Chapter 7
It was morning in the Alola region, and the sun was just coming through the bedroom window hitting the eye's of a certain young lemon blonde haired trainer. Bonnie stirred in her bed, not really wanting to wake up yet. After a few minutes of this she finally sat up in bed, rubbed her eyes and began to look for her cell phone to see the time. She then saw it sticking out from underneath Dedenne, who was still asleep at the foot of the bed. She carefully pulled it out, not wanting to wake him, then checked the time, "seven AM. Hmmm, might as well get up and eat breakfast." The word breakfast was all Dedenne needed to start waking up. Bonnie changed her cloths, picked up Dedenne and her pokeballs and headed downstairs for breakfast. After getting downstairs she noticed Clemont and Korrina weren't up yet, this didn't surprise her though since the first match wasn't until ten and Korrina's match was the tenth match so they weren't in any rush to get to the stadium. Bonnie released her Pokemon and gave them their breakfast, then put some bread in the toaster as she drank some orange juice and wondered, "hmm, what should I do this morning. I could lay out on the beach again, go swimming in the ocean with Lapras, go check out some of the shops." Bonnie thought and thought, then an idea came that made her smile. As soon as her toast popped she quickly put some peanut butter and jelly on and practically inhaled it. Her Pokemon saw how fast she was moving and ate faster as well so they didn't hold her up. She then returned her Pokemon except for Dedenne who jumped into her bag that was over her shoulder, climbed onto her bike and peddled off.
It didn't take her long to get to her destination, Ash and Serena's house. She peddled to the back of the house and looked around, "Where is everyone?" She wondered as she didn't see any of the Pokemon out. She got off the bike and continued to look until she saw a figure by the beach and headed to it. As she got closer she saw two other figures beside the first. "Good morning Serena." She called out when she was close enough not to yell. Serena being as pregnant as she was couldn't easily turn around, but did recognize the voice, "Good morning Bonnie." Even though she couldn't Delphox and Sylveon which were on either side of her could and also said their greetings. When Bonnie got closer Dedenne jumped out of Bonnie's bag and went to play with Pikachu and Sylveon's evee and Serena's Alolan Vulpix and Pancham. Greninja and Delphox's Froakie was playing in the water with Serena's Primarina. When Bonnie sat down she noticed Delphox holding something very close to her body. "Delphox what do you have there?" Bonnie asked curiously. Delphox smiled and revealed it to be a Pokemon egg. "She had it this morning. It looks like I'm not going to be the only one talking care of a new born around here." Serena said with a smile. "Congratulations Delphox. I bet you hope this one will be a Fennickan." Said Bonnie. Delphox smiled and said in Pokemon speech that she does, but that she will be happy no matter what hatches. Even though Bonnie and Serena couldn't understand her, Delphox and Serena's bond was strong enough for Serena to guess and Delphox confirmed it. Serena then looked to Bonnie, "so Bonnie, what brings you here so early?" "Well, when I woke up Clemont and Korrina weren't up yet, and it sounded like a good idea to visit one of my favorite couples." "So it had nothing to do with Max staying with us?" Serena said with a smirk. Bonnie just blushed and looked around, "by the way, where is everyone?" Serena held in her giggles, as she was amused by Bonnie avoiding the question, "Ash and Max went on a five mile run with their Pokemon, they should be back soon."
The girls talked for a little while longer as they waited, Bonnie was trying to figure out the gender of the baby, while Serena was trying to get Bonnie to admit she had a huge crush on Max. Then they felt the ground start to shake, "right on time. Bonnie, your about to see my favorite part of Ash training so hard with his Pokemon." Bonnie was a bit confused about what Serena ment, so she kept her eyes open looking for her answer. The flying types arrived first, flying over head and went straight for the pool of fresh water set up for the Pokemon to drink from. The water Pokemon, as they got closer turned to the ocean and ran in, while the others joined the flying types at the pool. Ash and Max saw Serena and Bonnie and continued to them. "Good morning Serena, Bonnie." Ash said as he arrived, and then removed his tank top and used it as a towel to wipe the sweat of his face. Bonnie saw a big smile on Serena's face, so she followed her gaze. She then realized Serena's favorite part of Ash's training, as she saw Ash's ripped body covered in sweat as he glistened in the sun. Max saw where Bonnie's eyes were and knew he had to try and break her attention, "Good morning Bonnie." He then lifted his shirt to wipe the sweat off his face. "Good m-m-morning." Bonnie said as she studered as she looked and saw Max had a six pack as well. Max's wasn't as defined as Ash's, but for Bonnie it was enough to make her drool a little bit.
