Chapter 2-Home Sweet Hogwarts

As the train glided smoothly along the tracks, Fred, George, Leah and I continued our "get to know you" session.

"So how come we haven't seen you around Hogwarts before?" George questioned, a curious look placed on his face. When Leah didn't answer, I piped up.

"Well, last year we got kicked out of a wizarding school in America for pranking. What was it called, Leah?"  I obviously remembered the name of that school, but Leah was staring hopelessly at George.

"Huh? Oh it was Madame Boulevard's School for Excellency. I hated that school!" Leah grumbled.

"I never caught your full name." George smirked. I could see the sparks about to fly. Leah looked at him and blushed. "Leah Valdez." Leah awkwardly stuck her hand out. George reached and shook her hand as I smiled and inwardly aww'd at them.

"Um, Christine?" Fred squeaked. I turned slowly to meet his beautiful brown gaze. "Yes Fred?" I said barley audible. I cleared my throat and waited for Fred to speak. "How come you guys have different last names? You look like twins." Fred smirked. I looked at the eagerly chatting duo. Leah looking happier than I'd seen her in a while. George seemed as equaly happy.

"I get that a lot. She is my practical sister. She has been my best friend since I was born. So we hardly ever spend time apart." I explained. Fred took in every word and "Hmm"d. I smiled and sigh/giggled.

The rest of the ride was pretty simple. I chatted with Fred, Leah chatted with George. About 5 minutes till we got there, I realized we needed to change. "Well, we better get into our robes. Come on Leahloo." I stood up and grabbed Leah. Our stuff was already in the bathroom so we walked there.

"So what do you think? Next prank victims?" I smirked at Leah. "What? NO!" Leah protested. "What do you mean! Guys are the best to prank. Plus they are pranksters too which is even better!" I pleaded. Leah was always stubborn when deciding prank victims. "But these guys are cute. And how can you tell they're pranksters?" Leah whispered while stroking her straight brown hair. "They have that mischievous glint in their eyes." I beamed.

We arrived at the bathroom and I stopped in my tracks, realizing the other part of Leah's sentance. "Leah, you always do this. You develop feelings for a guy just cause he looks cute." I put my hands on my hips and scowled at her. "Chrisi, you always do this!" She motioned to me with anger. "You always go into mother mode when I say I like someone!" Leah had a point, I did. I lowered my hands and blushed. "I'm sorry Leah. I just don't want a repeat of what happened between you and Michael Anthony." As soon as the words left my mouth Leah paled.

*2 years before*

"Hi Michael." Leah sang. Michael looked up from his book and smiled. "Hey Leah. What's up?" Michael closed his book. Leah stroked her hair, like she always does when nervous. "Well, I was, uh, I was wondering if you would like to go to-" Leah was instantly cut off by Michael. "Look Leah, I like you, I really do. It's just, I think of you as my little sister, not as a love interest. I'm sorry." Michael spat out. Leah's eyes brimmed with big tears, a few slipping down her cheeks. "I-I get it Michael. I'm so STUPID!" Leah ran off crying to the bathroom, Michael looking hurt and regretful. I followed and comforted her for the rest of the night.

*Current time*

"Well, I've learned since then. I can handle myself Chrisi. And I will always come to you first." Leah fummbled with her wand as we waited. The door swung open and hit me. I felt a warm flow coming from my nose.

"OH MY GOODNESS! I am SOOOOOO sorry!" A vibrant ginger rambled. "Here, I'll fix it. Episky!" My nose made a loud CRACK and was back in place. I sniffed and wiggled my nose. "No worries. I'm Christine Penrose." I offered, pushing my nose slightly. "Ginny Weasley. I am really sorry about that.  I'm a bit clumsy." The red head blushed and twiddled her thumbs. "So am I-" I began but the train jerked forward and I fell backwards. I tripped over a trunk and landed on the floor.

