Chapter 59 - Threatening Evidence
"Goddamn, you are one feisty little bitch!" James exclaims as he leans against the desk in front of me.
I struggle against the zip ties and they cut into my wrists. I was stuck in this chair but how badly I wanted to lunge at him and make him feel the pain I felt.
"Where is she?!" I question, gritting my teeth as I prepare myself for the worst.
"Who? The little girl?" He asks, raising an eyebrow and smiling softly at me.
I hated that smile, that coy look on his face, the way he knew just how easy it was to get under my skin.
"Tell me where she is!"
He chuckles, standing up and moving behind the desk. He takes a seat and opens one of the drawers, pulling out a small white envelope.
"Would you like to open it?" He asks, extending the envelope to me before laughing. "Oh wait, you're a little tied up at the moment."
He opens the envelope and pulls something out of it.
My stomach sinks as he sets it on the desk and slides it across towards me.
"Need a closer look?" He asks with that coy smile on his face.
A bright chunk of red hair sat on the desk, still held together with the blue hair-tie that Ahri insisted on using. Always blue for some reason, I could never figure it out but it had to be blue.
"What did you do to her?!" I growl at him.
He shrugs gently. "Everyone here has to pull their weight, but we can only have the strongest, the fastest, the smartest... the prime. She was too young, we'd have worked her to death in an hour so we just got rid of her. Clean and simple."
"There is nothing clean and simple about murder, you bastard." I sneer.
"Then maybe you've just been doing it wrong. Look, Sasha you're strong, fast, and smart. You're at your prime. Deluca needs more people like you, we want you to join us."
I spit across the desk at him. "No."
He wipes the spit from his face. "We've built something here, something big. Bigger than us."
"I said no."
He sighs, getting up from his chair and coming back to my side of the desk. "That's too bad because I was looking forward to having you on my team."
He gently grabs my chin, stroking my cheek with his fingers. Then he shakes his head and lets go of it.
"Goodbye, Sasha."
With that, he walks behind me and out the door, it slams shut behind him and all that follows is silence.
I stare across the table at the chunk of Ahri's hair.
What was next? I couldn't do anything. James Delucan had finally backed me into a corner.