After Ash and Max showered and everyone had some breakfast they headed to the stadium. When they arrived in the League Suite, Max was in awe at the sight, elite four members and champions from all the regions, some of the best trainers in the world all in one place. Max wanted to go up to them and start talking and asking questions, however he was the sixth match of the day and they arrived a little late, so he didn't want to end up cutting a conversation short for his match. He instead joined Ash, Serena, and Bonnie at some seats where they could watch the matches. They saw several good matches, including Gary beating a member of the Kalos elite four. Soon enough the announcement was made for Max and Misty to report to the battle field for their match. Ash went with him using an elevator that took them to the locker room floor for drug testing the Pokemon. Ash went with just in case Max had any people try to give him trouble. The local news found out about what Norman, Flint, Lola, and Johanna did to Ash's mom and reported on it. With Ash being the champion and loved by the people of the Alola region they were furious, and Ash wanted to make sure nobody took it out on Max.
After Max's Pokemon tested clean he and Ash headed to the tunnel on his side of the field. "Nervous?" "Yes." "Are you going to beat her?" "Defiantly." "First on the red side, we have from Cerulean city in the Kanto region, the Cerulean City gym leader, Misty Waterflower." Called the announcer. Misty then walked out to her trainers box to the cheers of the crowd with a smile on her face as she waved. When Misty was in her trainers box the announcer continued, "and on the blue side from Petalburg City in the Hoenn region, we have last year's winner of the Ever Grande Conference, Max Maple." As Max walked out he received a very different response, boos and people throwing trash at him. Up in the league suite everyone was shocked at the spectators behavior. As for Bonnie she looked down at Max, with tears starting to come down her cheeks as he continued to walk with his head down to his box. Misty on the other side just smirked at how the people were treating him. Max saw out of the corner of his eye a water bottle coming right for his head. He put his arms up to block it, but nothing happened. The crowd had grown silent as Max looked and saw the water bottle just inches away from his head, caught by none other than Ash. Ash then signaled to the referee to bring him his microphone so he could speak. Once he had the microphone he addressed the audience, "what do you people think your doing? Why are you booing this trainer, because of what his father did to my family?" Ash looked around the stadium and saw many people nodding. "How dare you all judge Max for the crimes his father committed. Max is a long time friend and I know he didn't know anything about what his father did. Now let's try that again, this time showing Max the respect he deserves." The crowd started to cheer, louder and louder, even louder than when Misty came out. Ash handed the referee the microphone back and looked towards Misty and saw here glaring at him. Ash only smiled back at her as his wished Max luck and walked back into the tunnel.
"The match between Misty Waterflower and Max Maple is about to begin. The match will be three on three, substitutions will be allowed. The winner will be decided when all three of one of the trainers Pokemon are unable to battle. Trainers release your first pokemon." Announced the referee. "GO Golduck." "Gardevoir I chose you." "Both trainers ready," Misty and Max nodded, "battle begin!" "I hope you understand Max, your not winning this match." Taunted Misty. Max only smiled as he showed his new bracelet with a key stone in it, and Gardevoir showed her necklace holding her mega stone. "What! Where did you get thoughs? You didn't have them when we arrived at the island." Misty questioned. "An old friend gave them to me so we could be a bit more competitive." Max then touched the key stone, "Gardevoir, mega evolve!" Gardevoir was enveloped in a bright light, when the light died down a mega Gardevoir stood ready for battle. Misty then looked past Max and into the tunnel to see Ash smirking. "Gardevoir future sight." Misty refocused on the match to see Gardevoir sending several energy balls into the future. "Misty, a lesson for you. Keep your focus on the battle in front of you." Max said in a condescending tone, the same tone Misty used on him many times while training together. Misty's expression changed to a furious one, "golduck, aqua tail." Golduck's tail became enveloped in water, it then swung it at Gardevoir who easily dodged it. Golduck used aqua tail several more times, Gardevoir dodged with incredible speed that it became a blur. Gardevoir then used psychic to throw Golduck against a wall. Golduck recovered and used hydro pump, Gardevoir used psychic again to send the attack back at him. Before Golduck could recover Gardevoir used hypnosis putting Golduck to sleep, then followed up with dream eater knocking him out. "Golduck is unable to battle." Misty returned Golduck and grit her teeth, furious at Max and Ash. Normally if Golduck lost to Gardevoir it would definatly look tired, but Gardevoir still looked ready to fight. Misty also wondered what happened to that future sight, it never hit during the entire match. "Trainer Misty, please send out your next Pokemon." Said the referee, breaking Misty from her thoughts. "GO Starmie."
