I was waiting at the smoothie shop when Matrix and Emo arrived completely dry. The two of them sat down across from me. "Welcome to the world of the mermaid secret. We shall tell you all you need to know. But first: Can you keep a secret?" Emo said. I nodded. "Good because we need to keep this private or else we'll be put on a dissection table," Matrix said. "That's common sense when mermaids are found to be real. Anyway how does this all work?" I said. "That's what we're going to be explaining today Cyno. How the mermaid thing works," Emo said "I made a whole powerpoint presentation on the matter. But somebody told me to delete it,". "Imagine if somebody found it. We'd be shipped off to the government labs in half a day," Matrix said. "He has a point," I said. "Fine. Anyway let's explain," Emo said.

After like 20 minutes of explaining I got the gist. "So you're saying that after making contact with water you have 10 seconds before your legs turn into a tail. And your clothes just vanish when you transform," I recapped. Matrix nodded. "I see. And Emo got his powers from a full moon and now whenever he's exposed to full moon light he goes back to the Moon Pool thing where he got his powers," I said. Emo nodded. "And Matrix you have wind powers while Emo has powers over heat and fire," I said. Both nodded. "So Matrix the one think you haven't explained is how you're a half-breed," I said. Matrix cutely puffed his cheeks before explaining. "Okay I don't know this for sure but i'm pretty sure my mother was the mermaid because of something that happened when I was a young child. My biological parents were in a car crash that killed them both. But neither of their bodies were found. All there was was shattered glass, a broken car, and blood everywhere," Matrix explained. I felt sorry for him. "But that's not the point. The point is that there was a car accident and it's most likely Matrix's mom that gave him the mermaid powers," Emo said. "Oh oh oh. One more thing there's two more of us that we know of here in town one of which isn't actually in town right now," Matrix said. "More?" I asked. Emo nodded. "They're female friends of ours. Flora Shi and Malshakti Creed. Flora is a half-breed like me and Malshakti was born a mermaid but gave herself legs," Matrix said. "Got it," I said. "Just make sure not to talk to Malshakti. She cannot be trusted," Emo said. "Why?" I asked. "She took something very important from Emo and now she's on our 'Do Not Interact With' list. Top of it actually. 2nd being my ex Childe who you know about," Matrix said. "Flora isn't in town currently because she's studying abroad in China. She's staying with her uncle," Emo said. I nodded.
