Sixteen
The rain was heavy, the winds were loud. Habiba felt as though the roofs of the house would tears apart. She stood in the kitchen making breakfast for Amal and Amar, it was 9AM in the morning and everyone in the house was still asleep except Habiba.
"Urgh urgh urgh" she could hear a feminine cough behind her, she turned arround to find Ameerah staring at her with a smirk on her face.
"Tell me, did you and Amar fight yesterday?. Because he wasn't passionate while Making love to me yesterday" she said and Habiba immediately formed a fist.
"I don't have time for you Ameerah" Habiba said and continued flipping the pancakes.
"Wow, now that you are now my husband's wife you are calling my name without respect" Ameerah said.
"Are you worth being respected. Even Amal would not respect you after finding out what you had done...." She was cut short by the loud thunderous voice of Amar.
"Habiba don't you dare repeat that again!" He yelled. "Why are you guys arguing?" He asked softly.
Habiba turned and faced her chore without uttering a word. "Keep this wife of yours on a Leach or I'll pounce on her like a lion" Ameerah said making habiba turn arround to face.
"I'd love to see you try" she said Calmly. "Stay away from me Ameerah, you're here for your child and husband and not me. So please stay in your lane" Habiba said. Amar couldn't phantom what happened and decided to simply leave them with a warning before leaving.
Habiba kept the food on the table and decided to make her way upstairs because she was tired but Amar stopped her.
"Eat with us" he said.
"I'm okay" she said. He didn't want to push things any further and decided to leave her to herself. She walked upstairs and immediately collapsed on her bed where she immediately fell asleep.

It was 12PM in the afternoon and Habiba was still asleep which made Amar very worried. So he went into her room where he found her asleep.
"Habiba" he placed his palm on her forehead which was extremely hot.
"Oh my God, you have a fever" he said. He immediately left for his room where he dipped a towel into cold water and came back. She was still asleep so he decided to simply place it on her head before phoning the doctor.
The doctor arrived in not less than an hour and prescribed some drugs for Habiba who was still asleep. "She'll be fine, it's a cold" the doctor said and Amar felt extremely relieved.
"Thanks for coming" he thanked the doctor who immediately took his leave after his work was done.
Amar on the other hand decided to stay with Habiba who made calm moves in her sleep. He smiled at the face she made in her sleep, it looked so attractive.
"Water" Habiba said and Amar grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge which stood in her room.
She opened her eyes slowly to find him seating before her. She grabbed the bottle of water from his hand and Drank it in a pace before passing it back.
"Aren't you supposed to be at work?" She questioned and he nodded in the negative.
"Stop acting as if you care" she said with her eyes staring at the pink blanket that laid on her lap.
"I do care, and I've always cared" he held unto her hand calmly but she immediately yanked them away from his without uttering a word again.
"You can leave now, I'm doing fine" She said.
"Why are so stubborn?" He asked which made lift her eye lids open.
"Because you made me this way" she said before shutting her eyes back again.
"how did I make you this way Habiba?"
"I don't have time..." He cut her short.
"Habiba from the very first day I married you, I have never been mean to you. But you, you've always hated me, but I don't complaint because you said you were marrying me for my child's sake. Tell me, how did I make you stubborn?" He said, she sat up on the bed and looked down to her hands which were painted with red henna.
"I don't know" she whispered.
"You don't even know what you are saying" he said before standing up on his feet and leaving.
She watched him walk out and the door suddenly got shut loud, it was as though it brought her back to reality. There was no reason for her to hate Amar, that she knew.
Instead of sulking like usual, she decided to take her bath and go downstairs to prepare lunch. She did everything in a pace, except observing her prayers which she did with great care.
She made her way downstairs and into the kitchen only to find Amar already making lunch.
"Why are you making lunch?" She asked.
"Why are you downstairs, you should be resting" he said. She made her way towards him and grabbed the knife in which he was chopping the onions with and made her towards the chair which she sat down on.
"Where is Amal?" She asked.
"She's out with Ameerah" he said while steering the tomato sauce in the pot.
"Oh" she simply said.
"Taste it and tell me if the salt is enough" He said while passing her a spoon of the sauce.
She grabbed it and taste it and said "Maybe a little to much" she said and he chuckled.
"Should I add more water to reduce it?" He asked.
"Yeah just a little" she said and he nodded and returned back to his chore. He added a cup of water in the thick sauce and steered it slowly.
"Here, have this juice" he passed her an apple juice which she didn't decline to. She grabbed it and sipped it slowly.
"Thanks" she said and he smiled.
"You're welcome" he muttered.
"Wow what's this amazing smell?" Ameerah said the minute she entered into the kitchen and saw Amar cooking, she had just arrived.
"Welcome dear" he said to Ameerah who was already standing before him and having a taste of the food.
"Good afternoon" Habiba greeted her softly but she didn't respond, but instead she eyed slowly before returning her attention to Amar.
"That means the food I brought for you will go to waste" Ameerah said.
"You brought food?" Amar asked and she nodded.
"Let Habiba have it, she is sick and needs to eat" Amar said.
"No, I will wait for the one you are cooking" Habiba said.
Amar didn't want to cause a scene so he didn't argue with her and let her be.