"Chrisi, you ok?" Leah chuckled. I bursted into giglles and got up. "I-I-I'm fine." I wheezed through laughs. Leah and I composed ourselves and looked at Ginny. 'I'm Leah Valdez. Welcome to our group." Leah smiled. Ginny's face lit up. "Really? COOL!" Ginny bounced. "Well, you two better change." Me and Leah stepped past Ginny and quickly changed.

*

"Oi!What took you so long?" The twins said as Leah and I finally made it back to the compartment. "Well we had a little run in with a girl named Ginny." I brushed a hair out of my face and plopped down a few inches from Fred. "Ah, so you've met our sister." George mummbled. Leah sat across from him and adjusted herself. "Ya, she broke and then fixed Chrisi's nose." Leah threw out casually. "WHAT! You ok Christine?" Fred jumped. "I'm fine, we all had a good laugh after. I tripped over a trunk and fell." I slightly chuckled.

I got my trunk and Amber's cage down and walked out of the compartment, followed closley by Leah, Fred, and George. We stepped off the train and set our stuff down. "First years!" Hagrid boomed. I excitedly waved at him and he smiled back. Fred grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards carriages pulled by giant horses. They were skeletal and black.

"What are those things?" I questioned looking at Fred. He gave me a puzzled look. "You can see those?" He looked worried. "Yes. What are they?" I cautiously engaged. "For one thing, I can't see them, but Hermione told us about em. Called Thesterals. Only those who have witnessed death can see them." Fred explained. I suddenly remembered the worst day of my life.

It happened only months ago.

Mum, dad, my older sister Annabeth and I were on a vacation in England. We were in the cottage, playing Wizard's Chess. Suddenly, everything changed. It was all comotion. Four men in black cloaks and white masks barged in and shouted at us. They kept shouting "WHERE IS HE?! WHERE IS HE?!" knocking tables over. Annabeth got up and walked to them. "Who are you looking for?" She calmly asked. I was shocked into place. "THE BOY WHO LIVED! WHERE IS HE?!" One of the men shouted. "We don't have him!" Annabeth raised her voice and stepped in front of me as I trembled. "DON'T LIE TO US!" Another man stepped forward with wand raised. "I'm not, we DON'T have him." Annabeth raised her own wand. "AVADA KEDAVRA!" The man shouted. Green shot from his wand and Annabeth fell to the floor. "ANNABETH! ANNABETH!!" I shouted through tears. I ran to her body and shook her. She was limp and pale, her majestic blue eyes glazed and staring no where. Her staright blond hair all over the floor. I sobbed loudly as the men disapperated. Mum and dad ran into the room, over to me and Annabeth. "NO! NO! NOOO!!" Dad shouted as he cried. Mum pulled me up and I fought against her. I ran back to Annabeth and craddled her as I rocked back and forth and sobbed.

I was brought back to reality. Tears came and I couldn't stop them. I sobbed and fell to my knees. I couldn't unsee the image of Annabeth's limp body laying there. "CHRISI!" Leah ran over to me and kneeled. "You ok?" Leah moved some hair out of my face. "Annabeth.." I whispered as I sobbed. "Fred, carry her to the carriage." Leah commanded. Fred picked me up bridal style and sat me down. I leaned into him and sobbed on his shoudler.

*Fred's P.O.V.*

Christine stared blankly into space. All of the sudden, she jerked forward and began to sob. She sobbed and fell to her knees. "CHRISI!" Leah yelled running to her side. I followed suit and kneeled beside Christine. "You ok?" Leah moved hair out of Christine's face. She mummbled something through sobs and Leah became somber. "Fred, carry her to the carriage." Leah commanded. I nodded and picked Christine bridal style. She wrapped her cold arms around my neck. My heart skipped a beat as I set her down.

Christine leaned into me and sobbed on my shoulder. I hesitated but wrapped my arms around her, pulling her closer. I rubbed circles around her back as I did to sooth a crying Ginny. In a matter of minutes, Christine stopped crying and breathed heavily. As she pulled away, I wanted to pull her back and never let her go.

Wait, Fred, pull yourself together. You can't like a girl you just met.

And yet, I think I do.
