Chapter 5
The venue you were in seemed to be connected to a bigger hotel-like establishment. Some people were exiting the concert because of what had just happened. They were all looking at you as you were being restricted by the two figures. They looked scared but at the same time sorry for you like they knew exactly what was going on and what was about to happen. Once the crowd started to die down, you started to hear noises of motors and electrical gadgets running throughout the building like someone decided it would be a good idea to set up a thousand generators inside of the walls. The environment was starting to change from a happy warm toned resort, to a cool toned area in which there were many wires strung across the walls like spaghetti, and blinking lights that gave you a bit of a headache if you looked at them for too long. It was like you were inside a computer chip.
"Darn maze security..." One of the people holding onto you sighed, "Don't say a word, filthy human. We all know what you're capable of." You were confused.
"Do you think that he'll be happy with this one?" The other soldier asked.
" He's always happy with these things as long as they're alive! How many more does he need again? Three?" The other one nodded. You and the two other figures went up and down a few elevators as you listened to them talk a bit more. The entire environment felt like it kept turning and shifting like an unsolvable maze. Even the armored people were getting confused by the randomized paths. Eventually you got on another elevator, and you were starting to wonder where you were being taken.
"W- Where are you taking me?" You mumbled.
"Keep it closed, human. I don't wanna hear a word from you. We're taking you to our king where he will take care of the rest." They said, "Trust us, it's for the better." The elevator stopped and you were led though a few smaller rooms that looked very similar to the ruins where you had first fallen through the hole. The same vines covering the walls, the same dusty purple rock. It was interesting to see the familiar place after you had time to process what had been going around you. Then you entered a hall that was completely made of gold. It felt too grand for you to look at. It was like you were a poor person working at a small fast food restaurant, and you just walked into a billionaire's mansion. You were getting closer to the king. You went through a large door at the end of the hallway, and the two figures finally dropped you out of their hands like you weren't living and couldn't feel pain. You were in a large room that felt similar to the ones that you already went through, but you could feel an uncomfortable pulling energy like you were getting sucked into a black hole. The floors were covered in a large layer of flowers. Buttercups. You were getting memories from how terrified you were when you had fallen down. You were screaming for help like a coyote. You wondered what everyone on the surface was doing. They were all probably worried sick. Your parents, your friends, your acquaintances. You missed them all so much. There was a large golden throne sitting in the middle of the field where a large creature sat. The energy given off from him felt kind. It was like you were met with a wonderfully warm hug. He sat there like a majestic building that would never ever fall. He had a lot of similarities to Toriel, both being bipedal goats, and on the top of his head was a tiny golden crown.
"Hello there, Marien." He said with one of the kindest smiles you had ever seen, "I saw you on TV. You did much better than me when I went." You didn't say a word to him. You just sobbed like a pathetic kitty. Both of the guards left the room.
"H- hi..." You coughed up over the tears.
"I'm sorry about this, but sadly this must be done. We will be one step closer to getting out, and it will be thanks to you and a few other wonderful people who I'm sure were all as kind as you." He explained as you gulped. You still didn't know what was going to happen to you. "I am Asgore, King of the Underground. I make sure that everyone in this place is happy and thriving." You were still lying peacefully on your knees crying just as you did when you fell down the hole.
"...What's gonna happen to me?" You asked, "I just wanna go back to my home and see my family..."
"W- Well, I can't do that just yet." Asgore sighed, "Humans decided to place a barrier down in this mountain with magic that is not accessible to you all now. You cannot leave once you enter it. I need seven human souls to break the barrier so that we can finally call for peace."
"O- Oh... I've heard that story before... my friend told me about it..." You reminisced about Cece's story. You thought it was completely fake and her bizarre mind had made it up.
"Tell me, how did you get here?" You thought for a few minutes. You could barely trace back what had happened. It was like a distant memory even though it hadn't been that long.
"O- One night I was asked to get something that was at Mount. Ebott. I was chased down and ended up falling down here..." You explained, "Then..." You started sobbing more.
"Go on." Asgore insisted.
"Then, I was attacked... I really thought it was the end, but I found people who cared and immediately helped me when I needed it the most..." You smiled, "I felt so lost before then... My friends, my family... They are all so worried... Or at least I think they are..." Asgore nodded.
"Yes. You humans are wonderful caretakers. Of course they're worried for you. Sadly, we are here for one thing and one thing only. It's faster if you get it over with quickly." Asgore stood from his throne, and whipped out a large red trident from within his cloak. It was an inanimate object, but it looked fiery with anger and madness.
"WAIT NO PLEASE!!!" You screamed bloody mary for help, "I DON'T WANNA DIE!!! I'LL DO ANYTHING!!! PLEASE, NOT YET!!!"
"I'm sorry..." Asgore was aiming his trident straight at your chest.
"YOU DON'T REALIZE HOW WONDERFUL THIS PLACE IS FOR ME!!!" You took one simple moment of silence to attempt and calm down, "I... It was actually a dream of mine to go somewhere I'd never seen before... And now I have... Everyone here is so... kind..." You were quiet for once. You felt the trident fly through the air towards your skin, but instead of hitting it, it completely went past it. You looked up in Asgore in confusion.
"Don't tell a single soul this, but I'm giving you the chance to escape." Asgore smiled as he pulled the trident out of the wall, "The guards are outside of the main door, so take the other door to wherever you need to go." You ran to the door where he was directing you faster than a cheetah, "And I don't want to see you come back into this place, or else. Go! People are waiting!" Asgore winked as you sobbed your way out of the area, down the horrible maze of technology, until you got back to the familiar warm hotel space. You had never felt happier. The place was a lot less crowded than you had remembered it being. In the middle of the entrance to the venue you saw Aphrodite and Alphys who were talking to Sans. You nearly died when you saw them.
"Marien!" Aphrodite turned around, "Goddamnit, are you ok?! Don't do that again!!!" You looked at her still with tears in your eyes, and hugged her.
"Oh my god! Are you good, Marien?!" You said nothing back, "We were just about to go and look for you elsewhere! Sans told us just about everything that happened!" He nodded in approval.
"Yeah, I really have to get back to my place. Marien, I'm glad you're ok. I'll see you all tomorrow." Sans sighed as he walked down the red carpeted floors. It felt like a slightly furry animal.
"Oh! I almost forgot! Sans come back!" Alphys yelled in panic. Sans turned his head in confusion. Then he smiled and walked back to where he was standing. Alphys pulled something small out of her lab coat. A small vile.
"Oh thanks, Alphys. I couldn't thank you doctors enough for helping me with my darn metal problems." Sans smiled as he stuck the vile in his pocket.
"It's our job! You don't have to thank us!" Aphrodite squeaked. She looked over at you, who was nearly asleep.
"I- I have to go meet Mettaton backstage..." Alphys explained as she walked into the venue, "Catch you all on the flipside!" You all stood around for a few more seconds in silence.
"It's getting very late." Sans pointed out.
"You're right." Aphrodite chirped like a bird, "Let's all go home."
