Chapter 19: Death
Naruto sat across from Hiruzen, his mouth gaping in shock as he looked at the body below him.
It was Shisui's. Shisui's body was laying right in front of him, his eyes missing, the blood from the removal of his eyes were stained on his cheeks, his whole body wet.
"We found him in the Naka River, the death was ruled as a suicide, I don't know why his eyes are gone though," Hiruzen explained sadly. Shisui Uchiha was one of the strongest the village had to offer, and he was a good man. It was a loss for everybody.
"I," Naruto began as he slowly reached down, his fingers grazing Shisui's cold and pale cheek, his hand immediately retracting. "Who would do such a thing to you, Shisui? Why would someone want to hurt you? Who could have hurt you? Who could have beat you?"
"Naruto," Hiruzen said sadly as he placed a hand upon the blonde's shoulder. "It will be okay, there we will be funeral honoring his death." Naruto's eyes had tears in them, a slow steady stream leaking as he wept silently for his fallen sensei.
"He taught me almost everything I know," He cried out in a shaky voice. "He was so kind and full of love and compassion for everyone he came across! Why? Why did he have to die?"
"Sometimes, in my belief," Hiruzen began, consoling the fourteen-year-old. "Those who die at a young age are those Kami wishes to be with sooner rather than later, so Kami claims them earlier than usual."
"I can't accept that!" Naruto cried out, clutching Shisui's body, holding him close as if his body heat would revive the cold corpse. "I can't accept that he's dead! Somebody murdered him! He was my teacher! My comrade! My friend! And now he's dead because of reasons we don't know!"
"Calm down," Hiruzen chided lightly. "I know this is a harsh thing, Naruto, but people die earlier than we would like. I've lost many people myself, I know exactly what you're feeling. The despair and sadness, I know it all too well." Naruto's watering eyes widened.
This man had been Hokage for well over fifty years, he had sent people to their deaths without knowing it, and he has most likely outlived many of his childhood friends who also became shinobi, and he also fought in all three Great Ninja Wars. This man had seen death and felt it before. Naruto had no right to feel angry for him to tell him to calm down.
"I apologize," He said as he stood up, rubbing the tears out of his eyes. "I spoke too soon and without a care for your feelings in the matter."
"It is okay, you are hurting. Go home and rest, sleep. His funeral will be tomorrow at noon." Naruto nodded before bowing.
"Thank you for informing me directly, Hokage-sama."
"Yes, I have a question for you." Two medic nins walked into the room and collected Shisui's corpse from the room, making Naruto look downcast once again. They left the room, making Hiruzen and Naruto alone. "How did you know to come here? I hadn't called for you." Naruto's eyes narrowed.
"A few weird Anbu approached me and said Lord Danzo ordered me to go to you immediately so I did." Hiruzen's eyes narrowed.
'Damn that fool,' He thought before he smiled.
"Ah yes, he must've wanted you to know as soon as possible. Though, he didn't inform me of informing you." Naruto nodded.
"Well, thank you again, or thank Lord Danzo for me, I'll be off now." Naruto bowed again before leaving. Hiruzen sat at his desk, anger flowing through him. How dare Danzo go behind his back?!
A tired sigh escaped the old Hokage's lips, the good ole pipe being brought out of his pocket as he lit it up, his exhausted eyes closing.
He used to be the strongest in the village, but he felt weaker than ever. All he could do was wait and pray.
Pray for his village.
Naruto took his steps one by one, his eyes on the ground, sadness welling up within him. His sensei was dead. Shisui Uchiha was dead.
Naruto didn't notice that he was causing those around him to send worried looks his way, unable to lift his head, as if it were being weighed down. What was this sadness? He hadn't felt something this strongly since his parents died.
Suddenly, Naruto got flicked in the nose as he looked up and saw Anko Mitarashi grinning at him, her eyes closed as her white teeth sparkled in the moonlight. "What's with the glum look, kid? Did Itachi finally beat ya?" Naruto blinked. Was he that noticeable?
"Oh," Was all he got out. "No, I'll talk to you later Anko." He walked past the woman, shoving his hands in his pockets. Anko frowned. This was different, she had always seen Naruto smile, he never even smirked, just the same dumb smile.
