In eighth grade, after dating Christina and a few other girls, Eli began a transformation. His best friend at the time, Ron, was a huge flirt and Eli wasn't really noticed when Ron was around. But at the beginning of eighth grade, Ron had gone out with all the girls who were willing to and that made Eli's rise to douche-dom possible.

First of all, Eli became more outgoing. He had been a sort of recluse before, only talking to people that weren't his friends when they made him (like me, for example), but then he suddenly began showing his ability to flirt. It completely changed the game and nothing was ever the same again.

"Hey Eli."

"Julie."

"How's it going?"

"Fine, I guess."

"Nothing new going on with you?"

"No..."

"Cause I've heard a lot of new things about you."

"Gotta hand it to the gossip mill."

"Yep."

"..."

"Real chatty today, aren't you?"

"Am I ever?"

"Hey, I shouldn't expect you to be something you aren't."
