Bimbos and Cigarettes

"Nope. Too slutty."

Cam spun around in the chair a few feet away. I sighed in relief and went back into the dressing room to peel off the short booty shorts and clingy t shirt. I put another outfit on and walked out, spinning around as I did so.

"Nice. Not too revealing. Not to well. . .you. It shows off your curves." Cam complimented, running a hand through his hair. I rolled my eyes.

"Is that all guys see? Boobs, butts, and curves?" I asked.

"Pretty much." He winked. I laughed and went back in to change back into my sweatshirt and worn jeans. I came out with the outfit and tossed it on to him.

"Okay. So I officially have a completely new wardrobe. Are you happy, Mendoza?" He pulled out his debit card to pay and turned and grinned in my direction.

"I am very happy, thank you very much." He winked at the young cashier behind the register once she handed back his card, "But we aren't done. We still need to get you to a salon, and a shoe store. Hmm, and we need to buy you a leather jacket." He thanked the sales woman once more and handed the bags to me. I glared at him as I struggled to carry them out the door.

"You know, a gentleman would help me with my bags." He sent me a quick look over his shoulder.

"Well, I'm not a gentleman sweetheart." I rolled my eyes, struggling to walk fast enough to catch up with him. He was lucky. We hadn't had to get him much of a new wardrobe and when we did we were in and out of the place. The only thing we had to do for him now was pick up his new glasses.

"You're going to have to be, Cam. Girls don't like nerds that treat them like crap." He smiled.

"Yeah, yeah. Let's go eat, I'm hungry." That's how we ended up in a very crowded mall Food Court eating Panda Express.

"You will need to know the types of people there are at our school. Here I'll give you a lecture right now." Cam said, his mouth full. I scrunched my face up in disgust as he pointed in someone's direction. There was a boy with a beanie on, who was flirting with some hipster looking girl.

"Stoner. He'll do anything to get drugs off of Andre, who you probably know as Dre from History." I nodded slowly as he pointed at a petite brown haired girl with big breast.

"Bimbo. Totally gorgeous and nice body, but is a complete airhead. I typically don't go for that type of girl." He moved on to point behind him with his thumb where a jock and a bunch of his friends were sitting and laughing.

If there was one thing I knew about Cam, it was that he never put labels on people. So seeing him completely throwing people under one was beyond shocking for me.

"Star player. Everyone loves him. . .except him. They usually don't mess with anyone, well except dorks that won't do there homework. Just keep your mouth shut when you're around them." He then pointed to a table of girls over my shoulder.

"Gossipers. Oh God, they make me sick. They sit there and twist every word to fit into whatever they want. Disgusting." He pointed to one last table and I could feel my warmth spread through my cheeks when I saw Wes sitting at it.

"Loners. Prefer to be alone. . .or with fellow loners. They don't really like to be messed with. And finally we've got the nerds." Cam stuffed another fork full of chow mien into his mouth as Wes glanced over at us. I smiled and waved a little, then turned my attention back to my best friend.

"Please tell me I don't have to wear high heels."Cam shrugged, letting what I said sink in.

"Maybe on Monday, but that's just for a first impression. You want people to notice you, hear you coming. We've got to get you something that says sexy but not slutty." I giggled at how much he sounded like someone off of a reality show.

"Since when did you become so good with fashion?"

"Moms friends have been coming over a lot. The words that come out of the mouth's of those women." He shook his head disapprovingly.

Once we were done eating we headed out of the mall.

"I'm thinking maybe we should dye your hair-" I cut Cam off immediately.

"I am not dying my hair. I'll highlight it, I'll get a hair cut but I will not dye it." He mumbled something under his breath about me being stubborn as we approached his car. I shoved my bags into his trunk and walked back and got in.

"Fine. Be that way." He said, sticking his tongue out childishly. I shook my head and reached down to turn the radio on.

"What the hell are you wearing?" I let out a squeak and nearly dropped the book in my hands at the sudden outburst.

Jacob was sitting on the tree branch outside of the treehouse by my window.

"None of your business. Have you ever heard of privacy?" I mumbled, a little nastier then I had wanted it to sound.

Why the hell was I snapping at Jacob? I could barely talk to him most of the time, let alone bite his head off.

"If you wanted privacy you should have shut your balcony doors, Blake." I walked across my room and began to shut them when he dropped down from the branch and stepped onto my balcony in front of me.

"What's wrong with you? Why are you mad?" He questioned, moving closer to me. I ignored my racing heart and pushed him back.

"I'm just not having a very good night." I answered, looking down at the small space between our feet. I felt a finger touch my chin, seconds later I was staring into Jacob's memorizing hazel eyes.

