*Sasha's POV*

No No No No No No.....

Was all that was running through my head.

He can't die, he can't.

No No No No No No.....

When we made it to the dome I sprinted out of the van telling Ivy to call Dani to help her with the currently unconscious boys. She pulled out her phone and I ran to meet Marko.

"MARKO!?" I yelled from the top of the opening in the ground. It would be a lot easier if he just flew me down so I called him hoping that he would. He came up without a word and grabbed me bridal style flying back down the pit. Neither of us said anything as I ran furiously to the roots of the tree and put my hand against one of the bigger ones. Over the past couple days the roots have been getting dimmer and moving to form what looked like a doorway. The only problem with this doorway was that it was filled with dirt. If you opened the door you see nothing but earth.

Until now

I opened the door and saw the lifeless 16 year old body of Anthony.

He looked good for someone who has been dead for however many years. His bright curly red hair was now a little past ear length and covering his forehead his kinda-tan skin was covered in dirt like the rest of his clothes. He still had freckles all over his face and arms, but they were barley visible because of all the dirt. His eyes were closed but I remember his enchanting amber eye's perfectly.

Oh my god I missed him so much.

I wanted to pull him out of the dirt and hug him right now. But I knew how the system worked. One goes in one goes out. Or the whole tree, the dome, anything that had anything to do with nature would die... no I couldn't not yet. We had to save him first and I knew exactly how.

"Sasha" Marko said from behind me. I heard him take a few steps closer to me and I felt his hand grab onto mine."We have to save him"

"I know" I respond quietly

"How? You know the rules. One in, one out. Last time the change almost killed us. We can't risk that again"

"I know Marko" I turned to look at him tears forming in my eyes knowing what I had to do to save Anthony, and Marko, and everyone else. Marko looked at me as if reading my thoughts. His eyes went wide with realization.

"No Sasha! You can't! I almost lost my sister to this damn tree! I lost my best-friend to this tree I am not losing you!"

It was true.

The tree was magical, but all magic... comes with a price. This tree drives a hard bargain. The tree is powerful enough to protect everything in nature and without the help of the tree every living creature, every living thing will no longer have the protection of the tree making them much more vulnerable. The slightest gust of wind might cause a full grown buck to shrivel into ashes. Simply breathing might kill something smaller like a rabbit or a fox. The price for the tree is a life line. But not just any life line. It has to be the life of a human. The tree feeds on the soul of the chosen one, and depending the person decides how long the soul will last and how strong it will be. If you sacrifice yourself to the tree, you age normally, and when you die, the tree dies.

When the chosen one dies then another person is selected. Many years ago Marko's older sister was chosen to save the tree but Anthony saved her. She was coming to pick Marko up from hanging out one day and she managed to find her way into the basement where Anthony had conveniently been hiding, the tree possessed her and as she was about to step into the tree Anthony pushed her out of the way and went in for her. Not wanting Marko to lose his older sister.

That day Marko did not lose his sister, but instead we both lost our best friend.

"Marko it's our best chance. If we do it quickly it may not completely kill Anthony and you guys could get some answers." I said holding back a sob.

If the chosen one is switched out with another person before they die then the chosen one has the opportunity to live the rest of there lives as if nothing happened. However they are given the gift of wisdom, they will be taught all the secrets of the earth, space, humans, emotions, etc.

"Sasha no" He said weakly. I said nothing. I couldn't say anything. So I put my arms silently asking for a hug. He responded slowly walking up to me and wrapping his arms around me. Well held each other for a few minutes as tears rolled down my cheeks.

"Marko. Look at me." I said pulling away from. He looked at me with pleading eyes full of sadness that broke my heart.

"I'll do it. Let me go. Please Sash" He begged

"Marko. I have to do this. You guys need Anthony more then you need me" I responded letting out a quiet sob.

I put my head against his chest and he put his head on mine. We sat there for a few minutes... silently.

"Come on" I said "Let's get Anthony out of there" I pulled away from him and walked to the door. It was already open so I grabbed Anthony's hand and pulled. There was a weird barrier keeping him in the tree. We had to brake the barrier and get Anthony out. I managed to get his fingers out but that was it. Anthony was heavy. Marko saw me struggling and grabbed my waist telling me to make sure my grip was tight on his hand. He pulled on my waist, and I pulled Anthony's hand. Eventually we got him out from the waist up. The barrier was keeping him back. But as we continued to pull Anthony actually woke up.

"Marko!? Sasha!? What the hell!?"

"Anthony!!" I yelled letting go of his hand as Marko let go of my waist. I ran up to hug him and he embraced my hug.

"What are you guys doing you know that if I come out then someone else has to go in!"He said when I pulled away.

"yah we know" I said casually "I'm going to take your place"

"Sasha NO!" He yelled "you can't"

"Yes I can Anthony and I will. They need your help. Please Anthony."I gave him a determined look and he knows;Once I get an Idea in my head, It's not going away.

I didn't give him a chance to answer, I simply grabbed his arm and kept pulling. Marko caught on and grabbed onto my waist again before continuing to pull Anthony out. Anthony was helping to,he was moving his legs and trying to push himself out until finally, he as free and the barrier that was in the doorway disappeared.

Anthony's feet hit the floor and the dome started shaking. Marko quickly picked me up and hovered over the air so neither of us were shaking. Tears rolled down my cheek as I looked at him for possibly the last time.

"If your going to do this" He yelled over the noise. The world might've been shaking but all I could see or hear of feel... was Marko. "Then let me give you something" He leaned into me and crashed his lips onto mine.

The world may have been ending, Anthony was hit unconscious and lying on the ground, my friends could be in-danger right now trying to wake, Oliver and Jake. But I didn't care. I was focused on Marko. When a loud crash that couldn't go ignored was heard I pulled away from Marko and said"You have to let me go"

A tear rolled down his cheek as he quickly flew me over to the door way and I stood in it. The barrier that had been around Anthony started to grow at my feet and was coming back quickly. in less then a minute it was at my shoulders and I knew exactly what I wanted my last words to be.

"Marko!" I yelled as the barrier crawled up my neck.

"Yah!" He screamed back.

"Tell Beyoncé I love her!"

"Really!" he yelled

"Yes!"

"Sasha!" Marko yelled

"WHAT!?" The noise and shaking was almost unbearable even from inside the barrier.

"I LOVE YOU!!" He confessed. Before I could respond back the barrier covered my lips and before I knew it... Marko was in front of me looking deeply into my hazel eyes. Then suddenly everything went black, I felt my breathing slow down and I felt my soul being drained from you body until finally....

My breath stopped...

and the last thing I saw before I....

Transferred...

Was Marko....

He told me he loved me...

And I would never, ever, get the chance to say it back....
