I put all my stuff away and I grab my little purse that literally only holds some cash, my debit card, ID, phone and a cheap ass pair of headphones. I take out my phone though and throw in lip gloss. I unplug my portable charger and squeeze it in there as well. It better fit because I don't have another bag that goes with this outfit. I finally close the bag and I place the strap on my shoulder. I turn off the lights upstairs and go downstairs. I wait on the couch, I unlock my phone when I get a notification.

Jace : I'm 2 minutes away. 

At least I know his phone isn't broken. I just roll my eyes and next thing I know there's a knock on the door. Must be Jace. I get up and turn off the lights, I open the front door and I roll my eyes even though he looks scrumptious. I let him look at me for a second. He's wearing a a blue suit and his dress shirt just so happens to match my dress. His hair is disheveled but the top is sort of going to the side which gives it a put-together sort of look. 

I finish taking him in just to see that he's still staring at me well I think my lips really. I step outside, locking the door behind me and I close it.

"Are we going to stand here all night or are we going to this party?" I ask a bit rudely. Jace snaps out of his little trance and just gulps.

"We're not going." Jace says and I nearly slap his eyebrows off him.

"I mean yet, we're not going just yet. We don't have to be there until 7:30 and it's only 6:45." Jace says and I just sigh. I walk to his car and he follows behind me. Just for the hell of it, I walk a little slower than normal just so Jace can see it all. Once we're in the car and he's biting his lip I know I'm doing a damned good job. 

"So where are we going?" I ask lazily as he starts the car.

"First, I want to say I'm sorry. I forgot to text you and hang out with you. That's all me being stupid. But this is why I'm here now. We're going to hang out before the party." Jace admits. All I wanted was an explanation or an apology at least. I thought I'd be angry, I should just erupt but surprisingly I just smile.

"It's okay, as long as you're trying to make up for it now." I say and Jace lets out a huge breath and smiles. 

"Okay good, by the way you look fucking gorgeous. You are so lucky to have that boyfriend of yours." Jace says and I look at him questioningly. 

"What boyfriend? I'm single." I say. How the hell do I have a boyfriend and not know about it? 

"Haven't you been dating someone? Maeve said she saw you with some guy and Jade said a few days later you were snapchatting her with the same guy. I figured it was just a cousin or something but then I was sent a picture of you kissing the guy on the cheek and his forehead so I figured if you were dating someone I should really keep to myself. I'd be mad if I was dating a girl and one of her friends keeps flirting with her despite knowing I'm with her." Jace explains as he pulls out and drives off.

"Jace, that wasn't my boyfriend. That was the uncle of this kid I babysit. You could have asked me about it, though it is nice that you backed off because you thought I had a boyfriend." I say completely understanding where Jace was coming from. 

"Well shit then I'm really sorry." Jace says and I just laugh.

"It's fine but where are we going?" I ask Jace again and he just stays silent. I sigh loudly and he smirks.

"You bum, it better be somewhere good. I better not sweat because it took hours to get this make up on." I say to Jace.

"Relax." Jace says and then he pulls up to an empty lot. He gets out then gets me out and we walk a few blocks to some little nightclub.

"Jace, you know I can't go in there." I whisper to him but he just keeps walking and fist bumps with the bouncer. We walk inside and immediately we're in a little hallway but I hear a Kehlani song playing. 

"Jace, what are we doing here?" I ask one last time, I start to mumble the song and once we get to the end of the hallway it gets really loud. We go through a side door and start walking up some steps.

"We're seeing the last 20 minutes of a Kehlani show." Jace says and then we're inside, well actually we're in an upper section. I see Kehlani on stage and then I nearly cry. I look at Jace and he smiles at me. I engulf him in a hug and I sing my heart out for the next 20 minutes. Eventually the show ends and Jace takes me out a different way than we came in.

"Jace, no more surpises." I say to him.

"Now that princess is a promise I'll gladly not keep." Jace smiles at me and we go to this little photoshoot set up still inside the nightclub. We stand in front of the camera but then Jace leaves me and pulls out his phone. 

"Alright Riele, smile." Jace tells me and I do but then I hear a voice I never expected to.

"Riele? That's a pretty cool name. I like it." 

I turn my head and literally Kehlani is standing right flipping in front of me. I just look around with the biggest smile ever and I go hug her. She actually hugs me back

"Oh my gosh! I love you." I say and then I pull away and admire her. 

"Aw you're so beautiful. If I could do my make up like you, I'd have all the niggas." Kehlani says and I laugh. 

