Chapter 21: Sparring

Naruto stood in front of his three Genin, a grin on his face while they just looked at him with blank faces, obviously exhausted from being up since four a.m., though Sai and Sasuke looked less tired than Sakura, who had purple bags under her eyes.

This made Naruto suspicious of what else she had been doing after he training, but in the end, as long as she wasn't endangering herself, it wasn't really his business.

"Today we will be sparring with Team 8, Team 9, and Team 10 respectively!"

"That explains why the other sensei are here," Sakura said with a yawn. "But why do we have to spar? We've barely been Genin for two weeks, how much could we have improved?" Naruto laughed.

"Oh my young and adorable Genin, I don't mean fight them, you're all going to fight me!" Sai had an involuntary shiver run down his back. He knew Naruto Namikaze well, a lot more than Naruto thought he knew him.

Sai was part of Danzo's Foundation, the ROOT Anbu.

Four years ago, Naruto Namikaze slaughtered four of their ROOT Anbu, and ten of Ame's Anbu and the only hint they had was broken necks with internal choke methods, making it seem as if Naruto had not even touched the Anbu.

He remembered what Danzo-sama had said to him before he was assigned to this team.

Flashback

"Sai," Danzo called for him, a rare occurrence, but a welcome one. Sai approached the old man, bowing.

"Yes, Danzo-sama?"

"You will be assigned under Naruto Namikaze's Genin team, you will observe him as well as Sasuke Uchiha and report back to me if anything significant is to happen."

"What shall I be looking for?" Sai asked, his head still facing the ground.

"Try and find his strength, he's an anomaly. We never see him train, nor do we know how far his Sharingan has possed or his Chakra Chains, he is an unknown and could one day threaten the village. Report to me how strong he is."

"And who should I compare him to in order of strength? He had been a Jounin since he was ten-years-old." Danzo was quiet for a moment.

"Madara. . . Uchiha." He finished in a small whisper. "Start with that first as a measuring tool, and if he seems to be stronger, then go to Hashirama, and if he's stronger than that. . ." He trailed off, lost in thought now.

"At once, Danzo-sama!"

Flashback End

'Madara Uchiha level hm? Well, at least we can all see him in action, though it may not be fair due to us all being Genin." He thought

"Sensei," A girl with two buns on top of her head started, looking at Might Guy. "What do you mean we're going to be fighting with the other teams and go against him? He doesn't look too strong to me. . ." A bead of sweat dropped from Naruto's head.

"Him vs. the twelve of us? It doesn't seem fair to him at all." Neji Hyuga said confidently, crossing his arms.

"Don't underestimate young Naruto!" Guy said, giving them a thumbs up and flashing a bright grin that sparkled as bright as the sun. "He became a Jounin when he was just ten-years-old! He's pretty strong!"

"Uh, why do we have to fight this guy? Such a drag!" Shikamaru whined. Asuma felt a headache coming along with his lazy team.

"Because you must learn how to beat a superior opponent while working with different teams," Naruto began, gathering everyone's attention. "Your sensei will be allowed to help you verbally, but not physically. You will have to communicate and work as a team to even have a chance to beat me."

"Sounds easy enough, right Akamaru?" Kiba said, palming his fist while the dog on his head gave an affirmative bark.

"Now that's the thing I like to see!" Naruto yelled with a grin as he took off his black cloak, revealing his long-sleeved blue shirt with slightly darker blue pants, a thin red line separating the shirt and pants. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Anko get your ass out here!"

Anko hopped out of a nearby tree, her arms over her bust as she glared at Naruto.

"Ruining my fun, what do you want?"

"What percentage should I use? Five? Ten percent?" Anko shrugged.

"Kill the kids for all I care, but if you just want to humiliate them," She grinned devilishly. "Then go ten percent."

"Uh," Tenten rose her hand. "What does ten percent mean?"

"I also wish to know," Shino Aburame said stoically.

"Jeez, what's up with creepy kids nowadays?" Naruto questioned before his right index finger cracked under the pressure of his left hand. "Welp, if you must know, I shall only use ten percent of my full power for this sparring match! It'll be great for all of you!"

"Only ten percent?" Neji questioned, slightly miffed. "Don't underestimate us just because we're Genin."

"Neji!" Guy warned only for Naruto to begin talking.

"Ah, you must be that 'genius' the Hyuga keep bragging about at the Clan meetings, weird, you don't seem like a lot," Naruto said. "Maybe I should lower it to five percent? I mean, ten percent does seem a bit much." Neji glared freely at Naruto.

"Woah, what happened to the positive ten-year-old I knew before I left?" Asuma said as he wrapped his arm around Naruto's shoulder. "All cocky now, huh?" Naruto grinned sheepishly.

"Things change my friend, a lot has happened these last eight years," Naruto said with a small smile, a twinge of sadness in his voice. "But we can either run from the past or learn from it, I learned that from Lion King!"

"Why do you keep referencing movies?" Kurenai asked with a small smile on her face. "First it's Star Wars, then a weird show called The Office? And now this? Jeez, you're a handful!"

