🍭# 4 : lollipops
HANA ;
"Here's your lunch money," My dad reminded me as he passed by and handed me my new allowance for the day.
I faced him and took it. "Thanks, Dad," I replied back with a smile.
"So did you get to see the boys yesterday?" He asked while taking a sip from his cup of warm coffee.
I nodded my head and answered, "Yeah, I did. I first bumped into Byunghoon. Then Kyungwoo, and lastly, Juyoung and Kyungmin."
"Did the four of you get to hang out after school?"
"Kinda?"
"Kinda? What happened?"
I shrugged. "Juyoung likes someone and wanted to impress the girl, so he didn't stay for too long at the pc cafe."
"So it was just you, Kyungwoo, Kyungmin, and Byunghoon then?" My dad asked curiously.
"Yup, but only for the first two hours since it was getting late. Kyungwoo wanted me to get home before it got too dark out," I explained while finishing my breakfast. "So we left the pc cafe after playing League and he walked me back home."
Then my dad wiggled his eyebrows at me which made me choke on my chewed bacon. I drank some water from my glass and gave the middle-aged man a glare. He laughed at my reaction and patted my head.
But I swatted his hand away and told him, "Not funny, Dad. I could have choked to death, you know?"
"I know but I doubt that would have happened," My dad replied back, still teasing me. "You wouldn't let that happen. Because then you wouldn't see Kyungwoo anymore."
I groaned out loud, annoyed at what he was doing. Then I stood up and grabbed my backpack.
"I'm going now," I said before punching my dad's shoulder gently as my way of saying goodbye.
My dad did the same thing and chuckled when I walked out of the kitchen. I placed my shoes on when I reached the front door and opened it.
"Have fun, sweetie!" My dad called out before I left.
Then I walked down the front lawn to the gate of my house and when I was about to grab my bike from the side, I saw Kyungwoo leaning on the brick wall across from the gate while playing his phone. I blushed at his position and noticed how boyfriend material he looked. Then he looked up and saw me.
"Morning," He said as he walked over to me and grabbed my backpack.
"Uh, morning... I can carry my own bag," I said, surprised at his actions.
Then Kyungwoo leaned down to my height, not that I was short but because I wasn't looking up at him. "Are you feeling okay, Yoonhan?" He asked, using my childhood nickname.
Then he placed his hand on my forehead to check my temperature.
"Y-yeah, I'm feeling okay..." I answered while taking a step back and walking down the sidewalk in a hurry while rubbing my cheeks.
"Wait, up, Hana!" He called out as he caught up to me.
Then we both heard his phone going off. I looked at him and then he answered the call.
"Juyoung, what's up?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
Then he sighed and looked at me for help. I bit my bottom lip from laughing and wondered what Juyoung needed. Then the call ended and Kyungwoo spoke up, "Juyoung wants me to help him out with Jarim."
"Help for what?"
"He wants me to distract her."
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion at what he said. Then we continued to walk to Juyoung's studio apartment where he lives alone.
I was walking with Jarim on my left while Kyungwoo and Juyoung were right behind us. I was supposed to keep Jarim walking forward while Kyungwoo will distract her from Juyoung's secret plan.
I soon found out what Juyoung was up to after checking the date today. It was White Day and I literally wanted to strangle myself for totally forgetting in getting something for Kyungwoo. White Day is a special kind of holiday wherein the person will have to give gifts back to those people who gave him or her gifts on Valentine's Day. White Day always happens on March 14, a month after Valentine's Day, and usually, I end up remembering about today's holiday but it's been a year since I last gave someone something during this holiday...
I looked over at Kyungwoo and wondered quietly to myself, "Is Kyungwoo expecting something from me though?"
He did after all went to Busan last month to spend Valentine's Day with me like hoe we always do every year for the last 14 years.
"Maybe I can just buy him something for lunch later..." I thought quietly while glancing back at Kyungwoo but I didn't see him on Jarim's right side. Instead, I saw Juyoung acting strangely.
Then I looked behind me and saw Kyungwoo standing close to me while talking to Jarim about the game, Lineage M, which she is currently playing on his phone.
I looked away right away and paid close attention to the game on the phone. The two talked while I helped Jarim out with the game and Juyoung secretly placing smaller, colored items inside Jarim's bag. The game finally ended when we all reached the bus stop and the two boys had gone back to their original places as we stood together at the bust stop.
"I beat it," Jarim announced as she handed the phone back to its owner.
Then Kyungwoo took it and said, "Thank you."
"By the way, do you play Lineage? If you do, I'll play a couple of rounds for you," He added in as another distraction.
Jarim shook her head. "I don't play that."
Then the second part of Juyoung's plan started.
"Oh, uh, yah, Jarim," He called out, and once Jarim turned to look at him, he took his phone out towards her. "Can you give me your number?"
Then Kyungwoo and I couldn't help but cringe while restraining our laugh.
Our friend then continued on, "We never exchanged numbers."
"Sure." We all heard Jarim say.
But when Jarim was about to get Juyoung's phone, he dropped it to the ground intentionally.
This boy... I feel so sorry for his phone.
I watched Jarim kneel down to pick it up but just when she was about to I noticed Juyoung taking lollipops out of his hoodie's pocket and realized that the small, colored items that I saw from earlier were these lollipops. Did he seriously buy all of them for Jarim?
I looked over at Kyungwoo with a raised eyebrow. He just shook his head as his answer and then we both looked back at the two to see Jarim's reaction.
"Did you know today's White Day?" Juyoung asked, oblivious to Jarim's irritated expression.
Then he innocently added, "I got these for you~! Look inside your bag, too!" and looked over at me and Kyungwoo, who shook his head at our best friend.
Jarim stood up and looked inside her bag, now understanding at what just happened back when we were walking and when Kyungwoo had asked for her help with the game on his phone.
I wanted to apologize to her for our unusual and annoying behavior but before I could she spoke up.
"Here," she said while handing the phone back to Juyoung.
Juyoung looked at her in confusion as he took his phone back. "Huh? What about your number?" He asked with a sad tone.
Then Jarim announced, "The bus is here," and walked over to the now parked city bus and got in.
"Okay, I'm halfway there," Juyoung whispered.
I mentally groaned at him and slapped the back of his head while Kyungwoo slapped his back.
"Halfway to where?" He asked Juyoung. "Is this what you planned?"
"It's White Day. I can't just let it pass," Juyoung exclaimed. Then he looked at me and added in, "I bet Hana has something up her sleeves as well!"
I glared at him and was about to punch his shoulder but Kyungwoo grabbed my right wrist before any damage could be done.
But just when I was about to tell him not to interfere, I saw the bus moving from the side of my eye.
"YAH! THE BUS!" I exclaimed and then we started to run.
"MISTER!" Juyoung shouted.
But we were too late.
