Story Ideas #5

This one might be weird or convoluted. And pretty long too. Possibly. I'm not sure. I came up with this sort of on the spot and I haven't been able to get it off of my mind because the concept seems really cool. It could go well as an anime but I think I'd be more thrilling as a video game. And guess what?

This is pretty gay asf.

Let's begin.

---

In a somewhat dystopian fantasy world, there is a country made up of different regions with different mythical creatures that coexist with humans. There is magic and such; both good and evil. Within this society, there are what people deem the Unwanted. They are the creatures that are seen as outcasts and different than what is normal (which is ironic for a fantastical universe). Among these Unwanted is the main character, Eno. He's a guy; brown wavy hair, tanned skin, green eyes, wears a sort of poncho with a hood on it, has a tunic underneath, he looks pretty adorable.

In the beginning, he is kicked out of a village for being an Unwanted. People scream at him, throw things at him, call him scum. He runs away into the nearby forest, panicking, crying and feeling hopeless. He has no shelter, no family, no food. Eno keeps running and running, not wanting to stop but scared for his life.

A few days into his wandering journey through the vast forest, Eno comes across a figure walking on a path. This figure is dressed in a black cloak (and a tunic underneath) and carries some sort of container. Eno watches the figure reach inside the container and draw a charm symbol with white paint on the trees it passes. The figure presses a hand on the tree and Eno watches a blue light quickly wash over the tree. The figure walks on and does the same thing to other trees. (This mysterious person is protecting the trees, casting charms to further increase vitality or give them protection.)

The figure turns at a certain angle and a breeze comes in, accidentally taking off the hood. The mysterious person turns out to be a man: dark hair, dark eyes, fair skin, and pretty much gorgeous. Eno, having been hiding in a bush, is just like "holy shit, that's a gorgeous man, whoa". Eno gets so enthralled in by the unknown man that he leans a little too far and tumbles down a small hill.

The unknown man is forced to set down his container and cautiously draw out a knife (Eno is still hidden in more bushes). Once he starts coming closer, Eno friggin' bolts and tries to run away from him as fast as possible. In the blur, he accidentally failed to see a large dip in the ground and started to fall down. But before he hit the ground below, he was caught by none other than the unknown man (he's quick asf, yo). The man asks if he's okay but Eno only freaks out and tumbles out of his arms. He tries to crawl away, but the man just crouches in front of him and stops him.

The man tells Eno that he doesn't have to be afraid of him but Eno is still a little on edge. Let's see...take this for example:

Unknown man: May I see your face?

Eno: *doesn't respond*

Unknown man: *carefully takes off Eno's hood* Can you lift your head? I also want to make sure you're not injured.

Eno: *hesitantly lifts his head*

Unknown man: *smiles at him*

Eno: *literally explodes in a figurative way*

Unknown man: You look different.. You're not from this region. Why are you here?

Eno: Um..I have a good friend who lives around here. I was on my way to visit him...

Unknown man: *looks at Eno's left ear to see a shiny, metallic piercing on the rim* *his smiles falters* You look for sanctuary out here. *touches the piercing* You have the branding of an Unwanted.

Eno: *on the verge of panicking*

Unknown man: *smiles again* There's no need to worry. I won't hurt you. I'm not like those who have cast you out. If you need sanctuary, I can provide it for you. Please consider my offer, even if you only stay for a short time.

Eno: *looks at the unknown man and is amazed by the serenity on his face and just his good-looking face in general* ..Okay.

Idk if that gives you some sort of idea of...something??

(Also, yes, a metallic piercing on the left ear is the sign of an Unwanted. They can choose to remove it, but it has a curse to it so that when it is removed, the user will be cursed and will die shortly after. For some, that's a better fate than living with the label of an Unwanted.)

On with the story.

Eno follows the unknown man, who introduces himself as Jassin. During the walk, Eno thinks to himself that he should just run while he still can, that he can avoid whatever deception there is. Yet he still follows Jassin close behind him.

