What's The Difference
Tom POV
I open my eyes, staring at the black ceiling. I feel empty, what is this?! I never felt like this with Star when she told me she didn't like me anymore and wanted to break up. So, why is Marco any different?
I push myself up with whatever energy I can muster. I let out a huff and stand up. I walk over to my bathroom and wash my face in the cool water. Without drying off, I walk back out and flop back down onto my bed.
"I hate dreaming. I'm never doing again." I mumble as I turn to my side and cuddle up with myself.
Soon, I imagine, I dozed off into peaceful sleep. It's just me, floating around in the darkness, by myself.
Suddenly, I'm in a castle. Dark stone bricks and red fiery tapestries cover the walls of the hall I'm in. To my left is a window, where I peek out of. Out in the far, far distance looks like a town. Made of small pieces to form a wide expanse of land.
My eyes widen as I realize where I am. I run down the hallway to an open room with suits of armor, treasures decorating the walls. I continue running, quickly remembering which way is which.
I run until I charge into a large room with a line of fire leading to four golden thrones. Sitting on the biggest one is a demon, with pinkish hair and three red eyes. Little daggers cross through his eyes and light brown horns poke out of the sides of his head. His skin is a purplish grey, making the golden crown on his head pop. Under a majestic, kingly robe are tattered clothes, the shirt particularly. On the middle of the shirt is a dark, maroon circle with a light red star.
"Well, well, well! Look who came back to claim the throne. Finally ready to become me?" The man asks with a sneer.
"Never, I will never become one with you! You're just what father made to guilt trip me into becoming like you." I spit at the man who lets his smile sink down into a grimace.
"At least I'm better than you are right now!" He says with a chortle. "Look at you! Chasing around the human boy who stole our girl? Seriously, Tom, could you stoop any lower?"
"T-that's none of your business! I'm leaving." I stammer angrily as I turn around to walk out the wide, castle doors.
Suddenly they slam shut and I can hear a strong lock click it shut.
"What?!" I mumble as I stagger backwards in surprise. "How did you do that?"
He just smiles, "Tom, you know how, I usually am weak, defenseless, powerless; kind of like a human, wouldn't you say so?"
My eyes widen in realization as he giggles. "Well, thanks to you, you've switched the tables! Now I am the one in charge!"
"But unfortunately," he continues, "The rule is, in order to get the throne, we must have a bride. Of course, when you offered that to Star, she freaked out and went all anti-royalty on every dimension."
"So, now what? There's no one else." I reply, smiling at how his plan just crumbled before our eyes.
He grinned, "No one? Well, I wouldn't say Marco is no one."
I growl at him. "No! Leave Marco out of this, you scum!"
"Oof, the self hate, Tom! Why are you always bringing yourself down? And plus you can just call me Alpha-Tom." He cackled and with a snap of his fingers I was teleported to some dark, drafty place.
I turn to see bars and quickly grab them, yanking hard. "Tom! Let me out! Leave him alone!"
All that replies is an evil cackle through the moist air.
