Chapter 38

Lisa's pov~

"Are you sure about this?", Chaeng whispered through the door, keeping it closed so nobody could see me sneaking out.

"I have to try.", I murmured in a reply, zipping my hoodie up all the way. It was cold out, winter firmly setting in now that it was end of the year.

"Okay. Be careful. I'll tell the managers that you went with Red Velvet. Don't worry, Yeri promised to cover for you." With that and a one more order to be cautious Chaeng closed the door.

And right on time I saw a cab pull over at the curb outside the exit of the arena. With a deep breath I moved towards it.

Shutting the door and relaying my destination to the driver, I sat back to ponder over Jungkook's text message again.

Why the sudden change of mind? My brain recognised that something was amiss. But the heart wants what it wants.

I had to take this chance. If I didn't he might never agree to talk to me again.

I saw his dorm building approaching and sat up straight, paying the driver when he stopped the car.

The familiar fenced in and gated entrance greeted me as I stepped outside. My watch showed it was 9:45pm. I was early. I had no way of knowing if anybody was inside but thankfully the surrounding streets looked empty. Guess the fans knew their beloved idols weren't home.

I decided to wait at the gate. It was only 15 minutes, I didn't mind waiting. What I did mind though was the freezing cold weather.

My hoodie was light and just a minute outside and I was shivering like a leaf during autumn. I hugged my arms around me, trying my best to turn into a human burrito.

Just 15 minutes, Lisa. Then you can be toasty warm.

An hour passed and my tired, freezing legs gave way under me. I slid down to the ground and sat with my back against the outer wall. Closing my eyes and gritting my teeth against the biting cold, I rubbed my hands together to generate warmth.

Just a few minutes longer. He'll be here...

I didn't know how long I sat there, curled into myself, my mind going into a meditative state but the honk of a car horn down the road jerked me out of my stupor. I reluctantly pulled my hands out from underneath the hoodie to check the time.

12:38 am.

Sighing with disappointment, I got up from my spot, limbs aching from sitting in one place for too long. Guess he isn't coming. I'm such a fool...

The purr of an engine approaching made me tense up and turn. It was past midnight and he was coming home now?

A familiar black SUV stopped just a ways before the gated entrance and the back doors opened.

My brows drew in confusion as a clearly drunk Namjoon stumbled on the sidewalk, giggling as he tried several times to punch the correct code on the lock. He hadn't seen me lurking just ahead.

Giggling once more, he pushed inside as the gates finally opened, turning to shout out, "Take your time maknae, I won't disturb you."

I was so damn confused.

Just then a clearly high pitched voice came from inside the car. "Nooo. Stay here. I don't wanna go out, it's cold."

That did not sound like Tzuyu. My fists clenched in anger and hurt.

Jungkook stepped out, dodging hands clinging to him and pulling him back inside. His amused chuckle made me shiver for an entirely different reason than the cold. "Then let's get warm in my room, babe."

Unbidden tears threatened to fall again as I watched him pull a strange woman out from the car and into his arms. The curvaceous brunette went straight for his mouth, kissing him desperately.

He seemed to be enjoying it.

I had seen enough. If he thought he could play these games with me just to see me hurt, I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction. Forcing my tears back I stepped backwards, trying my best to slip away quietly. I hadn't signed up for an embarrassing meet with whatever tart he had picked up for the night.

Too bad. The sound of my boots echoed loudly in the otherwise silent neighbourhood.

He snapped his head up in a panic, no doubt thinking some fan had caught him kissing a scantily clad woman and taken pictures.

His caramel eyes met my wide ones. Whatever reaction I had expected, I never thought he'd do what he did next.

Rolling his eyes, he let out a derisive chuckle. "Look who we have here. I thought you would have chickened out and left."

"The only coward here is you."

"Really? Then why were you leaving just now." He raised a mocking eyebrow, pulling the whining girl beside him into his chest to shut her up.

He had been watching me then, no doubt he saw the perfect opportunity to torture me when I asked him to talk.

Seeing him touching the girl so casually made my skin crawl. I flicked my chin towards her. "No longer interested in your girlfriend? I didn't know you were so promiscuous."

