Chapter 25: Blend
"Am I not enough for you?!" A voice cried as Naruto turned in bed, sweat dripping off of his entire figure.
"Please don't leave me!" A woman's voice whispered.
"Stop this! This isn't you!" A man's voice this time rang out.
"Oh, it's not me? Then who am I?" Came a sick and sarcastic reply.
"How can I protect you if I can't even protect them?!" A shout.
"You are not a god!"
"I will avenge my friend's death, even if it takes my life!"
"I'll be the one doing that if you don't mind!"
"I HATE YOU!"
Naruto woke up, a thin layer of sweat coming off of his body as he panted heavily. What was that dream?
No, dreams had images, those were voices, things he could hear, why? What was the point? Nothing they said made sense! Naruto looked over at the alarm clock and groaned, realizing that it was barely five a.m., and his alarm was set to off in about twenty minutes.
He got up, making sure to turn off the alarm before it went off. He got dressed and walked out. He saw a bright blue light glowing from the living room and rose an eyebrow. Had he left the t.v. on?
He walked into the living room and almost jumped in surprise as he saw Sakura whispering softly into a headset as she was playing his game, and she was quite good at it.
He watched her play for another minute before walking into the kitchen and setting the kettle on the stove to boil the water it contained. Apparently, he had made a lot of noise because when he walked back into the living room Sakura was pretending to be asleep, the controller still in her hand.
"You know I'm a Jounin, right?" He said in an amused voice. "I can hear your heart beating quicker than your average sleeping heartbeat?" Sakura's emerald green eyes widened as she looked up at him with shock.
"Really? That's so cool!"
"Nope, I saw you playing like two minutes ago, I'm not an Inuzuka, I don't have special hearing." Sakura giggled for a second before looking back at her game.
"Good, now I gotta get back to my game, my teammates need me." Naruto rolled his eyes.
"Okay okay, but make sure you tell Sai and Sasuke about today and tomorrow, I'm on a mission with the other senseis so I'ma be gone for a little bit." Sakura nodded, indicating that she had indeed heard him. Naruto gave her two pats on the head before going back into the kitchen to finish making his tea.
He poured the steaming mixture into a mug before sighing. It smelled delicious, but he knew that if he sipped it now, he would burn his tongue.
Maybe just a sip. . .
Nope, don't do it! Not worth it! He thought to himself, shaking his head with a small smile. He opened the door and walked out, the fresh autumn air filling his nose as a content smile crossed his face. Closing the door behind himself, he walked down the steps and into the empty streets of Konoha.
Well, almost empty.
"Well if it isn't my favorite closet-psycho!" Anko pretty much yelled as she wrapped her arms around his neck, her chin resting on his shoulder as she grinned.
"What does that mean?" Naruto asked as he flicked her forehead with his free hand, somehow still balancing his tea well enough as to where it didn't spill.
"Mah mah, don't gotta get all feisty with me," She groaned, sliding off of his back. "So whatcha doing out here so early? You hate getting up this early." She noted.
"Ah yes, I have a mission. What about you?" Anko grinned.
"Me too! Maybe we're on the same mission!" Naruto groaned audibly, earning himself a swift punch courtesy of Anko. "You ass! You love going on missions with me!" Naruto felt his eyes roll.
"Not really, you always need saving," Anko growled at him.
"Are you calling me weak?"
"No, but I am calling you dumb." Another punch.
"That's no way to woo a woman you know!" She said as she crossed her arms under her busts, lifting them up slightly. Naruto didn't even spare them a glance.
"Good thing I'm not talking to a woman then, huh?" Anko glared murderously at him as to which he took a couple of steps away from her, holding his free arm in the air, surrendering. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding," He laughed as he watched her pout.
"Besides, the chances of you and I being on a mission together are quite low, my mission is a mission for the four sensei." Anko rose a single eyebrow.
"Oh, so you're gonna try and work the moves with Nai-chan huh? I've heard you've gotten some competition from Asuma, she's been all blushy blushy with him from what I've heard." Naruto laughed a little.
"Oh well, good on them." Anko frowned, wanting to hear a jealous or even an angry reaction out of him, but she got a content smile.
"Oh? You're fine with that? Okie," They walked in silence till they reached the Hokage Office where they just walked in.
"Reporting for duty, Hokage-sama." Naruto and Anko said in unison. Hiruzen looked at them both with an appraising look.
"Ah good," Naruto saw Kurenai sitting on a chair. He sent her a smile and a nod which she returned as she stood up.
"Where are Guy and Asuma?" She asked the Hokage politely. "It isn't like them to be late." Naruto agreed with her.
"Well, Guy and Asuma have seemingly caught a virus from eating at the Akimichi Barbeque with their students, but luckily their students are unaffected, it seemed to only affect the adults. A different kind of food poisoning would be my guess."
"So now they're unable to join our little crusade?" Naruto joked with a little laugh. "How unfortunate, does that mean I get to go back to sleep?" Hiruzen laughed.
"Of course not! You have a replacement with you at this very second!" Naruto looked over at Anko, meeting her eyes as she held a cheeky grin.
"You knew this didn't you?" He asked plainly.