"Hey Naruto," She called out, using his name for once. "What's wrong," She lightly gripped his shoulder to keep him from walking away. Naruto turned to her, his sky-blue eyes downcast.
"Shisui-sensei," He began, his throat tightening. "He's, um, well, he's dead. They found his body in the Naka River, and they said he committed suicide." Anko's eyes widened.
"But he was always so, happy?" This brought a new perspective into play. Maybe those who were always happy also the saddest? She then gave Naruto a concerned look, surprising the blonde. "You're not planning on doing anything, are you?" She sounded genuinely worried, causing Naruto to chuckle silently.
"No, I was just about to go to bed, but now that you mention it, I should probably inform Itachi and Izumi, I doubt they want to be taken by surprise in the morning." He was about to turn around but Anko caught his arm, making him stop. "What's wrong?"
"Please don't do anything dumb, promise me that at least." Naruto chuckled before he placed a hand on top of her purplish hair? The author does not know because the author is also colorblind, so he is going to say purple until corrected.
"I won't, I promise." He gave her a grin before turning back around, the grin disappearing almost instantly, his hands back in his pockets as he stalked off to go talk to Itachi and Izumi about Shisui's apparent suicide.
Anko was beet-red and shook her head violently. She was eighteen and he was fourteen, gross! Gross gross gross gross gross!
She shook her head before walking towards her favorite restaurant, intent on getting to the good stuff first. It was Buffet Night!
Izumi was panting hard as she faced the masked man once again, this time, she would win! She would not lose to a coward behind a mask! With her Sharingan active, she let out a battle cry and charged forward.
She walked right through him before she felt her hair that was in a ponytail grabbed and yanked, flying backward. She hit the ground roughly, her Sharingan spinning as she charged him again.
"You are reckless, young one." The masked man said as he caught Izumi's wrist with his left hand and twisting it, her sword falling out of it and into his right hand. "Allow me to teach you how to really carve in someone's insides." Her eyes widened.
Not yet!
Naruto slowly walked down the trail that led to the secluded area the Uchiha had stayed in, thinking it was weird how dark it was. Usually, the entire trail was lit up with candles. Perhaps they forgot?
Then, the smell of iron hit his nose and his eyebrows instantly shot up. Iron. Blood smelled of iron. . .
Naruto began jogging, the smell getting stronger with each passing step. He broke out into a full sprint before arriving at the entrance to the Uchiha Compound and horror gripped his heart.
There were bodies everywhere. Bodies of the Uchiha, not a single one still living, even the civilians!
"Who could have done this?" Naruto questioned himself out loud as he bent down to check the pulse of a five-year-old, only to find nothing but blood on his fingers. He cursed as he stood at attention.
Naruto carefully passed through the Uchiha Compound, finding more and more bodies, and he realized that he was probably the only living thing in that district! Fear latched onto him like a plague.
'Itachi, Izumi, Sasuke, Fugaku, Mikoto!' He thought the names of those he cared about as he rushed to Itachi's house, pleading with Kami that they were still alive and well.
Naruto appeared in front of Itachi's house and saw the lone masked man standing over a body. A girl's body. He slowly approached the body and his face showed nothing but horror. She had been stabbed several times in the chest and even had one of her fingers cut off. It was a brutal death. He got closer and felt his throat tighten up.
It was Izumi.
"Izumi!" He cried, running to the fallen girl and scooping her up into his arms. "C'mon no, no no no no no no, wake up! Please! You have to wake up!" But she wasn't going to wake up, and even if she was alive, she would die in the next second anyway, the blood she was losing was pooling around him.
He shook her violently as if it would bring her back to life. But it did not, his efforts in vain. His eyes burned of tears as he glared at the masked man.
"Why would you do such a thing?! What have these people ever done to you to deserve this?!" He shouted.
"They got in my way," The deep voice of the masked man replied simply. "They were flies that needed to get their wings clipped, and I did just that, but of course, I had help." Naruto heard a door behind him slide shut, the sound echoing throughout the empty compound.
"No." He whispered. He felt the chakra of the person standing next to him. "It's not true, you're a fake."
