After the shooting incident, Bruce decided to treat Dick to a magic show. Unfortunately, because his brothers were unable to be left alone, they had to come too. Dick held Bruce's hand tightly as they made their way to through the crowd and to the front row seats. He seemed mesmerized by his surroundings, causing small smiles to grace the faces of his older brothers. "Jason move faster," Tim whined. He was moving so slow Tim thought he would die of old age.
"Try me douche bag," Jason snapped.
"Language Todd," Damian warned.
"He's speaking English," Dick commented causing everyone but Jason to face palm.
"That's my little brother," he said with a laugh.
They found their seats and the show began. The first five magicians were great with only a few spoilers as to how they did it from Damian. Then there was some shouting off stage that seemed quite out of place. "What's going on?" Dick asked worriedly.
"I bet a rabbit has escaped," Jason suggested.
"Or maybe one of those saws finally worked," Damian muttered darkly. The youngest giggled a little then looked back to the stage as another magician came on. He wore a mask and a long black cape. The audience was captivated by him as he brought out a small box. He went about his act silently, the only sound coming from the background music set for the atmosphere. "This guy is weird," Dick whispered to Bruce.
"He really is. Let's hope it's over quickly," he responded. Something about the man put him off. There was a way about him that made them all suspect him of some unknown wrong doing. If he'd been accused of any crime, they'd believe it.
The magician walked off stage and into the audience, walking in between the rows. He settled on the Wayne family's row and pointed to Dick. "Erm, why are you pointing at me?" he asked cautiously. The man opened his hand and grabbed the boy's hand tightly. As soon as he touched the man's hand he felt a weird pain move through his body then nothing. Nothing at all. He was led on stage calmly and all he cared about was following his orders. The man opened the box and gave a nod meaning he wanted Dick to walk in. He did so without any hesitation before the door was locked. "What's with this guy?" Tim asked.
"He's creepy as hell," Jason replied. He gained nods from his brothers as they waited for Dick to be returned. "Wait a minute, doesn't Grayson hate audience participation?" Damian questioned. "He does. Or at least he did," Tim confirmed with a gulp. The man knocked on the box five times and opened the box again. It was empty making the audience clap in awe. They waited for him to bring Dick back but he simply just walked off stage and the curtains were drawn. The show had ended just like that.
"Did he just walk off without bringing him back?" Jason asked. Nothing happened for ten minutes and the audience assumed the show was over. They all left except the Batfamily. "You bring your stuff?" Jason asked, getting up.
"When don't we?" Tim answered. Tim took out the camera's then they got changed in the male toilets. It wasn't the easiest of jobs as they kept standing in the toilet to get their pants on and Tim nearly fell flat on his face two times. They returned to the scene and walked onto the stage. "Well you were right, there's a trap door here," Red Robin announced, remembering Renegade whispering about how the magician did it. He also remembered hitting him in the arm so he'd shut up. "I'm never wrong," Renegade insisted, opening the small hatchway. He jumped down and looked around. There was a large tunnel that seemed out of place considering they were in a posh theatre. "Drake, get up the blueprints for the building and see where this tunnel leads," he ordered. They all followed and listened for any sign of Dick. "What we got?" Red Hood asked, wanting to get this over with. His favourite show, Cupcake Wars, was on in an hour and he couldn't miss it. (Cupcake Wars is a great show don't judge him.) Red Robin nodded and showed a hologram. "These tunnels lead to an old sewer system, hasn't been used in years," he replied.
"I just wanted to take Dick to a nice show to make up for you shooting him and now this happened. Can we not just have a nice night out?" Batman ranted as he stomped down the tunnel. Red Hood looked at the others. "Don't look at us, we didn't shoot our little brother," Red Robin stated as he and Renegade followed Batman. "It was one time! He doesn't even care! I gave him a cookie and he was happy!"
"It'll take more than a cookie Todd."
"Two cookies?" He got an unamused glare before he walked behind them shamefully. Red Robin was right in the tunnel leading to the sewers and luckily for them, they'd all been cleaned out. They followed it until they came to a stand still. "Two tunnels?" Red Hood questioned.
"There shouldn't be two tunnels. The right one isn't recorded on the blueprints." Red Robin announced showing the blueprints again. "How old are they?" Renegade asked.
"Urgh ten years. Why don't people do regular checks anymore?" he complained.
"Any kidnappings in the area?" Batman asked as he looked down the dark tunnel.
