A/N: At the start of the story Natsu is going to be 16. This is going to happen about 7 months after he got his liscense. PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME THAT LISANNA SHOULD NOT BE IN THE CAR WITH HIM, DUE TO THE AGE REQUIREMENTS OF 16. HE HAS HIS LICENSE FOR 7 MONTHS. AND IN THIS FIC THE AGE REQUIREMENT FOR GETTING YOUR LICENSE IS 15.5 YEARS OF AGE. BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ANY BULL CRAP ABOUT THAT SMALL OF A DETAIL. I do want to hear any constructive criticism, but not anyone bitching about that tiny detail, if it's a huge deal (any other detail. 3rd Person POV

Friday, October 13th

As the sun was setting over the mountain pass surrounding Magnolia, in the country of Fiore, it started to rain heavily. A black and red Toyota Tacoma Pickup Truck was driving up the pass to get to the next town over called Acalypha. Which at the town's local prep academy, Sabertooth Prep, the first basketball scrimmage of the season was held there against Fairy Tail Academy in about three hours.

When the pickup truck was almost at the crest of Mt Hakobe a heavily drunken 18 wheeler truck driver lost control of his truck, which carried heavily flammable materials and hit the unsuspecting pickup truck. Which caused the 18 wheeler to catch fire and explode, and which in turn caused the pickup truck to flip and tumble over the railing into the frosty forest down below and into the lake.

Natsu's POV

Lisanna and I are driving to my first scrimmage as captain of my high school basketball team. We are currently jamming out, terribly off tune I might add, to the Rap Musical Hamilton on my iPod as we are driving up Hakobe Pass. We laughed whenever we look each other in the eyes as sang off tune. We can make each other laugh with the very slight occurrence that is why Lis is my best friend, who I've known her since we were in diapers.

As we were singing long with the song where we are introduced to The Schuyler sisters, Angelica, Elizabeth also known as Eliza and Margarita "Peggy" Schuyler. I noticed huge headlights coming towards my car on the wrong side of the road. The driver is clearly drunk. My eyes widened as I used my horn to try to signal to the driver to get back in the correct lane. Despite my efforts, I was too late and the 18 wheeler went head first into my car causing me to flip over the guard railing.

As we continued to tumbled down the side of the Mountain, I looked over at Lis fearfully and saw she was struggling to breath and blood is trickling down her chin. The next thing I know we hit a lake at the bottom of the mountain. Then the next thing I know that the world went black.

Grandeeney Dragneel's POV

As soon as I got the rest of my family into the family van to get to Natsu's first basketball scrimmage as captain, I got a call from the hospital that I founded and which I am the head doctor there. That there is a serious vehicle accident victims both Natsu's age. Coming in from a black and red Toyota Tacoma Pickup Truck that landed in a lake at the base of Mount Hakobe.

Suddenly I have gotten a grim feeling, so I turned back speeding towards Magnolia Hospital, completely ignoring the complaints coming from the rest of my kids and husband.

As soon as I got to the hospital, I told Igneel to take the kids home until I say that they can come. As soon as Igneel drove out of the lot, two ambulances came into view. My head of the Emergency Room Doctor on duty, Porlyusica, told me that I shouldn't work this case. The only reason a doctor can't work a case is when it involves a family member of said doctor. (A/N: so technically a doctor can choose to work a case on a family member, but it is highly regarded as the thing not to do. Trust me, I got three aunts in the medical Field. One a NICU Respiratory Nurse. One a pediatrician and another a pharmacist. And all have told me it's the thing many due so they don't make rash decisions to save their loved ones life) Oh god, my ominous feeling was correct. It is Natsu and Lisanna, I need to contact her parents.

As the paramedics unloaded both the ambulances I sighed in relief when I saw my son, not dead. On the other hand he is having air pumped into his lungs and two other paramedics surrounding his lower body (below the groin) trying to suppress the massive amount of blood loss. When I saw the other ambulance steering a stretcher with a body bag towards the morgue. So I called Naomi and Raiden Strauss to break the news to them.