"I am no fake, Naruto, you are the fake, carrying those eyes as if they belong to you, you are no Uchiha!" Naruto slowly turned around and met Itachi's Mangeykou Sharingan. "Allow me to show you what has transpired, Naruto! Tsukuyomi!"
Naruto found himself strapped to a cross in a world of red, Itachi just below him on the ground, looking at him impassively. "This is my Tsukuyomi Dimension, Naruto. Here, I am God. Allow me to show you what I've done this last hour."
Itachi made Naruto watch Itachi slaughter every single last Uchiha. Over and over again Naruto watched, helplessly thrashing against the chains that bound him. He felt useless.
"It has only been 71 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds, Naruto." Itachi tilted his head to the side. "What's wrong, you look as if you have been at work for hours."
Naruto fell to his knees, back in the real world, breathing heavily as sweat poured down his head while Itachi stood over him, his sword in hand.
"You are weak, Naruto." Itachi held the sword over his head. "I surpassed you long ago." He brought the sword down only for it to be caught by Madara, the blade shattering in several pieces.
"You will not harm him, Itachi." The voice contained a lot more venom than Itachi would have expected. The cold, calculated Madara sounded angry and emotional.
"Oh right," He wasn't really going to harm Naruto, he was going to knock him out with the flat side of his blade so he couldn't pursue. "He's a Jinchuuriki, I forgot, forgive me." Madara didn't say anything until he backhanded Naruto into the concrete wall several feet behind him, the dust spreading.
"Go, Itachi. I will hold him off for you to get away." He said, his cold voice back into effect, sending shivers down Itachi's spine. This man had only gotten stronger from back then. It was terrifying.
"At once," He then vanished away, running towards the Hidden Rain as fast as possible, his report to the Hokage ruined. He summoned a quick crow and attached a letter as fast as possible, a small seal that would set to burn it after thirty seconds of opening.
Nobody would know what had happened this night, not the truth. Only Madara, Hiruzen, Danzo, a few of Danzo's men, and Madara. Sasuke was to never know the truth.
Sasuke was to kill him and restore honor to the Uchiha.
Sasuke was the answer.
Naruto slowly got out of the hole the masked man had put him in, his Sharingan active, the faint glow of red glaring at the masked man.
"What did you do to Itachi? This isn't like him!" He shouted accusingly, causing the man to chuckle, his deep laughter resonating in Naruto's ears.
"You are a fool. Itachi did this on his own free will, I was only tasked with killing the Police Force, and that girl who decided to engage me. Itachi did the rest on his own." Naruto shook his head.
"I don't believe you! I'll go find him, you can't stop me!" Naruto vanished in a shunshin, causing Madara to sigh.
"I hope they don't kill each other, it'll put a dent in my plans."
"I'll kill you, big brother!" A young voice shouted as a dull kunai bounced off of Madara's shoulder, causing him to look up and see a young Uchiha.
"Ah, you must be Itachi's younger brother, Sasuke." He commented before turning to him, his Sharingan activating, glowing through the single hole that was on his mask, the Sharingan morphing into its Mangeykou form. "Allow me to amplify your despair ten-fold."
'Damn, he's catching up quickly! Did he kill Madara?!' Itachi thought as he glanced back, feeling Naruto's chakra advancing on him faster than he would've liked. He saw the Valley of the End approaching.
The Hidden Rain wasn't much farther from here.
Itachi jumped across Hashirama Senju's head and onto Madara Uchiha's before he stopped.
He was here.
"Itachi you son of a bitch!" Naruto shouted at the top of his lungs, his Sharingan almost setting Itachi on fire.
"Go home, Naruto. This doesn't concern you." Naruto shook his head.
"I can't do that!" Itachi turned around, his Mangeykou Sharingan flaring.
"Do you wish to know how I got these eyes, Naruto?" He spoke loudly, the wind passing through the valley, the wind whipping their ears.
"The Mangeykou," Naruto hadn't had time to analyze it yet, but it seemed like three-sided Fuma shuriken. "How do you have those eyes?" They would have had to go under a lot of stress to gain those eyes, emotional stress.