They arrive at a fairly large cottage. Here is where Jassin lives alone, practicing magic or concocting substances to benefit the forest. Here, Eno can choose to take shelter with Jassin and live with him for as long as he wants. Eno keeps thinking that he should run away again, or, let's say Jassin leaves his knife behind, that he should take the knife so that he has a weapon when he runs away. He thinks of taking things to help him on his destination-less journey, yet no matter how much he tells himself to run, to not trust Jassin, to not take the hospitality he gives, Eno does not leave.

And what would be cute is that, if this is in video game form, somewhere in the corner of your screen, you see a heart appear. The heart appears and resonates a warm rosy glow, beating and beating, and you hear the deep hum every time it beats. That heart appears whenever Jassin does something nice for Eno, when Jassin looks at Eno a certain way, and just when Eno sees Jassin. That is his heart slowly growing and slowly losing itself to Jassin. You can trigger it with certain things to ensure that Eno's love for Jassin grows and grows. And Jassin will come to love Eno just the same.

They live together for quite some time; tending to the forest, making magical concoctions together, reading books together and such. Eno is the happiest he's ever been for he's finally found the person he can entrust his entire being with.

But his happiness doesn't last.

One day, Eno goes out to retrieve certain plants for Jassin and when he comes back, he finds a guard regimen outside of the cottage. Eno watches from afar as officers take Jassin, growling that he has been harboring an Unwanted and that he has committed treason to the King (which he is a douche btw. Recently there's been a new law that deprive Unwanted of any help at all and they must be captured. Yeah, people are just dicks to them). Jassin lies for Eno's sake but the officers don't listen and keep trying to take him away. Jassin fights, but they beat him until he's weak. They tie him up and throw him into a carriage. And as a last, vicious action, the officers set the cottage ablaze.

Eno watches this all and let's out a sob. Some officers hear him and start searching. Before they can catch him, Eno runs away, as far away and as fast as he can. The officers scream after him. Eno runs, his tears nearly blinding him. Finally, Eno ends up falling into a small, abandoned den where he's hidden from the officers, but he loses consciousness when he hits the ground below.

Something that makes this story very dark would be Eno's dream sequences. While he is unconscious at this time, his first dream is of him wandering in an empty, white plain. The farther he walks in the nothingness, the more black figures start to appear and the world distorts. Then the plain suddenly goes grey and he is surrounded by the black figures who scream at him. They call Eno worthless and jab at his body. Their voices keep growing louder and louder. There would be an option where you have to press a single button and its purpose is "Ignore the Pain". You press and press but the wailing of angered entities keep coming and Eno continues to panic. He screams for them stop, but you can't even hear him over the other screams calling him degrading names. Then, just when things get loud, all sound just stops and it's utterly silent. Eno is left alone in a dark plain, on his knees, trembling. It's quiet for a while and no matter what buttons you press to get him to move, he won't. Finally, his nightmare ends when all he utters is...

"I can't."

A couple of days pass. Eno wakes up, tired and sore. He remembers what happened to Jassin and quickly finds a way out of the den. He finds his way back to where the cottage is, hoping it had all been a dream. To his dismay, he finds only the dark, charred pieces of wood and other objects of what had once been the cottage he called home. Jassin is nowhere to be seen. Eno calls out his name in despair, but there is not even a bird's chirp to respond to him. Eno walks around, hoping to find something that wasn't lost to the fire. In the dirt, he finds a white quartz necklace--Jassin's necklace. This necklace, and Jassin's knife, are the only things that survived through the tragedy. Eno cries and holds the necklace close to his chest, longing for Jassin again, and regretting having ever lived with him. Eno knew he shouldn't have stayed, because then Jassin wouldn't have been taken and Eno wouldn't have to live with the guilt.

But that's not the end of Eno's story.

Within the quartz necklace is a spirit to which has guided Jassin through his life. It has no body, and no voice, but it becomes a part of Eno once he wears the necklace, and it guides him to a journey to rescue Jassin.

Since it could be a video game, the necklace provides a protection for Eno, like a protective shield of energy. Jassin's knife is his weapon, and the power of the quartz necklace can be infused with the knife to make it stronger, or even give it different form.

On his journey, Eno comes across other creatures like dark entities, helpful spirits, and other Unwanted who can follow him for a certain time on his journey. Eno can help these Unwanted as well and gain spells or items or currency to aid him.