(A/N: Sorry to all the Lisanna Fans, but I do personally find her really annoying about implying that Natsu and her should get married at the age of 10 or 11! That is an elementary school age crush! To all the older readers out there, I ask this do you remember your first elementary school crush? I think not, i personally do not. I think Lucy is a better best friend and to all you no yaoi shippers out there a better partner material for Natsu, and #GRATSU_IS_MUCH_BETTER!)

19-ish hours later

After the eighteenth hour of his surgery, I called Igneel to bring Zeref and Wendy to the hospital. Zeref because he is really overly protective of all his younger siblings with Natsu being his favorite little brother. He will most likely go into big brother bear mode (like how overprotective mom's go into mama bear mode. This is the overprotective big brother version of that) . Little Wendy, so she can try to understand the gravity of this situation. Natsu is her favorite older brother, and she will probably will like to help him in anyway she can.

Within the next hour they had arrived, with Wendy, in her light blue nightgown, on Zeref's back still too asleep to walk. Zeref was dressed in his black sweatpants and matching hoodie with no T-shirt on with his raven hair resembling a serious case of bedhead. Finally my husband arrived along with my father, Makarov Dreyar, who is the current Headmaster of Fairy Tail Academy where all of my children currently go to for school. Both of the elder males actually bothered to get dressed but their hygiene is an entirely different story.

About thirty minutes after they had arrived, Porlyusica had finally come out of the operation room 4. I was extremely relieved that the surgery went well with no complications. Also i was extremely mad at the dead drunken truck driver who caused this whole thing, my baby is now paralyzed from the waist down and his lungs are now unable to properly circulate his air flow. He is most likely going to be in a depression when he hears that Lisanna is dead, and blame himself.

The Following Monday Morning, 7:30 AM Fairy Tail Academy

Gray's POV

'Crap, I am so late! Good way to make a first impression at a new school.' I mentally scold myself, as I walked into the main hallway of my new school, Fairy Tail Academy. After about 10 minutes of useless wandering around, I finally found the main office. As I walked into the office, all the staff members had somber expression, and some have teary eyes.

"I need to make an announcement to the school. To tell them what has happened to the High School basketball team's new captain." An exceptionally short old man said to the attendance lady, who apparently holders the loudspeaker microphone. She nodded and gave him the microphone.

" Alright kids, instead of the usual morning announcements I would like to shed some light of what has happened, this past Friday." The old man started.

'What happened on Friday that is so terrible?' I mentally questioned.

"You all may have heard that our High School Basketball Team was disqualified at the beginning of season scrimmage against Sabertooth Prep. As most of you know my fourth eldest grandson is the newly appointed team captain of the team." He continued slowly. I could almost imagine all of the high school students slowly nodding their head simultaneously. "Well when he was driving to the game on Mount Hakobe Pass a drunken 18 wheeler driver hit his truck head on. His companion in the car Lisanna Strauss was killed instantly. While my grandson Natsu, is alive but only barely. If he wakes from his coma, he will be paralyzed from the waist down and have severe breathing difficulties. Anyone who was close, even siblings, to one of the two victims you may go to the auditorium to see a grief counselor. And when you sign in to see the grief counselor you will have excused absences and will not go against your credit for the classes you miss. Have a good day." The old man finally finished, and finally noticed me standing there awkwardly.

(A/N: Schools do have grief consuler called in from the district office. To help friends of the vitcim help grief. How I know this is when I was a Sophomore in Highschool like 2 weeks before end of the year. A classmate of mine from Culinary class drowned due to his body froze from too cold of water when he swam in a lake near the school. And all of friends and all were there for the whole school day to basically let us cry in school without being judged. He was like a surrogate brother to me. RIP Joey Wallen 1998 - 2015 ;( It was a huge deal b/c I live in a tiny Town with a total of 3 towns in the district and everyone knew everyone. )

"Who are you?" He questioned me with his voice on the point of breaking into tears.

"I am Gray Fullbuster the new transferre." I said really nervously.