"I killed sensei, Naruto." Naruto's heart sank as his pupils shrank. "I killed Shisui in order to obtain these eyes. Then, to test their new power, I killed my clan. They deserved to die like the trash they are."
"You bastard!" Naruto roared, the air shaking as the Kyuubi's chakra began radiating off of him before he flashed in front of Itachi, the latter's eyes widening before Naruto punched him in the face as hard as he could, knocking Itachi off of the head of Madara Uchiha and down to the valley below, hitting the ground harder than he would have liked.
Groaning, Itachi stood up and looked back up at Naruto, who was still standing atop of the statue, glaring at him and fear filled him for the first time in a long time. Was he going to die at the hand of Naruto?
"I'm going to break all your bones and drag you back to the village!" He screamed before shooting down at Itachi. Itachi cursed and backed up, his right eye suddenly began gushing blood before black flames shot towards Naruto.
Naruto was going to swipe the black flames away, but they stuck to his left arm and he let out a cry of pain. He jumped into the water, hoping to extinguish the burning flames, already feeling his flesh melt away on his arm.
They didn't go out.
Naruto let out a pain screamed before unsheathing his sword and cutting off his arm, the on-fire arm falling to the ground as Naruto's agony-filled scream pierced Itachi's ear, making the younger boy feel guilty.
Red chakra surrounded the nub that was produced when Naruto cut off his own arm before it regenerated almost instantly, a grunt of pain coming from Naruto.
"The Kyuubi has his uses at times, I'm glad regeneration is one of them." He then shifted his glance at Itachi. "But you are can't regenerate, can you, Itachi?" Itachi gulped before he rushed Naruto, his spare sword in hand.
Naruto ducked under the blade of Itachi and used the bottom of his hilt to smash it into Itachi's stomach, causing the former Uchiha heir to grunt in pain before he spun around Naruto's back, hooking his blade with Naruto's own.
"Go home!" He growled. "This isn't about you!"
"I became part of this because you killed Shisui!" Naruto said before shifting his other sword into a reverse grip and placing it against Itachi's sword and twisting to face Itachi, glaring at the raven-haired boy. "And I will not allow you to get away with this!"
Itachi let go of his swords and jumped into the air, twisting as he kicked Naruto's head, the latter's head hitting the ground hard. He bounced back up into the air as Itachi thurst his knee into his chest, a small crack forming in his ribs as he winced in pain.
"What's wrong, Naruto? You can't give up now." He said as he stood over Naruto, who was on his knees and clutching his chest in pain. "I thought you were going to break every bone in my body and drag me back to the village?"
"Who said anything about giving up?" Naruto growled, his voice louder and more feral, the Kyuubi enhancing his chakra and his voice. "I'm just getting started you piece of shit!" Naruto roared and the air parted ways as he suddenly uppercut Itachi into the air and reappeared in front of Itachi as he kicked the Uchiha into the water.
Itachi emerged from the water, soaking wet as he glared at Naruto. "I told you to stay away!" He stood upon the water, chakra emitting from the soles of his feet. "You never listen, Naruto!"
"You will not lecture me, Itachi!" He shouted as a fireball hurled towards Itachi who backed up, the fire hitting the water as steam erupted from the water. Itachi took a few more steps back before making a few hand signs before he jumped into the air.
"Fire Style: Phoenix Flame Jutsu!" He said as several balls of fire shot towards Naruto who just glared at the fire and swiped the air, blowing the flames away, only for several shuriken to appear from the fires.
Naruto's Kyuubified-Sharingan eyes narrowed at the shuriken before they exploded when they got within five feet from him, enveloping him in smoke.
Itachi narrowed his eyes at the smoke. Two glowing red eyes were the first thing he saw from the smoke before it instantly vanished, revealing a bloodied Naruto who had blood on his chest, his clothes blasted away, his well-developed pecs and six-pack revealing themselves.
"Damn," He was foolish to think that that would knock him out. Maybe if he tried Tsukuyomi. . .
No, he had already tried and it failed, it only made Naruto even more pissed off. Itachi knew Naruto was stronger than him. Itachi also knew Naruto was smarter than him.
Either way, no matter what he tried he would lose. . .