"Of course I did, why do ya think I didn't tell you?" Naruto didn't respond he just looked back at Hiruzen.
"Who's our other replacement?"
"Well, I was going to get Kakashi to go with you, but he refused, so sadly, you only have three members." Naruto's eyes widened.
"What's wrong, Naruto? Why are you red? Don't tell me you went to that Barbeque too?" Anko asked a tad bit too innocently.
"Nope, just slightly saddened that Kaka-nii won't be joining us, but that's fine. Old man," He began, his original tan face returning to its normal color. "What's our mission?"
"It's quite simple really," Hiruzen began as he looked at a piece of paper on his desk. "You three are to go investigate the border between Rice Country and Fire Country, we have reports of some skirmishes going on there, including multiple kidnappings, as well as people reporting hearing almost inhumane screaming. Your mission is to go investigate and see what's going on, you have any authorization you need, just go see what's going on."
"Okie dokie, we're all on it, I'm assuming I'm in charge, right?" Anko said as she wrapped an arm around Naruto. "We both know he needs to be kept in line."
"Quite the opposite, Anko," Kurenai said, hiding a small smile by placing her hand on her mouth as if she were coughing. Naruto cracked a smile and Hiruzen chuckled.
"You guys are all asses, all due respect, Hokage-sama."
"No no, you're fine, Anko. I like my shinobi being familiar with me," He said, waving her off. "Naruto has been calling me an old man for the longest time now."
"Not the nicest of things to say to the strongest shinobi in the village," Kurenai muttered.
"Well, it's not like he's aging backward, and he's old so ha!" Naruto said, childishly sticking out his tongue at the red-eyed woman.
"Well, it is indeed not the nicest thing to say to my authority, I allow it because it's humbling, and besides, I am not the strongest shinobi in the village." Kurenai rose an eyebrow.
"I'm not sure I'm following you, Hokage-sama," Kurenai said in a skeptical voice while Anko started getting all giddy and hitting Naruto on the chests repeatedly.
"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, he's talking about you!" She shouted as she punched his shoulder. "You bastard! You got all strong without me!" Kurenai's eyes widened.
"Wait, are you saying Naruto is the strongest shinobi in the village?" She asked, her voice filled with a flabbergasted tone.
"I am," Hiruzen confirmed. "Naruto has been stronger than me for a little bit longer than a year now, and he's still growing amazingly enough."
"Don't flatter me, old man," Naruto said with a good-humored growl. "I'd still struggle to beat you in a one on one, you're way more experienced than I am." Hiruzen chuckled.
"That may be, but sometimes experience can be outweighed by sheer strength, and you are about as tactically-smart as I am if I were to guess." Naruto was blushing from embarrassment. "But we're not here to brag about anybody's abilities. You have an indefinite timeline, so I suggest you hurry if you plan on training your Genin one on one again."
"Okay guys, let's get started." Naruto began before he saw a hint of the sun rising. "Let's get there by noon, I don't wanna be gone for longer than three days if that's alright with you both?"
"Fine with me," Kurenai said with a smirk.
"And here I thought you wanted some alone time with two beautiful women?" Anko said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Naruto's eyes closed as he fought the urge to hit Anko on the head, a healthy blush on his cheeks.
"J-Just get ready and meet me at the front gates, dumbass." Then he vanished in thin air, leaving Anko and Kurenai in the room with Hiruzen, who was laughing at Naruto's plight.
"Ah, that boy will never cease to humor me, you three are quite the team. Good luck on your mission." Kurenai and Anko bowed.
"Thank you, Hokage-sama."
Naruto kicked open a door as he strolled into a slightly disorganized house. "Kaka-nii! I need you to do a favor for me!" A groan could be heard from the Copy Ninja's bedroom. Naruto opened the door and saw Kakashi Hatake upside down in his bed, his eyes closed as he slept peacefully.
"Kaka-nii!" Naruto yelled loudly as he flicked the man on the forehead, the Hatake's eyes flying open. "Can ya do me a favor for like three days?" Kakashi yawned.
"Like?"
"Can you train my students while I'm gone? I have a mission and can't be here to do it, you won't let me down will you?"
"Who are they again?" Naruto facepalmed.
"Sakura Haruno, she lives with me now but that's a conversation for later, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sai." He handed him a piece of paper explaining their strengths and weaknesses as well as their addresses and personal info and whatnot.
"Oh, great. I'm parenting another brat?"
"You never parented me, Kaka-nii!" Naruto said as he laughed. "Anyway, I gotta go, I'll buy you the next Icha-Icha books when they come out for this! I appreciate you!" He yelled before leaving. Kakashi yawned and closed his eyes.
"I'll train them, but I'll do it my way." He yawned again before covering himself up with the covers. "That's right Kakashi, you're gonna fuck them kids up with your training."
And done. How was it? Good? Bad? Tell me!
Anyway, yeah. I know plot doesn't really go on here but I wanna flesh out the story a bit and give Naruto interactions with everybody including when he's all grown up. Guys...
I'm not even half way done.
This story will be my masterpiece. I'm telling you all now. yes.
Anyways yep.
Til next time my lil demons!