"I'm here to talk." He breathed out, his voice husky. I cleared my throat before I let a strange noise escape it and nodded.

"I know, Jake." I replied. He leaned forward and kissed my cheek before backing toward my balcony again.

"I don't like the new look, by the way, sweetheart." He said without looking back, "It's not you." I waited until he was out of hearing range to look down at my clothes and sighed with a smile.

"I guess it's working then."

"Blake, honey! Have you seen my. . .what in the world are you wearing?" I pulled the lipstick away from my lips in slow motion, staring at my mom innocently in the bathroom mirror.

I wasn't wearing anything really revealing. I was wearing fairly short shorts, not nearly as short as the ones yesterday, and a blue t shirt that showed a little cleavage and was a little too clingy for my taste.

"I uh. . .I thought I'd change my look up a little." I replied. She looked at the dark red lipstick in my hand then crossed her arms over her chest.

"I have never seen you put anything but blush on, Blake. And even that was rare, sweetie. What's going on? Is this some sort of acting out phase? A rebellious phase?" The smart me would have told her yes, that it was just a phase. But the good daughter in me wanted to tell her the truth, so I did.

I told her about the bet with Cam.

"I can't stop you from making decisions any more, Blake. Just remember that every action has a consequence." She leaned forward and kissed my forehead, "Just don't do anything stupid, please honey."

She kissed my cheek and walked back down the stairs a few seconds later. That's what I had always loved about my mom. She always let me figure things out for myself. After dad left she had found more reasons to bury herself in her court cases. She had never pressured me other than my grades and I knew she was doing it to look out for me.

"Blake! Get down here!" Cam called from downstairs. I grabbed my leather jacket and bags from my chair and walked down the steps slowly. When I came into the kitchen I found Cam stuffing his face with the donuts my mom had left me. He slowly looked up at the sound of my heels. His eyes wide and his half full mouth open.

"Close your mouth, Cam. That's gross." I shuddered in disgust, "I hope you have money to buy me a breakfast sandwich, that was my breakfast, idiot." Cam regained his composure and shut his mouth after a moment. He reached up to fix his askew glasses before smiling.

"You look hot, Blake. I didn't know you had it in you." He said, obviously proud of the work he'd done all weekend. I smiled and ruffled his hair.

"Thanks, Cammy." I said and moved toward the door. Cam was right at my tail as I shut it behind me.

"You remember the rules, right? We can't hang out with our crowd, our friends. You can't hang out with Shay, and I can't hang out with Raymond." I nodded as he started the car.

We drove to school in silence. I could tell Cam was a little uncomfortable driving with glasses, but he got used to it after a few minutes. Once we got to school I took a deep breath and stared out the window.

"Hey, don't get cold feet, Blake. Everything will be fine. Just act like you don't care about anyone but yourself. It gives off a "Bad girl" vibe." Cam said, but I could tell he was just as nervous as I was. I shut my eyes and laid my head back against the seat, biting my lip.

"Don't worry, Blake. Everyone will love you or love to hate you! Let's go." Cam got out of the car and walked around to let me out. I could already see some people turning our way, seeing their precious bad boy, or what he had become, more accurately.

"Come on." Cam held his hand out to me and helped me out. Even with heels Cam was still taller then me. I was sure that every single person around us went silent when they saw us. Cam squeezed my hand reassuringly and we began to walk toward the school. As hard as we tried, we couldn't escape the whispers.

"Is that Cam?"

"Is that Blake Hart?"

"Is she new?"

"She's hot."

"What a slut!"

I tried to ignore most of the comments. I was doing pretty good until I felt a hand grab my elbow and spin me around. Wes and Shay were both glaring at me.

"What the hell is that?" Wes asked, referring to my clothes. I glanced back at Cam and he nodded. I took a deep breath and turned back to Wes.

"It's a t shirt and shorts, haven't you heard of them?" I said. Wes looked surprised and Shay looked more hurt then anything else.

"What's wrong with you, Blake? Why didn't you tell me? Why. . ." I held my hand up to quiet her, feeling my heart sink into my stomach.

"Listen, Harper. I don't hang out with nerd's anymore. I'm over that. As for you," I smirked at Wes, feeling the need for a hole to open up beneath me, "I hope to see you around." I turned around and took Cam's arm again. We walked into the school, everyone staring after us. Once we were inside Cam pulled away and turned to look at me.

"Blake? You okay?" I stared at him through my eye lashes, then back outside where Shay and Wes were looking at us through the window. I could already feel guilt starting to gnaw at my core, but I shoved it way down and gave Cam a forced smile.

"Yeah. I think I'm going to be fine."

It was the biggest lie that had ever left my mouth.