He laughed, running his tongue against the inside of his cheek. "Oh baby, you don't know the half of it. I've always been insatiable..." he gave me a knowing look, then continued softy."...even when I was dating you."

My heart stopped, my already freezing face turning into stone. What was he implying? That he cheated on me when we were together?

He continued on, as if he hadn't just dropped an atom bomb of hurt on me. "And this one." He gestured to the girl. "Tzuyu introduced her to me actually. She's more open-minded than you could ever be."

What the..? That girl had mental issues.

I scrunched my face in distaste, but he just smirked at my discomfort. "Oh don't become so uptight now. If I recall you were in my bed, begging me to fuck you harder just a few weeks ago."

Cheeks going flaming hot at his crude words, I was embarrassed to discover that even just the memory of what he'd just said in my mind, made me all hot and bothered.

And Jungkook read me like an open book.

He laughed."Did that turn you on? I knew dirty talk did it for you. Under that self righteous exterior, you're just as basic and predictable as every other girl I've been with."

Each word was like a barbed wire, he knew my insecurities. He was goading purposefully. I refused to give him any indication that his words hurt too deep.

He scoffed. "What? Cat got your tongue? Did you lose your backbone along with your pride when you came begging to "talk", not that you had much of either to begin with."

"Jungkook.", I gritted out. "I know I hurt you, but you're treading on thin ice here. Stop before you go too far. There's only so much I can forgive."

Eyes turning as hard as ice chips, he let go of the girl who was now watching us both with a stupefied expression.

Slowly, his intimidating muscular form moved closer to me and he didn't stop until his boots touched mine, our noses almost brushing. His familiar scent washed over me but unlike before it didn't bring much comfort, only dread as he looked down on me with his towering presence.

He was pissed off.

"You think very highly of yourself, don't you doll?", he asked with feigned curiosity.

"Jungkook don't." I knew he was going to wreck me. Only he had the power to strip down every one of my defenses.

"You think you're a special snowflake just because you look so much different than every other girl in the industry. Well, let me tell you that's your only charm. Once the novelty of your looks wore off, I had to suffer through your dull and run-of-the-mill presence everyday."

"I know you're only saying this to hurt me.", trembling lips uttered the only thing I could conjure up. Not going to cry, not going to cry...

He smirked, then shrugged. "If that's what helps you sleep at night."

"Stop this-"

He cut me off with an absentminded humm. "Maybe your group should focus on your own work instead of chasing after Bangtan. Just recently your unnie Jennie asked to meet Yoongi hyung. He refused, of course."

"Enough!", I shouted, pointing a finger at his face, which I wanted to slap so much right now. Tears spilled unbidden this time, I couldn't stop them."You want to offend me, fine. Good job, you succeeded. But don't go after my members, do you hear me?"

The smug expression on his beautiful face outraged me too much. "Truth hurts, doesn't it? Think twice before you come talking to me again, doll. I will shred you into so many pieces, you won't be able to find a hole small enough to crawl into."

Jungkook stepped back, looking me up and down with derision. "Now if you'll excuse me. I have better things to do than look at your pathetic self all night."

Extending his arm out for the brunette, she instantly came to his side and he led her inside without another look at me.

I was done. Done with him. Done with salvaging anything we had before at all. Was it even worth anything anyway. He had just implied that he cheated on me, outright said that he had hated my company and had nothing but condescension for everything about me.

Well, he could go to hell then. If it wasn't for me, he'd be battling harassment charges just now, the ungrateful bastard.

I wiped my tears and took my phone out to call a cab. Ready to move on from the dickhead already.

.
.
I couldn't have known that Jungkook was watching me from a window inside the dorm and stood there watching until the cab pulled away from the curb.

Thank you guys so much for all the well wishes and prayers for my grandma. You're so supportive, each and every one of you.

3-4 more chapters left in the story. + an epilogue of course. For those asking, I will not be writing a book 2 for Liskook but Yoonnie's story from this book will continue in the sequel i.e. they will be the main couple in the next book.