"I guess I have no choice," Itachi spoke loudly so Naruto could hear him. Blood slowly poured down both of his eyes before an orange chakra began surrounding him, an upper half of a skeleton surrounding him, a single chakra sword appearing in the skeleton's right hand.
"This is my first time using it, but I was told this was Susanoo by the masked man who killed Izumi."
"Don't say her name like that!" Naruto screamed angrily. "We were your teammates Itachi! And now you toss us away like we're nothing?"
"Exactly that Naruto," Itachi spoke. "Now, let us settle to see who is the strongest, can you beat the eyes that see everything?"
"YES I CAN!" Naruto screamed as lightning ignited in his hand, it was the advanced version of Chidori, Raikiri. "You'll own up to your crimes!" Itachi saw the chakra radiating off of Naruto's Raikiri and a smirk came across his face.
Yes. Naruto still had Kakashi. He wouldn't be completely alone.
Naruto charged him, intent on piercing his Susanoo armor. Itachi met Naruto's rage-filled eyes as he drew nearer.
One second.
Naruto thrust the Raikiri forward, millimeters from piercing Itachi's chakra armor. He would go back to the village!
Itachi closed his eyes, his Susanoo disappearing as Naruto pierced his heart before his eyes opened.
"Tsukuyomi!" He said as he got into Naruto's mind, this time, Naruto was not tied to a cross in the red world that was Itachi's Realm.
"Itachi," Naruto was in shock. Itachi held up a finger, stopping him from furthering questions.
"Naruto, allow me to speak. This won't last as long as last time." Itachi gave Naruto a small smile. "I'm sorry that you had to find out this way. I'm sorry I wasn't sure you would understand what I had to do, but trust me when I say it was to keep the peace."
"Peace? What peace?! You killed your family!"
"They weren't my family anymore, my family died the moment they planned to take over Konoha. I cannot allow that to happen, it's why I left Sasuke alive! Naruto, you're my brother in all but blood, and even then we still have the same eyes. Izumi," Itachi began tearing up. "Izumi was my sister in all but blood! I loved her just as you did, Naruto! I didn't want any of this to happen. I'm sorry. Please, Naruto, please promise me, promise me you'll-" The red world cut out as Naruto and Itachi found themselves back onto the water.
Naruto's arm was inside Itachi's chest, and his hand was outside his back. Itachi had two thin lines of blood trailing down his mouth, one from each corner of his mouth. "P-protect, S-S-Sasuke!" Itachi whispered before he fell forward into Naruto's arms, blood seeping off of his body and into the water below, making it seem as if the lake water was slowly turning red.
"Itachi?!" Naruto spoke.
No. No. No. No. No. No.
What did Itachi mean? That he killed his clan to keep the peace? That the Uchiha were planning to revolt and take over Konoha? Is that why he did this?! If so, why didn't he tell him?!?! He could have helped deescalate the situation! He could have prevented all this death!
"No," Naruto spoke, agony in his voice as he held the still-warm body of his dead best friend, sobbing as he shook violently. "No."
The tears going down Naruto's face were like rivers going down a mountain, holding onto Itachi's corpse like it was a lifeline, as if it were if Naruto were to let go, he would die as well.
"I can't lose you too. . ."
The tears going down his face suddenly turned thicker and became a light crimson as his eyes opened up, a four-pointed curved shuriken appeared in his eyes, the scleras of his eyes were bloodshot.
Several chakra signatures were approaching Naruto. They were not friendly. They were the opposite of friendly. They were enemies.
Ten Anbu wearing Hidden Rain symbols on their masks landed on the left side of Naruto, and four of the blank masked Anbu that had approached him the night before.
"Hand over the body of the one with the Mangeykou Sharingan!" The one from the blank-masked squad demanded.
"What is this? I thought that guy was supposed to be alive." The Rain Anbu said quietly to his teammates. "What do we do now?"
". . ." Naruto was silent for a second before heaving Itachi's body to shore and laying his corpse down on the sand gently as if he were a glass that could break at any moment. He then stood up straight and walked back onto the water, not causing a single ripple in the water, his Mangeykou Sharingan active.