"And from what it seems a mouthful," Anko said causing everyone's eyes to widen considerably as they shifted their gaze to her, including Naruto who was beet red.

"Ex fucking scuse me? I am not an object!" He said sassily as he took several steps away from her. "I feel violated, Asuma help me!" (Why do I feel as if I had written this scene before? Weird.)

"Wait, so you and Naruto-sensei are," Sakura gestured to two fingers poking each other. "Together?" Anko shook her head.

"No, I just accidentally walked into the male section of the hot springs and Naruto was standing up and such and I saw the," She coughed, her cheeks dusted with red. "The package."

"STOP MOLESTING ME WITH YOUR THOUGHTS!" Naruto said as he hid behind Asuma. "I can see the blood coming out of your nose! It's gross!"

"Oh shut up you, virgin!" Anko yelled, laughing as Naruto went pale as he took several steps away from Asuma.

"No, you shut up you're a virgin too!" This time Naruto laughed as she turned red.

"Children, the both of them," Asuma commented with Kurenai standing next to him.

"They just need to get together already," Kurenai spoke honestly. "If she doesn't someone else might."

"Do you mean yourself?" Kurenai was suddenly as red as her eyes.

"O-Of course not, idiot." She stalked away, leaving Asuma chuckling.

"Okay children," Naruto began as a single gust of wind erupted from him, the ground cracking slightly. "It's ten percent time, come at me with the intent or kill," They were suddenly hit with a blast of killing intent, causing them to shrink in fear and horror as they saw Naruto grin maliciously. "Or you will never beat me!"

"T-This is ten percent?" Ino said, swallowing the saliva in her mouth. "This is impossible."

"Fate will declare us the winner!" Neji shouted as he charged Naruto, only to stop as he suddenly found himself staring into the bright blue eyes that belonged to the Namikaze, but he didn't feel the joyfulness of the blue, no, he felt cold.

Why did he suddenly feel cold? As if death had gripped his heart?

Cold. . .

"What's wrong, Neji? Scared of a real genius?" A voice whispered in his ear before everything stopped as he suddenly got kicked across the ground, causing the dirt to go into the air, clouding his body.

"Meh, c'mon everybody, work together or else this entire exercise is pointless." Naruto said in a disappointed tone. "Just, work it out for a second, no need to rush. But an enemy ninja would not let you have a second to think."

"Shikamaru!" Sasuke shouted, taking command as his coal-colored eyes met Naruto's bright blue, a determined look in them. "Restrict him with your shadow! Choji, use your Expansion Jutsu and clobber him! Ino, take control over his mind so he can't resist!"

"Itachi. . ." Naruto whispered to himself in a low voice before his eyes widened. "Wait don't Ino!" But it was too late, Ino was already in his head.

Ino was in a very dark sewer-like area. The water she was stepping in was red. Wait, red water? She slowly went to touch it, only for it to stain the tips of her fingers and she took a step back. She was ankle-deep in blood, not water!

She had been in her father's mindscape as well as several of her cousins along with Shikamaru and Choji and they all were bright and okay, why was this one different?

Naruto Namikaze was one of the brightest people she has seen or known, always wearing a grin on his face, so why was his mindscape like this?

"H-Help, me!" She felt her blood freeze as she turned around and saw the source of all the blood.

A pile of bodies. All of them had several cuts and pierced skulls with kunai and shuriken littering their bodies. All of them were dead except for one, which was shifting and moving uncontrollably as if they were being shocked by lightning.

The alive on was shaking on top of the rest of the bodies, a huge hole in his chest like he had been pierced by a telephone pole. He had no eyes, but blood was coming out of where the empty sockets were like someone had decided to stab a bottle of ketchup with a kunai.

He looked like a more mature version of Sasuke! The boy's mouth opened impossibly wide, no color belong in the mouth, it was as if someone had put a void where his mouth was supposed to be.

"YOU KILLED ME!" The mouth screamed before a high pitch scream came from the boy before she found herself back in her body, unable to stand up as she sat on top of the grass, out of breath.

"What did you see?!" Naruto shouted in an alarmed tone, breaking Shikamaru's shadow in an instant and jumping over Choji's ball of fury and landing gracefully on his feet.

He then took a step back as Kiba, who was doing the signature Wolf Fang Fist from the Inuzuka Clan along with his companion, Akamaru. Dodging that, he suddenly flashed away as a hive of insects tried landing on him, but they all failed.

Sasuke took a step back as Naruto suddenly appeared in front of him and tapped him on the head before he flashed to everyone else and did the same thing to everyone else except Ino before Sasuke could even blink.

He then appeared in front of them all without a second passing before snapping his fingers and they all suddenly found their backs against each other in a very tight circle, unable to move.

"You fail. All of you," He walked up to Ino and looked at Asuma. "I'm going to borrow her for a second if you don't mind," Asuma shrugged before Naruto vanished along with her.

"I wonder what she saw in his mind." Asuma wondered aloud.

"Nothing good I can assure you that," Kurenai said. "But I do wonder why he was so worried. Maybe he has some 'demons' he doesn't want her to know about."

