Chapter 30

Frisk's POV

Papyrus was just finishing up his plate of spaghetti, the other two still fresh on the table. It was probably one of his finest, as it looked like he used actual tomato sauce. I hadn't even known he could find something like that down in the underground. He must've heard me coming because just then, he'd looked up.

"Oh greetings human! Did you and my brother have a good talk?" He asked.

I brightened up, leaning against the kitchen room frame. "Actually I think we had a great talk..."

He lit up and stood. "A-And...?" He questioned

I smiled brightly. "We're going outside buddy!" I yelled, hugging him.

"Nyeh?!? Oh thank you Frisk!!!!!" He shouted, hugging back.

His happiness was shown both mentally and physically. He'd hugged me so tight that I almost couldn't breath but I hadn't minded. I was happy I had been able to do this for him. Perhaps he could consider it an "I'm sorry" present for leaving. Or maybe he'd already forgave me? It didn't matter, as long as he was happy.

"So mushy with you two it makes me sick"

Annndddd Back to the miserable aura..

Papyrus didn't seem to mind though, he'd hugged his brother just as tight. "Hello Sans! Thank you so much for agreeing brother!"

"Yeah yeah yeah..." He said, hugging him back.

You could tell Sans had truly loved his brother. He only had the best intentions for the skeleton brother. Though in all truth I believed some of his actions were unneeded. He was more than strong enough to protect Papyrus and he knew it. Couldn't blame him fully though... I gave him that fear of not being able to protect his brother.

After a pretty good dinner, Papyrus was more than eager to get outside. He had actually pushed Sans and I to eat faster. I found his anxiousness cute but I could see that Sans was getting annoyed. The old sans would've found it cute... I shook my head, shaking the thought out of my head.

Sans hadn't asked for the fusion, Gaster had fused parts of himself with his sons for his own selfish reasons. Sans wanted to die in the first place. Yet here he was, different from How I remembered and not the skeleton whom I'd loved. Platonically of course...

Looking back at the door, the handle had never looked so new. It's golden glow, taunting me. I bet it was only intensified for Papyrus. He would stare at the door like his life had depended on it. Perhaps he got lost in his distorted reflection on the handle.

"Alright Papyrus, Let's go" Sans said, breaking the silence and dropping his plate into the sink. I stood, doing the same. I was just as excited as Papyrus was. I couldn't wait to see him outside. I could see that it was truly paining Sans to allow this. He really was afraid. Even with as natural as he kept his face, I could see the stress...

Papyrus had rushed over to the door, turning and waiting. I could have sworn that he was vibrating with energy. Sans on the other hand, couldn't take his eyes off the floor. Knowing him- well, half of him, He was panicking. So I approached him and gently elbowed his waist. He looked up and I shot him a caring smile.

"Cheer up Sans it'll be fine I promise....." I hated making promises as much as he had..... And he knew that.

He let out a breath and closed his eyes, wiping off the worry. He visibly relaxed, replacing any negative emotion with confidence. As much as he didn't want to do this, his brother's happiness was more important.. That was one thing we still had in common.

The second Sans opened the door, Papyrus ran out, running up and down the road like a squirrel would run to it's tree. He was so cute..... I smiled at Sans, giving him an "I told you so" look and he smiled back for once. He knew I was right, he just didn't like admitting he was wrong.

"Maybe I should listen to you more often dollface.." He said, looking over.

I turned to him and giggled, shifting my weight to one foot and crossing my arms. "That's what I've been trying to tell you this entire time"

"Come on you two! Join me in the frolicking!" Papyrus interrupted.

We both giggled and ran after Papyrus.

Perhaps we could let our problems slip our minds for a few hours.