"You are all enemies," Naruto spoke as blood began trailing down his left eye as he instinctively rose his right hand into the air and all fourteen Anbu that were on the water with him suddenly felt themselves lifted into the air at once by some mysterious force.
"What is this?! Why can't I get down?" An Anbu from Rain shouted frantically in fear.
"This is a problem," An emotionless voice said from the blank mask side.
Naruto slowly began closing his blood-covered hand as the fourteen men and women began grabbing their throats unanimously, choking on an invisible force.
"What is this? Does he have a Kekkei Genkai?!" The Rain Anbu shouted, his voice strained as he slowly felt the breath in his lungs unable to get out, and the oxygen outside of them unable to get in.
"This is the power, of the Mangeykou Sharingan?" An Anbu from the maskless group said, clawing at their throat, seeing Naruto's newly transformed Sharingan. "No wonder he w-wanted it," He got out before he couldn't speak anymore.
Naruto suddenly clenched his fist and a loud crack echoed in the valley. He released his hand and all fourteen Anbu fell into the water, dead, their necks broken.
Naruto silently walked over to Itachi, his bright blue eyes back again, filled with an immeasurable sadness. He scooped Itachi up, using his arms to support his back and legs and began walking back towards the village.
His once cheerful blue eyes had dullened considerably, the shine no longer there. Empty.
He had killed his best friend. He now knew the burden of holding these eyes and wondered how Shisui could have gotten away with them.
"These eyes really are a curse, aren't they," Naruto spoke as he looked down, sadness all over his face. "Itachi."
It was a long walk home.
Naruto appeared at the front gates, and awaiting him was Hiruzen, Danzo, a few clan heads as well as several shinobi. He carried Itachi's body to Hiruzen.
"Itachi is. . . dead?" Hiruzen asked as if he had seen a ghost.
"Yes," Naruto whispered, his eyes burning as tears began forming in his eyes. "Are there any survivors?" He asked.
"Only one," Hiruzen stated. "Sasuke Uchiha survived, and that is it." Naruto felt his heart sink into his stomach.
"That means. . ." Fugaku. . . Mikoto. . . They were gone. Naruto collapsed to his knees, gritting his teeth as he set down Itachi's body.
"No," His second family was dead. Everybody but a little boy he barely knew. "Please no," His heart clenched in his chest as his right hand grabbed at the bare skin above his heart, hoping to stop this pain. "Kami please no," Tears began flowing down his face as he couldn't help but begin shaking.
'I'm sorry, father, I cannot smile this time.' He thought before he began shouting in the air.
His family was dead. Everybody besides Kakashi, Asuma, and Sasuke was dead. All of his childhood friends, his teammates, his sensei, his pseudo aunt and uncle, all dead.
Naruto put his head against the ground.
Gone. Vanished. Never to return.
His father, his mother, his little sister, Itachi, Shisui, Izumi, Fugaku, and Mikoto were gone! Gone gone gone gone gone gone!
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" He screamed into the air, the littlest bit of dirt on his forehead as tears flowed freely down his cheeks.
"Please," He began in the smallest and quietest of whispers, laced with sadness and despair, filled with a man who had lost everything. "Don't leave me."
Naruto sat at one of the many local bars, the fourteen-year-old drinking quite heavily, even if he couldn't get drunk, he knew the burning sensation in his throat indicated he could feel something.
He couldn't feel the stool he was sitting on, or the hands that held his cold glass, or his elbows that sat upon the wood. He could only hear the chatter going amongst the bar about some people's latest missions or new training exercises, or just average people stuff.
He could only feel the burning liquor going down his throat.
He had to feel something or he was afraid that he was completely numb. The use of his ears and the burn of the drink countered that thought, and it pleased him that it did. He had to feel something.
He had to feel anything.
"Hey kid," A female's voice whispered into his voice as he looked over to see an unfamiliar face. "You all good?" She was wearing a Chunin Vest. She had long blonde hair with pale white skin with sea-green eyes that sparkled in the light. He had to guess that she was around sixteen, maybe seventeen, but he wasn't sure, nor did he particularly care.
"I'm fine," He said, taking another shot and tapping the counter twice, the barkeeper knowing it was the signal for another drink.