There can be possibly be three bosses until the final boss. One of which is called the Temptress. She is a beautiful maiden who tries to capture Eno and keep him prisoner in her domain. No matter how much she flirts or tries to manipulate his mind into being a slave to her, Eno prevails. His heart is only set on Jassin.

The second boss can be Bulvarr. He is a large, muscular being who uses extreme violence against Eno. Bulvarr despises Unwanted therefore Eno is the perfect prey. He speaks words of spite and anger and vulgarity, telling Eno that he's pathetic and weak, "nothing but a filthy Unwanted!". But Eno doesn't let Bulvarr get to him and stays strong, for Jassin.

A third potential boss could be an entity in his dreamscapes. It's nothing but a lot of illusive tricks and deception, and just weird stuff that would get you so damn confused. This entity can be called Madalus, and he tries to manipulate Eno into destroying himself and becoming a soulless vessel. But still, Eno will keep fighting and not let Madalus defeat him.

Other dream sequences that Eno can have can be stuff like this:

Eno is walking on a white platform while darkness is below. Up ahead is Jassin, his back towards Eno. Eno starts running to Jassin and is gradually slowed down. You don't know from what exactly, until you look down at Eno's feet to see dark hands reaching from below the platform and grabbing at his ankles. Eno keeps running, calling out Jassin's name. When he finally gets there, Jassin suddenly fades away and the rest of the platform behind Eno breaks away, leaving him stranded and alone. You get another action like the "Ignore the Pain" one, that tells you to press a certain button to "Cry for Jassin". So Eno screams his name over and over into the void around him. You have no response at all. Eno keeps calling and calling, his voice slowly getting weak, but his distress is evident. Finally, at the end of the nightmare, white, slightly shaky words pop up on a black screen, saying:

But you have no one

Because you are NOTHING

Many of Eno's dreams are distressing, which is an aspect that would make this story very haunting or heart-wrenching.

What would be different about this game is that the damage that Eno afflicts in battle is not determined by EXP or strength. It's determined by Eno's love for Jassin. The stronger it is, the more damage Eno can put out.

Along his journey, the more you meet Unwanted, the more you realize that not only are you on your journey to rescue Jassin, but you're on your journey to liberate Unwanted of their discrimination. But liberating the status of Unwanted can be an option for you to do. You can make your journey to rescue Jassin, but it can also be your choice to liberate Unwanted as well or only save Jassin. Either way, you still gotta fight the final boss, which is the corrupted King of the country. (Or maybe I'll change this and you librate them anyway, idk.)

Now, let me tell you something about this story...

It is meant to represent not only the topic of gay love, but the topic of oppressed LGBT people in general.

The Unwanted = people of the LGBT community.

The Temptress represents the concept for gay men to change their sexuality. Forcing them to like women when that isn't what they want.

Bulvarr  represents masculine figures ridiculing gay men for being who they are.

Madalus can represent society bringing these people down to the point where they destroy themselves in the negativity they feel for themselves.

The Unwanted Eno meets along his journey can represent the different people within the LGBT community: transgenders, gays, bisexuals, and lesbians.

But no matter how much Eno goes through, no matter how weak he is or how little he has, LOVE will keep him pushing forward, because Love Wins.

That's why I love this story. Not only that, but very few games touch on the subject of LGBT, or gay love, or the discrimination LGBT people feel at some point in their own journey to find happiness being who they are. I would love to make this game a reality and to give it life. I want it to not only give LGBT people hope but to give others hope as well. To put it this way, have you ever done the Undertale pacifist run? If you have, did you feel that sense of hope and determination and love and happiness? That's what I want this game to give to players.

I hope I can someday.

So, let me know what you all think of this. Do you agree that this should be a thing or that games should try to get these kinds of messages out? Would you play this, if it ever became a game? Let me know, yo.

Also, please listen to the song in the multimedia. It's Don't Drop Me Now by Dylan Russell and it's absolutely beautiful. Imagine a song like that playing in the credits, or something. Oml, tears everywhere.

I'll see you guys around.

Take care...!