Starmie started off with rapid spin, hoping the speed would be enough to at least hit Gardevoir. Gardevoir kept dodging as Starmie kept using rapid spin, eventually Starmie got lucky and grazed Gardevoir's arm. This was enough to give Starmie the opening it needed and hit Gardevoir again, this time hitting her back sending her forward several feet, landing on the ground. Starmie attacked again, this time using gem power, however Gardevoir managed to dodge at the last moment. Gardevoir then used psychic to send Starmie back followed by moonblast, finishing Starmie off. "Starmie is unable to battle. Trainer Misty please send out your final Pokemon." That's when it hit Misty, this was her last Pokemon. If he can't do it she's out of the tournament. She clenched tight onto the pokeball, before releasing it. "GO Gyarados." Misty's last hope was her strongest Pokemon. Misty looked at Gardevoir and saw it looked pretty tired, so she knew she would beat at least one of Max's Pokemon. Gardevoir then reverted to her normal form, "Gardevoir return." Max said returning his Pokemon. "What are you doing." Misty yelled. "Gardevoir is tired, and i dont see any reason for her to get hurt in a battle she can't win, while I have two more Pokemon I can send out." Max replied as he pulled his next pokeball from his belt. The crowd heard this and started to cheer for Max for caring so much about his Pokemon. "GO Sceptile." Misty smirked, "Max you should have saved Gardevoir for this battle, your going to need Mega Evolution to beat Gyarados. Gyarados, mega evolve." Max and Sceptile just smiled as they showed their key stone and mega stone. "Sceptile, mega evolve." Misty's eyes practically popped out of her head as she saw Max could Mega Evolve two Pokemon. "Expect the unexpected Misty." Max said with a smile.
"Sceptile bullet seed." Sceptile opened his mouth as he began to fire the seeds at Gyarados. Gyarados tried to block with aqua tail, but several seeds got past and hit it. Gyarados then used hydro pump, Sceptile jumped up to dodge. Once it landed Sceptile charged forward and hit Gyarados with leaf blade. Gyarados cried out in pain, then used crunch to prevent Sceptile's next leaf blade. Gyarados then threw Sceptile up into the air and was about to use twister, but was hit by Sceptile using leaf storm. Sceptile charged at Gyarados again ready to use leaf blade, but Gyarados came at him with crunch. Sceptile jumped up and dodged the attack and used the fin on Gyarados's back as a spring board sending him back up, even higher. When he was going up Sceptile started charging up his solar beam, when Misty saw this she had Gyarados start charging up hyper beam. Since it was a bright sunny day Sceptile was able to charge his attack faster, and then release it at Gyarados. When the solar beam was only a few feet away Gyarados released its hyper beam, effectively holding it back. This was short lived as the solar beam began to push back the hyper beam and hit Gyarados causing an explosion leaving him in a dust cloud. Sceptile landed in front of Max, even though tired he was ready to continue the battle if needed. When the dust cleared everyone could see Gyarados still standing. Gyarados was about to attack again but was hit by the energy balls Gardevoir sent into the future. When the attack ended the crowd cheered as they saw Gyarados fall to the ground and revert to its normal form. "Gyarados is unable to battle. So the match goes to Max Maple." Announced the referee.
Max went back up to the league suite with Ash, still amazed that he won. When the elevator door opened Max received another round of applause as the champions and elite fours applauded and congratulated Max on his victory, some stating that they hoped to have an opportunity to battle him. As Max made his way through the crowd getting pats on the back and shaking hands, he heard his name getting called by a certain voice repeatedly, "Max, Max." Max turned around to see the source was none other the Bonnie. Bonnie walked up to him with a blush on her face and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, "Congratulations on your win Max." Max was frozen with his eyes wide, as Bonnie turned and walked away. Gary then started to pat Max on the back, "look at you, win one match and the girls just want a taste of your greatness. Reminds me of myself." Everyone sweat drop, then Lillie grabed him by the ear and pulled him away, "I'll just settle for your ear."
The rest of the day was filled with amazing matches. The two biggest being between Adler and Paul and Diantha and Cynthia, where Adler and Diantha were knocked out. It was getting late and Ash and Serena were about to leave. "Hey Ash." Max said getting Ash's attention, "with you having that meeting with Red at your house, I'm just going to stay out and come back later so I can stay out of your way." "Are you sure?" Ash asked. "I'm sure. Can I just have a key so you don't have to wait up on me." Ash then handed Max a key to his house. "Here you go, have fun tonight." "Oh he will, He's hanging out with me, so you know he'll have fun." Said Bonnie as she latched on to Max's arm. "Well ok then, see you all tomorrow, bye" said Ash as he and Serena left to go back to their house for dinner with Red.
Meanwhile back at Ash and Serena's house, Delia was busy making dinner for everyone. "Ok, now time to prepare desert. Chocolate walnut cookies, Ash's favorite." Delia froze, "wait a minute." Delia then went over the entire dinner in her mind and realized everything she made was a favorite of Ash, but also Red's favorites too. "Never met before this tournament and yet so much alike." Delia then looked down at the ground and a single tear rolled down her check, "please Ash, don't be made at me for what I did."