"Jace I'm so going to kill you for this." I say as I turn around and see he's recording me.

"I love you too Riele." Jace says playfully while I glare at him.

"Jace take a pic of us and next time come for the whole show." Kehlani says to Jace as if she knows him.

"Whatever Lani, you better be glad I came at all." Jace says and he rolls his eyes. We stand next to each other and pose as Jace takes the pics.

"Alright it's 7:15. Dad's gonna kill me, come on Ri." Jace says and I give Kehlani one last hug. 

"Okay you two have fun and tell your dad I said hey." She says as we walk away. We out an exit that actually takes us straight to the empty lot.

"Jace Norman, I am going to murder you." I say to him once we're back in the car.

"How did you do that? How do you know her like that?" I ask Jace. He starts up the car and drives off this time though towards his house.

"I met her a few years ago, my dad took my older sister to see her perform and they met and actually became pretty good friends. Then I remembered she was going to be in town soon so I asked my sister to hook me up and she did. I knew you liked Kehlani cause I heard you singing in the shower once. You sound pretty good. If your mom asks tell her we needed to get gas and a new tire." Jace says and I just nod.

"Thank you so much, that definitely made up for everything." I say blissfully. I've never felt so happy or thankful in my life. 

"The party is actually for your mom, you know that right?" Jace tells me and I shake my head.

"What? No, why?" I ask surprised.

"It's my dad's way of saying thank you for being a good partner, without her he wouldn't have been able to go international." Jace says and I smile so widely.

"That's so cute." I say.

"It was my mom's idea. She always complains my dad isn't too thoughtful so she set it all up but she's letting him take the face for it. Don't worry, I'm not like my dad. I thought of this whole thing on my own." Jace says in reference to tonight I assume.

"Your family is probably the best thing to happen to my mom and I. Seriously Jace, thank you so much for tonight. I know this is a little late and all but-" I start but Jace takes the words right out my mouth.

"Will you be my date for tonight?" He asks me, he holds out his right hand to me and I place my left hand in it.

"Yes, yes I will." I say and Jace smiles then pulls into his driveway.

"Everyone got dropped off here, that's why there aren't too many cars." Jace says and we both get out. He lives in a really nice house, it's not a mansion but it is definitely 2 stories and wide.

"How many bedrooms is it?" I ask Jace as we walk up to his front door.

"About 8 or 9." Jace says and my jaw drops. 

"Yeah I know. Come on." Jace says and he places his arm around my back and we walk inside only to be met with tons of people all dressed up and mingling. Everyone looks amazing. 

"Just blend in and act like we've been here the whole time." Jace says as we start to walk around.

"Jace, if you want to do that give this young lady your jacket because after being in here for a while she must have gotten cold." A sweet voice says and Jace freezes in place. He turns around and so do I.

"Mom, hello." Jace says and he takes his jacket off and hands it to me. I put it on my shoulders and smile at Mrs. Norman.

"You must be Riele, I've heard such good things of you. I'm Olivia and it's so nice to meet you." The woman says as she steps closer and reaches out for a hug. I hug her and she laughs.

"It's nice to meet you too, thank you so much for doing all this." I whisper and the woman blushes.

"Don't say that too loud someone may hear but honey do tell me if your mom enjoyed herself. You are welcome here anytime dear." Olivia says and I smile.

"Mom, stop it." Jace says and I hit him lightly in the stomach.

"Boy, don't you tell me stop. This young lady is beautiful, way prettier than that horrid Fallen girl." Olivia says and I giggle.

"Oh tell me about it, I had the displeasure of meeting her." I say and Olivia laughs this time.

"Isn't she something? I'll stop gossiping but I must say you are a true catch. Don't screw up Jace." Olivia says and she glares at Jace then walks away.

"I love your mom." I say to Jace and he smiles.

"She is something, let's go find yours." Jace says and we walk around for a while just goofing off and talking before finding my mom.

"Riele honey, I was just looking for you. Hi Jace." My mom says.

"Congratulations Ms.Elle." Jace says and my mom smiles.

"Thank you, I just got done talking to your father and meeting your mother." My mom says and Jace and I share a knowing glance.

"Well now that you're both here, let's talk about Jace's next babysitting job." My mom says and just like that, we're reminded of what caused us to drift in the first place. This time though I think it clicks in Jace's head that my mom is serious about him just being my babysitter. He puts a little space between us and removes his arm from behind my back, it seems like nothing but I watch the twinkle in my mom's eye and the devilish grin on her face spread along with the relaxed mood that sets in her as he notices Jace distancing himself.