The barkeeper knew Naruto as a regular and wasn't scared the kid would get rowdy since he could hold his alcohol rather well. Probably something with the Kyuubi in his gut, but he didn't care either way, as long as he got paid by the end of the night, and the kid always left a pretty decent tip.
"You look the opposite of fine," She sat next to him, ordering herself a shot of vodka with cranberry juice. "C'mon, you can tell me." Naruto was silent for a second.
"No." The girl looked at him as if he had struck her.
"Listen, I'm trying to help you and-"
Naruto cut her off. "I didn't ask for your help, nor your guidance, please allow me to drink in peace."
"Asshole," The woman muttered before dumping her drink on him, the red-colored vodka mix on top of his head, it pouring down off of his blonde hair and onto his shoulders and then onto the floor.
Naruto didn't say anything, he just kept drinking his whiskey.
"You made a mess kid, clean it up." The teen said snarkily. Naruto ignored her. It was best not to give in to this bully, who thought she was hot shit for being a Chunin at her age. Big deal. "C'mon, clean it up! I know the owner of this place and he'll kick you out!" He ignored her again.
"Hey asshole," She shouted, getting the entire bar's attention. "Clean it up!" She slapped Naruto, only to pull her hand back in shock. It was as if she had hit bricks and not the face of a fourteen-year-old.
"No." He said calmly. "You poured the drink onto me, and you will be the one to clean it up." He swiped a small marking on his wrist, his Jounin Vest popping out. "Listen to your superiors." She took a step back, not knowing that he was Jounin.
"What the hell? You must've stolen that!" Did she really not know who he was? Huh, he had assumed he was famous in the village for being Minato Namikaze's son, if not that, then his brutal display in the Chunin Exams, and if not that, then the youngest known Jounin in the village, and if not that, then the person who avenged the. . .
He stopped his train of thought as he suddenly felt a large hand grip his shoulder and another hand steal his Jounin Vest. He could feel something!
"Clean up your damn mess and get out of here." A large man growled, wearing a Jounin Vest. Naruto glanced at the calloused hand on his shoulder.
"Get your hand off me, I will not say it another time." The man only laughed.
"Well lookie here fellas, we got a comedian in our bar! I didn't know that, tell us a joke Mr. Jokester!" Naruto turned his stool to look at the five men and the one woman. Three of them Jounin and the other three were Chunin.
"That's Naruto Namikaze," One of them whispered, making the one who had placed a hand on Naruto eyes widen.
"The Fourth's brat? No way," The guy holding his Jounin Vest inspected it and laughed a little.
"They must've given him this cause they felt bad. This village always praised the spawns of those who actually did the work."
"Give me my vest back," Naruto warned, standing up.
"Don't give me orders, Namikaze!" The large man shouted. "We're still waiting for our joke!" Naruto smirked.
"One woman was a whore and approached a younger man, the younger man shooed her away and she got mad. She then got a bunch of goons to help teach the younger man a lesson. But they didn't know that the younger man was a lot stronger them all of them, and they did not know he was trained by Shisui Uchiha and Kakashi Hatake, nor did they know that he had two Kekkei Genkai on his side.
"In the end, they all walked away and apologized and went home to go jerk themselves off because what were they going to do to someone so obviously superior to them? That's my joke, based on a true story." The man lunged at Naruto, anger radiating off of him, but felt himself stop.
"But there's an alternate ending," Blood began pouring out of Naruto's left eye as he suddenly lifted up his hand and all of the six harassers were suddenly in the air, clutching their throats. "They all get their ass beat without the younger man laying a single hand on them." He brought his arm down and all of them hit the ground hard.
Naruto turned to the barkeeper and placed a few hundred bills on the counter for him. "Sorry for the trouble, Hachi, I think I'll be leaving now." The man known as Hachi nodded.
"Anytime, Naruto-san."
Naruto walked out of the bar and looked into the night sky. He could feel again. A smile crossed his face. Things would get better, hopefully.
And maybe the constant weight in his chest would begin to lessen. He began descending down the pathway, the same smile on his face.
He would live on and carry everyone's spirit within him.
He would not falter.
He would bring peace.
End of Part 1
