🪻Rohan's POV

After a long day with 2 brand shoots and photoshoots, coming home and slumping onto the bed was the only thing on my mind. I parked my car and got into the house, only to be stopped by my father's pleasant laughter from his home office.

It's been so long since my father laughed so heartily. Curiosity gets the best of me, and I make the mistake of entering his room. On his laid-back mahogany desk, which is filled with stacks of paper, my father notes down details on a piece of paper.

"Yes, Raghu, I would love it." My father's voice echoes in the room. A lot of questions pop into my mind: Raghu Uncle? Did my dad call? Did Uncle call him?

" I will get in touch with her soon," He says cutting the call. Who is this 'Her'? What does she have to do with my dad?

"You look so happy?" I say once he notices me in the room.

"You will be happy too!" My father stands up coming to pat my back enthusiastically.

"And why is that?" I ask him but he walks past me.

"I need to tell your mom too," He says as he drags me with him to the kitchen.

" Good thing you are also here Prerna" My father acknowledges my sister as well.

"What is going on?" I mouth her, and she nods her head and points the knife to my dad, as she is cutting vegetables,  meaning let's see.

"It's such good news, Uma," My dad says happiness radiating from him.

"What is it? Tell it already!" I was losing my patience.

"Your best friend is coming to live with us!" My dad says and all I could muster was an ineligible grunt.

"Arushi is coming to Colorado, to study at the university. She has chosen the business program" My dad explains and it takes me a lot of time to process. She will be in my program at my university. What the heck is happening?

"You guys will get to go to college together, like old times!" My mom says, she is happy as well.

"I have loved that kid a lot! Can't believe she is coming to stay with us" My dad says with a proud smile. He did pamper Arushi a lot, he saw her as one of us. Even after coming here all he could do was talk about her. How sweet she was and how caring she was.

Well, all of that is a hoax. She is a liar and a deceiver. She talks sweetly when she needs something and when she doesn't need you anymore she tosses you out. I will not fall for her tricks this time, better yet I will take my revenge. I will show her how I felt when she broke my heart that way.

"Aren't you excited Rohan?" My mom asks me and my dad pats my back.

"Very much!" I answer them as I play with my bracelet.

" I need to go," I tell my parents, right now I decided to meet Sebastian to tell him the news.

He knows how much I hate Arushi. Is it wrong of me to hate her? Maybe? But I cannot help it! She was my best friend and she broke my heart without reason.

I wear my sweater and beanie as I walk into the cold air of Boulder. This place is perfect, peaceful, and happy to say the least. I get to do what I want, when I want, without the invasion of privacy. I get to take beautiful shots of nature with my camera whenever I please. The mountains around me make me feel at peace. And I will lose all of that if Arushi comes here.

My life here is perfect as it is. My program will start soon, I have good friends around the block, and I can earn decent money through modeling, all of it is going fine. I have a café I can visit whenever I want to because my friend owns it. My life here is fulfilled.

I opened the door of the retro-themed book and coffee café, it gave the vibes of dark academia. Sebastian was by the counter ringing up the customers.

"Are you working alone today?" I ask as I go up to the counter.

"Yes, Alice is on sick leave," He says in his thick black accent.

"I will ring the rest up you make the orders," I say pulling up my sleeves. Alice and Sebastian are close friends turned business partners, they opened their café a year ago and it's been bustling, causing them to make it a full-time thing.

"Thanks, man," Seb says as he goes to the coffee maker to start working on the espresso.

I ring up the rest of the customers and help dispatch the orders once they are made. The evening rush is hard to manage alone, but once the clock hits 7 the café starts getting quieter only to be filled with employees, readers, and writers.

I sit down on the seat behind the counter as Seb comes to sit beside me.

"How was the shoot today?" He asks bringing my drink without even asking, the perks of having a friend who is a café owner. It was chai, drinking coffee this late will surely mess up my sleep.

"It was good," I say not dwelling on it much. There is another topic I wanna dwell on actually.

"Arushi is coming, to Boulder," I say as I sip my chai, it's not that great but It's free I cannot complain.

"The Arushi?" He asks shock evident on his face, I and Seb got very close after a few months of meeting, and we have been inseparable since. Maybe when god takes away something he gives something good back, and I believe that to be Sebastian.

"Yes," I nod looking at him.

"Why?" He asks as he stands up again to ring another order.

"She is here for the business program" I explain and walk behind him so am still audible.

"So she is in the same major as you? Interesting" Sebastian nods his head. Interesting indeed.

"I was thinking of a revenge plan maybe," I say still sipping my bland tea.

" Rohan it's been 3 years" Seb reminds me, but the day still runs through my mind and all it does is fuel my anger.

"But what she did was wrong!" I retaliate. She never told me the reason as to why she made that decision, why she threw me out of her life.

At least this time, I will not wait for answers but rather make her life a living hell.