"Yeah, about twenty." He paused for a minute.
"What's wrong?" Batman asked.
"Well, they've all been returned shortly after with something missing. It goes from missing eyes to missing organs. Police suspect the black market is involved."
"Have there been any bodies found?" Red Hood asked. It was a question they all had but never dared to ask. "Y-yes. Twelve." Red Hood nodded then walked down the tunnel with a pistol in hand. "We need a plan, we can't just go in there guns blazing!" Red Robin exclaimed.
"Watch me."
Dick remembered the box locking then walking down a dark tunnel. Throughout this experience, he didn't feel even the tiniest bit scared. In fact, he felt at ease like he was perfectly fine with this kidnapping; like it wasn't a big deal. In his head, he tried to work out why he had felt like this. One touch of that man's hand and boom, he was silly putty in their hands. He hadn't felt fear until he was locked in a cage with two children older than him. One was a blonde girl who looked to be fifteen whilst the other was a boy who was around fourteen maybe thirteen at least. "Welcome to Hell kid," the boy greeted. Dick trembled a little and backed himself into a corner. "Ben don't be so rude! Look at the poor thing," the girl scolded. "I'm Lauren and this asshat his Ben. What's your name?"
"D-Dick. W-what happened to y-you?" he asked, staring at the long scar running across her cheek. "They wanted some skin and they got it. Some fifty-year-old burns victim is probably rocking my cheek by now," she replied as though it was normal.
"W-what!" he exclaimed fearfully.
"Count her lucky, I lost my eye. It was my favourite one too." Ben added, showing the grotesque hole where he left eye should be. Dick stared at it and gulped. "It's a shame they got you, you seem so young. How old are you?" Lauren asked politely.
"Eleven. H-how long h-have you been h-here?" he asked.
"About a month or so. Hard to tell. Ben joined about a week ago." she answered. "You seem familiar."
"Duh that's 'cuz he's Wayne's brat. He's the lame gypsy they picked up."
"I'm not a gypsy!" Dick shouted, gaining confidence. "I'm a circus acrobat or at least I was." he corrected. "Same difference kid."
"Ignore him, looks like you won't be seeing them for a long time."
"I wouldn't be so sure," Dick replied, staring off into the inky black tunnel.
"What makes you say that?" Ben asked.
"They have some powerful connections."
With Batman soon taking lead, the family made their way through the dark tunnel to a small room filled with cages. They all seemed empty apart from scraps of clothing and blood. "Not good," Batman muttered. He didn't like the odds this suggested. "Red Robin, I want you to look for anyone down here. Renegade, check the cages for any signs of Dick. Red Hood, you're finding a way into another room whilst I check for footprints. Got it?" They all nodded and got to work. After twenty minutes, Red Hood found a secret passage way and Batman found footprints that belonged to Dick walking towards it. "Everyone ready?" he asked. Red Hood clicked his gun as a sign of yes and they proceeded down the passage. They walked out into another room of cages except this one had children inside it. Three in fact. A girl and two boys. "Dick!" Red Robin shouted. He ran over to the cage and Dick gave him an awkward hug through the bars. "Who are they?" he asked.
"Lauren and Ben, they were taken too," Dick answered quickly.
"So Batman finally came," Ben muttered with surprise.
"As though there was any doubt," Lauren replied. The hero opened the cage and let them out. "Renegade get them to the surface and Red Robin notify the police of this place," Batman ordered. "This way," Renegade stated, walking back up the passageway with the two children following closely behind. "Sorry about this Dickie," Batman apologized.
"It's no big deal. I wasn't scared until I was in a cage," Dick said which put them on edge.
"You weren't scared at all?" Red Hood questioned.
"Nope, that man made me feel calm. I took him for a psychic myself but I can't be sure." They sighed and Batman picked him up. "But Batman?"
"Yes, Dickie?"
"Never take me to a magic show again. From here on out I hate magicians." This caused some laughter to fill the silent room. "Alright, no more magic shows."
The police were swiftly on the premises and helped the two children get back to their worried sick families. They stayed a minute to talk over everything as an ambulance crew made sure Dick was alright. Suddenly, Batgirl swung down from a building across the street with a moody look on her face. "Oh come on! I just found this place and you guys already brought the people down! Leave some for the others!" She ranted. Dick could only giggle at her hissy fit.
Just wanted to make you all aware that there is a picture of Superman saying punish me daddy I deserve it. I am not joking.
