Chapter 53: Duel of Fates
Naruto held one sword in each hand, blocking Obito's pure black chakra rod and Madara's special staff. "I will not falter." He jumped into the air, the sudden removal of force sending Madara and Obito forward with Obito phasing through Madara as not to have a head-on collision with the legendary Uchiha.
"I will not fail!" Naruto shouted as the blades to his dark swords began glowing bright light green. He slammed them into the ground up to the hilt, the dirt exploding up into the air as he jumped back several meters and held up a single hand sign. "Earth Style: Deadly Dirt Tornado!" He whispered.
He quickly made a few more hand signs and blew a fireball into the dirt tornado, the dirt heating up so much that it began melting, the tornado now being a tornado of lava as Naruto continued fueling the flames.
"You are so foolish," He heard Madara's deep voice call out. In an instant, the lava tornado vanished into Madara's right palm. "The Rinnegan can absorb any jutsu. As long as it contains chakra it will not work on me."
"Damn," Naruto cursed. "I guess I'll deal with you the old fashion way then, huh?" Naruto rushed forwards, brandishing his swords and he whirled into the air, spinning as he landed several hits on Madara's staff and forced Obito to back away.
He then let go of his swords, using his Sharingan to make them float towards their target before straining his other eye, slowing time down. He quickly formed a Raikiri in hand and ran toward Madara.
"My Rinnegan surpasses your weak Mangekyou Sharingan!" Madara called out. "Your ocular prowess only works effectively over those you are stronger than. The weaker the opponent the weak your hold onto them can be. You've already tried snapping my throat, but all I feel is a pluck to the side of my neck. No pressure at all."
Naruto was about to reply before he suddenly felt a truthseeking ball slam right into his chest, forcing him back several feet. He landed on his back, the air out of his lungs. Madara sighed. "Not even the strongest shinobi alive can give me a proper dance in this form, a shame." He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"I can feel the Sage's chakra in me, I've reached a new level, a new height! I have become stronger than the Sage of Six Paths himself!" He cried out. "It's growing endlessly inside me, this power is limitless." He opened his eyes and saw Naruto standing, glaring at him. "Let's see how you measure up then, Naruto Namikaze!"
Naruto formed eight different chakra chains, the glowing chains hanging in the air around him as Naruto blinked once and Madara was already in front of him. "Futile." The man said before swinging a punch towards the dark-haired man.
However, his fist just went straight through the last Namikaze. Naruto ran through Madara and rematerialized himself as he emerged from Madara's back, his chains going backward and piercing Madara.
"I said I don't fear you," Naruto said confidently. "And now you will die." Naruto felt a presence above him and looked up, seeing Obito with both of his original eyes, or rather, Naruto's original eyes, in his eye sockets.
"You may be able to not get hit by him," Obito connected his fist to Naruto's chin. "But we both share the Kamui dimension." Obito then pushed his hand forward, a blast of air sending Naruto backward several yards, disconnecting the chains that were holding Madara in place.
"Don't be an obstacle, Obito-nii," Naruto whispered quietly. "Let me save you." Obito shook his head and formed two hand seals.
"I'm not the one who has diverged off the path of righteousness. Fire Style: Spiraling Flame Jutsu!" A spiraling flame hurled towards Naruto, each ring getting bigger as it made its way towards the Namikaze.
Naruto took a deep breath, feeling the invisible water molecules in the air, and formed seven hand seals in just a second before exhaling. "Water Style: Dual Water Dragons!" Two large dragons made of water came from the air on either side of Naruto and rushed forward, meeting Obito's fire jutsu and crashing into it, causing steam to cover the area.
Naruto jumped in the air, a truthseeking orb passing underneath him. He looked through the mist, his Sharingan blazing, and saw Madara's Rinnegan eyes meeting his, a smirk plastered on the man's face.
"You will die here." Madara mouthed before the five truthseeking orbs behind him shot forward. Naruto cursed and quickly formed his Susanoo and unsheathed the chakra sword at his hip, attempting to swipe the orbs out of the air but he was too slow.
The truthseeking orbs crashed into his Susanoo, cracking the armor and skeleton of his armor, Naruto's eyes widened as blood spurted from his mouth, his Susanoo disappearing and him falling to the ground, tumbling unceremoniously.
"You are the last obstacle in my path, Naruto Namikaze." Madara spoke aloud. "I will savor the smell your blood will bring to my nose, no doubt it not being a smell many have embraced."
". . ." Obito stood silently next to Madara, gazing at Naruto like a pitiful subject. Madara saw Obito's gaze.
"You can speak to him if you'd like." His deep voice rumbled gently. Obito glanced at Madara and took a step forward, only to stop as Kushina jumped in front of Naruto's body.
"Don't touch my baby boy!" She cried out, four chakra chains hovering in the air menacingly, like snakes.
"Move aside, woman." Obito spat out. A swirling vortex appeared around Kushina, sucking her into the Kamui dimension.
"Kushina-chan!" Minato shouted, ready to rush in, but was stopped as Madara flashed in front of him.
"I wouldn't," He said in a warning tone. "Or else your son dies." Minato grit his teeth, anger coursing through his undead body, but he reeled himself back in and calmed down.
"Naruto," Obito spoke. "Why? Why would you turn back now? What do you gain from siding with these fakes? What happens if you win, your sins still exist. You think this world will accept you?" Naruto froze, his blue eyes looking up at the midnight sky, a mist clouding them.
Obito laughed. "After what you've done, after everything, you think they would just let you back into the Hidden Leaf with no repercussions? You started this war with me, Naruto! Just like shinobi do, the moment you drop your blade in victory they will point their own at your throat! They are not your true allies, they're using you! Like a pawn in a chess game, you're only a piece that they use as a sacrifice. You mean nothing to them, the only ones who truly love you are already dead!
