Chapter 18

G's POV

It was weird. I had trouble sleeping that night. It was so unusual because I'm literally half of the laziest, tiredest skeleton in the entire damn underground. But at the same time I was also half of the creepiest, most well, and least known scientist in the world.

I didn't know what to call myself, because I wasn't really either. But I was more of Sans then I had been Gaster. I had Sans' memories... his powers...... I had his blasted cigarette cravings and his wise ways. But I also had part of Gaster's looks. I undoubtedly had his height and anger issues but I also had his scientific smarts as well as his maturity that mixed with Sans'.

I had pulled myself out of my bed with a quieted groan. I stretched out my bones, hearing a crack. It didn't hurt really, it was actually kinda satisfying. It was only awkward when people who weren't skeletons did it.

I knew Papyrus was up by then. He was always up early. He rarely spoke to me at all and it made my soul ache. I want'ed to fix it, truly, but if that was what it took to keep him safe then so be it. My morning spaghetti was already on the table.

I was gonna dish some out for the kid but I reminded myself that she didn't like spaghetti. I sighed. Normally in this scenario I would give a flying fuck but I'd need a healthy opponent. Which brought me to my next subject. I had to inform her at some point right? This was the perfect opportunity. Butter her up like the toast she'd have.

She would've had more bacon if I had eaten my spaghetti before making hers. I had learned a thing or two about cooking from Tori back when Frisk was with the crew. Before I'd become who I am today. Tori was a great friend. She knew the answers to questions even I couldn't answer. She was easy to talk and relate to.

It was hard to leave the group, it truly was, but at the time, it was a must. I wouldn't have been able to protect Papyrus above ground. There was too much ground to cover and an extremely large chance of death. Down here, any and all humans were officially on our turf, and if there weren't any monsters around for them to gain "love" as the flower called it, or LV, then it was almost too easy to take them down.

After the sausage was finished I stuffed the plate into the microwave for twenty seconds, and waited. I knew it was a while since she'd had a proper meal, or at least that was what it looked like. If she didn't eat this then I was giving up and finding a new competitor, snd disposing of her.

It was creepy, how much she had reminded me of Frisk. I knew it was impossible. With the harsh world up there, there was no way she'd survived. I understood that, and accepted that pain. This girl, whoever she was, was the exact opposite.

This girl didn't solve shit through sparing or saving. She solved it with independence, confidence, and violence. She didn't take shit from anyone-well... at least she didn't like to. She was the perfect opponent. Which is why It'd be such a shame to lose her.

When I walked in, she was already awake. The rings under her eyes told me that it was another sleepless night so I kinda felt bad. I wanted her to be completely ready for it but it couldn't wait forever.

When she called me "Sans" there were red flags, and sirens, and flashing lights that screamed "what the fuck" Because I hadn't told her my name. She knew something. Was it that flower? . . . . Was flowey right?

The day before, the flower had paid me a visit while I was out. He had told me to be careful with the girl... That I'd regret it if I wasn't. There was something more to this girl. What did the flower tell her? What do they know that I don't damnit?!?

I observed her actions after my inquired statement. Something had snapped in realization. She looked nervous and confident at the same time. I didn't think that was possible but she pulled it off. Her magic flashed in her eyes again and she glanced up at me.

What scared me was what I saw. I saw weakened determination. Frisk was the only human I knew who could give a monster that look. Show them that want to reset. To give in. Nobody did it better than she did and that was the very look she was giving me right now. She didn't know she made that face which is probably why she looked worried.

My jaw was nearly on the floor, and my pinpricks had disappeared. I was tense, and when I realized I'd loosened up, closed my mouth and brought the pinpricks back. The last thing I'd needed right now was to blackout. There weres o many things on my mind that could've been spilled.

I didn't even speak any further. I simply got up and walked to the door. She must've gotten the right idea because she just stayed silent and watched. I paused and glanced over my shoulder at her and spoke with a cracked voice. "Tomorrow, be ready for practice.

I wasn't handling this today.
