks at gay in certain religions as bad. But friends help you through it and that’s how I can say McKenna relates to me. Alright, I found out one more and this one is relating through the friendships and being bullied and how it feels to be trapped into something, and how you can be split because of how people view you and being judged hurts so bad when you think everyone uses you sometimes and trust is hard.

11. What was your favorite part about writing your book or book(s) in the Stargirl fanfiction? And why? Explain please.

I’m going to make this one just as in general for all books. I enjoy writing my multiple books for the Stargirl fanfiction since it’s a new horizon and it has potential for characters none of us have reached yet. And since it’s new and people don’t all know about it and read it yet...it gives us time to adjust and see how the community can build before more join it. But I mainly enjoy making the characters and explaining their choices and who they are.

12. What was your favorite scene through all your chapters? And if you have many choose 1 and explain why please?

My favorite scene in Justice has to be the scene where Maya saves Courtney, and the JSA’s asses when they are fighting sportsmaster and tigress as they are impressed by her. And how she could take them down with her training when the others are like...who is that? It was a fun scene to write, and publish. And for a New Society my favorite scene choosing one had to either be the kiss scene at the end between Courtney and McKenna or the Yolanda and McKenna scene during chapter 7 where Yolanda learns McKenna is gay and likes girls. Because it shows how your friends can be like family and even if you hurt someone can be there for you, and all you need to do is let them in.

13. If you were to make one other character to add to your book, and put in the plot line. Who would it be? Would they be an ISA member? JSA member? JSA Child? ISA Child? And who would they be?

Man I am adding people to the sequels of Justice, and A New Society.  But if I was to make one child in a solo book extra than those two that I don’t have in the sequels or published books I would make one the daughter of Jordan Mahkent named Julia Mahkent, who is twin to Cameron and she would Business classes and would be one to run for the Student Government. And I would maybe put her more in the middle like Anti-hero depending on the first episode or two of Stargirl S2 would go. But she would have the same powers of her dad, and kinda look like either Killer frost or Tracy Struss when in her “icicle” form. And she would be with either Courtney Whitmore, Cindy Burman, Artemis Crock, Henry King Jr., or last but not least Rick Tyler.

14. Do you have any plans for a sequel for your book? And do you have one spoiler?

Yes, and if you want to see any information on those on either book Justice or A New Society it should be at the end of Extra chapters, and even this questionnaire whenever it gets released.

15. What was your favorite chapter that you have written for your Stargirl Book? And Why? (This could be separate from question 12)

My favorite chapter to be written in Justice would be between Chapter Twelve or Nine. Because both have Maya King and an important male to her life. Like in Twelve I love the scenes between the characters even though they are small scenes I just love the relationship between Maya and Rick. But overall I would choose Nine because of how we see Maya and her brother develop their powers together and how they connect even more over them and get to see them building up together so in chapter 10 when he dies that it tears her apart. In A New Society my favorite written chapter has to be seven, ten, or twelve. I might say Twelve because of where it leads to the sequel so far, and how it ends.

16. Have you read any other Stargirl Fanfictions? And did they inspire you to write your story in a different way?

I have read them all and yes I have ones I don’t really react to the same as some other ones. But yes some inspired me before in ways of which characters I have.

17. Do you have one quote that you like from your story?

Justice: “Like everything that I have been feeling the connection, the bond, the blood, the laughs, the smiles, the sadness, the anger, and happiness all washed over as I could feel this power not only open up in me but get stronger than it was.”

A New Society: “It doesn’t matter if your gay McKenna, your still McKenna Garrick the same one who has helped me since everything with Henry and Cindy.”

18. What is your favorite part about writing this book? Did you have a memory that nobody but you knows about?

My favorite part of writing Justice is having so many characters to write as. And a favorite memory that nobody knows about since I didn’t talk about in an author's note is when I decided to . And in A New Society my favorite part about it was being able to get to show more about the hardness of being gay sometimes with a family who hasn’t been. But in the end if you have a strong family and care for each other you can face anything. And a favorite memory of writing A New Society was when I was

19. If you were to choose one of these three JSA/ISA members who would you Kill, Capture, or Marry?

(Lawrence/Pat/Steve), (Jordan/Dr.Ito/Henry King Sr.), (Henry King Jr./Rick Tyler/Cameron), (Courtney/Yolanda/Beth), (Cindy/Artemis/Jenny), (Barbara/Paula/Anaya), (Sylvester/Justin/Mike).

Kill: Steve Shape, Henry King Sr., Cameron Mahkent (sadly), Beth Chapel (sadly again I don’t want to), Cindy Burman, Paula Brooks, and Sylvester Pemberton (He already died once).

Capture: Pat Dugan, Dr.Ito, Henry King Jr., Yolanda Montez, Jenny Willaims, Anaya Bowin, and Justin (and let him go after).

Marry: Lawrence Crock, Jordan Mahkent, Rick Tyler, Courtney Whitmore, Artemis Crock, Barbara Whitmore, and Mike Dugan (and then break up with him to insure his safety).

20. Any more things I didn’t ask but you want your readers to know?

Anything else you guys need to know is that I am so thankful for all the support. And I’m not lying, I tear up about it all the time. It was super fun to do this questionnaire and I can’t wait to be back in the sequel to write to you more. And in the prequel of Justice. Along with Burgeon. So see you soon and thank you again.