"Whatever this world held for you when I found you, whatever remained in your sad and pathetic life, is gone now. You have nothing, you are nothing to them!" He reached out a hand. "But not to me. You're my little brother, Naruto. We can still be allies and bring this world of hate down and create a world of love and prosperity."
"Be quiet!" Sasuke shouted. "You know nothing!" Sasuke looked down at Naruto. "There is still hope, sensei! You made mistakes, and you can atone!"
"To them your atonement is death!" Obito roared, stretching out his other hand and grabbing Sasuke by the throat with his telekinesis ability. "You are just a weapon, just a monster! You are a means to an end for them! What would have happened if Sakura wasn't murdered? Or Anko? You would still be used to fight wars this corrupt system creates! This world is wrong, I know you see through the lies of this reality just as I did, just as I do."
"Grrgh," Sasuke croaked out, grasping his neck. "S-Sensei please!"
"Don't touch him!" Itachi shouted, throwing several shuriken at Obito, who merely smirked as the blades passed straight through him. "Damn it!" He cried out as he futilely watched Sasuke struggle for air.
"Naruto!" Shisui cried out. "Don't let him kill Sasuke!" Naruto turned his head to the side, frowning as he watched Sasuke's feet kick out, struggling in vain.
"Are you just going to let them kill the guy I liked?" A female voice rang out. "I thought you liked Sasuke, dad." Naruto's eyes widened as he suddenly wasn't on the battlefield, but in a blank mindscape devoid of everything but the color white. "Dad? Are ya listening?"
Naruto turned his head to the side and saw Sakura frowning at him. "Quit being an ass and go save Sasuke-kun!"
"You're. . ." He whispered in disbelief.
"I'm dead," Sakura stated in a definite tone. "But that doesn't mean you can just go crazy. You're only hurting everyone you've sworn to protect." Naruto closed his eyes, tears streaming down his face.
"You're not real," He choked out. "I let you die."
"I died because of my failure," Sakura shouted, shocking Naruto. "I died because I was weak! I died because this system is wrong! You didn't let me die don't be arrogant and think everything is up to you!"
"It should be!" Naruto shouted, standing up and glaring at Sakura. "I promised I'd be a god so I could end wars with a thought!"
"Then do it instead of just saying it!" Sakura cried out. "You're the reincarnation of the Sage of Six Path's sons! If anyone could reach any power it'd be you! So stop complaining about a broken world and then doing nothing to fix it!"
"Because an illusion is not bringing peace," Anko whispered in Naruto's ear. "It is destroying the possibilities for peace. You and only you can bring true peace to this world! There will still be hardship ahead, heartache, and loss ahead, but that's how you grow! You have to make a new world, that's true, but you need to be able to breathe the air of the new world instead of the fakeness of the illusion Obito wants!"
"I'll stop it!" Naruto shouted, Sakura and Anko shattered to the white floor he stood on. His bright blue eyes narrowed at the nothingness and activated his Sharingan.
He opened his eyes in the real world and in a split second got up and shoved his fist straight through Obito's stomach. Obito's eyes widened as his grip on Sasuke was vanquished, Sasuke's body falling to the ground, his chest moving up and down.
"I will shape my own destiny," Naruto whispered. He took his arm out of Obito's chest, flipping around in the air, he planted his heel straight into Obito's cheek, causing the white-haired man to fly several yards away.
Naruto wiped the blood from his chin away, it staining slightly as he smirked. "I'm sorry, Madara. I agree with you, this world is wrong. The shinobi system is corrupt. But an illusion will not save this world, it will bring it to ruin. I will create a new world, a cleaner world, but it will not be an illusion. It will be one everyone can breathe in and feel the air hit your lungs! I will not let you destroy this world before I can fix it!"
"I see," Madara muttered, turning away from Minato. "Then while our thoughts are similar, our ideals for a perfect world differ." Madara raised a single hand. Minato froze, his orange Kyuubi-enhanced eyes widening. "But that does not mean your ideal will prevail."
A red chakra slowly seeped out of Minato's chest, meeting Madara's hands as it was absorbed in his palm. Minato's orange eyes disappeared, turning back to their original bright blue as Madara took a deep breath, absorbing the rest of the Kyuubi's chakra.
"There, I've finally reached completion that Obito failed to do before." Obito stood up, gaping as power radiated off of Madara. "And now, with the Ten-Tails complete inside of me," He raised his arm, a single finger pointing at Naruto. "Our ideals will clash, but now, you will die!"
Naruto was about to speak, but a burst of light shot towards Naruto, piercing the dark-haired man's chest and piercing his heart. As Naruto fell to the ground, Madara appeared in front of him and used two truthseeking orbs to extend into large chakra rods before he manipulated them into four small chakra rods.
He pushed his hand down, the chakra rods pierced Naruto's chest and Naruto coughed up blood, his breathing ragged. "I've punctured both of your lungs, pierced your heart, and have scrambled your internal organs. Not even Hashirama could survive that." He whispered before turning away.
"Naruto-sensei!" Sasuke shouted as he scrambled across the battlefield, approaching Naruto who's bright blue eyes had a small haze over him. He bent down, tears welling up in his eyes as he looked down, straining his ears to listen for even the softest of sounds.
He heard nothing come from Naruto.
Sasuke stood up, the tears crawling down his face and to the dirt below. "He's dead. . ." He whispered. A collective gasp was heard as even Hiruzen, who was stuck to the ground, frowned sadly.
"Naruto Namikaze is dead," Madara shouted, flying up into the air. "And now, you will all fade from this reality!"
And done. How was it? Good? Bad? Rushed? Maybe? ye
Til next time my lil demons!
