Chapter 2: Friend
"Thanks a lot, Naruto!" Ayato exclaimed as he successfully hit the center of the target with a kunai. Naruto smiled at the older boy.
"No problem, Ayato-kun." He said cheerfully as he went to help other students practice throwing kunai, having completed this step two and a half years ago, and now he would help the sensei in tutoring the academy children.
"Hey, Naruto," A boy named Iruka called, grinning as he held his hands behind his back. He had tan skin with a cut on the bridge of his nose that extended to his cheeks, his brown hair in a messy bun on the back of his head. "Can you come help me with my Shuriken?" Naruto pointed at Itachi, who was currently walking towards Iruka.
"I have to help Mizuki-kun, but Itachi will help you." Iruka looked slightly disappointed. Sure, Itachi was a great tutor as well, but the boy always unnerved Iruka, unlike Naruto who always smiled, so positive and cheerful. Nobody disliked Naruto, he was a bright shining light.
They would be sad when Naruto and Itachi would graduate today without them, along with another girl who Itachi was acquainted with, Izumi Uchiha.
Naruto, who was eight-years-old, was just about four feet tall, slightly smaller than the rest of his older classmates, who were older by a year, but the presence he brought was incredible. With a single smile, or even a look, the whole class would quiet and listen, and then Naruto would say something sappy, but positive and wise.
"I don't get it," Mizuki growled, his kunai have been bouncing off the target as if they were dull, but he had sharpened them the night before! There was no way they'd be dull already! Naruto saw Mizuki's kunai and held out his hand.
"May I?" He asked politely. Mizuki nodded, grateful that the class prodigy would be helping him. Naruto took hold of the kunai, observing it for a second before speaking. "It's dull. It's possible that if you threw it with more force it would stick, but that would decrease your accuracy. Have you been sharpening your kunai, Mizuki-kun?" Mizuki nodded vigorously.
"Every night!" Naruto nodded.
"Ah, so that's the problem. You can't over sharpen a tool, that'll just make it run out of its durability faster. Sharpen it once a week, or maybe once every two weeks depending on how much you use it." He grabbed a kunai from his pouch and handed it to Mizuki, who grabbed hold of the handle carefully as if he held a sacred object in his hands. "Try throwing it now," Mizuki nodded as he took aim.
He hurled the kunai towards the target and it hit smack in the middle, a bullseye. He cheered a little as it stuck, causing Naruto's smile to grow bigger.
"Good job, Mizuki-kun," Naruto said, patting the boy on the shoulder. Mizuki grinned at him, obviously proud of himself.
"I'll surpass you one day, Naruto!" He said with excitement, Naruto nodded, his smile never diminishing.
"I'm sure you will, Mizuki-kun." Naruto felt a small tap on his shoulder. He turned around and looked up, seeing his sensei.
"Oh, hello Kasami-sensei, is it time already?" Kasami nodded, a sad, yet proud smile on her face as she watched as Itachi and Izumi approached Naruto on either side of him.
"I'm afraid so, Hokage-sama wishes to give you your sensei now. I heard he's quite strong," Naruto grinned.
"Well, thank you for teaching us all you know, Kasami-sensei!" Naruto shouted as the three bowed in unison, making Kasami chuckle in embarrassment.
"Oh stop, you're making me blush," She said quietly as she pushed the glasses further on her face. "Now go see the Hokage, and make you sure you visit us every once and awhile." Naruto, Itachi, and Izumi nodded.
"Of course sensei," Itachi spoke calmly. "We'll visit as often as we can," Kasami smiled at the young Uchiha.
"Good, now get going before you're late!" The three bowed again before they began walking towards the Hokage's Building, chatting amongst themselves as they did so.
"What do you think the real test is going to be?" Izumi Uchiha asked her two friends. "I mean, the Replacement Jutsu, Clone Jutsu, and Transformation Jutsu couldn't have been the test, right?" Naruto nodded.
"You're right. Those are just the prerequisites most Genin need to be able to take the actual test. Our test is most likely something that is given to us by our assigned sensei, though, I doubt it's anything we can't get through." Itachi let a tiny, amused smile come across his face; but remained silent.
The trio walked into the Hokage's Office, where they were greeted by Hiruzen Sarutobi, who was smoking on his pipe as he noticed the three new Genin walk in.
"Come on in," He invited them politely, putting the pipe down. "I'm not going to give you a speech on how important being a Genin is, you already know that, or else you wouldn't be here." Silence was his response, making him continue. "So, that being said. Congratulations on becoming the youngest team to graduate the academy. I'm sure you're waiting in anticipation for you sensei, so here he is."
A blur flickered right in front of them before a tall man appeared, wearing black clothes with light brown armor on his torso. He wore the Leaf headband around his forehead and had black spiky hair, his eyes a dark grey. He also had an Uchiha Clan symbol on his back.