"I'm not even sure if I like that pun or not," Anko commented honestly. "But can I torture the kids while he's gone? You guys don't have morals do you?" Everyone paled at Anko's suggestion.

Naruto and Ino appeared on the Hokage Mountain, sitting on top of Hashirama Senju's stone head. "I need to know what you saw immediately." Ino looked at him with wide and confused eyes.

"A-All I saw was blood and a pile of dead bodies I swear!" Naruto paled as he ran a hand through his golden hair, sighing heavily.

"Okay, please don't tell anybody about this." Ino looked reluctant for a second before nodding. Naruto bowed. "Thank you very much, Ino. The fact that you even got to look into my head shows how strong you will become. You have a lot of potential," He grinned. "Don't let your lazy teammates hold ya down!"

Ino's lips perked up as she smiled softly.

"Thank you, Naruto-sensei." Naruto patted her on the head before he and her flash back onto the Training Ground where the rest of the Genin had been released.

"So you see how easy it was for me to dispatch you? If I wanted to, you'd all be dead. Only five people tried to actually do something while working as a team, that would be Ino, Shikamaru, Choji, Kiba, and Sasuke! The rest of you just stood around with you thumbs up your asses! Next time I won't be so nice and I'll fight back."

Naruto then flashed them a peace sign. "But whatever, see you all next week, Team 7, we have a morning filled with training tomorrow, I expect to see you there." And with that, he was gone.

"I don't like him," Tenten spoke aloud. "He's too bright to be that strong." Guy laughed at the girl.

"Tenten, sometimes you bust something open in order to get to the good stuff!" He said in a loud voice.

"Like a nut?" Anko suggested helpfully, making Guy's grin go further while Kurenai and Asuma suddenly blushed.

"Yes! Like busting a nut! You must-" He was interrupted when Kiba began laughing while Tenten blushed furiously. This confused Guy. "What is so funny?"

"Guy," Asuma gestured for the green-clad man to approach him. Guy walked over to Asuma who leaned in his ear and whispered a few things before he turned bright red as well.

"Anko how dare you make me say such vile words, it is quite inappropriate for such young children!" Anko shrugged, a devilish grin plastered on her face.

"I didn't think you'd actually say it in all honesty, but whatever. I'll see you turds around some time, see ya!" And she left the training ground leaving a bunch of preteens bright red except for Neji or Sasuke, who didn't care for such things, and Rock Lee, who just didn't understand.

"I'm confused, Guy-sensei!" Lee began. "What does she mean?" Tenten hit him in the head.

"Don't worry about it, jeez you're hopeless!"

"I'm going to kill you all," Naruto said in a plain voice as he stared blankly at the screen. "Every last one of you is going to die, and there's nothing you can do to stop my fury." He smashed some more buttons before the red screen indicating his death appeared on his T.V., causing him to sink further into his couch. "Damn, I can't beat this level."

He tossed his controller next to him and sighed. He was bored.

Bored of everything. Sure, having a Genin Team was nice and all, but he was just, bored. He had nothing to do but play video games and work. He was supposed to be having fun! Why couldn't he have fun anymore?

Why was there such a lack of. . . joy? A lack of happiness?

Ah, nevermind. He knew why.

He was depressed, a diagnosis that Inoichi Yamanaka had given him after several therapy sessions with the Yamanaka after Itachi's death. After everyone's death.

He had lost everyone. All except two people that he knew since he was ten were dead.

Asuma Sarutobi and Kakashi Hatake. They were alive. He had them.

But they brought painful memories. Memories that he could not forget, for if he forgot them then he would not be the man he was today and if he was not the man he was today then he would not one day bring peace to this world and that meant he would not become the god he sought to be which means that all the suffering Naruto had been through was for naught.

He would not let it be for naught.

Naruto got up and vanished into the air, not leaving a single trace that he had been there other than the T.V. still being on.

Naruto stepped onto the grassy fields, the light the moon gave off providing enough light for him to see the names of those who had sacrificed their lives in the name of Konoha.

"Obito, Rin, mother, father, Shisui-sensei, Izumi, Itachi, Fugaku, Mikoto," He whispered the names of those he had once loved. All were gone. Why? Why did they have to leave him? It was unfair that he lost the ones he had loved dearly.

What was the point of peace if he couldn't even enjoy it with those he had promised it to when he was a child?

"I will become a god," Naruto whispered, his hand resting on the cold stone, a shiver running through his body. "I will bring peace to this messed up world and I will correct it."

"I promise."

Four Years Ago, with Obito Uchiha

Obito seethed as he looked at the picture that Zetsu had provided for him. It was Naruto holding a dead Itachi, a new Mangeykou Sharingan in his eyes. Why? Why did Naruto contain those eyes?

"Your innocence," Obito whispered as he put a finger onto the blonde's face of the picture. "It's gone. Why? Why is your innocence tainted?" A tear ran down Obito's face. Had he done this? Had he made Naruto suffer so much?

"I just want to protect you." He sighed before the picture turned into flames, his Sharingan twisting into its Mangeykou form. "And I will not fail to save the person I care about again."

And done. How was it? Good? Bad? Tell me!

Anyways, yeah.

Til next time my lil demons!
