Chapter 39
Lisa's pov~
Practical. Rational. Focused. A guide to moving on by Lalisa Manoban:
Throw everything associated with your ex into a box. All the things he bought for you. All the things you bought when with him. Every little thing that reminds you of him. And shove that box in the deepest, darkest attic you can find.
Delete his number. Better yet block his ass. And of course delete all the text conversations you had.
All the white shirts go in the trash bin. Can't have his stupid bunny smile imprinted on your mind everytime you look at a freaking white T shirt.
Cover your ears or put on headphones whenever his songs are played at places you can't change the music. Like the damn supermarket. If he comes on the radio, change the station.
Lastly, delete all the pictures of him from your phone. (Knowing well enough you had them saved in your iCloud anyway but meh that's just details.)
Add on more idiotic things to the list because every damn thing reminds you of him.
Jisoo gave me an owlish look.
"You're seriously refusing to order Pancakes because Jungkook loves them?"
I grumbled into my cappuccino, eyes bleary from staying up late practicing. "I told you not to bring him up. Ever."
Jisoo shrugged. Unlike Jennie she didn't mind changing topics and not being stubborn about an issue.
"So, are you excited?", Rosé asked, sipping her green tea. Our living room window was open, the morning sun hitting the side of her beautiful face in a breathtaking way.
My fingers were itching for my camera. But Jungkook had bought me my favourite one and it was in the attic along with the other things.
I frowned at my wayward thoughts that never seemed to be too far away from him. "Of course. It's about time anyway."
BlackpinkTV had been recently announced to blinks. And we were busy with it's preparations.
I couldn't be more thankful for the timing. It distracted me from anymore moping and self pity. The fact that basically all the music festivals and shows were over helped too. Meaning that I would not be anywhere near his proximity anytime soon.
Thank God.
Apparently, you shouldn't count your chickens before they're hatched.
Jennie abruptly barged in the living room, waving her phone in the air. "This just in. We have one more festival to attend."
Fuck my life.
~
The crowd roared outside. Last performance for the night before we all went on the stage for a final thank you.
The familiar music and it's corresponding chants began.
"Kim Namjoon!!Kim Seokjin!!Min Yoongi!!Jung Hoseok!!Park Jimin!!Kim Taehyung!!Jeon Jungkook!!!"
This time I didn't have the luxury of covering my ears or wearing headphones. The former would look rude in front of other idols in the backstage area. And the latter I did not have at the moment.
Sitting on one of the crew chairs in the corner, I closed my eyes. I wanted to be alone.
His smooth melodic voice singing DNA filtered in from the speakers set up everywhere.
"Don't worry love
All of this is not a coincidence
We are totally different baby
The two of us found fate."
But his voice in an entirely different situation was looping in my mind over and over again.
"Under that self righteous exterior, you're just as basic and predictable as every other girl I've been with."
"In our past lives and probably in our next too
We are together eternally.
All of this is not a coincidence
The two of us found fate."
"You think you're a special snowflake just because you look so much different than every other girl in the industry. Well, let me tell you that's your only charm. Once the novelty of your looks wore off, I had to suffer through your dull and run-of-the-mill presence everyday."
"Every time I see her, I'm in shock
This is what they say what love is."
"Want a piece of our success, do you? Sorry, doll, you have to worry about other things then just boy problems in your life for that. We rose from the ground up ourselves. Your silver spooned self can't release more than one song a year."
"From the day the universe was birthed
Over the infinite centuries
All of this is not a coincidence
The two of us found fate."
"Truth hurts, doesn't it? Think twice before you come talking to me again, doll. I will shred you into so many pieces, you won't be able to find a hole small enough to crawl into."
I opened my eyes as the song ended. I had learned my lesson very well.
"Lisa?"
Startled, I jumped a little in my chair before turning around. Bambam.
I smiled the best I could.
He cocked his head, looking handsome as always."Did something happen between you and Jungkook?"
My eyes widened.
He chuckled. "Sorry I forgot you didn't know that I knew. Jungkook told me." He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say more, but apparently thought better of it.
"He did?" Why?
"Yeah." He stepped closer to lean against the counter in front of me, crossing his arms on his chest."So?",he searched my eyes. "Did something happen?"
"Umm." I looked away, not really in the mood for an inquisition. "Yeah, we're not together anymore."
Narrowing his eyes, he muttered under his breath, "I wondered why he's with Tzuyu so much these days."
"Bambam, umm..", I bounced in my seat agitatedly. "Can we not do this right now? Please?"
His face immediately softened. "Of course." He reached up to tuck a strand of my hair behind my ear. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be."
Crouching down to my level, he asked,"You know I'm here whenever you need me, right?"
I nodded. He leaned forward and sweetly kissed my forehead.
Smiling at the familiar gesture, I tapped his nose in affection. We always used to do this back in our We Zaa Cool days.
A stage hand approached him all of a sudden, looking slightly nervous. "Bambam-ssi, your manager is calling you."
Bambam frowned. "Really? I thought we didn't have anything else scheduled for the night."
But he complied anyway, giving me one last reassuring smile before disappearing in the milieu of idols and crew.
As I settled back in my seat, I felt eyes on me. Chills raised up my spine.
I pivoted three sixty degrees to look around. But found no one looking at me.
~
As I stepped beside Jisoo unnie on the stage for the farewell at the end of the night, all I could think about was my bed. After an extremely long day, I wanted to crawl inside the sheets and never come out. My mind was already imagining a cup of hot chocolate in my hand and a really good movie on the TV. Bliss.
What did I say about counting your chickens before they are hatched.
Turns out, my bed was not in my near future anytime soon.
The fireworks went off as all the idols bowed. The loud boom mixing well with the fans' screams
Bangtan was in the middle. With Twice beside them of course. Jungkook and Tzuyu were holding hands.
Why am I not surprised?
I looked away as some fans called my name from down below. But something caught my eye as I did so.
The fireworks were going off continuously, confetti showering all around us. The front of the stage had pipe ducts for the rounds of fire bursting out of them every now and then.
All in all, it was a typical end to a typical music festival. Nothing was out of the ordinary.
Except one of the ducts wasn't working. We were close to the middle of the stage but not quite, so I could see it very clearly.
I squinted at the dull sparks emanating from below it, nothing but smoke rising from that one pipe while all the others blew out fire. Nobody had noticed the faulty duct apparently.
And I wouldn't have paid it anymore mind, thinking that the stage crew might have noticed it already.
But suddenly the sparks below it turned brighter and faster. And as I looked on in panic, the black plastic of the pipe caught fire.
Slowly, my gaze traveled up the stage, at the idols directly in front of the pipe.
Bangtan. More specifically, Jungkook.
He was oblivious as he held his girlfriend's hand and bowed for his screaming fans.
My heart stopped. At that moment nothing mattered. Not our break up. Not his hurtful words. Not the girl beside him.
At that moment, he was just the boy I loved more than anything in the world.
And he was in danger.
As the fire caught the whole pipe and tube beneath it began to shake with pressure, my feet moved automatically, my whole body on autopilot as I rushed towards him, screaming his name in warning. He looked up at me with a bewildered expression.
All that mattered was getting him out of harms way.
Just as my hands collided with his side pushing him away forcefully, the pipe burst with a loud boom right in front of me.
My vision went black, I felt myself collapsing. My ears rang from the loud noise so close.
I felt blood on my person.
The last thing I heard was Jungkook bellowing my name in pure terror.

This was difficult to write.