"Wassup guys, my name is Shisui Uchiha, you may already have heard of me," He said, looking at both Izumi's and Itachi's amazed gazes. "Or you may not have," This time he looked at Naruto's grinning face.
"I've heard of you," Answered Naruto, causing Shisui to raise an eyebrow.
"Oh, you have, have you?" He asked rhetorically as he placed a held out his hand. "We'll discuss that in a second, the three of you, touch my hand." The three did as they were instructed before they vanished from the office, leaving Hiruzen to himself.
They suddenly appeared in a field that was covered with grass that was knee-deep, causing the three newly minted Genin to step around weirdly, unused to the situation. Shisui grinned.
"Well, let's begin with our introductions. I'll go first to set the example," He grabbed the small sword off his back and swiped at the grass, cutting it cleanly in one swoop as he sat down, crossing his legs as his new students stood before him.
"My name is Shisui Uchiha, I like a lot of things, like sweets, and I don't really dislike anything, except nasty dark chocolate. My hobbies include training, cloud watching, and drawing. My dream is to succeed as a sensei for the three of you and become the first person in the world to completely master every elemental variation of the Flash Step." He glanced at Izumi and pointed at her, signaling for her to go.
"Uh, my name is Izumi Uchiha. I like to mess with Itachi and eat different types of ice-cream. I dislike sour things and the dark. My hobbies include annoying Itachi and probably reading. My dream is to become the strongest female Uchiha!" Shisui nodded at her goals.
"Ambitious, I like it!" He turned to Itachi. "Your turn,"
"My name is Itachi Uchiha. I like pocky and sweet dumplings. I dislike it when Izumi tries to annoy me and I dislike bitter things. My hobbies include training and playing with my little brother. My dream is to become a good leader for my clan, and to become a good role model for my little brother." Shisui grinned.
"Oh yeah, how is Sasuke by the way?" Itachi smiled politely.
"He is fine," Shisui then turned to Naruto, who waited patiently for his turn. "Now it's your go."
"My name is Naruto Namikaze, I like to help people when they are in need. I don't really dislike anything. My hobbies include training and," He stopped for a moment before shrugging. "Training I guess. My dream is to become strong enough to where I can stop bad things from happening!"
"Admirable goal, though, you'd have to be a lot stronger than Hokage-sama for that to happen." Naruto nodded, already knowing this. "Like, maybe five times as strong? I don't know, all I know is that you'd have to have the power of a-"
"God," Naruto whispered. "I'd have to have the power of a God, which will probably never happen, but I will try my very best!" He grinned brightly, making Shisui smile warmly at his blonde student.
He then clapped his hands and stood up.
"Great, I'm happy to be your teacher, but now for the real test!" A flame sparked across Shisui's sword as everyone jumped back several feet, Naruto ducking into the tall grass and Itachi and Izumi brandishing kunai.
"Your test is to make me use my left hand," He said, holding his empty left hand up in the air. "If you do, then you pass and are Official Genin of Konoha, if you cannot, then you will be sent back to the academy with no chance to graduate until you are twelve years old."
"Not gonna happen!" Naruto shouted as a large fireball coursed down the field, heading straight to Shisui as he jumped in the air, sending dozens of shuriken and kunai at the Uchiha Jounin. "I have things to do and goals to accomplish," Naruto appeared right behind Shisui, on three limbs as he held a steel sword in his hand, wielding it reverse-style.
"A sword huh? I haven't seen that style before though," Shisui spoke as he blocked the weapon easily. "You'll need to try a bit harder than that," Naruto let his determined grin turn into a smirk before he flashed away, appearing behind Shisui as a shuriken took his place.
"Don't worry, I'll give you a challenge!" Shisui leaned back just enough to where the sword swiped millimeters away from his face. Naruto tried to ax kick the teenager in the face, but Shisui used the butt of his blade to deflect Naruto's kick and used his right foot to cause Naruto to spiral out of control and land on his back a couple of feet away.
"I sincerely doubt that." He then glanced at Itachi and Izumi, who had watched the short fight from a distance with amazement in their eyes. "Aren't you guys going to try?"
Naruto, Itachi, and Izumi laid on the ground, huffing, and puffing as Shisui sat in front of them, his legs crossed as multiple singe marks were on his clothing and hair, grumbling the entire time.
"Stupid kids and their stupid teamwork and their stupid fireballs," He muttered repeatedly as he crossed his arms.
They had passed.
Team Shisui was under way!
And done. How was it? Good? Bad? Tell me!
Quite short compared to the first, but I wanna do 2k words a chapter as of now, doubling what I usually do. This chappie is the exception though.
Anyways, yeah.
Just wanna get this out there, haven't been dealing with my chappies because of school/work, which doubles to...16 hours of my day! Yay fucking me.
(KILL MEEEEEE)
Anyways ye
Til next time my lil demons!