"Sorry, I forgot about you this past weekend. Here is your schedule, and wait here until your guide, Erza, comes. She has all of your classes." He said while he hands me the class schedule and a map of the whole campus.

Five minutes later, a girl my age with flaming red hair and warm brown eyes which looked puffy, as if she had been crying. 'She probably knew the victims well.' was my only thought. As she walked in the room she silently motioned for me to come with her.

"Sorry, I am only going to quickly show you where 1st period is. I am going to go to the auditorium with my friends. I will maybe see you at lunch. I will save you a seat at our table." She said so quietly I almost didn't hear her, so I nodded dumbly.

In no time in all we made it to my first period, Mr. Clive's National History Class. Then she, gave a me a small smile then she left in the direction of where i think the auditorium is. After she was gone, I knocked quietly on the door. Then a man with Auburn hair poked his head out and gestured me in. Then placed a firm hand on my shoulder to introduce me to the class.

"Alright class, we got a new student today. Alright kid, tell us your name and where you came from." He told the class then me.

"My name is Gray Fullbuster, I moved here to live with my aunt Ur and cousins Lyon and Ultear to get a proper education. I lived in a small town in the North Country called Normont." I said proudly.

"Welcome Gray, now we got an empty seat next to Natsu. Natsu raise your hand." He asked totally oblivious to what the principal's announcement.

When he said that boys name a girl with pink and black hair looked depressed and looked about to cry. Then a boy with spiky black hair and red eyes and loads of piercings on his ears and nose spoke up. "Gildarts my idiotic older brother landed himself in the hospital and murdered his best friend."

"Gajeel-nii, is mostly correct not about Natsu-nii being dumb but the other part, Mr Clive." The pink and black haired girl squeaked out the ran out of the room crying.

Then Mr. Clive did a facepalm, and mumbled about how forgetful he is. "Alright Gray, see that empty table in the back? The one closer to the window is Natsu's you can take the one next to the isle." I nodded then walked to the directed seat.

As I sat down, Mr. Clive started with his lesson, "Alright, today we are going to start on the first settlers in Fiore......"

Timeskip to the next Monday October 23rd around 11 am

Natsu's POV

After my world went black, I felt I was floating in water. A light was off in the distance. I willed myself to go slowly to the light, and at the end all I saw is white. I closed my eyes for a second and opened them again. This time I got a better understanding of my surroundings, I was in the hospital. I looked to my right and saw my mom sleeping at my side, while holding my hand.

"Mom?" I questioned, as I spoke it came out very horse. As I said that she jumped so high she could have gotten a concussion from if she had hit the ceiling.

"Natsu you're awake!" She exclaimed with a huge smile on her face and tears streaming down her face. With that being said she jumped up and ran to most likely find someone.

Not even two minutes later,mom came back with a lady with magenta hair with Sapphire blue eyes. "I see you're awake hi Natsu, my name is Sayuri Blendy. I am your nurse." said the magenta haired lady, as she began to checked my vitals.

"So how are you feeling?" Asked Sayuri after she was done checking my vitals.

"Um, I can't feel my legs. Why is that?" I responded.

"Natsu honey, you are paralyzed from the waist down." My mom spoke up, wow she was so quiet I almost forgot she was in here.

"So no more basketball?" I asked very cautiously.

"In a way yes, I talked to your grandfather and he said 'your number will be retired but you will be a honorary captain of the team but they will replace you with an acting captain and replace your position.' Meaning you will be expected to go to games, and practices once you recovered enough." Mom spoke ever so softly.

"Um, what happened to Lisanna?" I asked.

"Honey, Lisanna is dead."

As soon as mom said that sentence my whole world came crashing down.

Hi! Thanks for bothering to read my first attempt at eventual yaoi. Sorry if the middle seemed rushed, I wanted it to be done and published on October 13, but didn't. So Natsu is paralyzed, with a deformed lung due to being crushed (and they don't have that advanced technology to fix that to my knowledge. So he is going to have a breathing tank) and will definitely have depression. And be warned of really slow updates.
